Trump Says He’ll Return to Butler, Where He Was Nearly Assassinated, in October

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Former President Donald Trump said in his interview with Twitter/X CEO Elon Musk on Monday that he intends to return in October to Butler, Pennsylvania, the place where he was nearly assassinated on July 13.

“We’re going back to Butler, and we’re going to go back in October, we’re all set up,” he said. “It’s a great area, these are incredible people.”

While met with enthusiasm online, Trump’s return plans are concerning local officials. Det. Pat Young, commander of the Beaver County SWAT team—which had a significant presence at the July 13 rally—said he still hasn’t met with Secret Service over the security failures.

When asked if he thinks Trump would be safe at another Butler rally, Young said he couldn’t provide any guarantees.

“I can’t say that. At this point, me along with the majority of American people have many questions as to what and how the Secret Service does its job. And I never would have said that before, really, this week,” Young told CNN in an interview.

Young’s concern is seemingly shared by the Secret Service’s rank and file. Last month, a Secret Service whistleblower warned that his agency isn’t ready for the next assassination attempt on Trump. The unnamed counter sniper’s email was apparently sent about 12 hours before July 30 Senate hearing with new Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe. According to RealClearPolitics reporter Susan Crabtree, the Secret Service deleted the email from its servers shortly after it was sent.

“This agency NEEDS to change,” the sniper wrote in the email, obtained by Crabtree. “If not now, WHEN? “The NEXT assassination in 30 days?”

According to the local newspaper Butler Eagle, county officials don’t have a firm date or site for Trump’s return. Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche, a Republican, has also expressed concern about him returning so soon.

“While this county has overwhelmingly welcomed and supported former President Trump, a return visit will place additional stress on law enforcement and the community. I am not sure we’ve had sufficient time to heal from the trauma,” she reportedly said.

Jean-Pierre Fails to Cite a Single Kamala Victory: Silence Says It All?

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) It’s a tough job being White House press secretary—just ask Karine Jean-Pierre.

On Monday, she was asked to list specific accomplishments made by Vice President Kamala Harris, who is currently the presumptive Democratic candidate for president.

In response, Jean-Pierre couldn’t name any. Zero. Nada.

“What does the president see as the vice president’s biggest achievement during their time in office together,” asked Real Clear Politics Philip Wegmann during Monday’s press briefing.

Jean-Pierre attempted to respond by claiming that because Harris and Biden are “partners,” any accomplishments of Biden could be credited to Harris as well, as seen in video shared by the Media Research Center (MRC)

“So, there’s not a specific policy achievement. It’s a comprehensive whole?” Wegmann pressed, prompting an incoherent response from Jean-Pierre.

“The Biden-Harris accomplishments are the Biden-Harris accomplishments,” she said, seemingly unaware that she was digging herself into a deeper hole.

If Harris deserves credit for what some might consider Biden’s victories, does she also share responsibility for the administration’s “struggles”? Fox Business reporter Edward Lawrence asked.

Ouch.

Jean-Pierre’s struggles to single out a specific Harris victory, even by the left’s own standards, underscore the vice president’s struggles throughout the years.

Harris was widely seen as being unable to rise to the occasion after being assigned several high-profile tasks, including overseeing the “root causes” of illegal immigration and becoming the administration’s gun and artificial intelligence czar.

Harris’s inefficiencies had led some Democrats—including President Joe Biden himself—to question her electability in 2024. Some Democratic donors even suggested kicking Harris from the ticket.

Los Angeles Times suggested Harris should have returned to the Senate after the passing of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

Some conservatives mockingly celebrated Biden’s appointment of Harris to several jobs, suggesting that she wouldn’t be able to accomplish any feats for the left.

Polls had also shown that Harris is widely seen as unpopular among the American electorate. In June 2023, an NBC News poll anointed Harris with a net-negative rating of –17, the lowest for any vice president in the poll’s history.

However, much of this has shifted in recent weeks, as the legacy media has worked to propel Harris, the now-Democrat candidate for president, into stardom by whitewashing her reputation despite their own years-long negative coverage.

“They fawned all over her comparing her to Beyonce and Taylor Swift. If they believed in God, they would compare her to the blessed Virgin Mary,” said MRC President Brent Bozell while on Fox Business on Tuesday.

Kamala Resurrects ‘Trust Women’ Slogan Despite Marrying, Working for Sexual Predators

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday took to X to urge her followers to “trust women,” a phrase that mirrors the “believe all women” slogan that gained popularity at the height of the MeToo movement.

While the post seemingly intends to draw attention to abortion and health care, it starkly contrasts with Harris’s past actions—especially concerning women allegedly victimized by those in her inner circle.

Take, for instance, Harris’s dismissal of several women who accused President Joe Biden, then a Democratic candidate, of sexual misconduct and even sexual assault.

Although Harris first claimed to believe Biden’s accusers, she accepted his offer to join him on the 2020 presidential ticket.

“I believe them, and I respect them being able to tell their story and having the courage to do it,” Harris said in 2019.

When asked specifically about Tara Reade’s accusations against Biden, Harris did not say whether she believed her. Instead, Harris stated Reade had the “right” to tell her story, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Another instance of potential hypocrisy includes Harris’s marriage to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Earlier this month, Emhoff came under fire after reports surfaced that he had impregnated his daughter’s nanny.

The affair led to the end of Emhoff’s first marriage with Kerstin Emhoff, and the nanny, Najen Naylor, was forced to quit her career as an educator.

Emhoff allegedly paid Naylor an undisclosed amount as she sought an abortion, according to the Daily Mail.

Emhoff ended up marrying Harris in 2014, six years after the scandal. Naylor declined Headline USA’s request for an phone or an in-person interview earlier this month.

Harris’s 1990s relationship with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, then-speaker of the California Assembly, has also resurfaced in the headlines.

Brown, who was married at the time, propelled Harris’s political career by appointing her two lucrative positions, which Los Angeles Times described as “patronage” jobs in 1994.

Last month, this affair and Harris’s disregard for Brown’s marriage to Blanche Vitero were criticized by Georgia activist Michaelah Montgomery during a Trump rally in Georgia.

“The first step in destroying the black community is to dismantle the black family. So aside from her record as a prosecutor, why don’t we ask Mrs. Willie Brown if Kamala Harris cares about black families,” Montgomery said.

In response to these attacks, Harris’s supporters affirmed that it is sexist to question her relationship with Brown. Despite this line of defense, Harris’s professional relationship continue to plague her campaign.

Harris hired Kamau Marshall for the then-Harris-Biden campaign, paying him $6,500 a month, in what could amount to a $80,000 annual salary, according to Federal Election Commissions data reviewed by the Headline USA.

Marshall’s hiring came despite his 2020 scandal over past sexist posts unveiled by Fox News.

In 2011, Marshall tweeted about his preference for “power women” as long as they “know their place” and he could “where [sic] the pants.” In 2013, he tweeted, “It’s unattractive when a girl doesn’t act classy & does not know how to control her feelings.”

Despite the scandal, in 2021, Biden-Harris administration brought Marshall to the White House as deputy assistant, later promoting him to senior advisor at the Department of Education. He now holds the powerful and influential title of “senior advisor” at the Harris campaign, according to his LinkedIn.

Harris may have called on Americans to “trust” women, but the question remains: can they trust her?

Historically Blue Texas County Residents Ready to Vote for Trump

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A sheriff candidate in a Texas border county that has never voted Republican in a presidential election said on Aug. 9, 2024, that he was shocked when he discovered that many people who live there plan to support Donald Trump this November.

Fox News reported that voters in Starr County, Texas – which is over 97% Hispanic or Latino – have overwhelmingly supported Democrats in the last century, with 86% of them voting for Barack Obama in 2012. However, in 2020, voters started massively leaving the Democratic Party, which resulted in Joe Biden grabbing 52% of the vote.

This year, the county could make a historic shift.

“I’ve been doing door-to-door campaigning in all pockets of this county. I am just shocked [by] the number of people that just volunteer that they’re going to vote for Trump,” Starr County Republican sheriff candidate Alberto Olivares said.

Olivares, a former Democrat himself, said that even though Latinos have been historically conservative, they were identifying themselves as Democrats for many generations “for some reason.”

“We believe in God and supporting the family. We want a secure border, supporting our police officers, fiscal responsibilities. So we’re conservatives,” he said.

Olivares said that, in addition to the invasion from the southern border, people in his community feel the “financial squeeze.”

“Border security being so close here is a very important issue. But so is the economy. And people are just struggling,” he said.

Olivares, a former Border Patrol agent, said he decided to run for sheriff because “enough is enough,” adding that the county had a Republican sheriff 118 years ago.

“I never dreamed of being a politician by any means, but enough is enough, and we need some real leadership in the sheriff’s office here. We need to increase security for the people. And I think I’m the right guy for the job,” he said.

Authorities Search for Man Who Broke into Trump’s Va. Campaign Office

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Local law enforcement announced on Aug. 12, 2024, that an unidentified man broke into a campaign office in Virginia for Donald Trump on Aug. 11, 2024.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said it was looking for a suspect wanted for a burglary at the Trump for President 2024 campaign office in Ashburn, Va.

The Daily Wire reported that the Trump campaign is leasing the office, which is the headquarters for the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee.

The news source added that the town is located about 30 miles northwest of Washington, D.C.

“It is rare to have the office of any political campaign or party broken into. We are determined to identify the suspect, investigate why it happened and determine what may have been taken as well as what may have been left behind,” Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about the burglary at about 9:00 p.m. on the day of the burglary. Surveillance footage showed that the suspect who entered the building was a white adult male wearing a dark baseball hat and a backpack.

The news source reported that the investigation is ongoing and it is unclear if anything was stolen from the office.

“It’s an office park area, kind of a remote office park area, so there would not have been an awful lot of people [around the building on Sunday]. Once we know who this person is and the motivation, we’ll have a second statement,” LCSO spokesman Thomas Julia said.

Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Rich Anderson said he is waiting for the results of the LCSO investigation.

“I got a phone call from my people this morning telling me that an intruder had somehow made his way in. They’ve handed it off to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. It’s really in their hands, so we’re just in a wait-and-see mode,” Anderson said.

Report: Top Hackers Find Vulnerabilities in Voting Machines, but It’s Too Late to Fix Them

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Last weekend, hackers at the annual Las Vegas DEF CON conference identified vulnerabilities in voting machines for the 2024 election that they couldn’t address before Nov. 5, 2024.

Politico reported that the DEF CON “Voting Village” event involved hackers working with various voting machines, attempting to bypass firewalls and other security measures on devices meant for counting ballots and confirming voters’ identities.

The news source added that many individuals focused on election integrity are concerned that no system exists to swiftly update security measures.

“As far as time goes, it is hard to make any real, major, systemic changes, but especially 90 days out from the election,” Catherine Terranova, one of the Voting Village organizers, said.

The news source reported that the organizers will publish an imminent report on the hacker’s findings. Harri Hursti, co-founder of the Voting Village, said the detected vulnerabilities took up “multiple pages” by Aug. 10, 2024. However, addressing bugs in the system would likely not be over by the time the election begins.

The news came after Donald Trump’s campaign was hacked, with the campaign referencing a Microsoft report that claimed Iranian hackers targeted a “high-ranking official on a presidential campaign.”

“On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘high ranking official’ on the U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a vice presidential nominee,” campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said.

During the 2016 election, the FBI reported that foreign hackers breached two states’ election databases. The FBI did not clarify which states, but some news outlets reported that these states could’ve been Illinois and Arizona.

Republicans’ trust in U.S. elections nosedived after the 2020 election due to concerns about voter fraud. In 2022, Rasmussen Reports said that “most Republicans don’t trust electronic voting machines.”

The poll also found that “39% of likely U.S. voters believe voting machines make it easier to cheat in elections.”

Colbert Cracks Up Audience Claiming CNN Reports ‘News’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Even Stephen Colbert’s audience couldn’t hold back their laughter at the notion that CNN offers unbiased coverage of news.

On Monday, Colbert’s audience erupted into laughter after he told CNN host Kaitlan Collins that the network “just reports the news as it is,” as shown in viral video shared by the Media Research Center.

Collins, who hosts The Source, was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the viral exchange occurred.

“I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is,” Colbert told Collins, attempting to ask a question. However, the audience quickly interrupted him with laughter.

Taken aback, Collins asked if Colbert’s statement was “supposed to be a laugh line.” In response, Colbert jested that it was not meant to be a joke, “but I guess it is.” This prompted another round of laughter from both the audience and Collins.

On X, several copies of the video gained viral attention, with MRC’s Brent Baker sarcastically noting that even the audience of a notoriously leftist late-night show in liberal Manhattan recognizes CNN’s biased reporting.

On user wrote that Collins is far from an objective journalist. “Kaitlan Collins’ reaction is pure art…,” the user wrote. “In her head she truly sees herself as a Walter Cronkite-esque, true ‘journalist.’ When back in reality, everyone in America (on both sides) clearly understands that she is a partisan hack.”

Twitter personality Ian Miles Cheong chimed in, “Ouch. CNN has lost all credibility, even among liberals.”

Collins first gained national attention as CNN’s White House correspondent from 2021 until November 2022. After co-hosting CNN This Morning with the now-fired Don Lemon, she was promoted to primetime to host her own show, The Source.

Last week on her show, she interviewed Sen. JD Vance’s former roommate to “trash” him, according to MRC’s NewsBusters.

Collins has also suggested that President Donald Trump’s labeling of Kamala Harris as “Kamabla” flirts with racism.

The CNN anchor faced backlash from Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., after attempting to ask him about Harris’s racial identify.

“Why did Kamala Harris serve as Vice President for a man she called racist and a segregationist?” Cotton said, flipping the script to Collins.

In July, Collins allowed twice-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams to whitewash her past election denialism. The act of questioning election results is something Democrats claim undermines democracy.

Collins did not respond to Headline USA’s request for comments sent to her WarnerMedia email address.

Illinois Official Warns of Mail-In Ballot Loopholes that Could Enable Noncitizen Voting

() With early voting just around the corner, an elections official wants to instill confidence in voters around deep-blue Illinois’s election process.

Early voting for the Nov. 5 general election begins Sept. 26 in Illinois. Mail-in ballot applications are in the mail to Illinois voters. Requests must be returned by Oct. 31.

Tazewell County Clerk and Recorder John Ackerman recently held a roundtable discussion to address concerns there may be this election cycle.

“The problem is lack of trust in our elections, and the cure to that is local election authorities throughout the state of Illinois stepping forward to be completely fully transparent,” Ackerman told the Center Square.

Illinois’s elections are decentralized, meaning each of the state’s 102 counties has its own elections authority, with separate authorities in some larger municipalities, that independently run their jurisdictions’ elections.

Among concerns that have been raised is the increase in mail-in voting. Ackerman said there are safeguards in place, with one exception.

“If someone else is delivering your ballot to the election authority they have to fill out the affidavit, they don’t have to do that if the post office is delivering it to us or if they’re utilizing a drop box, so there is a little bit of a loophole there,” Ackerman said.

Even then, Ackerman said the signature on the mail-in ballot must match the voter’s signature on file.

Former President Donald Trump last week said he’s concerned non-citizens are being registered to vote.

“They can not let illegal immigrants vote in this upcoming election,” Trump said Thursday.

The Illinois Election Integrity Program says on its website “Illegals are unlikely to show up at polling locations to cast ballots—once their names are on the rolls, bad actors will cast VBM ballots in their names.”

State Rep. Brad Halbrook, R-Shelbyville, said in a recent video the checks for citizenship status are not strong enough.

“At best, items required to prove identity and citizenship on the mail in form are falling short,” Halbrook said. “Voter verification to be registered to vote is basically non-existent.”

Ackerman tamped down those concerns.

“There is need for us to be resilient and making sure that we are following procedures and policies that are in place to prevent that but I just don’t see that being an overwhelming challenge right now,” Ackerman said.

One thing Ackerman said is a challenge is the U.S. Postal Service’s returning timely mail in ballots back to elections officials.

“We saw in the primary, increased delays which caused individual’s votes to not be counted because they were received too late,” he said.

Officials have 14 days after the election for mail in ballots postmarked by election day to be returned to local elections officials and counted.

In the 2024 primary, which had around 19% voter turnout, around 380,000 of the state’s 1.5 million votes counted were done by mail. Around 14,000 were rejected.

RINO-Backed Bill Aims to Force Closed-Primary States to Allow Cross-Party Voting

() A new bill pending in Congress would mandate open primaries across the country, giving roughly 23.5 million registered independents a chance to nominate candidates for federal office.

The Let America Vote Act, sponsored by Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and cosigned by Reps. Jared Golden, D-Maine; Andrew Garbarino, R-N.Y.; and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash., would impact 22 states where primary elections remained closed to registered party members.

“This commonsense reform is not political nor controversial,” Fitzpatrick said Monday on X. “It secures the fundamental right of every American citizen to vote, regardless of political affiliation, while safeguarding election integrity by prohibiting noncitizens from participating in tax-payer-funded elections.”

Fitzpatrick is considered to be one of the farthest-left leaning Republicans, and Pennsylvania is a closed-primary state, meaning Democrats and Independents would have to register as Republicans to support him.

According to Unite America, only 8% of eligible voters elected 83% of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022. So far this year, the organization says, 5% of voters have chosen 62% of the chamber.

Nick Troiano, the organization’s executive director, described the legislation as the “single greatest expansion of voting rights” since the voting age was lowered in 1971.

“At a time when a majority of voters identify as independent—including a majority of veterans who fought for our country and a majority of young people who are the future of our country—it’s unconscionable that closed primaries deny nearly 24 million unaffiliated Americans the right to vote in taxpayer-funded elections this year,” he claimed.

“This Act would end taxation without representation once and for all, and ensure every voter, regardless of party, can fully exercise their right to vote,” he added.

Critics say only party members should select nominees, refuting the claim that doing so puts more ideologically extreme candidates on the ballot by pointing to the fact that having members of the opposing party help select them tends only to boost the weakest candidates.

South Carolina, the state of former Republican primary challenger Nikki Haley, offers a shining example. Although considered to be one of the more conservative states, its reliance on open primaries has supported those like Haley, along with Sens. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, whose priorities do not necessarily align with the majority of South Carolinians.

Chris Tohir, in a 2023 policy brief for the Connecticut-based Yankee Institute, says of closed primaries, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

“American politics has a strong history and tradition of the power and autonomy of political parties to elect their own candidates with minimal interference,” he wrote. “Requiring that someone be a party member to vote in a primary is not disenfranchisement—it is freedom of association.”

Karine Jean-Pierre Admits Kamala Presidency Would Be Same as Biden’s

(Headline USA) White House press secretary Karine Jean–Pierre admitted this week that there would be no difference between an administration run by Vice President Kamala Harris and that of current President Joe Biden.

Jean–Pierre emphasized during a press briefing this week that there is “no daylight” between Biden and Harris and that the two are completely “aligned” on policy.

“[Harris is] going to lay out her vision,” Jean–Pierre said.

“But again, they’ve been aligned, you know—they’ve been aligned for the last three and a half years,” she continued. “There’s not been any daylight.”

Jean–Pierre’s comment could very well come back to bite the Biden administration, however, as Harris tries to distance herself from the unpopular 81-year-old.

“Annnnd… there goes Kamala efforts to distance herself from the last three years of Border failure as border czar,” Republican communicator Matt Whitlock joked.

ABC News contributor Sarah Isgur predicted former President Donald Trump’s campaign will eventually use Jean–Pierre’s answer in an ad.

“You can be sure this will be featuring in a Trump campaign ad in the Fall. I bet they call it ‘No Daylight,’” she said.

Shortly after, Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement thanking Jean-Pierre.

“Thank you @PressSec for confirming: there is ‘no daylight’ between Kamala and Joe! Kamala owns the border crisis. Kamala owns inflation. Kamala owns the wars, chaos, and crime over the past 4 years,” she wrote.

Harris’s campaign has offered very few details about the policies Harris plans to implement if elected in November, especially on hot-button issues such as immigration. Pressed on whether Harris believed Biden’s border policies had been ineffective, Jean–Pierre refused to answer.

“She did not say this. This is something that you are assuming. I don’t understand why you would assume that. It’s not true,” Jean–Pierre told Fox News’s Peter Doocy.

“You know who’s getting in the way, you know is getting in the way? Republicans in Congress, they’re getting in the way,” Jean-Pierre went on to claim. “You know who else is getting in the way? The former President Donald Trump, he’s getting in the way.”
