‘Something Bad Is About To Happen’: Tucker’s Dire Warning of 2024 Election

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In a gripping address at the Risk On 360! Global Success Conference con Nov. 21, conservative host Tucker Carlson delivered a stark cautionary message about the looming 2024 presidential election, warning that it could be unprecedented and mired with turmoil.

During his speech, Carlson painted a bleak picture of the future political landscape, stating, “2024 is likely to be like nothing we’ve ever seen.”

He emphasized, “Something bad is about to happen,” as he delved into the swirling cultural and political complexities gripping the nation.

“I flew out here across the country this morning and spent five hours texting people … and I gotta tell you, every single person I texted, with the exception of my wife — who’s not on the internet at all — was angry and paranoid,” Carlson revealed, as reported by the Daily Caller.

He emphasized the credibility of the individuals expressing concern, noting, “Seriously, and these are not crazy people. These are normal good people with like kids and stuff. With a vested interest in Americans’ success. These are not the burn-it-down caucus. These are the, you know, these are the people you want voting.”

Carlson spoke passionately about the justified anger and growing apprehension among Americans. “And I have to say after assessing their views for five hours, I think they were justified in both. They had every reason to be angry and all the evidence required to become paranoid,” he added.

Encouraging people to rely on their instincts and remain vigilant, Carlson stressed, “Your gut is the one thing that doesn’t lie to you. Your gut only has your interest in mind. It is not trying to sell you a product, or convince you to vote for it.”

Carlson did not hold back when speaking about President Joe Biden.

“You’ve got two people running for president — one of them is literally senile,” he stated. “Nothing that is happening now or that has happened for the last five or six years can be explained through conventional political terms.”

No ‘Gulag’: Ethics Declines to Probe Embattled Bowman’s Insurrectionism

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The House Ethics Committee faced intense scrutiny and accusations of partisanship after opting not to launch an investigation into Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y.’s infamous act of pulling a fire alarm in an alleged bid to thwart a Republican-led funding bill last month.

Despite Bowman admitting guilt to a misdemeanor charge filed by D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb for the false alarm, the committee refused to delve into the matter, igniting widespread criticism on Twitter.

In a joint statement, Ethics Committee Chair Michael Guest, R-Miss., and ranking member Rep. Susan Wild, D-Pa., stated, “A majority of the Members of the Committee did not agree to establish an ISC or report to the House regarding Representative Bowman’s conduct.”

Bowman has persistently maintained his innocence, asserting that he mistakenly believed triggering the alarm would open an exit door. However, opposing voices, citing video evidence, assert that Bowman appeared nonchalant while activating the alarm. Republicans also highlighted his failure to notify Capitol Police and his admission only after law enforcement confronted him.

Shortly after the incident, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga, called on the DOJ to arrest Bowman, drawing parallels to the legal actions taken against individuals involved in the Jan. 6 protest.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., took a more direct approach by introducing a resolution seeking Bowman’s expulsion from the House. “This is the United States Congress, not a New York City high school. This action warrants expulsion & I’m introducing a resolution to do just that,” she said at the time.

The Ethics Committee’s decision regarding Bowman follows its recent high-profile actions, notably a scathing report targeting Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., regarding alleged misuse of campaign funds for luxury purchases and an adult website subscription.

Efforts to expel Santos from the House are underway, with speculation rife about a potential resignation before expulsion proceedings. Santos is slated to address the media in a press conference on Nov. 30.

Additionally, the committee’s ongoing investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., over allegations of sexual misconduct and financial impropriety has sparked concerns. Ousted Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., hinted at potential expulsion threats for Gaetz pending the revelation of evidence supporting the alleged wrongdoing.

Twitter users did not hold back in slamming the Ethics Committee’s refusal to launch an investigation into Bowman.

Donor Pledges $20 Million to Oust Accused Antisemite Rep. Tlaib

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A proposal has surfaced in Michigan’s political landscape as a businessman expressed interest in supporting a potential primary challenge against embattled Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Michi.

Lindel Nelson reportedly unleashed an offer of significant financial support, totaling $20 million, aimed at potential challenger Hill Harper, an actor-turned-politician seeking the Democratic nomination for the Senate in 2024.

As reported by Politico, Nelson’s proposal consisted of $10 million in independent expenditures and an additional $10 million in campaign contributions.

The offer comes amid growing condemnation and disgust against Tlaib’s statements in support of Palestinians.

Notably, Tlaib has gone as far as defending a phrase historically associated with calls for the destruction of the Jewish state. Her disturbing attempt to humanize the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” prompted a humiliating bipartisan censure.

Harper rejected the financial proposition. In a public statement on Twitter, he emphasized his alleged commitment to the democratic process and his refusal to be influenced by financial incentives. “I won’t be bossed, bullied, or bought,” Harper stated on Wednesday.

“I didn’t intend for a private phone call to turn public. But now that it has, here’s the truth,” he added. “One of AIPAC’s biggest donors offered $20m if I dropped out of the U.S. Senate race to run against @RashidaTlaib.”

The seat in question became available after the announcement by incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Michi., that she would not seek re-election in 2024 after serving since 2000. This decision has ignited a variety of contenders eye the Democratic nomination, with Harper among them.

According to an August Emerson College poll, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., Is the favorite for Democrat voters. On the Republican side, former Reps. Mike Rogers and Peter Meijer are among the candidates seeking the GOP nomination, with Rogers leading with 12% of the voters. 29% and 39% of respondents say that they remain “undecided” or would like somebody else, respectively.

MURDOCK: Israel May Not Have Biden’s Support, but Here’s How Americans Can Offer Theirs

(Deroy Murdock, Headline USA) Friends of Israel in America and around the world have wondered since Oct. 7 how to help the Jewish State exterminate Hamas.

In a totally unprovoked surprise attack, these genocidal anti-Semitic terrorists slaughtered 1,200 Israelis and 31 Americans and kidnapped 240 others.

Soldiers Save Lives offers a particularly satisfying way to accelerate their richly deserved annihilation.

“I support SSL, a group that provides military supplies because they are the most urgent need at the moment,” Tom Klingenstein told me.

The Manhattan-based financier and chairman of the Claremont Institute added, “I am confident that very little of their money goes to overhead. The group is led by Gidon Hazony, who, it turns out, is a very impressive young man.”

Hazony co-founded SSL just 48 hours after the Oct. 7 massacre. That Shabbat morning, he received a text message from a close friend named David Newman who was at the Nova Music Festival near Re-Im. “Pray for me,” it said.

Another text stated: “Something terrible happened.” Then: The sound of silence.

Hazony and several fellow paramedics rushed toward the concert site. They soon discovered the horrible truth: Hamas killers flew paragliders from Gaza into southern Israel at daybreak. They landed and opened fire on music fans who had been dancing until dawn at an overnight psychedelic rave.

As the bullets destroyed the peace, the Israelis and foreign visitors ran for their lives while the Hamas gunmen shot them, many in their backs, some point-blank.

Others took refuge in bomb shelters, only to be murdered by Hamas’s grenade-lobbing butchers.

Some survived by hiding beneath the corpses and playing dead for hours, as the Iranian-backed barbarians hunted fresh victims.

All told, terrorists killed 364, including Hazony’s friend David.

Hazony and five compatriots resolved immediately to assist those who are yanking this ominous weed out by the roots.

“Our soldiers will stop for nothing to protect our nation, land, and State,” Hazony told me. “We, too. SSL will stop for nothing to assist, support, and protect our soldiers. This is war.”

The group’s motto is simple, yet inspiring: “Soldiers Save Lives. Gear Saves Soldiers.”

SSL’s website explains its dual logistical missions: “We gather donations of light tactical gear in our US warehouse, ship them to Israel, and distribute them directly to units in need.”

Also, “We review and fund proposals from IDF unit commanders for heavy tactical gear. We act as the liaison between an Israel Defense Forces unit in need and the relevant supplier in Israel and pay the supplier directly.”

So far, SSL has raised and allocated more than $1 million in gifts. Its 10 flights, with free cargo space courtesy of El Al, have transported 100 tons of purchased-and-contributed equipment worth $10 million. This material has been delivered to 15 IDF and security units.

These include:

  • 20 prescription ballistic glasses to Maglan Special Forces
  • 32 high-tech communication devices to Sayeret Golani
  • 35 bulletproof vests and 70 ceramic plates to the Kochav Yaakov Civil Guard
  • 125 ballistic helmets to Sayeret Tzanchanim
  • $40,000 worth of security gear and night-vision cameras to Efrat Security
  • For those who are into this sort of thing, SSL even furnishes strawberry-flavored kosher electrolyte powder.

“I am a soldier in the 7071st Reserve Combat Engineering Battalion,” said Noah Neustadter of the IDF. “Becoming an ambassador of Soldiers Save Lives has given me the opportunity to raise the funds I need to get life-saving equipment directly to my unit.”

“We’re doing what we have to do, but we’re doing it alone,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News Channel’s Mark Levin on Sunday, regarding the fight against Hamas.

“We’re doing it for our sake. But we’re also doing it for your sake,” he continued. “And we have to win, otherwise this disease will spread, and it will consume civilization.”

Israel need not do this alone, nor should it.

Help Israel exterminate Hamas. Support SoldiersSaveLives.org, for Israel’s sake, and America’s, too.

Charleston Elects 1st Republican Mayor Since 1877

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) In a surprising turn that some may read as a bellwether indicator of the national mood ahead of next year’s presidential election, Charleston, South Carolina, elected its first Republican mayor in nearly 150 years, the Daily Caller reported.

State Rep. William Cogswell captured the office Tuesday by a narrow 51-48 margin in the city’s run-off vote.

Cogswell defeated two-time incumbent John Tecklenburg by just under 600 votes.

Cogswell’s campaign focused on promoting “safe communities, smart growth, and sound governance.”

His platform included new zoning ordinances, funding for adult and children’s recreational leagues, and the construction of new community centers.

Zoning, in particular, has been a hot-button issue for the historic harbor town, which is seeing a massive waterfront development project go up that promises to jolt its sleepy tourism industry into a more commercial enterprise.

But crime, too, has become a growing concern under Democrat leadership—as it has elsewhere throughout the country.

The mayor-elect declared victory late Tuesday night.

“Ladies and gentlemen we can confidently say that I’m going to be the next mayor,” he said, noting that his victory marks the city’s move toward a new direction.

“The people have spoken and we’re ready for a new direction,” he continued. “A new direction that’s smart, safe, and sound. A new direction that puts our citizens and residents first. And a new direction that puts labels aside so that we can find pragmatic solutions to our problems.”

He told voters that he is “humbled by the results” and yet “excited about the future of the city.”

He also promised those who voted against him that he would try to demonstrate to them his competence by earning their “trust and respect” as mayor.

Cogswell was courteous in his victory.

“I wish John all the best. Nothing personal,” Cogswell told reporters after he delivered his victory speech, adding that “it’s time for the next generation. I think it’s time for a new chapter in our city, and I’m excited to usher that in.”

In his concession speech, Tecklenburg encouraged the crowd to support Cogswell.

“When Mayor Cogswell succeeds, Charleston succeeds,” the Democrat incumbent told the crowd.

Media Matters President’s Bigoted Blog Posts Exposed after Musk Smear

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) A series of bigoted blog posts by Media Matters President Angelo Carusone resurfaced after Twitter CEO Elon Musk launched a lawsuit against the left-wing propaganda factory.

Media Matters went to great lengths to paint Musk and Twitter as an anti-Semitic platform,  manufacturing tweets depicting ads next to anti-Semitic and white-supremacist posts.

Several left-leaning advertisers reacted to the campaign by pulling their ads from the company.

However, critics previously called out Carusone for his own writing on a private blog, published in 2005, according to the Daily Caller.

The blog is rife with politically incorrect statements referring to “trannies,” “jewry” and “Japs.”

A rant posted in November 2005 reacted to an article describing the robbery of a Bangaladeshi man by a group of transvestites described as “attractive.”

“Did you notice the word attractive? What the f**k is that doing in there? Is the write[r] a tranny lover too?” Carusone wrote.

“Or, perhaps he’s trying to justify how these trannies tricked this Bangladeshi in the first place?” he continued. “Look man, we don’t need to know whether or not they were attractive. The f**king guy was Bangladeshi And while we’re out, what the hell was he doing with $7,300 worth of stuff. The guy’s Banladeshi!”

Carusone also advised readers to “stay away from tranny bars.”

In one post, he listed Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va.—a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan—as one of his 10 favorite public figures.

In another 2005 post discussing his boyfriend, Carusone said that “despite his jewry, you KNOW he’s adorable,” and later attributed the boyfriend’s “conservative” politics to his “several bags of Jewish gold.”

Carusone is not the only Media Matters employee who has a problem with Israel.

Several current employees of the company posted or reposted tweets comparing Israel to Nazi Germany.

Carusone faced no apparent repercussions for his comments when the blog posts surfaced for the first time in 2019.

Media Matters has long faced a troubling history of unethical—and sometimes criminal—misconduct that belies its posturing as a left-wing watchdog and preacher of sanctimony.

Its founding chairman, David Brock, a former conservative who flipped sides during the Clinton administration, was linked to the Pizzagate sex-trafficking conspiracy after his boyfriend at the time was found to be communicating with Clinton campaign manager John Podesta in a series of leaked emails.

In 2018, one of Brock’s surrogates was arrested in 2018 for assaulting a female communications officer with the Interior Department during a congressional hearing.

Brock himself mysteriously stepped down last year for “undisclosed reasons” after leading the organization for two decades.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced an investigation into Media Matters as a result of Musk’s lawsuit.

“We are examining the issue closely to ensure that the public has not been deceived by the schemes of radical left-wing organizations who would like nothing more than to limit freedom by reducing participation in the public square,” Paxton said in a press release.

‘Proud of You’: Trump Praises Argentina’s Milei in Truth Social Speech

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In response to the recent Argentine presidential elections, former President Donald Trump expressed his support and congratulations to President-elect Javier Milei.

The acknowledgment came through a 25-second video posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he extended a “very special thanks” to Milei for his significant victory.

“The whole world was watching! I am very proud of you. You will turn your country around and truly Make Argentina Great Again. Congratulations!” Trump exclaimed in the video.

The triumph of Milei, who identifies as an anarcho-capitalist populist, marked a notable shift from the prolonged dominance of left-wing governance in Argentina.

Milei’s win arrives amid a backdrop of economic challenges, including triple-digit inflation and a government corruption scandal implicating Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner on corruption charges.

Securing an impressive 56 percent of the total votes, Milei decisively surpassed his opponent, government bureaucrat Sergio Massa, who conceded with 44 percent of the vote.

This is not the first instance of Trump praising Milei. Shortly after his victory, the former president, presently seeking the Republican presidential nomination for the 2024 election, took to Truth Social to convey his congratulations.

“Congratulations to Javier Milei on a great race for President of Argentina. The whole world was watching! I am very proud of you,” Trump said on Nov. 19.

Additionally, Trump shared a photo of Milei with a caption that read: “MAKE ARGENTINA GREAT AGAIN!”

Milei’s ascent to the presidency followed incumbent President Alberto Fernández’s decision not to seek re-election amidst internal turmoil.

His vice president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (not related) was sentenced to seven years on corruption charges. She also opted not run for president over the assumption that the courts would block her candidacy given her criminal conviction.

Fernández also served as president from 2007 to 2015 and succeeded her husband, Néstor Kirchner, who held the presidency from 2003 to 2007.

Milei’s victory marks a significant departure from the leftist Peronist and Kirchenism ideologies in Argentina, signaling a new era of freedom and economic prosperity under his leadership.

Arizona’s Democrat AG Threatens County to Abandon Ballot Hand-Count—Again

(Eli Pacheco, Headline USA) An Arizona county on Monday voted under duress against hand-counting ballots for the 2024 election, the Epoch Times reported.

The county board of supervisors voted 3-2 against the proposal after Democrat state Attorney General Kris Mayes threatened litigation if Mohave County approved the measure.

Mayes claimed approval would force election workers to violate the law.

In August, Board Chairman Travis Lingenfelter cited a budget deficit as a factor. County election officials estimate it would need 245 new workers for hand-counting. Mohave County’s budget deficit is about $16 million, according to a report in the Epoch Times.

Jeanne Kentch, Mohave County GOP chair, promised 300 volunteers for hand-counting. She said the contingent expected “zero compensation” for their service.

Nonetheless, Mayes’s intervention in the matter offered further evidence for many that Democrats were actively seeking to meddle in the state’s free and fair elections in order to rig the outcome for themselves.

It was at least the second time the county, in northwestern Arizona, has been forced to nix its hand-counting of ballots.

In the 2022 election, then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs threatened to arrest Mohave board members and charge them with a felony if they went through with a planned hand count that would have potentially derailed her own election as governor rather than certifying the election as it stood.

One supervisor, Colton Duncan, publicly stated that the board was coerced into the decision by the Democratic candidate.

After her loss to Hobbs, Republican Kari Lake released a statement saying election integrity wasn’t a partisan issue.

“This is about our sacred right to vote, a right that many voters were, sadly, deprived of on November 8th,” the statement read.

A poll last December from Rasmussen Reports regarding concerns about fraud in the 2022 election found that 71% of eligible American voters believed fraud had a major impact on the results.

Hobbs also oversaw Arizona’s highly suspicious 2020 election, where an forensic audit by the state legislature of the most populous county, Maricopa County, revealed numerous irregularities that could not be accounted for.

Donald Trump carried Mohave County in a narrow loss to Joe Biden in 2020 for Arizona’s electoral votes. (Biden won Arizona by less than 11,000 votes).

Liberal Actress Susan Sarandon Ousted by Agency over Anti-Semitism

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Popular actress Susan Sarandon was given the boot from the global talent agency United Talent Agency (UTA) amid revelations accusing the actress of spewing anti-Semitic vitriol during public appearances and on Twitter.

Sarandon, known for her roles in popular films such as Thelma & Louise and Dead Man Walking, has recently been under scrutiny for her sickening remarks made at pro-Palestinian rallies in New York City, Deadline reported on Nov. 21.

During one such rally in New York, she was reported as saying, “There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country.”

According to Page Six, the decision for UTA to oust Sarandon, who had been represented by the agency since 2014, follows these public remarks and her active engagement with controversial figures such as musician Roger Waters, known for his alleged anti-Israel remarks.

These comments have drawn criticism from various quarters. Aviva Klompas, the former director of speechwriting at the Israeli Mission to the United Nations, commented on Sarandon’s statement.

“When Susan Sarandon said that Jews ‘are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country’ she was saying that American Jews have it coming — that we don’t deserve to live free from harassment and assault,” she said on Twitter.

Reacting to the news, Fox News host and conservative legal scholar Mark Levin criticized Sarandon’s comments as anti-Semitic in a post on social media. “Another disgusting cockroach reveals herself,” Levin said on Wednesday.

One Twitter user chimed in accusing wealthy individuals of spreading anti-Semitism. “Susan Sarandon and Roger Waters are a reminder that antisemitism is not exclusive to bitter underachievers. It has no specific social, political or economic origins, it’s simply a pathology that consumes the inner life of the sufferer and, unfortunately, there is no known cure,” the user said.

Judge: Oregon’s Draconian New Gun Law Violates State Constitution

(Headline USA) A judge ruled Tuesday that Oregon’s draconian gun control law violates the state constitution, continuing to block it from taking effect and casting fresh doubt over the future of the embattled measure.

The law, one of the toughest in the nation, was among the first gun restrictions to be passed after a major U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year changed the guidance judges are expected to follow when considering Second Amendment cases.

The decision was handed down by Circuit Court Judge Robert S. Raschio, the presiding judge in Harney County in rural southeast Oregon.

The law would require gun owners to undergo a criminal background check and complete a gun-safety training course in order to obtain a permit to buy a firearm. It also bans high-capacity magazines.

Measure 114 has been tied up in state and federal court since it was narrowly approved by voters last November.

The state trial stemmed from a lawsuit filed by gunowners claiming the law violated the right to bear arms under the Oregon Constitution.

The defendants include such Oregon officials as Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek, Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum and State Police Superintendent Casey Codding. They can appeal to the Oregon Court of Appeals and the case could ultimately go to the Oregon Supreme Court.

Rosenblum plans to appeal the ruling, her office said in an emailed statement.

“The Harney County judge’s ruling is wrong,” the statement said. “Worse, it needlessly puts Oregonians’ lives at risk. The state will file an appeal and we believe we will prevail.”

One of the plaintiffs’ attorneys, Tyler Smith, welcomed the ruling.

“We hope the Attorney General’s office will realize that the ill-conceived and unconstitutional ballot measure should not be defended,” he said in an email.

The decision is likely “the first opening salvo of multiple rounds of litigation,” said Norman Williams, constitutional law professor at Willamette University.

During an appeals process, it’s likely that the injunction freezing the law would remain in place. Raschio was the judge who initially blocked it from taking effect in December.

The different lawsuits over the measure have sparked confusion over whether it can be implemented.

In a separate federal case over the Oregon measure, a judge in July ruled it was lawful under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

But because Raschio found it to be invalid under the Oregon Constitution during the state trial, the law remains on hold. This is because state courts can strike down a state law that violates the state constitution, even if it’s permissible under the federal constitution.

“The U.S. Constitution sets a floor, not a ceiling, for rights, so state constitutions can be more rights-protective than the federal constitution,” Williams said.

Because of this, Oregon officials would have to win in both state and federal court for the law to take effect, he said.

During the state trial, the plaintiffs and the defense clashed over whether the permit-to-purchase provision would hamper people from exercising their right to bear arms. They also sparred over whether large-capacity magazines are used for self-defense and whether they’re protected under the Oregon Constitution.

The plaintiffs argued that firearms capable of firing multiple rounds were present in Oregon in the 1850s and known to those who ratified the state constitution, which took effect in 1859. The defense, meanwhile, said modern semiautomatic firearms were “technologically distinct from the revolvers and multi-barrel pistols that were available in the 1850s.”

In his opinion, Raschio disputed the defense’s claim that banning large-capacity magazines would help make mass shootings less deadly. He recognized that mass shootings “have a significant impact on the psyche of America when they happen,” but said they “rank very low in frequency.”

“The court finds that 10-round magazine bans are no panacea to prevent a mass shooter,” he wrote.

“People tend to believe these events are prolific and happening all the time with massive levels of death and injury,” he added. “The court finds this belief, though sensationalized by the media, is not validated by the evidence.”

The Oregon measure was passed after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in June 2022 created new standards for judges weighing gun laws. That decision fueled a national upheaval in the legal landscape for U.S. firearm law.

The ruling tossed aside a balancing test that judges had long used to decide whether to uphold gun laws. It directed them to only consider whether a law is consistent with the country’s “historical tradition of firearm regulation,” rather than take into account public interests such as promoting public safety.

Since then, there has been confusion about which laws can survive. Courts have overturned laws designed to keep weapons away from domestic abusers and felony defendants. The Supreme Court heard a case on one such law this month and is expected to issue a ruling by early summer.

In her separate federal ruling over the Oregon law, U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut appeared to take into account the Supreme Court’s new directive to consider the history of gun regulations.

She found large-capacity magazines “are not commonly used for self-defense, and are therefore not protected by the Second Amendment.” Even if they were protected, she wrote, the law’s restrictions are consistent with the country’s “history and tradition of regulating uniquely dangerous features of weapons and firearms to protect public safety.”

She also found the permit-to-purchase provision to be constitutional, noting the Second Amendment “allows governments to ensure that only law-abiding, responsible citizens keep and bear arms.”

The plaintiffs in the federal case, which include the Oregon Firearms Federation, have appealed the ruling to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The case could potentially go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Nine other states have permit-to-purchase laws similar to the Oregon measure, including New York, Hawaii, Maryland and Massachusetts, according to data compiled by the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

Apart from Oregon, 11 states including California, along with Washington, D.C., limit large-capacity magazines holding more than 10 rounds, according to the Giffords Center. California’s ban on higher-capacity magazines remains in effect while the state fights a lower court’s ruling from September that the law is unconstitutional.
