Military Links Between Two Terrorists Fuel Theories of Sleeper-Cell, Gov’t Conspiracy

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) A surprise military link between Shamsur-Din Jabbar, the New Orleans attacker who had a furled-up ISIS flag on his truck hitch, and Matthew Livelsberger, the Las Vegas attacker who turned his Cybertruck into a suicide bomb, led some to question whether there could be a connection in the two New Year’s Day attacks.

Both of the Army veterans reportedly served time at North Carolina’s Fort Bragg (currently called Fort Liberty) during the Obama administration.

As investigative journalist Kyle Becker noted, the base near Fayetteville, one of the world’s largest military bases, is a common way-station for Army recruits, including those undergoing basic training, meaning that the connection, if true, might be a coincidence.

However, some critics of the Biden administration’s open border and other foreign policy decisions, including those who claimed to have particular insight into government operations, said that it was worthwhile to question whether it might not be a coincidence.

Theories varied as to whether the acts of domestic terrorism, if indeed connected, were linked to a foreign government or if the individuals might have been radicalized by the U.S. military itself into committing acts of possible treason in protest of the incoming Trump administration.

In October, investigative journalist Lee Smith issued a stark warning that the propaganda campaign being waged against Trump by individuals such as disloyal former Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly and seditious Gen. Mark Milley, Biden’s former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, might be intended to signal to members of the military that they should plot a coup if Trump won.

“Democratic Party research and media reports show that many senior party officials and operatives are preparing for the possibility of a Trump victory,” Smith wrote in a post on the blog of Claremont Institute chair Tom Klingenstein

“Accordingly, planning is focused on undermining the incoming president with enough violence to rock his administration. Prominent post-election scenarios forecast such widespread rioting that the newly elected president would be compelled to invoke the Insurrection Act,” Smith continued. “With some senior military officials refusing to follow Trump’s orders, according to the scenarios, the U.S. Armed Forces would split, leaving America on the edge of the abyss.”

Smith said the efforts to portray Trump as a threat to democracy itself were effectively being used as dogwhistle code, not for the voting public but for Manchurian-candidate service members who had been brainwashed into a warped sense of patriotic duty.

“By vilifying Trump as a despotic madman who must be stopped before he can commence his reign of terror, the regime’s propaganda apparatus not only slanders Trump but also pre-emptively threatens the reputation, as well as the livelihood and perhaps the liberty, of current military personnel,” he wrote.

The political subtext in Livelsberger’s attack—detonating one of Elon Musk’s Cybertrucks outside of the Trump Tower Las Vegas—seemed undeniable.

Reports indicated that the Colorado Springs resident had previously been involved with Army Green Berets and had inquired via LinkedIn about a “contractor opp” in Ukraine.

Both Routh and fellow failed Trump assassin Thomas Crooks appeared to have Ukraine-related motives also, with Crooks having been linked to the investment firm BlackRock that is overseeing the country’s postwar reconstruction.

Meanwhile, several sources on X noted that the CIA—which appeared to be involved somehow in the New Orleans investigation—may have been involved during the Obama administration in recruiting and funding ISIS fighters, even as the U.S. was ostensibly fighting the terrorist organization in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.

Conservative podcaster Peter Santilli went viral with an extended thread that he called the “most important & urgent post I have ever made” presenting the links between the Obama administration and the ISIS insurgency.

Many experts agreed that regardless of whether there were any direct ties between the two terrorist events Americans should remain extra vigilant in the days to come—and to arm themselves if possible, as copycat attacks were a strong possibility.

Update: This article originally reported that alleged would-be Trump assassin Ryan Routh visited Fort Bragg on numerous occasions. However, that has turned out to be an unconfirmed rumor originated from Twitter/X personality Tony Seruga, who has spread misinformation in the past. While it’s possible that Routh visited Fort Bragg, this article has been edited to remove that rumor until it’s corroborated by other sources.

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., promised Wednesday to “raise fresh Hell” on federal officials if they withhold the “truth” about the New Year’s Day terror attack in New Orleans.

The Louisiana senator said conflicting information is circulating about 42-year-old suspect Shamsud Din Jabbar, an Army veteran who brandished an ISIS flag on the vehicle he used to drive over and murder 14 people on Bourbon Street.

Kennedy admitted he became privy to disturbing facts about the vehicular terror attack before the public and called on government officials to reveal the details to the public as soon as they can.

“Here’s what I want to ask from the federal government: Catch these people and then tell the American people the truth. Now, I don’t want you to tell us yet anything is going to interfere with the investigation. And there are things that I’ve been told that I think are true that I’m not sharing with you today because it could interfere with their investigation,” Kennedy said during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

He continued, “But after we get to the bottom of this, they need to tell the American people the truth, and the people in New Orleans the truth, and the people of America the truth.”

Kennedy added that he will “chase” down federal officials “like they stole Christmas” when it comes time for them to tell Americans what they know.

“I will promise you this: I will, when it is appropriate in this investigation is complete, you will find out what happened and who was responsible, or I will raise fresh hell and I will chase those in the federal government who are responsible for telling us what happened like they stole Christmas,” he said.

After plowing over his victims in an attack the New York Times reported was not planned alone, Jabbar died in a gunfight with police. The deceased terrorist had reportedly “pledged allegiance to ISIS” in various videos posted on Facebook the night before the attack, law enforcement officials said.

A black female FBI agent wearing a nose ring falsely claimed early on that Jabbar’s attack was “not a terrorist event,” contradicting later reporting. Social media users blasted her as a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) employee unqualified for her position.

Kennedy appeared on Fox News Wednesday evening where he was asked about the potential of other terror attacks on major American cities.

“I can’t answer that. I can, but I won’t,” he told Special Report fill-in anchor Aishah Hasnie.

A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside a Trump Hotel in Las Vegas later Wednesday, sparking concerns that the incident was related to the terror attack in New Orleans. Seven victims were reportedly injured in the explosion and the driver of the vehicle was found dead, according to KTNV.

The suspect in the Cybertruck explosion, 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, reportedly rented his vehicle from Turo — the same company where Jabbar rented the Ford pickup truck he used to drive over New Years’ revelers in Louisiana. Livelsberger was also reportedly an Army veteran who served at the same military base as the New Orleans terrorist, DailyMail reported.

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) Comedian Whitney Cummings left CNN’s New Year’s Eve co-hosts speechless Tuesday night as she ripped on legacy media with a series of jokes on topics avoided by mainstream reporters and pundits.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen remained silent as Cummings let loose with jokes about President-elect Donald Trump’s would-be assassin and the mysterious death of former President Barack Obama’s private chef.

“The point is, I think we all agree on a lot of things. And since I only have one minute left live on establishment media, why don’t we just say a bunch of things that we know they’ll never cover. Okay? Ready, go,” the female comedian said as her segment was running out of time.

Cummings quickly shoved her microphone in Cohen’s face and frantically looked around after saying, “Trump’s shooter didn’t have any silverware in his house and no one thought that was weird?”

“Are we still rolling?” she asked. “The crown prince of Saudi Arabia put money into Disney. So just know there won’t be any girl characters in the next Cars movie.”

Cohen cracked a smile as the comedian called out the corrupt, leftist Walt Disney Company.

“Are we still rolling? This is wild,” Cummings said as Cohen burst into laughter.

Cummings next sounded off about the drowning death of Tafari Campbell, Obama’s chef, in July 2023. Speculation swirled after the name of Campbell’s fellow paddleboarder was omitted from a Martha’s Vineyard police report, and concern grew as it emerged that U.S. Secret Service boats mysteriously stopped working when they had to search for the chef.

“Why have so many presidents’ chefs died? Weird,” the comedian said, seemingly referencing the Obama story that since disappeared from headlines.

She continued, “Boy Scott’s of America. They renamed itself Scouting America. You know who else changed their name? Sean Combs. Just saying. Let’s learn something in 2025.”

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, hit back Monday against a doubtful Democrat congresswoman who suggested he “doesn’t know what he’s doing.”

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said Saturday on MSNBC’s Alex Whitt Reports that Homan, who served under both the Obama administration and the first Trump term, lacks the experience to address the border crisis.

“We have someone who doesn’t know what he’s doing. You have Trump that goes out there, him and his minions, who say things like ‘you know what, ‘We’re only get rid of the bad ones,’ right?” Crockett said, adding that “there will be a rude awakening on both sides.”

Two days later, Homan took to Newsmax and slammed Crockett for criticizing his experience, adding that the “rude awakening” she spoke of was what elected Trump to a second term.

“Well, look, I forgot more about this issue than she’ll ever know,” Homan said. “I mean, for God’s sake, I’ve been doing it for 34 years, But look, there has been a rude awakening.”

Trump’s border czar pick added, “That rude awakening was the November election. That was a rude awakening.”

Homan did not hold back, next stating that Americans “are sick of an open border.” He mentioned the many women raped and murdered by illegal migrants to make the point that the incoming Trump administration will not tolerate foreign criminals harming innocent U.S. citizens.

“Look, I don’t know who this lady is. Apparently, she’s not real smart, but she can say what she wants,” Homan said of Crockett.

He continued, “President Trump is going to secure this border and save lives just not of Americans, but of aliens, too.”

Video Shows Lego Display Fall, Injuring Multiple New Years’ Revelers

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) Multiple injuries were reported after a New Years’ Eve ballon drop malfunction led to a Lego display falling on a crowd of families Tuesday at arcade in Peabody, Massachusetts.

Video shows the 12-foot-tall brick display topple from the second floor onto “Noon Years’ Eve” attendees at the In the Game arcade on Lowell Street, injuring 10 people, according to NBC Boston. Some attendees reportedly screamed as balloons and the Legos rained down on the early 2025 celebration.

The Peabody Police Department confirmed the incident Tuesday in a Facebook post.

“Earlier today, a display was pulled down by balloons attached to it, causing it to fall. Ten individuals sustained minor injuries. Eight were transported to the hospital for treatment, while two refused medical transport,” the police department said.

All 10 victims reportedly suffered minor injuries as the Lego display, depicting a video game arcade machine, fell, Peabody Fire Chief John Dowling said. He added that eight victims were taken to the hospital, while two refused to go for treatment.

Five of those injured were children, NBC Boston reported.

Keegan Oblenes, a 13-year-old present at the time of the incident, said he was initially unaware anyone suffered injuries.

“I didn’t know anyone was hurt until after,” the teenager told the outlet. “Then I was sort of worried and everybody started cleaning out and then an ambulance showed up. And a fire truck. And then the stretcher came out.”

Firefighters believed Tuesday afternoon that kids pulling the netting of the balloons caused the collapse, according to the outlet.

“I don’t think they’ve done it many times before and just, things happen and thankfully it wasn’t bad,” Deputy Fire Chief Dan Dean said.

Suspected Terror Attack on Bourbon St. Leaves 10 Dead on New Year’s Eve

(Headline USA)  A suspected terrorist driving a white pickup truck raced into a crowd of New Orleans revelers early on New Year’s Day, killing 10 people and injuring at least 30 others.

The culprit was killed in a firefight with police following the attack around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday along Bourbon Street in the city’s bustling French Quarter, the FBI said.

After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver emerged from the truck and open fire on responding officers, New Orleans police said.

Officers returned fire, striking and killing the driver, police said. Two officers were shot and are in stable condition.

Reports indicated that the culprit, who appeared to be wearing military fatigues, may have had accomplices, including at least one other individual who crossed the border at Eagle Pass, Texas in November.

The white pickup truck used in the attack had Texas license plates.

Speculation also surrounded an object affixed to the back of the truck that appeared, to some, to ressemble an ISIS flag.

At a news conference, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell described the killings as a “terrorist attack” and the city’s police chief said the act was clearly intentional.

Police Commissioner Anne Kirkpatrick said the driver was “hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did.”

“It was very intentional behavior. This man was trying to run over as many people as he could,” Kirkpatrick said.

FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Alethea Duncan said officials were investigating the at least one suspected improvised explosive device at the scene.

The area is known as one of the largest New Year’s Eve destinations.

Crowds in the city were ballooning in anticipation of Wednesday night’s Sugar Bowl college football playoff game at the nearby Superdome between Georgia and Notre Dame.

Kirkpatrick said police officers would work to ensure safety at the Sugar Bowl, indicating that the game would go on as scheduled.

Kevin Garcia, 22, told CNN that he saw a truck slamming into people on a sidewalk and heard gunshots.

“A body came flying at me,” he said.

Whit Davis told the network that he heard people yelling and running to the back as he was leaving a nightclub.

“When they finally let us out of the club, police waved us where to walk and were telling us to get out of the area fast. I saw a few dead bodies they couldn’t even cover up and tons of people receiving first aid,” said Davis, 22.

The injured were taken to five hospitals, the city’s emergency preparedness department said.

The attack is the latest example of a vehicle being used as a weapon to carry out mass violence, a trend that has alarmed law enforcement officials and that can be difficult to protect against.

A 50-year-old Saudi doctor plowed into a Christmas market teeming with holiday shoppers in the German city of Magdeburg last month, killing four women and a 9-year-old boy.

A man who drove his SUV through a Christmas parade in suburban Milwaukee in 2021 is serving a life sentence after a judge rejected arguments from him and his family that mental illness drove him to do it. Six people were killed.

An Islamic extremist was sentenced last year to 10 life sentences for killing eight people with a truck on a bike path in Manhattan on Halloween in 2017.

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) President-elect Donald Trump took his final questions of 2024 Tuesday night from the red carpet of a New Years’ Eve gala held at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Reporters pelted Trump with inquiries relating to his endorsement of House Speaker Mike Johnson, the late Jimmy Carter and his warnings that Islamic terrorist group Hamas release hostages taken during the Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel.

“We’re just going to have a great nation again. We’re going to bring it back to it, better than it ever was,” Trump told the press, adding that “amazing things” are to come “fast.”

When asked about his New Years’ resolutions, Trump told reporters that all he wants for 2025 is for “everybody to be happy, healthy and well.”

Incoming First Lady Melania Trump stood beside her husband as he spoke to the press. She and the president-elect, dressed in a black-and-white suit, made a grand entrance to the tune of elegant classical music.

Others in attendance at the Republican’s New Year’s Eve party included incoming first sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk arrived with his young son on his shoulders, and popular Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was also spotted at the 2025 celebration.

 

Lara Trump, the president-elect’s daughter-in-law and former Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair, performed musician Tom Petty’s hit song “I Won’t Back Down” on stage at the event.

On his endorsement of Johnson, Trump said, “He’s the one that can win right now. People like him. Almost everybody likes him.”

The president-elect told reporters that he does plan to attend Carter’s funeral on Jan. 9, but refused to disclose whether he spoke to the 39th president’s family.

Answering a question about the war at the Gaza Strip, Trump said Hamas “better let the hostages come back soon.”

On stage, Trump told party attendees that his administration will do a “great job” during his second term. He said America will “be better than ever before.”

CNN Host Hacks Up a Lung Drinking on New Year’s Eve

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) CNN special coverage co-host Andy Cohen nearly coughed up a lung Tuesday night while taking shots hosting the network’s New Years’ Eve broadcast from Times Square.

Video shows CNN host Anderson Cooper and Cohen holding shot glasses before they each downed shots live on air in New York City.

“Cheers,” Cohen said with a smile before ingesting the alcohol, which immediately prompted him to recoil with a scrunched up face as Cooper took his shot on a delay.

The Anderson Cooper 360 anchor swallowed his shot and paused before squirming, twitching and making several grossed-out mouth sounds. Cohen crouched down as he tried to recover, then sprung back up and revealed the two men shared shot glasses.

“By the way, you said you have a cough. I think I’m gonna get it because I’m going to be drinking out of your glass all day,” Cohen said to the previously COVID-conscious newscaster.

Cooper appeared to be in his own world as Cohen apologized for the troublesome shots. The CNN host commented, “That hurt,” before frantically wiping his hand on his co-host’s coat.

Cohen watched as Cooper continued to freak out, then he let out a hardy cough.

“Oh Lord,” Cooper said, watching Cohen struggle to stop coughing.

In a later segment from CNN’s New Years’ Eve coverage, comedian Ron Wood Jr. refused a tequila shot from Cooper and Cohen, saying “the last black man to drink on this network got fired.”

Cooper and Cohen chipperly approached Wood Jr., who was accompanied by Michael Ian Black and Amber Ruffin, and they both asked if the former Daily Show correspondent would like some alcohol. Wood Jr. referenced former CNN host Don Lemon in his refusal, adding that he would “just keep it with water right now.”

“Are you live-streaming on your Instagram? I love it,” an apparently inebriated Cohen said in response.

The relationship between Harris and the wife of 82-year-old President Joe Biden has “at times been frosty” in private meetings, sources familiar with the post-election tension told the Wall Street Journal in a report published Monday.

Jill Biden has reportedly extended her icicles to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, who the outlet reported equally received the ire of the Bidens.

After his disastrous CNN debate performance in late June exposed the extent of his cognitive decline, Biden succumbed to a weeks-long pressure campaign by dropping his reelection bid and endorsing his vice president. At the time, multiple outlets reported that Jill Biden was a major force pushing her husband to run for a second term.

White House aides reportedly described the final days of lame duck Biden’s presidency as “depressing” and “draining,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

On Election Day, Jill Biden wore a bright red pantsuit to cast her ballot — an apparent jab at Harris and the Democrats, as that is the color most closely associated with Republican Party. The photo went viral, with many social media users suggesting the first lady’s MAGA-like look was no accident.

During a Veteran’s Day memorial service, video shows Harris uncomfortably seated beside Jill Biden. The tension between the two was palpable as both women appeared to avoid engaging with each other.

Not only did the Democrat first lady offer warm reception as Trump and Biden met in November to discuss a peaceful transfer of power, but she also appeared to mock Harris’s “joy” campaign slogan weeks later during remarks at a White House Christmas event.

Jill Biden’s dislike for Harris became apparent after the vice president, previously a Democrat primary challenger of Biden in 2020, suggested Biden was racist during a televised debate.

In a group call one week after the viral exchange, Jill Biden reportedly told Harris to “go f**k” herself, according to Politico.

“With what he cares about, what he fights for, what he’s committed to, you get up there and call him a racist without basis? Go f**k yourself,” Jill Biden raged.

“My message to my younger self would just be like, ‘You know who you are,’ and, ‘Please embrace that,'” Page stated.

The ACLU praised Page’s video.

“Elliot Page said it best: Trans people know who we are, and we should be free to embrace our authentic selves,” the union posted alongside the video.

Page continued to discuss how there is nothing wrong with being transgender and implied it is just other people not understanding.

“And so, I guess to my younger self, I’d say that discomfort and that pain you’re feeling—that is not yours, that is theirs,” Page added.

The Umbrella Academy actor said the transgender journey will lead to “happiness.”

Page added “to just keep going on the journey of embracing who you truly are, and that’s what’s going to lead you to happiness.”

Social media users blasted Page’s video regarding being transgender.

“Happiness? Is that why every photo of her now looks like she’s either clinically depressed or her soul has been hollowed out?” one user asked.

Another stated Page has no business speaking to children.

“Don’t let actual demons from hell speak to your children,” the user posted.

The transgender debate remains a hot button issue.

Disney was the latest to pull back and canceled a transgender storyline in a new Pixar show coming out on Disney+ called Win or Lose.

The move sparked ex employees to complain and express sadness over the shelved episode.

A Disney spokesperson stated the company “recognize[d] that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”
