Texas Advocate Calls for Probe into Federally Funded Abortions for Unaccompanied Minors

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) A Texas advocate is calling on the incoming Trump administration and Congress to revisit federal policy that uses taxpayer money to fund and facilitate abortions for unaccompanied alien children illegally brought into the U.S.

The U.S. Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement, which is responsible for the oversight and care of UACs, has come under extensive scrutiny for a range of issues, The Center Square has reported. These include not vetting sponsors, not keeping track of several hundred thousand missing children, allowing UACs to be trafficked, prostituted and sent into forced labor, Office of Inspector General audits and congressional and state investigations have found.

Additionally, young girls and teenagers are often raped by their smugglers along the journey to the U.S. or by others in the UAC program while being housed in ORR facilities, including in Texas, according to several reports, The Center Square reported. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called on the president to shut down several facilities in Texas, arguing his administration was presiding over the abuse of children.

Because the greatest number of UACs have been housed in HHS-contracted facilities in Texas, Alliance for a Safe Texas president Sheena Rodriguez has been calling for state and federal reform. She’s also been sounding the alarm about the connection between trafficking and abortion, pointing to several reports. One includes a UC Berkeley School of Public Health report citing data that “60%-80% of unaccompanied girls are sexually assaulted during their journey to the United States.”

Abortion advocates argue that pregnant UACs should have access to taxpayer-funded abortions and abortifacients.

“Abortion is essential health care and accessing it should not depend on your immigration status, whether you’re incarcerated, or which state you are in,” the American Civil Liberties Union argues. The ACLU also advocates for eliminating all Border Patrol checkpoints, arguing they “trap people trying to escape Texas’ abortion ban.”

Under the Trump administration, a federal rule was implemented requiring ORR to prohibit UACs from being transported to have abortions. In 2017, the ACLU sued and won in court. In 2020, ORR issued a new policy stating federal staff could not block or interfere with UAC access to abortion.

After the reversal of Roe v. Wade and state abortion bans, the Biden administration expanded the 2020 policy to prioritize placing pregnant UACs in states with no abortion bans and if they were placed in states with abortion bans, they be transferred to facilities in abortion-friendly states. Several U.S. senators opposed the policy and requested information about HHS ORR UAC facilitated abortions, saying doing so violated federal law.

Abortion advocates argue federally funded UAC abortions are legal because they fall under the exceptions listed under the Hyde Amendment. The amendment, first enacted in 1976, restricts Congress from allocating federal funds to pay for abortions in annual appropriations bills for the departments of Labor, HHS, Education, and their subagencies. The exceptions include saving the life of the mother, rape and incest, and if carrying the baby to term would cause long-term negative health consequences to the mother, the Congressional Research Service explains.

Rodriguez, a former pregnancy center counselor, supports the previous Trump abortion policy, but at a minimum says Congress must implement a range of transparency requirements.

“Children are being abused and sexually assaulted and they need resources and support to help them deal with the trauma they’ve endured,” she told The Center Square. “This does not include advocating for them to get an abortion especially without parental consent, as is often done. These minors need to understand all of their options, including adoption and assistance to keep their child. They also need to be told the long-term side effects and potentially deadly consequences of taking abortion medication or undergoing procedures that could result in sterilization. Sponsors must also be notified about what procedures and trauma the minors have endured.”

Alliance for a Safe Texas is calling on the incoming Trump administration and Congress to require HHS ORR to report how many pregnant UACs are in its care, how many had abortions under its care, how many were transported to have abortions, how many were given abortion pills, how many of their parents were notified, and other information related to what extent UACs were given informed consent.

Rodriguez also suggests that transparency requirements also include requiring HHS ORR to disclose how many UACs received abortion pills that were brought into states that passed abortion restrictions and how many UACs were transported to abortion friendly states from states like Texas. Texas’ abortion ban not only outlaws most abortions but also allows for civil and criminal litigation against abortion providers and those transporting women and girls to have them. HHS ORR should also be required to disclose how many of its shelters and contracted facilities worked with Planned Parenthood, nongovernmental organizations and abortion groups to provide abortion related services and facilitate transportation to receive them, she says.

Requirements should also include HHS ORR disclosing how many UACs received counseling and what kind and how much expanding abortion access to UACs cost taxpayers.

“Taxpayers have a right to know how much taxpayer money is being used to perform an abortion on a young female minor,” Rodriguez says.

LA City Controller: Government Inefficiencies Leave ⅓ of Homelessness Budget Unspent

(Kenneth Schrupp, The Center Square) The City of Los Angeles didn’t spend more than 1/3 of its $1.3 billion homelessness budget in 2024 due to government dysfunction, City Controller Kenneth Mejia reported.

Mejia blamed “cumbersome” processes, “obsolete” technology, and “absence of real-time data analysis” for producing a “sluggish, inefficient approach that is incompatible with timely spending.”

The $513 million in unspent funds either rolls back to the general fund, which is “broke” due to lawsuit payouts, or stays in special funds to be spent in future years.

In an earlier report, Mejia said the city is taking out at least $80 million in loans this year to cover lawsuit payouts.

“Special funds are not in trouble,” said Mejia. “The majority of homelessness underspending is coming from Special Funds,” suggesting the city still could spend these funds.

“So if there’s overspending by departments and high liability payouts, which is what is happening, the General Fund is in trouble,” continued Mejia.

The U.S. Census has found Los Angeles’ population has been in decline since 2020, and commercial real estate firm CBRE says its office vacancy rate is 24%. Population decline and fewer businesses are putting significant stress on city revenues, which Mejia says could be $158 million lower than first projected.

Mejia also noted before he took office, the city was not tracking homelessness spending.

A state audit found California did not sufficiently track or evaluate $24 billion in recent state homelessness spending.

Meet Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s No-Nonsense White House Press Secretary

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that Karoline Leavitt, his campaign spokeswoman, will be the next White House press secretary.

Leavitt, a straight shooter and unapologetic conservative communicator, has built her reputation by taking left-wing media anchors to task for their biased and even false reporting on Trump.

“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator,” Trump wrote in a press statement. “I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.”

In response, Leavitt said Trump’s appointment left her “humbled and honored.”

Leavitt is set to succeed Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden’s embattled press secretary, whose chaotic and incoherent briefings have stained the already scandal-plagued White House.

In sharp contrast, Leavitt has gained attention for her quick wit and forceful media takedowns. On Nov. 2, she bluntly called out ABC News anchor Elizabeth Schulze for repeating a debunked claim that Trump issued a death threat against Liz Cheney.

“You want to talk about violence against political opponents? Let’s talk about the fact that Democrats have been labeling President Trump a ‘threat to democracy’ for the better half of the past 10 years,” Leavitt said. “Let’s talk about how they have compared him to Hitler, one of the worst mass murderers in the history of the world.”

In June 2024, Leavitt’s fiery responses triggered CNN anchor Kasie Hunt to abruptly end an interview during a discussion about the first presidential debate between Trump and Joe Biden. Leavitt appeared to predict that debate moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash would show bias against Trump.

“Ma’am, I’m going to stop this interview if you’re going to continue to attack my colleagues,” Hunt claimed. As Leavitt attempted to reply, Hunt interrupted again, ending the interview: “Karoline, thank you very much for your time. You are welcome to come back at any point.”

Leavitt worked for Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign and his White House as assistant press secretary under Kayleigh McEnany. She then worked as Rep. Elise Stefanik’s communications director before running for Congress in New Hampshire’s 1st District in 2022, where she lost to incumbent Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas.

Trump-Musk DOGE Parody Page Goes Viral w/ Hilarious Government Jabs

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President-elect Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency has a spoof page that uses comedy to call out some of the most bizarre government programs funded by taxpayers.

The parody page has proven successful, gaining nearly 600,000 followers and millions of views across all its posts. It uses satire and AI-generated images to mock real government-funded programs that have drawn the ire of many for their perceived absurdity.

“We are excited President Trump has created this position. We won’t let you down,” the page wrote, sharing Trump’s announcement of the DOGE department and the selection of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead it.

One of the first mocked programs was a State Department grant to fund drag queen shows in Ecuador. “Did you know your tax dollars were used to fund drag shows in Ecuador?” the page wrote, going viral with 14 million views.

Another parody program was the Congressional Liquor Store. “Nancy is terrified we are going to cut the budget for the congressional liquor store. Should we cut it?” the page asked, poking fun at claims that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi overindulges in alcohol. Pelosi claims she does not drink.

Another post mocked the National Institutes of Health allegedly spending over half a million dollars to study chimpanzees’ feces. While Headline USA could not immediately verify the program, the NIH performed biomedical research on chimpanzees until 2015.

The page also mocked the NIH’s study of injecting cocaine into beagles at a whopping cost of $2 million.

In 2016, the National Science Foundation spent $1.5 million to study mudskipper fish walking on treadmill-style platforms, as reported by the New York Post at the time.

Another spoofed program was an NIH initiative to study the spread of HIV among prostitutes in Thailand. The parody page joked, “The U.S. National Institutes of Health spent $442,340 to study the behavior of male prostitutes in Vietnam. That won’t happen again & Lindsey Graham never reported back with his findings.”

Trump Ally May Team Up w/ Bernie Sanders to Cap Credit Card Rates

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) An unexpected pair of senators may soon team up to help swiftly deliver on one of President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign promises: capping excessive credit card interest rates.

On Friday, Sens. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, expressed their eagerness to work with the second Trump administration to cap credit card interest rates at 10 percent—less than half the current average of 24.61 percent.

“I look forward to working with the Trump Administration on fulfilling his promise to cap credit card interest rates at 10%,” Sanders wrote on X, garnering over 9.2 million views.

“We cannot continue to allow big banks to make record profits by ripping off Americans by charging them 25 to 30% interest rates,” Sanders added. “That is usury.”

Hawley agreed, reposting Sanders’ post and calling on the upcoming Republican-led Senate to prioritize the plan.

“An anti-usury bill capping outrageous credit card rates ought to be a top priority of the next Congress,” Hawley wrote.

The unusual alliance between Hawley, a staunch conservative, and Sanders, a self-described “democratic socialist,” comes two months after Trump condemned draconian credit card interest rates.

“While working Americans catch up, we’re going to put a temporary cap on credit card interest rates at 10 percent. We have no choice,” Trump said in September.

According to the New York Federal Reserve, Americans carry a total of $1.17 trillion in credit card debt, following a $24 billion increase in the second quarter of 2024. This debt is only worsened by the average credit card interest rate of 24.61 percent, according to LendingTree.

In September 2023, Hawley introduced the Capping Credit Card Interest Rates Act, which would have capped the interest rate at 18 percent. This is three points higher than Sanders’s proposal of 15 percent.

Bowman Mocks Kamala for Backing Cheney Over Him in Michigan Fiasco

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Rep. Jamaal Bowman revealed Friday that the Harris campaign sidelined him in their Michigan efforts and deployed former Rep. Liz Cheney instead.

Bowman appeared to mock Vice President Kamala Harris’s allies for their puzzling decision to join forces with Cheney, a self-proclaimed Republican widely unpopular across the political spectrum.

“I then told them … ‘I am ready to be dispatched to any part of the country. Let me know. I want to go to Michigan in particular,’” Bowman said on the Rania Khalek Dispatches podcast about his conversations with the Harris campaign.

“They never get back to me. Even worse, they send Ritchie Torres, Bill Clinton and Liz Cheney to Michigan. … This is what their campaign decided to do: let’s not send Jamaal Bowman,” said the outgoing representative.

Bowman, who represents New York’s 16th Congressional District, lost his Democratic primary to George Latimer, an AIPAC-backed and pro-Israel candidate. Bowman’s term ends on Jan. 20, 2025.

In the interview, Bowman joked that his large popularity in Arab American communities led Latimer to accuse him of better representing Dearborn, a city with the largest Arab American population in the U.S.

“My opponent said this sh*t in the debate,” Bowman claimed. “He said that because he knows it’s an Arab American community.”

Bowman’s criticism proved accurate, as the Harris-Cheney alliance floundered.

According to the Detroit Free Press, President-elect Donald Trump carried Dearborn with 42 percent of the vote to Harris’s 36 percent. Trump ultimately won Michigan.

This mirrored a national trend, with Trump drastically improving his vote share compared to 2020 and 2016. In 2020, President Joe Biden received nearly 69 percent of the Dearborn vote compared to Trump’s 29.9 percent.

Harris did not convince Arab American voters who saw her campaign rhetoric as inauthentic, shifting between support for Palestinians and Israel depending on the audience.

The Harris campaign came under fire for running microtargeted ads aimed at Arab Americans in Michigan, according to CNN.

These ads featured Harris’s remarks supporting Palestinians but strategically omitted her statements backing Israel. In Pennsylvania, she ran ads highlighting her support for Israel while simultaneously avoiding mention of her pro-Palestinian statements.

ABC Says ‘The View’ Won’t Add Pro-Trump Panelist

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A spokesperson for ABC recently denied the rumors that the network is desperately trying to find a supporter of President-elect Donald Trump who would agree to be a panelist on the far-left and infamously Trump-hating show The View.

“This report is not true,” publicity director Lauri Hogan told the Daily Wire. “The View is an opinion-based show featuring a diverse panel of women with different points of view – the current panel is clearly resonating with audiences given that the series just had its highest-rated episode in more than a decade and hit a 4-year high in total viewers.”

The recent news came after the New York Post published an exclusive report in which an anonymous source claimed that ABC is trying to find a conservative panelist for the show since it became infamous for pushing leftist and anti-Trump propaganda, with the insider adding that it is the network’s top priority.

“The View is facing pressure from higher-ups,” the source said. “Viewers can expect some major changes, including bringing in new panelists that can bring in a pro-Trump perspective.”

The insider did not say whether one of the current panelists would leave the show or whether the network would add another seat.

“Everyone on The View endorsed Kamala Harris. They lost. They are out of touch with America,” the source said. “For a show about different perspectives, The View doesn’t seem to have any when it comes to Trump. ABC bosses don’t want to alienate the pro-Trump demographic.”

Another insider told the Post that the network decided to add a Trump-supporting panelist because it witnessed that most people voted for Trump since the politician won the popular vote.

“We are trying to sort out how we cover the next 4 years when everyone inside ABC News is on one side,” the source said.

While some conservatives became enthusiastic after reading the report, many suggested that adding one token conservative on the panel would not save the show.

“Unless ABC makes the percentage of hosts reflective of the election results, don’t count on Trump supporters tuning in,” @KelemenCari wrote.

Other conservatives suggested that trying to bring in more conservative voters would not work because conservatives would never bother watching The View ever again.

Dear ⁦@ABCNetwork, the damage is done. You could have Betsy Ross sewing the American flag, and no one would watch one more second of these bloviating idiots espousing their heavily biased rhetoric,” @EricaRN4USA wrote.

Trump Supporter Trolls Calif. Leftists, Sells Fluoride Water to Them

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) California leftists became very scared that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who President-elect Donald Trump recently nominated to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, would ban fluoride water, so one of the Trump supporters decided to make fun of them by selling them fluoride water.

“I am now selling fluoridated water in Los Angeles to the panic-stricken population,” @casbrad wrote.

He then continued making jokes after fellow Trump supporters started messaging him.

“@arniewatkins [is a] powerful, creative and great athlete, [who] knows what’s up. He understands extra fluoride is the way to go,” @casbrad wrote.

He also wrote that he sells only the water and the jar remains.

“For those not understanding why my Tyro Glass is not included, I would never part with this priceless artifact,” he wrote.

He then informed people that the fluoride water is very popular.

“Due to the overwhelming messages I am receiving, YES, I will ship, too. [Just] comment FLUORIDE, and I [got you],” he wrote.

He then trolled people by posting things unrelated to fluoride water in the thread.

“While you’re here, check out this cool tree,” he wrote.

After one of the news sources wrote an article about what happened, @casbrad also trolled people in the comments section of the news source’s Twitter post.

“Whoever that Trump supporter trolling California leftists is must be very witty and handsome,” he wrote.

After Trump nominated RFK Jr., Big Pharma stock crumbled, and the mass media attacked him by claiming he was not experienced enough to have this kind of job.

Many conservatives, however, supported Trump’s pick, calling to ban fluoride, parabens, food dyes and high-fructose corn syrup.

“It’s time to Make America Healthy Again!” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., wrote.

Don Huffines of Huffines Liberty Foundation also proposed to ban fluoride.

“Can you believe that our government is spending millions of dollars dumbing down your children and putting pregnant women at risk by putting fluoride in the water? The fix is quick & cheap: JUST STOP,” he wrote. “REMOVE fluoride from our water. MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN!”

Founder of the free-speech social media platform Gab, Andrew Torba, also supported making America healthy again.

“Fluoride, vaccines, and seed oils on suicide watch. Crunchy moms standing back and standing by,” he wrote.

Alaskans Hope Trump Keeps Promise to Expand Oil Extraction

(Headline USA) President-elect Donald Trump promised repeatedly during his campaign to expand oil drilling in the U.S., which is good news for political leaders in Alaska, where oil is the economic lifeblood and many felt the Biden administration has obstructed efforts to boost the state’s diminished production.

Opening the coastal plain to drilling has been a longtime goal for members of Alaska’s congressional delegation. In 2017, they added language to a tax bill mandating two oil and gas lease sales by late 2024.

The first sale took place in the waning days of the last Trump administration, but President Joe Biden quickly called on Interior Secretary Deb Haaland to review the leasing program.

That led to the cancelation of seven leases that had been acquired by the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, a state corporation. Smaller companies gave up two other leases. Litigation is pending over the canceled leases.

Oil is vital to the economic wellbeing of North Slope communities, said Nagruk Harcharek, president of Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat, a nonprofit advocacy group whose members include leaders from that region. Responsible development has long coexisted with subsistence lifestyles, he said.

In a video posted on X by Republican Gov. Mike Dunleavy, Trump said he would work to ensure a natural gas pipeline project long sought by state political leaders is built.

While voters “might not have been head over heels” for Trump, “they appreciated that his policies, when they come to resource development, are clearly policies that work to benefit an economy like Alaska’s,” Trump critic U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski told reporters.

“So I would anticipate that we would see, again, a return to greater economic opportunities through resource development,” she said.

Sylvester Stallone Is MAGA

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone recently revealed that he wants to make America great again by publicly supporting President-elect Donald Trump.

Stallone addressed other Trump-supporting guests at the America First Policy Insitute event by stating that Trump is a “mythical character.”

“We are in the presence of a really mythical character. I love mythology. This individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I’m in awe,” he said. “When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world because, without him, you could imagine what the world would look like.

Stallone then congratulated Trump on becoming “the second George Washington” and welcomed him on stage.

Stallone previously avoided getting into politics by endorsing no presidential candidate, which led to people wondering about his political beliefs. His actions, however, showed his fans that he was most likely a Republican rather than a Democrat.

Stallone previously indicated that he is pro-life when he talked about abortion with his daughters, Sophia and Sistine. He talked about how his mother wanted to abort him on their Unwaxed podcast about the new documentary SLY, which focuses on his life story.

“I grew up in a really bad household,” he said. “My mother would say, ‘The only reason you’re here is because the hanger didn’t work, or bouncing down those steps caused you to get lost.’ And she said, ‘Truthfully, Sylvester, if there was really something wrong with your brain, I would’ve definitely opened up the window and put you on the window sill and let you freeze because I’d be doing you a favor.'”

He then said that a child’s brain is too young to compute this kind of information, adding that he “almost though she was joking” and that he “thought it was normal.”

“Of course. What type of mother says that to their child?” one of the daughters responded rhetorically.

Stallone also said in an old interview that he decided to write Rocky because Hollywood stopped making cynical and anti-Christian movies.

“Everything was anti-society, anti-Christ, anti-government, anti-everything, and there was no one to root for,” he said, adding that he wanted to “get back to the cycle of the films of the [1940s] and [1950s],” he said.

At the beginning of this year, Stallone also announced that he and his wife are leaving far-left California to move permanently to conservative Florida.

“Gee, I wonder why,” co-founder of Trending Politics Collin Rugg wrote sarcastically.

Stallone also supported the anti-child trafficking movie City of Dreams, even though Hollywood decided to ignore it.
