Edu. Dept. Hits Liberty w/ Obamaesque $14M Fine over Crime Stats

(Virginia’s Liberty University has been fined $14 million for allegedly failing to report campus crime statistics.

“The university did not meet its agreed-upon regulatory responsibilities in numerous and serious ways,” according to a report from the Department of Education. “Such failures call the willingness and the ability of the university to meet its obligations to its students, employees, the campus community, and the department into serious question.”

The DOE delivered its largest fine for violating the Clery Act, requiring higher education institutions to “produce and distribute Annual Security Reports containing their campus crime statistics,” following an investigation that included allegations that it mishandled of victims of sexual assault.

Multiple areas of “noncompliance were identified” in the findings, the DOE claimed, going as far as to say campus community members were subjected to considerable “harm” as a result of the violations.

“This finding is supported by the numerous and serious deficiencies identified in this report,” the DOE said. “It must be noted that many of these violations and their impacts contributed to, and in some cases caused, significant harm to members of the campus community.”

The harassment of the school, one of just a handful nationwide known for its pro-Christian and conservative leanings, was reminiscent of the Obama-era mandates deployed by the DOE, in coordination with the Justice Department, under Attorney General Eric Holder.

The rules threatened schools into compliance with strict policies that intruded into many aspects of campus culture previously left up to the schools themselves, giving the perception that the government was seeking to interfere and exert pressure on campus culture as part of a broader effort to indoctrinate students.

Among the alarming travesties were new campus bylaws that removed due process for male students accused of rape, sometimes leaving their academic careers in limbo, even over spurious and unproven allegations.

Notably, one such case promoted by the DOJ’s Civil Rights arm became a cover-story for Rolling Stone magazine recounting horrific stories of gang rape in a University of Virginia fraternity house as revealed by a profile subject named “Jackie.”

Unfortnuately, the damning account proved to be entirely fabricated. The fraternity and an administrator smeared in the story sued for libel, winning significant settlements.

Liberty, located about an hour’s drive southwest of U.Va., in Lynchburg, was founded in 1971 by Jerry Falwell Sr. and has been considered to have one of the safest campuses in the country. The university has about 16,000 students on campus and enrollment inclusive of online exceeding 135,000.

Rep. Massie to Bring Julian Assange’s Brother to Biden’s State of the Union

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Thanks to Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., President Joe Biden will be looking at Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s brother when he gives the State of the Union address on Thursday night.

Massie signaled Tuesday on Twitter that he’s brining Assange’s brother, Gabriel Shipton, with him to sit in the House gallery during Biden’s address.

Massie’s move comes as Assange faces extradition from the UK to the U.S. to stand trial for allegedly violating the Espionage Act—charges that stem from him publishing leaked records about U.S. war crimes.

Assange had his final appeal hearing last month. Two High Court judges said on Feb. 21 that they would take time to consider their verdict after a two-day hearing in which Assange’s lawyers argued sending him to the United States would risk a “flagrant denial of justice.”

According to Assange’s wife, Stella Assange, the judges could render their decision within weeks.

Massie has been one of the most vocal defenders of Assange. He and James McGovern, D-Mass., have repeatedly called for the Biden administration to end its prosecution Assange. The two congressmen circulated a letter to their colleagues about the matter last October.

The letter reportedly implores House members to “strongly encourage the Biden administration to withdraw the U.S. extradition request currently pending against Australian publisher Julian Assange and halt all prosecutorial proceedings against him as soon as possible.”

“Mr. Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, faces multiple charges under the Espionage Act due to his role in publishing classified documents about the U.S. State Department, Guantánamo Bay, and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,” the letter reportedly states.

Assange has been detained on remand in London since 2019.

Australia’s government has also called for the U.S. to stop its prosecution of Assange. Secretary of State Antony Blinken rejected that call in July.

Meanwhile, the FBI is reportedly still investigating Assange.

Journalist James Ball wrote in Rolling Stone in July that Biden’s Justice Department and the FBI are pursing “vague threats and pressure tactics” to pressure British journalists to cooperate with their prosecution of Assange.

Assange was something of a darling among liberals until around 2016, when Wikileaks published more than 20,000 Democratic National Committee emails, exposing corruption in the Hillary Clinton campaign. Because this was perceived to be helpful to Trump, liberals turned on Assange and supported his prosecution

Haley Expected to Exit Race after Trump’s Near Sweep of Super Tuesday

(Headline USA) Nikki Haley will suspend her presidential campaign Wednesday after being soundly defeated across the country on Super Tuesday, according to people familiar with her decision, leaving Donald Trump as the last remaining major candidate for the 2024 Republican nomination.

The former president is on track to reach the necessary 1,215 delegates to clinch the Republican nomination later this month.

Three people with direct knowledge who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly confirmed Haley’s decision ahead of an announcement by her scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Haley is not planning to endorse Trump in her announcement, according to the people with knowledge of her plans. Instead, she is expected to encourage him to earn the support of the coalition of moderate Republicans and independent voters who supported her.

Nonetheless, a resounding win on Super Tuesday for Trump appeared to put not only Trump on notice, but also his once and presumptive future rival, President Joe Biden, 81.

Biden appeared unhinged in a White House rant in which he acknowledged the serious threat he now faces of political defeat.

“If Donald Trump returns to the White House, all of this progress is at risk,” claimed a statement from Biden, who likely was not awake at the time, after the returns made clear that both would move on to their likely nominations. “He is driven by grievance and grift, focused on his own revenge and retribution, not the American people.”

Despite the near sweeps, Haley was able to capture Vermont, along with Washington, D.C., which she won over the weekend.

Biden, meanwhile, lost his primary in American Samoa to Jason Palmer, a venture capitalist and political neophyte from Baltimore who spent the past week campaigning there, the Huffpost reported.

Palmer’s victory put him next in line as the most plausible candidate should fate befall Biden ahead of the August convention in Chicago.

Another of the top contenders who was seen as a likely replacement, Michelle Obama, reiterated in a statement released by her office that she would not run, according to NBC News.

Haley appeared, however, to be on the fence initially over whether she would exit the race against her former boss Trump, for whom she served as U.N. ambassador.

Early reports signaled she had no intention of dropping out, an apparent response to calls from Trump and his allies for the party to join in support of him.

“Unity is not achieved by simply claiming ‘we’re united,'” said a statement released by Haley spokesperson Olivia Perez–Cubas, according to Politico .

“Today, in state after state, there remains a large block [sic] of Republican primary voters who are expressing deep concerns about Donald Trump,” the statement continued. “That is not the unity our party needs for success. Addressing those voters’ concerns will make the Republican Party and America better.”

Many appeared to suspect that the vast majority of Haley’s support, particularly in Vermont, came from Democrats who had crossed over in the open primaries.

Haley’s allies claimed that she exceeded most of the political world’s expectations by making it as far as she did, celebrating the fact that she became the first woman in history to win two GOP primaries. Her campaign said it raised more than $12 million in February alone.

Nonetheless, Haley’s defeat marks a painful, if predictable, blow to those voters, along with her coalition of NeverTrump donors and Establishment officials, who either opposed Trump and his fiery brand of “Make America Great Again” politics or were deeply invested, financially, in the failure of his populist policies.

Haley herself faced considerable criticism for being a neocon puppet of the military-industrian complex, given her own personal ties or investments with defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.

She was a staunch defender of U.S. support for the war in Ukraine, which put her out of step with many in the party. Trump has claimed he could make short work of ending the bloody, two-year-long war between Russia and Ukraine, stemming from a decade of tension, by brokering a peace negotiation.

As she campaigned across early states, Haley often complimented some of Trump’s foreign policy achievements but gradually inserted more critiques into her campaign speeches. She argued Trump’s hyperfocus on trade with China led him to ignore security threats posed by a major U.S. rival. She warned that weak support for Ukraine would “only encourage” China to invade Taiwan, even as many Republican voters questioned whether the U.S. should send aid to Ukraine.

In November, Haley—an accountant who had consistently touted her lean campaign—won the backing of the political arm of the powerful Koch network. AFP Action blasted early-state voters with mailers and door-knockers, committing its nationwide coalition of activists and virtually unlimited funds to helping Haley defeat Trump.

But she would lose both Iowa and New Hampshire, and then refused to participate in Nevada’s caucuses, arguing the state’s rules strongly favored Trump.

She instead ran in the state’s primary, which didn’t count for any delegates for the nomination. She still finished a distant second to “ none of these candidates,” an option Nevada offers to voters dissatisfied with their choices and used by many Trump supporters to oppose her.

She had long vowed to win South Carolina but backed off of that pledge as the primary drew nearer. She crisscrossed the state that twice elected her governor on a bus tour, holding smaller events than Trump’s less frequent rallies and suggesting she was better equipped to beat Biden than him.

She lost South Carolina by 20 points and Michigan three days later by 40. The Koch brothers’ AFP Action announced after her South Carolina loss that it would stop organizing for her.

Haley has made clear she doesn’t want to serve as Trump’s vice president or run on a third-party ticket arranged by the group No Labels.

Yet, in recent days, she backed off a pledge to endorse the eventual Republican nominee that was required of anyone participating in party debates.

“I think I’ll make what decision I want to make,” she told NBC’s Meet the Press.

However she leaves the race with an elevated national profile that could help her in a future presidential run if she can, once again, reconcile herself with Trump-backing conservatives who have grown deeply suspicious of her politics.

Haitian Prime Minister Went MIA Amid Biden’s $100 Million Aid Pledge

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry reportedly landed in Puerto Rico on Tuesday after being denied entry to the neighboring Dominican Republic, according to local media reports. Henry’s whereabouts were unknown for several hours on Monday and Tuesday.

Haiti is currently facing armed conflicts between the national police and gangs threatening genocide if Henry refuses to resign. Just days ago, Henry visited Kenya to seek a multinational intervention in addressing the crisis in the poverty-stricken Caribbean country.

President Joe Biden’s pledge of $100 million to support such intervention has not materialized, as Kenya, the lead country in the effort, has not solidified the plans.

While foreign countries become reluctant to join the tentative intervention, Haitian mobster Jimmy “Barbecue” Chérizier has seized control of parts of the country, releasing at least 4,000 jailed criminals from two of its largest jails.

Henry’s arrival in Puerto Rico followed the halt of air travel between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, prompted by the former’s imposition of a state of emergency in response to the violent conflict.

The Haitian prime minister’s inability to enter the country poses concerning questions about whether Haiti is on the brink of becoming a failed state, worsening the dire conditions in the country.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken assured the U.S. commitment to provide logistical support, intelligence, airlift, communications, and medical aid to the multinational effort in Haiti, as reported by PBS last year. Just last week, Blinken urged foreign leaders to bolster these efforts.

The conflict arises amid nationwide concerns over security at the southern border, where several Haitian nationals have sought entry into the U.S.

The Biden administration designated Temporary Protected Status for some eligible Haitians seeking to leave the county. However, these protections face growing scrutiny following high-profile criminal cases allegedly committed by individuals from countries receiving TPS.

One such country is Venezuela, currently the recipient of TPS, with several of its citizens facing accusations of violent crimes in the U.S.

For instance, 26-year-old Jose Ibarra, a Venezuelan national, is currently facing murder charges related to the brutal killing of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley in Georgia.

House GOP Accuses Fed. Prison of Retaliating against Biden Whistleblower

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A trio of lawmakers is investigating allegations of retaliation against Jason Galanis—a former business partner of Hunter Biden and Devon Archer—who provided damning testimony against the Biden family.

Galanis is currently serving a 14-year sentence for an American Indian tribe criminal case, also tied to Archer but unrelated to the Biden family. On Feb. 23, Galanis provided testimony to congressional investigators from prison, exposing the alleged retaliation.

During his conversation with House investigators in February, Galanis informed House Republicans that the Federal Bureau of Prisons had been subjecting him to a “pattern of retribution” aimed at blocking his testimony to House Republicans leading the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden.

In a letter addressed to Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Colette Peters and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Negar Tekei, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, House Oversight Chairman James Comer and House Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith demanded a transcribed interview and documents related to Galanis.

“The Committees are examining those allegations and will take seriously any attempt by BOP to obstruct the Committees’ inquiry, including by retaliating against witnesses,” the three congressional leaders wrote.

One of the alleged retaliation stems from a home confinement request submitted by Galanis.

As reported by the New York Post, Galanis secured home confinement under the CARES Act. Nevertheless, the approval from California and Florida was swiftly overturned on the day Archer received a subpoena from the House.

Galanis disclosed to House Republicans that a “high-ranking” prison official claimed the U.S. Southern District of New York had “aggressively” intervened with the Bureau of Prisons to thwart the release.

According to the lawmakers, Galanis accused the federal prison of singling him out for “unequal treatment” after he told congressional investigators that both Hunter Biden and Archer are “complicit” in the same acts that landed him in jail.

Alleged ‘Psyop’ Taylor Swift Told Fans How to Vote on Super Tuesday

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Music superstar Taylor Swift may have influenced the Super Tuesday primaries after directing her 280 million Instagram followers on how to vote.

“I wanted to remind you guys to vote the people who most represent YOU into power. If you haven’t already, make a plan to vote today,” Swift claimed in a Tuesday Instagram post. “Whether you’re in Tennessee or somewhere else in the US, check your polling places and times at vote.org.”

Swift’s comments, though not backing any specific party, come just weeks after rampant social media rumors suggested her involvement in an alleged “psychological operation” aimed at influencing American voters to support President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign.

While Swift endorsed Biden in the 2020 election, triggering 35,000 new voter registrations, she has not publicly any candidate in 2024—at least not for now.

The “psy-op” allegations prompted a response from the Pentagon. “As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off,” Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh claimed, alluding to Swift’s Shake It Off.

Singh also referenced another Swift song, I Wish You Would, urging Congress to swiftly pass a supplemental funding bill.

“But that does highlight that we still need Congress to approve our supplemental budget request as Swift-ly as possible so we can be out of the woods with potential fiscal concerns,” Singh added.

The rumors originated when Fox News host Jesse Watters suggested the Biden re-election campaign might enlist Swift for a get-out-the-vote campaign.

Watters specifically cited the New York Times’s reporting that Biden aides were eyeing Swift as a potential campaign surrogate.

Such rumors appeared to ignite a response from Trump, who scolded Swift as “ungrateful,” after he signed the Music Modernization Act, which allegedly benefited Swift.

“There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

Cuomo Subpoenaed for COVID-Era Nursing-Home Deaths

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been ordered to appear before House investigators zeroing in on the infamous scandal involving nursing home deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic subpoenaed Cuomo as part of their investigation into the deaths of elderly individuals in New York nursing homes, which occurred following an order by the then-governor.

“Cuomo implemented nursing home policies that had deadly consequences for New York’s most vulnerable population,” Subcommittee Chairman Brad Wenstrup wrote in a press statement.

He added: “Not only did the former Governor put the elderly in harm’s way, but he also attempted to cover-up his failures by hiding the true nursing home death rate.”

House Republicans have also demanded that former Cuomo officials, including infamous aide Melissa DeRosa, appear for transcribed interviews.

DeRosa privately told Democratic lawmakers that the Cuomo administration “froze” data to avoid scrutiny from federal prosecutors and then-President Donald Trump, the New York Post reported in February 2021.

Despite being hailed as a Coronavirus hero initially, Cuomo’s fall from grace commenced shortly after he ordered nursing homes to admit individuals infected with Coronavirus, despite the raised risks and criticisms at the time.

More than 15,000 nursing home residents died due to COVID-related deaths after Cuomo’s order.

Even worse, a damning report by the state’s attorney general revealed that Cuomo undercounted death data by nearly 50 percent, in what appeared to be an attempt to conceal disturbing facts about the order.

Wenstrup said Cuomo attempted to hide data to save his political career and demanded he face tough questions about this order.

“Cuomo owes answers to the 15,000 families who lost loved ones in New York nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the subcommittee chairman wrote.

Cuomo resigned from office after accusations that he subjected several staffers to sexual harassment, according to the state’s attorney general, Letitia James. Since his departure, Cuomo has faced scathing questions about his administration and policies related to the handling of the pandemic.

Wenstrup clarified that the purpose of the subpoena is to learn the circumstances behind Cuomo’s order to ensure that “fatal mistakes never happen again.”

He continued, “It is well past time for Cuomo to stop dodging accountability to Congress and start answering honestly to the American people.”

House Republicans launched the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic once they clinched the congressional majority following the midterm elections in 2022. They aimed to seek answers on government blunders in response to COVID-19 and are also investigating the origins of the virus.

Did Ousted Soros Prosecutor Ransack Office Post Election Defeat?

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Commonwealth’s Attorney Buta Biberaj, who faced backlash for indicting a concerned father whose daughter was sexually assaulted by a transgender individual, is back in the headlines after a humiliating defeat in November 2023.

Biberaj’s former office is now missing historic photos and portraits that were previously housed at the commonwealth attorney’s office while she was in office, as reported by ABC 7 News on Tuesday.

Among these historical photos were portraits of former Virginia Commonwealth attorneys dating back to the 1800s. To make matters worse, there are no existing copies of these photos, according to the outlet.

Incumbent Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney Bob Anderson, a Republican, raised the alarm about the missing photos in a statement released Tuesday.

“The portraits and photographs of the previous commonwealth’s attorneys are a part of Loudoun County history,” Anderson said. “The county needs to have them back so that they can be appropriately preserved.”

These revelations came after Anderson informed Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet about the missing photos in an email, as reported by ABC 7.

Specifically, Anderson inquired with Hemstreet about whether the administrative body had “framed photographs of former commonwealth’s attorneys.”

Hemstreet responded, saying: “It is our understanding that these photographs had been displayed in a foyer or lobby area of the previous office.”

He added, “As part of the inquiry from Mr. Anderson and Mr. Clemens, the County was advised that Mr. Anderson’s staff believed that the photographs had been mistakenly sent to the County.”

In the lengthy email, Hemstreet deliberated on whether the photos were inadvertently placed on sale but noted that the county “does not have any way of ensuring that” previously disposed boxes contained the missing photos of the former attorneys.

It is not immediately clear whether there is any criminality in the removal of the photos.

Biberaj faced nationwide criticism when her office pressed charges against Scott Smith, a Loudoun County father who disrupted a Loudoun County School Board meeting following a sexual assault on his daughter by a transgender individual.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin granted a pardon to Smith on Sept. 10, 2023, and despite securing financial support from Democratic billionaire George Soros, Biberaj lost her re-election bid.

Boebert Threatens Recall of Colorado Sec. of State after Unanimous SCOTUS Ruling

(Headline USA) Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., and several other Colorado Republicans on Tuesday called for a recall of George-Soros-funded Secretary of State Jena Griswold after the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously overturned her effort to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s ballot, Newsweek reported.

Griswold made the call following the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that Trump was disqualified from seeking the White House because of his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. However, she is widely suspected to have colluded with left-wing activist groups, including Free Speech for People, who organized the spurious lawfare attack.

The U.S. Supreme Court rendered a 9-0 decision on Monday that Colorado’s ruling was unconstitutional and that state officials did not have the authority to disqualify candidates without congressional action.

Griswold bemoaned the ruling as a “disappointment” during a Monday appearance on MSNBC.

“I do believe that states should be able, under our Constitution, to bar oath-breaking insurrectionist,” she said.

Ultimately, this decision leaves open the door for Congress to act to pass authorizing legislation,” she added. “But we know that Congress is a nearly nonfunctioning body, so ultimately, it will be up to the American voters to save our democracy in November.”

In a letter to Griswold, Boebert, Colorado GOP Chairman Dave Williams, Vice Chairwoman Hope Scheppelman and GOP Secretary Anna Ferguson threatened to launch a recall campaign against her.

“Instead of fulfilling her oath of office to encourage Coloradans to make their voices heard, she abused her office for selfish political decisions to rig the primary election against President Donald J. Trump,” they wrote.

Griswold’s political gambit ultimately created “a stain on our Republic and [was] an outright embarrassment to Coloradans and Americans,” they added.

The Republicans did not say whether they would start circulating a petition to remove Griswold from office. If they do so, they must collect 621,000 signatures in order to force a recall vote.

But Boebert did clarify in a tweet that she would begin “actively building a grassroots coalition” to back a recall effort to hold Griswold accountable for her “attack” on the state’s election.

“You’re unfit,” she said to Griswold. “Time for you to be RECALLED!”

AOC Lashes Out after Being Confronted by Pro-Hamas Activists: ‘It’s F***ed Up’

(Headline USA) Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was served a taste of her own medicine when she was confronted by far-left activists protesting her refusal to call Israel’s war in Gaza a “genocide,” the Daily Beast reported.

Ocasio-Cortez was leaving a Brooklyn movie theater with her fiancé, Riley Roberts, on Monday evening when the protesters surrounded her and demanded to know why she hadn’t publicly called the conflict a “genocide.”

She accused the protesters of “lying” about her position and became visibly aggravated as they filmed the interaction.

“I need you to know this is not OK,” she snapped at one of the activists.

“It’s not OK that there’s a genocide happening and you’re not actively against it,” the protester shot back.

“I already said that it was and y’all are just gonna pretend that it wasn’t over and over again. It’s f***ed up, man,” Ocasio-Cortez railed. “And you’re not helping these people, and you’re not helping them, you’re not helping them.”

At one point, Ocasio-Cortez even got in the face of the protesters as she started to descend on an escalator.

“You’re gonna cut it … and you’re gonna clip this so that it’s completely out of context,” Ocasio–Cortez fumed about their video footage.

In October, “AOC” released a video that accused Israel of “ethnic cleansing,” even appearing to break wind at the mention of the term, as if underscoring its emphasis.

“[T]he United States has a responsibility to ensure accountability to human rights to prevent the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, and to ensure that horrors do not happen in the names of victims who do not want their [fart] tragedy used to justify further violence and injustice,” she said in the video, posted five days after the Hamas attack that left some 1,200 innocent Israelis dead and took another 200 as hostages.

Nonetheless, the New York Democrat has been far less vocal about her position on Israel’s war in Gaza than other pro-Hamas “Squad” members—most notably Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., who was the lone House lawmaker refusing to condemn the Palestinian terrorist group’s rape of Israeli women and children.

Ocasio–Cortez, on the other hand, refused to say whether she believed that calling the conflict a “genocide” was a step “too far” during an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press.

“They’re still determining [whether it’s a genocide],” she said. “But in the interim ruling, the fact that they said there’s a responsibility to prevent it, the fact that this word is even in play, the fact that this word is even in our discourse, I think, demonstrates the mass inhumanity that Gazans are facing.”
