Daniel Penny Is Acquitted in NYC Subway Chokehold Case

(Headline USA) A Marine veteran who used a chokehold on an agitated subway rider was acquitted on Monday.

A Manhattan jury delivered the verdict, clearing Daniel Penny of criminally negligent homicide in Jordan Neely’s death last year.

A more serious manslaughter charge was dismissed earlier in deliberations because the jury deadlocked on that count.

Both charges were felonies and carried the possibility of prison time.

Penny, 26, gripped Jordan Neely around the neck for about six minutes in a chokehold that other subway passengers partially captured on video.

Penny’s lawyers said he was protecting himself and other subway passengers from a volatile, mentally ill man who was making alarming remarks and gestures.

The defense also disputed a city medical examiner’s finding that the chokehold killed Neely.

Prosecutors said Penny reacted far too forcefully to someone he perceived as a peril, not a person.

There were sometimes dueling demonstrations outside the courthouse, and high-profile Republican politicians portrayed Penny as a hero while prominent Democrats attended Neely’s funeral.

The verdict capped a trial that took a tumultuous turn last Friday, when jurors said they couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict on the manslaughter charge.

The judge then dismissed it at prosecutors’ request—a rare one for prosecutors to make in the thick of a trial.

‘Red Flag’: Daughter of Tim Walz Melts Down Over Dating Fans of Joe Rogan

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) Hope Walz, the 23-year-old daughter of failed Democrat vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, posted a video rant recommending that women not date men who follow podcaster Joe Rogan on Instagram.

Limiting her options of eligible male suitors, the Minnesota governor’s daughter characterized being a fan of Rogan as a “red flag” she and her friends avoid when searching for a mate.

“A litmus test for me and my friends for like years now has been if the guy we’re talking to follows Joe Rogan on Instagram, they’re a red flag and we should probably stop talking to them,” Hope Walz said.

Hope Walz recalled that when she had ignored her instinct and continued to flirt with men who enjoy Rogan’s podcast, “it’s never ended well.”

“So yeah, I just wanted to say that I stand by that,” she added before scratching her face.

Vice President Kamala Harris refused to be interviewed by Rogan, whose interview with President-elect Donald Trump garnered millions of views within its first 24 hours.

In hindsight, Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon did not acknowledge what many criticized as a poor decision, instead opting to tease a potential interview between Rogan and Harris in the future.

Hope Walz reiterated that the first thing she and her friends do when one starts interacting with a man is to patrol who they are following on social media to scope out linkage to Rogan.

“Honestly, it’s worked out well for all of us,” she said. “Obviously, there’s been some heartbreak in there because of it or at least some disappointment, but it truly is a litmus test. And I got you ladies, you should start doing it.”

New Yorkers Revel in Murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO with Shooter Look-A-Like Contest

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) New Yorkers reveled in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Friday by participating in a shooter look-a-like contest.

An unidentified gunman shot Thompson dead early Wednesday in Midtown Manhattan, donning a black face mask and a hooded jacket. Days later, eight contestants gathered to compare cosplays of the fugitive suspect, according to the New York Post, as social media users celebrated the CEO’s murder interpreted as a criticism of insurance companies.

Dozens of bystanders judged the competition, and whoever received the most cheer was to be declared the winner, the outlet reported

“Contestant number six” won the contest by showing up dressed in a green jacket and dark face covering.

“I got no looks until I got over here and now everyone wants a picture with me,” the winner doppelgänger told the Post. He said his costume was not difficult to put together, saying, “I wear this everywhere.”

One contestant wore a large sign that read “Deny, Defend, Depose” — the words written on the actual shooter’s shell casing left behind at the scene.

Some onlookers egged the competitors on, while others were critical of them playing dress up as a murderer.

“Bro, I don’t know if you all should be doing this—but your life choices, I guess,” one bystander was heard shouting, according to the outlet.

The shooter targeted Thompson as he exited the Hilton hotel without security around 6:46 a.m. ahead of an investor meeting, the outlet reported.

Police said the suspect fled through Central Park, leaving behind a backpack containing monopoly, before exiting the New York City on a bus. Multiple photos of the suspect from surveillance cameras have since been released, including one in which he flirted with the receptionist at an Upper West Side hostel he stayed at upon entering the city.

Ted Cruz Says Syrian Revolution Could Lead to ‘Even Worse’ Leadership than Assad

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said Monday on his podcast that the fall of Syria’s president, Bashar Al-Assad, could lead to “even worse” leadership in the turbulent country.

Syrian rebels entered Damascus with no resistance from the army over the weekend, Reuters reported. They reportedly ransacked the Al-Rawda Presidential Palace while Al-Assad jetted away to Russia for safety,

On Verdict, Cruz said Russia, Iran and Islamic terrorist group Hezbollah suffered major losses following Al-Assad’s ousting.

“[Bashar Assad’s] falling is a major loss for Russia. It’s a major loss for Iran. It’s a major loss for Hezbollah, all were allies. All are seriously hurt by his falling, but the rebels who have toppled him may well be even worse,” the senator suggested. “It is radical Islamists who have been fighting against him. Many of them are remnants of Al-Qaeda, remnants of the Islamic State, and the people of Syria and Israel and America may soon find that the new leadership is even worse than the old.”

Cruz did not propel the narrative that Al-Assad’s fall would result in Syrian democracy, instead identifying that toppling dictators in the name of anti-terrorism ultimately harms Americans.

“The world is a dangerous place, and there are bad dictators, but we’ve seen a pattern for the past 20 years of Americans supporting people toppling dictators who are fighting terrorists, only to have the terrorists take over and start fighting Americans instead,” he told his listeners. “And my perspective on this is, is this good for America or not? I would say at best, it is too soon to tell.”

Cruz suggested celebrations on the streets of Syria would be short-lived, referencing the fall of Saddam Hussein and Quaddafi and even the Cuban Revolution in 1959 as historical examples.

“We have seen many, many times that revolutions of one oppressive dictator can far too often, be replaced by an even worse regime,” Cruz explained. “And so, I think this is an exceptionally dangerous time right now and it is going to be important to do everything we can to prevent chemical weapons from falling into the hands of Al-Qaeda terrorists who would use them against Americans.”

‘You Hurt Yourself’: Trump Tells ‘Meet the Press’ Host She’s Wasted Potential

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) President-elect Donald Trump told Meet the Press host Kristen Welker that she is wasting her potential as a journalist during an interview Sunday.

The NBC News host asked Trump if he thinks President Joe Biden will issue preemptive pardons to former Reps. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Adam Schiff, D-Calif., prompting the president-elect to criticize their conduct as part of the January 6 Select Committee.

“Cheney did something that’s inexcusable along with Thompson and the people on the Unselect Committee of political thugs and, you know, creeps,” he said.

Trump recalled that the January 6 Select Committee spent more than one year on testimony to collect evidence they eventually deleted and destroyed.

He suggested they did so because all signs pointed to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s guilt.

“Cheney was behind it. And so was Bennie Thompson and everybody on that committee,” Trump said as Welker tried to interject. “For what they did, honestly, they should go to jail.”

Trump recounted the alleged crimes of the January 6 Select Committee as Welker doggedly attempted to trip him up with her line of questioning.

As she brushed over Trump’s remarks with dismissive “yeahs” among other attempts at leftist spin, he stopped Welker short by directly addressing her lack of objectivity.

“You have such potential,” a calm and collected Trump told the NBC News host. “If you could be just, just non-biased… you hurt yourself so badly.”

Trump drilled into his point once again that Cheney and others at the helm of the January 6 Select Committee deleted and destroy their findings. He chided Welker for brushing over his responses to her questions.

“Kristen, if I did it, you would be standing up on that chair shouting at me. And you know what I’d do? I’d say, ‘You got me.’ They have done something so illegal,” Trump said.

In the same interview, Trump said he will be “acting very quickly” on pardons for those unlawfully prosecuted for the events of January 6, 2021.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez Announces Bid for Top Oversight Job

(Headline USA) Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced a bid Friday to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, the latest example of generational shakeup that is beginning to ripple across the Democratic Party in the wake of their election losses this year.

The New York lawmaker, who at 35 would by far be the youngest to serve in the post, threw her hat in the ring in a letter to colleagues, saying this “is not a position I seek lightly.”

“The responsibility of leading Democrats on the House Oversight Committee during Donald Trump’s second term in the White House is a profound and consequential one,” she wrote. “Now, more than ever, we must focus on the Committee’s strong history of both holding administrations accountable and taking on the economic precarity and inequality that is challenging the American way of life.”

It’s just the latest example of a generational reckoning within the party as leadership and rank-and-file members seek a new approach to governing ahead of Trump’s return to the White House.

Earlier this week Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland took on senior New York Rep. Jerry Nadler to lead the House Judiciary Committee. Nadler, 77, abandoned his bid a day later. Other top committee posts are also being contested.

To win the job Ocasio-Cortez will have to defeat Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, who is vying for the top spot after serving on the Oversight Committee for the past 16 years. The 74-year-old told reporters this week that he feels comfortable about his chances.

“We must expose and dismantle bad faith Republican efforts to promote conspiracy theories, intimidate witnesses, and undermine democratic processes,” Connolly wrote in a letter to his colleagues, announcing his bid for the job.

House Democrats are expected to begin the selection for ranking members and committee assignments next week. The party has traditionally honored the seniority system, allowing veteran members to remain in top committee posts without limit.

Treason: Biden Pledges Aid to Syria’s New Regime, Which Has Deep Links to Al-Qaeda

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) There’s a new regime in Syria after rebels toppled the country’s president, Bashar al-Assad. That leader, Abu Mohammed al-Golani, has deep ties to an Obama-era CIA operation to arm radical jihadis, which ultimately led to the ouster of the country’s president, Bashar al-Assad, over the weekend.

Throughout his rise through extremist ranks, al-Sharaa was only known by the jihadi nickname he adopted, Abu Mohammed al-Golani. His ties to al-Qaeda stretch back to 2003, when he joined insurgents battling U.S. troops in Iraq. The Syrian native was detained by the U.S. military but remained in Iraq. During that time, al-Qaida usurped like-minded groups and formed the extremist Islamic State of Iraq, led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Then civil war broke out in Syria. Around that same time, Barrack Obama launched the then-secret Operation Timber Sycamore, which entailed the CIA funneling weapons and equipment to “moderate” rebels fighting against Syria’s pro-Russian government, led by al-Assad.

As we now know, most of those “moderate” rebels turned out to be groups such as al-Qaeda’s al-Nusra Front—whose membership included none other than al-Golani.

As it became increasingly clear in the early 2010s that the CIA was arming jihadis, al-Golani rebranded his organization several times—changing it from Al Nusra to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, then Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham in an effort to obscure his al-Qaeda links.

In January 2017, Donald Trump—who famously, and accurately, accused Obama of founding ISIS due to Operation Timber Sycamor and his support for the Syrian rebels—took office. A few months later, the U.S. State Department issued a $10 million reward for his capture.

But even though he was on a U.S. State Department terror list, al-Golani operated in territory under the protection of NATO ally Turkey for much of the last decade—as noted by the Libertarian Institute’s Kyle Anzalone.

“During this period, [al-Golani’s] Idlib province was the largest safe haven for jihadists on the planet,” Anzalone wrote Monday.

Despite al-Golani’s deep ties to al-Qaeda—the organization responsible for 9/11, the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history—U.S. President Joe Biden has pledged aid to his new regime.

“The United States will support them, including through humanitarian relief,” Biden said Sunday, celebrating al-Assad’s downfall.

The mainstream media is also leaving open the possibility that al-Golani may be a changed man.

“As he entered Damascus behind his victorious fighters Sunday, [al-Golani] even dropped his nom de guerre and referred to himself with his real name, Ahmad al-Sharaa,” the Associated Press reported Monday.

“The extent of that transformation from jihadi extremist to would-be state builder is now put to the test.”

Trump Blasts FBI Director, Defends Jan. 6 Hostages in Tell-All Interview

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President-elect Donald Trump, in his first on-air interview since his 2024 landslide, did not hold back on FBI Director Christopher Wray, potential Jan. 6 pardons and his vision for retribution.

Speaking with Kristen Welker on NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump reaffirmed his intent to fire Wray: “I can’t say I’m thrilled with him. He invaded my home. I’m suing the country over it. He invaded Mar-a-Lago.”

He added, “I’m very unhappy with the things he’s done and crime is at an all-time high. Migrants are pouring into the country that are from prisons and from mental institutions as we’ve discussed.”

Trump criticized Wray for falsely claiming Thomas Matthews Crooks never shot him and was merely hit by shrapnel.

Asked if he’d fire Wray to make room for Kash Patel, Trump replied, “Well, I mean, it would sort of seem pretty obvious that if Kash gets in, he’s going to be taking somebody’s place.”

Welker asked if Trump would follow through on his pledge to investigate President Joe Biden’s alleged misconduct.

“I’m really looking to make our country successful. I’m not looking to go back into the past. I’m looking to make our country successful. Retribution will be through success,” Trump said. “If we can this country successful, that would be my greatest—that would be my greatest achievement.”

Trump’s remarks once again shut down Democratic and media’s claims that, like Biden, he’d weaponize the justice system against opponents.

On pardoning Jan. 6 protesters, Trump stated his transition team is “looking at it,” adding pardons are “most likely.”

“Those people have suffered long and hard,” Trump affirmed. “There may be some exceptions to it. I have to look. But uh you know, if somebody was radical crazy, there might be some people from Antifa there.”

He continued, “These people have suffered. Their lives have been destroyed. And yet in Portland where they burned down half the city … they don’t do anything. They attack the courthouse, federal courthouse.” Trump likened the leftist riots in Portland to “World War II,” calling out the chaos.

Trump’s remarks come just over a month before his swearing-in as the 47th president.

Lara Trump Tells Dems to Swallow Reality: Trump’s Cabinet Is Here to Stay

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Republican National Committee Co-Chair Lara Trump reminded Democrats, leftist media, and anti-MAGA zealots that President-elect Donald Trump is choosing “unconventional” Cabinet members because that is exactly what Americans voted for on Nov. 5.

Lara made the blunt declaration in an op-ed published Friday in the New York Post, scolding the left for being “naturally apoplectic about President Trump extending his unique way of running our country to his Cabinet” and other federal agencies.

“Just as they said about President Trump himself, his personnel picks have been attacked for lacking ‘traditional’ experience or having ‘unconventional’ views,” Lara wrote.

She added, “What these criticisms miss is that it was precisely because of those unconventional views and his unique resumé that Americans voted overwhelmingly to re-elect him.”

Lara emphasized that Americans “voted for a president and an administration focused on cutting through the noise and ignoring arbitrary credentials to deliver real results.”

She then turned her focus to the current administration’s Cabinet, urging Americans to evaluate the so-called expertise of its members.

“So many of Joe Biden’s nominees and staffers appeared very qualified on paper in the traditional sense of how Washington has operated — and most of these people have been, at best, incompetent or, at worst, outright destructive to our country’s stability and prosperity,” Lara wrote.

She singled out Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who “boasted a long resumé of jobs at the highest levels of our country’s security and foreign policy apparatus from the State Department to the National Security Council.”

She then lambasted Blinken’s tenure, which she argued has resulted in “global chaos and conflict, from the Middle East to Ukraine to Asia.” She also criticized DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for overseeing the illegal alien invasion at the southern border.

“We could go on, but it’s clear that the American people are fed up with what looks and sounds ‘right’ on paper; they want what works in reality, and they voted for the outside perspectives needed to take the wheel and stop driving the country — and world — off a cliff,” Lara wrote.

She concluded, “Nearly 80 million Americans made it clear last month which option they’d prefer.”

Lara’s op-ed comes after a majority of Americans voted on Nov. 5 to send Trump back to the White House for a second non-consecutive term.

Following the election, nearly all of Trump’s Cabinet picks have faced smear campaigns and media attacks targeting their credentials and character. The accusations, most of which rely on dubious anonymous sources, have included claims of sexual harassment, alcohol use, and various other negative allegations.

Jill Biden Salivates Over Trump During Viral Notre Dame Encounter

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) First Lady Jill Biden couldn’t get enough of President-elect Donald Trump during the Saturday reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in France, prompting many to jest that she may have secretly voted for him in the Nov. 5 presidential election.

The viral exchange, as captured in videos and photos, occurred as Trump and Jill waited for French First Lady Brigitte Macron to take her seat, which was placed between the two American leaders.

This marked the second time Jill was all smiles for the president-elect, following President Joe Biden’s invitation for Trump to visit the White House after the 2024 election.

On X, many users suggested that Jill has a fascination with Trump, especially after the Democratic Party backstabbed Biden and forced him to exit the race earlier in the election season, according to a list of reactions first compiled by the New York Post.

“I just want to find someone that looks at me the way Jill Biden looks at Trump,” user Drefanzor Memes quipped.

User Clandestine joked, “First Lady, Jill Biden, seen fawning over Hitler at the reopening of Notre Dame!” The comment mocked Democrats and legacy media, who had spent the election season unsuccessfully trying to conflate Trump with dictators.

Journalist Kyle Becker echoed this sentiment: “Look at how fast everyone warmed up to ‘fascist dictator’ Donald Trump. Not even Dr. Jill Biden can resist this world class charmer.”

RedState writer Bonchie humorously concluded that Jill “voted for him,” adding, “It’s settled science.”

Another user, Avi Kay, contrasted a photo of a grim-faced Jill sitting next to outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris with the viral Notre Dame image. Reacting to the side-by-side photo, Kay questioned, “Who did Jill Biden vote for?”

The Jill-Harris photo went viral last month, fueling rumors that the two women were not on speaking terms after Harris inherited the Democratic presidential nomination.

Other users shared AI-generated videos of Trump and Jill, with one of them showing them sharing kisses and another showing them in a fistfight.

Jill’s alleged adoration of Trump was first revealed when she wore all red while heading to the polls on Nov. 5.
