Spokane Police Defiant on Illegal Camping Enforcement, Despite SCOTUS Ruling

(The U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Martin v. Boise on Friday set up Spokane to finally enforce its voter-approved camping ban intended to curtail the scourge of homelessness, although not much has changed in the days since that decision.

The Grants Pass v. Johnson ruling reverses the precedent that prohibited cities from enforcing anti-camping ordinances if they lack enough shelter beds for their homeless population. The landmark decision set the stage for municipalities nationwide to begin prosecuting illegal camping.

Back in November, 75% of Spokane voters passed Proposition 1, which made camping within 1,000 feet of parks, daycare or schools illegal. The voter-approved ordinance also bans camping within 50 feet of a viaduct and three blocks of any congregate shelter.

However, the Spokane Police Department never fully enforced Prop 1 or the city’s “sit and lie” ordinance due to concerns from fallout over the Martin v. Boise decision. But now that it’s been overturned, SPD Interim Chief Justin Lundgren said police will at least think about abiding by the law.

“Officers will respond to illegal camping complaints as able and warranted,” Lundgren wrote in a statement, “depending on the particular situation, other calls for service, and staffing.”

Councilmember Jonathan Bingle sent out a draft resolution on Tuesday, calling on Mayor Lisa Brown to direct SPD to fully enforce Prop 1. The measure also requests that Brown implement an educational campaign to inform residents of the effects of Grants Pass v. Johnson.

Currently, SPD requires residents to call its non-emergency number before responding to an illegal camping incident; however, Bingle said there’s no provision in Prop 1 that requires constituents to call 311.

“Prop 1 is on the books; it is a law, it needs to be enforced,” Bingle said. “There’s no justifiable reason or position for us to not enforce this law. Whether city council wants to or not is irrelevant; it’s time to enforce these laws.”

Still, he understands that understaffing might limit SPD’s ability to enforce Prop 1 and other crimes throughout Spokane.

Leftist cities cut their law-enforcement considerably in 2020, in the aftermath of the George Floyd race riots, and are now dealing with the consequences of the “defund the police” movement.

Bingle said SPD is “woefully understaffed for a city our size” and desperately needs to bolster its numbers to prioritize illegal camping and other crimes.

Bingle recognizes the associated costs of enforcing Prop 1, but said the city also has a duty to keep its community safe.

On Tuesday, Bingle emailed Sheldon Jackson, chief executive officer and founder of Selkirk Development, asking him to disseminate the draft resolution to his informal “SPOTLIGHT” newsletter, which includes around 200 community members, including some elected officials.

Jackson regularly patrols Spokane in his free time, counting the homeless people in various parts of the city before reporting back to the newsletter.

On Tuesday morning, he counted 51 individuals in the area where Brown declared a state of emergency only a few weeks prior.

“We are trying to figure out how to eliminate the need to contact 311 for enforcing Prop 1,” Bingle wrote in an email to Jackson. “But we need everyone to report based on Prop 1 until we have that process completed. Please start right now.”

Jackson provided an interactive map outlining all the areas within city limits where camping is currently illegal under local law; included in those areas are the House of Charity homeless shelter and CAT Spokane, or Compassionate Addiction Treatment, a local service provider.

Unverified reports are circulating that City Attorney Mike Piccolo gave the go-ahead to fully enforce Prop 1 without restrictions. He did not respond to a request for comment.

SPD Spokeswoman Julie Humphreys could not verify whether or not the department had issued any citations for illegal camping since Friday’s decision.

‘It’s Just My Brain’: Biden Defends Health as Dem. Governors Call for Resignation

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The New York Times published a bombshell scoop Thursday, signaling the end is near for President Joe Biden as an increasing number of Democrats are abandoning ship.

The Times’s Thursday piece detailed a meeting Biden had with Democratic governors, where he told them he needs to get more sleep and work fewer hours, including curtailing events after 8 p.m.

“He described his extensive foreign travel in the weeks before the debate, something that the White House and his allies have in recent days cited as the reason for his halting performance during the debate,” the Times reported, citing unnamed sources who were in the meeting.

“Initially, Mr. Biden’s campaign blamed a cold, putting out word about midway through the debate amid a series of social media posts questioning why Mr. Biden was struggling.”

Perhaps the most shocking part of the article was Biden’s defense of his health. He reportedly told the governors that “it’s just my brain.” Some governors reportedly took the comment as a joke, but others weren’t so sure.

Either way, Biden apparently didn’t convince the governors that he should still be running.

“Multiple governors who participated in the meeting expressed dismay afterward that there had been little debate about whether Mr. Biden should continue his 2024 presidential campaign,” the Times reported.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, for example, reportedly told Biden in the meeting that he’s received a groundswell of wishes from various people that Biden would end his campaign.

Maine and New Mexico’s governors also voiced concerns.

“Ms. Mills said that people didn’t think Mr. Biden was up to running, and Ms. Lujan Grisham said she was worried that the president could lose her state,” the Times added.

Despite all that negative feedback, Biden seems intent on remaining in the race.

“The fact that Mr. Biden began the conversation with the governors by declaring that he was continuing on left some participants feeling that any further discussion about the state of play was chilled,” the Times reported.

Trump Calls Biden ‘Old Broken Down Pile of Crap’ in Candid Golf Course Video

(Elias Irizarry, Headline USA) A candid video showing former President Donald Trump trash-talking President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris went viral—potentially having the opposite effect of what the leakers may have intended.

Trump is shown in the video riding in a golf cart with his youngest son, Barron—a rare sighting of the recent high-school graduate who has so far stayed away from the political scene, declining a nomination to be a delegate for the Republican National Convention.

In the video, the former president asks three men, one of whom is recording, how he did in his June 27 debate with President Joe Biden.

Trump goes on to call Biden an “old-broken down pile of crap” while handing a pair of $20 bills from a large stack from his pocket.

“He just quit, you know, he’s quitting the race,” Trump tells the men. “That means we have Kamala.”

Trump goes on to reassure them that his expected new opponent will not be any worse a threat than the prior one.

“She’s so bad, she’s so pathetic,” he says of Harris. “She’s so f**king bad.”

Trump then presumably turns the discussion back to Biden, joking about his dealings with foreign leaders.

“Can you imagine that guy dealing with Putin? And the president of China, who’s a fierce person. He’s a fierce man, very tough guy—and they see him,” he says.

“Just keep knocking ’em out,” Trump says before driving off with his son.

The video, obtained by the Daily Beast and posted July 3, was likely intended to paint presumptive GOP presidential nominee in a negative light. However, it quickly backfired.

Within hours, Trump posted the video on his Truth Social page with the “NO TAX ON TIPS!”—linking his generous caddy gratuity to one of his recently announced policy proposals.

The online reaction to the video appeared to mostly be in Trump’s favor, with conservative pundit Jack Posobiec, editor of the site Human Rights, posting the video on X, with the comment, “We don’t deserve him.”

Candance Owens, host of The Candace podcast, quoted the post, “How could a leaked video be this magnificent and altogether good for his brand?”

Biden–Harris spokesperson, Sarafina Chitika, responded to the video with a statement writing a long list of responses of things things that they claim Trump did that are “bad.”

A poll done by J.L. Partners shows Trump leading Biden by 5 points. When Biden is replaced with Harris in a hypothetical poll, Trump appears to hold an even larger lead, 11 points above the vice president and possible future nominee.

HuffPost Encourages Biden Campaign to Push Disinfor Using Fake AI

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) In a bizarre op-ed, Huffington Post writer Kaivan Shroff suggested that the President Joe Biden and his campaign should consider using artificial intelligence to dupe the American people into voting for him.

Shroff began by noting that “the stakes” of the election “cannot be overstated” because the future of democracy “hangs in the balance,” rhetoric which, he assured the reader, “is not hyperbolic.”

It is “the greatest moral and ethical imperative for those who care about American democracy” to defeat former President Donald Trump, he opined.

As a result, the ends justified the means, even if that entailed continuing the campaign’s ongoing efforts to gaslight low-information voters into thinking Biden is fitter and healthier than he is, but with additional assistance from AI to more “effectively reach the voting public.”

It is not entirely clear that the campaign hasn’t already been relying on this tactic in what have appeared to be the president’s more lucid moments on camera.

While admitting that using AI to present a smoother, more well-spoken Biden could be deceptive, Shroff ultimately concluded that such deception would be worthwhile if it led to a Biden victory.

“We must ask the question, are augmented AI videos that present Biden in his best form―while sharing honest and accurate information―really more socially damaging than our information ecosystem’s current realities?” Shroff wrote. “I think not.”

Such conversations seem to be inevitable for the left after Biden’s disastrous debate performance last month, for which his defenders have thrown out every excuse in the book as Trump surges in swing state polls.

On Wednesday, for instance, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blamed Biden’s jet lag from a flight weeks before the debate, along with a cold that he allegedly had.

“It’s the jet lag and also the cold–it is the two things that occurred,” Jean-Pierre told reporters at a Tuesday press conference.

Biden cronies have also used AI as an excuse in the past—but for the opposite end, to accuse Republicans of the threat of spreading disinformation by altering the audio in Biden’s special counsel interview with Robert Hur.

It was the basis of that interview that prompted Hur not to pursue charges, concluding Biden was unfit to stand trial for the felonies.

However, Attorney General Merrick Garland cited executive privilege in insisting that he was under no obligation to release the audio file. House Republicans held him in contempt of Congress and subsequently filed a lawsuit that could result in legal consequences for Garland under the next administration.

Leftists afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome have become increasingly unhinged when faced with the prospect of a Biden candidacy, proposing ever more drastic, dangerous and anti-democratic courses of action to counter the will of the people.

A Pennsylvania lawmaker named Matthew Croyle went viral for all the wrong reasons on Wednesday after authoring a post on X that suggested leftists with Trump-supporting relatives kill them now before they have the chance to strike first.

Shock Poll: Biden’s Support Among Women INCREASES after Debate Disaster

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) A poll from the New York Times and Siena College showed that support for President Joe Biden among women increased despite his shaky, worrisome debate performance, according to Legal Insurrection.

“This could end up being a Battle of the Sexes election, with Trump surging among men, while women are still ‘riding with Biden,'” warned Legal Insurrection founder William Jacobson, a Cornell University law professor.

Former President Donald Trump, the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee, took the lead in the national polls, with his lead among men, non-voters, independents and Generation X vastly increasing.

Men within these various demographic groups accounted for the majority of Trump’s gains.

Biden’s support among women rose by seven points.

Trump gained three additional points over Biden in the poll overall with 49%, and Biden trailing behind at 43%.

This is the largest lead taken by Trump in a New York Times poll.

Many respondents of the poll expressed concern at Biden’s mental state and said they believe him to be too fragile to adequately withstand the stress of the presidential office.

Despite the concerns over Biden’s acuity and mental adeptness, his support among black voters, city dwellers and college graduates also rose.

In total, 74% of voters expressed concern that Biden, 81, is too old for the job, up 5 percentage points after the debate.

Democrat concern for Biden’s aging spiked by 8% after the debate; 79% of independents also said they were worried, almost matching the Republican’s perturbation.

After the debate, a chorus of Democrat lawmakers and donors demanded that Biden prove his ability to serve for four more years.

The findings of the NYT/Siena poll appeared consistent with other polls taken after the debate.

In the midst of the post-debate fallout, Biden’s team faced losses among independents and swing states.

Congressional Republicans attempted to invoke the 25th Amendment, urging his Cabinet to declare him unfit to rule.

“There’s a lot of people asking about invoking the 25th Amendment right now, because this is an alarming situation,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La. “Our adversaries see the weakness in this White House, as we all do.”

Media Lying About Trump’s Felony Convictions

(Elias Irizarry, Headline USA) Since President Donald Trump’s conviction in a New York trial regarding his Stormy Daniels case, Democrats and the media have sought to capitalize on the occasion —labeling the former President a “convicted felon.”

However, it turns out that Trump isn’t even a convicted felon yet — and he might never be.

Will Scharf, an attorney for Trump, joined Charlie Kirk on Real America’s Voice to defend the former President and caution media outlets about possible consequences for falsely labeling the President a convicted felon.

“Trump is not a convicted felon. A jury verdict is not a final judgment until the moment of sentencing—which now may never occur,” Scharf commented in response to Kirk.

Scharf makes the case that for Trump to be officially a convicted felon, he must be sentenced first. Trump was originally planned to face sentencing from Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the case, on July 11.

However, following the Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. United States on 1 July granting Trump immunity in ‘official acts’, Judge Merchan delayed the sentencing to Sept. 18 to allow Trump’s team time to file a motion to dismiss, and for judges to deliberate regarding the new ruling.

Kirk then asked Scharf if Trump would be able to sue the media for defamation in response to their labeling of him as a convicted felon.

“I’m going to watch my words here, but I’ll say that we sued George Stephanopoulos for defamation.” Scharf responded, “If I were folks on the Left, I would choose their words very carefully in the months ahead.”

Black Lawmakers Recount Badass Trump Story on Handling Terrorists

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, shared a compelling story of President Donald Trump’s decisive handling of terrorists in Afghanistan during an interview on Tuesday.

Describing it as his “favorite President Trump story,” Hunt highlighted Trump’s assertive foreign policy, contrasting it sharply with President Joe Biden’s approach.

According to Hunt, Trump was negotiating an orderly withdrawal from Afghanistan and issued a stark warning to the Taliban about harming Americans.

“President Trump looked at the Taliban leader and said this, ‘I want to leave Afghanistan but it’s going to be a conditions-based withdrawal,’ … and he said, ‘If you harm a hair on a single American, I’m going to kill you,” Hunt recounted on the Sage Steele Show.

Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., who was also present during the interview, corroborated the story.

Hunt noted the shock on an Afghan translator’s face at Trump’s remarks. Trump then insisted the translator convey his exact words to the Taliban leader.

“Trump said, ‘Tell him. Tell him what I said,'” Hunt stated.

Trump then dramatically produced a satellite photo of the Taliban leader’s home, handed it over, and left the room.

This threat had a profound impact. Hunt claimed that “for 18 months, not a single American was killed in Afghanistan.”

Donalds agreed, affirming, “Sure did.”

Describing Trump’s actions as “the definition of strength,” Hunt added, “That’s what I’m talking about and so, you can imagine that type of sentiment being around the world.”

Concluding the story, the Texas Republican stated, “If we have an embassy in another country, no one’s going to touch it because they’re going to be fearful … that’s how President Trump runs.”

Nearly 2 Million Illegal Immigrants Have Escaped into Country under Biden

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The House Judiciary Committee released a report Wednesday, finding that nearly 2 million illegal immigrants have escaped into the U.S. during Joe Biden’s presidency.

Wednesday’s report detailed how the Biden administration has subsidized those illegal inflows through a variety of programs that make it easier for migrants to enter the country.

“With President Biden’s open-borders policies fueling a spike in illegal immigration at the southwest border, the number of illegal aliens released into the United States has eclipsed  million, with at least 1.9 million known ‘gotaways’ escaping into the country,” the report said.

“Despite these historic numbers, the Biden Administration continues to incentivize mass illegal immigration into the United States.”

Illegal immigration subsidies cited by the report include the Alternatives to Detention  programs, the Young Adult Case Management Program, and the Case Management Pilot Program.

Those programs “provide a wide range of taxpayer-funded services to illegal aliens, including legal orientation, social services referrals, mental health support, and services to assist illegal aliens in returning to their home countries after being removed from the United States,” the report said.

“As a result, illegal aliens can receive assistance not only from their first days in the United States but also even after they have been ordered removed from the country,” the report added.

Wednesday’s Judiciary report comes on the heels of new data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which showed that more than 241,000 people were apprehended after illegally entering the U.S. in May. That month, the majority of illegal entries occurred at the southwest border of 170,723.

May’s numbers push the total number of apprehensions and encounters of illegal border crossers to more than 2.2 million in the first eight months of fiscal 2024.

‘Mr.’ Fauci, Concerned About Trump Victory, Gives Biden Medical Diagnosis

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Dr. Anthony Fauci, the embattled former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, rushed to defend President Joe Biden following what many have called a “bloodbath” presidential debate.

In an interview with CBS News on Thursday, Fauci suggested that Biden’s poor performance might have been due to cold medicine or simply a “bad night.”

Drawing from his past interactions with Biden, Fauci asserted, “When you go into briefing him, you better really know your topic because he’s going to ask you very relevant questions and he’s very reflective on things and just doesn’t jump out with conclusions or anything.”

Tellingly, Fauci deflected when CBS anchor Major Garrett asked if anything during the debate was “medically” alarming, referring to Biden’s memory lapses, constant gaffes and inability to defend his record coherently.

“No, I can’t say. I think it would be inappropriate to say that Major, because when you’re looking at someone on a one-shot basis, you just don’t know what could happen,” the leftist doctor replied.

The White House has claimed, without evidence, that Biden’s poor performance was due to a bad cold rather than cognitive issues or age. At 81, Biden is the oldest president in American history.

Fauci echoed this defense during the CBS interview, stating, “Did he have a bad cold? Did he take an antihistamine to make him groggy? We don’t know what went on—and I think it would be unfair and inappropriate to trying to diagnose something from a 90-minute clip.”

Fauci’s comments come as he promotes his latest book, On Call: A Doctor’s Journey in Public Service, in which he discusses his tenure as the chief COVID-19 czar during the Trump and Biden administrations.

He retired in 2022 after a brief stint as Biden’s chief medical advisor, a post he began in January 2021. He was the director of NIAID since 1984.

Ever since leaving government, Fauci has spent much of his retirement on cable news attacking conservatives and helping Biden.

Report: Medication Prompted Violent Thoughts w/ Nashville Trans Shooter

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The Tennessee Star revealed this week that Nashville mass shooter Audrey Hale had suicidal thoughts prompted by Prozac and other medication.

Hale, a 28-year-old woman who was identifying as a man at the time of the mass shooting, gunned down three Christian children and three adults in March 2023 before being killed by law enforcement.

Citing police records, The Star reported Tuesday that Hale first experienced suicidal thoughts when prescribed the antidepressant Prozac as a high school student.

Hale’s mother, Norma Hale, reportedly told Nashville police that her daughter “did have suicidal ideation when she was a sophomore in high school” when a psychiatrist “put her on Prozac.”

“Before we got her off the medication, I would sleep on a sleeping bag in front of her door just to make sure that she did not leave the room. And then she was okay,” Hale added.

In a separate article, The Star also revealed Tuesday that Hale was diagnosed with five mental disorders in 2011: anxiety disorder, social phobia, dysthymia disorder, major depressive disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.

“Ronald Hale and Norma Hale told MNPD investigators that Audrey Hale was given the diagnosis after a series of tests were administered by an individual who appears to be employed by Vanderbilt University and affiliated with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where police documents revealed Audrey Hale was a 22-year mental health patient prior to her March 27, 2023, attack,” The Star added.

The Star’s articles this week follow a release last month of internal medical notes about the shooter. According to those notes, Hale told psych workers about “recent thoughts of going into a school and shooting a bunch of people.” Hale began receiving treatment at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on April 23, 2001, when the shooter was just six years old.

According to The Star, Nashville police may be investigating whether Hale confided to a VUMC staff member about violent fantasies.
