Colombian Nationals in Skid Row Say Life Was Better Back Home  

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A group of self-described Colombian nationals said life was better in their home country than in California’s Skid Row, where they now reside in tents. 

The individuals were interviewed by 23-year-old independent journalist Nick Shirley, whose videos have gone viral for documenting fraud allegations in Minnesota. 

The unidentified interviewees, some of whom said they had children, live out of tents in Skid Row, a Los Angeles neighborhood infamous for its homeless population, drug use and crime. 

“We thought that our lives were going to change, and not live like dogs,” a man said in Spanish.  His Spanish accent sounded more Venezuelan, though he may have previously lived in Colombia before coming to the U.S. 

“We aren’t animals. We are human beings, but damn, look at the kids. We got children here. A little baby,” that man added. 

Shirley then knelt to interview a child and a woman who were inside a green tent. 

“Did you know life was going to be like this when you crossed the border?” Shirley asked a woman. She replied, “no.” 

Shirley then asked the child, identified as Dylan, whether he enjoyed living in the U.S. 

“No,” the child replied. 

The video then cuts to Shirley asking the first individual whether his quality of life has improved in the U.S. compared to Colombia. 

“In Colombia. Here? 1,000 times in Colombia?” the man replied. 

 It is not immediately clear when the individuals entered the U.S. It is also unclear when Shirley will release the full episode of the interview. 

The interview is not the first time foreign nationals have been documented living in Skid Row. The issue has persisted since Joe Biden took office in 2021.

Canadian Mass Shooter ‘Went Crazy’ after Taking Shrooms

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The transgender Canadian who murdered his mother, half-brother, five students and a teacher before killing himself in a mass shooting on Tuesday went “crazy” on psychedelic mushrooms last year, and had numerous encounters with law enforcement over the last decade, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Journal reported Saturday that 18-year-old school shooter Jesse Van Rootselaar—a biological male who went mostly by the name Jesse Strang—was “well-known to the local police,” due in large part to mental health issues.

“More than once, police said, Van Rootselaar was apprehended for assessment under the province’s mental-health law,” the Journal reported. “But she always returned home. At one point, guns being kept in the residence were taken by police and later given back when someone living there petitioned for them.”

Rootselaar, who simulated a mass shooting on the online gaming platform Roblox, seems to have had a rough childhood. His life was reportedly “uprooted” numerous times, including once when his mother took her across the country against his father’s wishes—an action a judge later described as “reprehensible conduct.”

Rootselaar’s mental health apparently deteriorated in his teenage years, compounded by the use of narcotics. At one point, he posted online that he “went crazy and burnt my house down” after her second time trying psychedelic mushrooms—adding that the shrooms “made me go straight into dangerous psychosis,” according to the Journal.

Police are reportedly still investigating how Rootselaar obtained the four firearms he used in last week’s attack.

“The two guns believed to have been the primary ones used were never previously seized by police and are unregistered,” the Journal added.

Two Politicians Finger Innocent Citizens in Reckless Epstein Document Dump

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Reps. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., and Thomas Massie, R-Ky., are under fire for exposing the identities of individuals named in the DOJ’s release of files pertaining to deceased sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, despite having no ties to the late convicted sex offender. 

The men appeared in a photo lineup alongside Epstein as part of prosecutors’ efforts to have potential victims identify him. 

Two of the men reportedly had no ties to Epstein. Some acknowledged prior arrests, which may explain why their photos appeared in the lineup. 

The DOJ said their identities were concealed due to the limited and procedural nature of their inclusion in the files. 

Despite this, Khanna read the men’s names from a list on Friday, claiming they were “wealthy, powerful men that the DOJ hid” in the Epstein files “for no apparent reason.” 

Khanna obtained the names after he and Massie pushed the DOJ to unseal their identities. 

After Khanna read the names on the House floor, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche wrote on X that two lawmakers “forced the unmasking of completely random people selected years ago for an FBI lineup—men and women.” 

He added, “These individuals have NOTHING to do with Epstein or Maxwell.” 

Blanche stated that of the six individuals identified by Khanna, only two appeared elsewhere in the Epstein files. 

“The other two men – Les Wexner and Sultan [Ahmed] bin Sulayem- were unredacted in the one document, and are referenced in the files nearly two hundred times and over 4,700 times respectively,” Blanche continued. 

In response, Massie said he had previously noted that the four men may have appeared in a lineup. 

“Maybe you should have checked with your folks first, or provided some context, instead of trying to beat my TV appearance and then blaming us,” Massie wrote on X.

Khanna echoed those claims, accusing the DOJ of failing to “to provide any explanation for their arbitrary redactions in violation of the law” and then unredacting “them without explaining the context that Massie and I had asked for.”

DEA Agent Charged for Accepting Bribes to Fast-Track Visas in Dominican Republic

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The DOJ announced Friday the arrest and charges of a top DEA agent accused of accepting bribes in exchange for his assistance in helping foreign nationals obtain U.S. visas during his deployment to the Dominican Republic. 

U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro said that DEA Supervisory Special Agent Meliton Cordero allegedly expedited no fewer than 119 visa applications in exchange for thousands of dollars. 

Cordero had been assigned to work out of the U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic for the past six years. During this period, he allegedly often coached visa applicants before their interviews with U.S. Consular Officers. 

In one instance, an application is believed to have been fraudulent, the DOJ said. 

Cordero appeared to have been a highly influential American official in the Dominican Republic, according to Headline USA’s review of articles reporting on his participation in several events. 

So much so that Cordero had been recognized by Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader with the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella, one of the country’s top presidential medals bearing the last names of the country’s founders. 

Following the allegations, the Trump administration temporarily shut down the DEA office in the Dominican Republic pending an investigation. 

Pirro scolded Cordero following the allegations in both a press statement and a video posted on X. 

“This individual was entrusted by the American people to faithfully execute his duties and represent the American Government abroad as a leader within the DEA,” Pirro said. “Instead, he is alleged to have broken the law, squandered this special trust and undercut the President’s immigration priorities.” 

She added, “This behavior by any government official is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.” 

The DOJ stated that the case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service, the Office of the Inspector General within the DOJ, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

DOJ Declines to Prosecute FBI Official Who Threatened Hotel Worker w/ Gun

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The DOJ Inspector General issued a report Thursday, finding that an FBI official threatened a hotel worker with a government-issued firearm during a verbal confrontation. However, Justice Department officials have declined to prosecute the official.

According to the report, the DOJ-OIG received information from the FBI that an assistant section chief “exhibited their government-issued firearm to a hotel staff member during a verbal confrontation with that staff member.”

The inspector general’s investigation substantiated that allegation. The DOJ-OIG found that not only did the FBI official flash a gun; the official also “lacked candor” during the interview with the inspector general.

Despite apparently threatening a hotel worker with a gun and lying about it afterward, the DOJ declined to prosecute the FBI official.

“The OIG has completed its investigation and provided its report to the FBI for appropriate action,” Thursday’s report said, providing no further details.

The FBI rarely takes action against officials who are caught by the DOJ-OIG committing wrongdoing.

Last September, for instance, the DOJ-OIG found that an FBI assistant director and another employee who went on a 13-day vacation funded by the U.S. taxpayers.

The assistant director retired before the DOJ-OIG contacted him/her for an interview. The inspector general is unable to compel retired personnel to participate in interviews. It’s unclear what happened to the other FBI employee who went on the trip.

Two months before that, the DOJ-OIG found that a then-FBI supervisory special agent solicited and used prostitutes overseas. However, the Justice Department declined to prosecute the agent.

And according to a 2020 Associated Press article entitled, ‘Under the rug:’ Sexual misconduct shakes FBI’s senior ranks, the last time the OIG did an extensive probe of sexual misconduct within the FBI, it tallied 343 “offenses” from fiscal years 2009 to 2012, including three instances of “videotaping undressed women without consent.”

That AP investigation identified at least six sexual misconduct allegations involving senior FBI officials over the past five years, including two new claims brought by women who say they were sexually assaulted by ranking agents.

“Each of the accused FBI officials appears to have avoided discipline, the AP found, and several were quietly transferred or retired, keeping their full pensions and benefits even when probes substantiated the sexual misconduct claims against them,” the AP reported in December 2020.

‘Stacey Abrams Tanks’: Trump Names 60-Ton Warfighting Machine after Foe

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Donald Trump on Friday poked fun at Stacey Abrams, the twice-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate and leftist activist, saying that he named a 60-ton battle tank after her. 

Trump made the quip during a speech addressing military families at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, ahead of Valentine’s Day. 

“To give you all of the equipment you need, we’re also purchasing 30 new and modified Abrams tanks. Still the best tank, right, still? It was named in honor of Stacey Abrams,” Trump said, drawing laughter from the crowd. 

“Only a few very political people would understand that. Congratulations. Thank you very much for a great name, Stacey—but brand new Abrams tanks,” Trump added. 

Trump’s joke prompted many supporters to mock Abrams on X, with some placing her photo next to the M60 tanks. 

Abrams, who has not replied to the quip, is best known for her unsuccessful bids for Georgia governor in 2018 and 2022 against Brian Kemp. Headline USA sought comment from her.

She is now largely active on social media and hosts a podcast, where she frequently criticizes Trump. 

In recent years, Abrams has faced backlash after her two nonprofits, the New Georgia Project and the New Georgia Project Action Fund, failed to register as political committees despite campaigning on her behalf and were fined $300,000.

Woman Tries to Burn Down Warehouse Over ICE Rumors 

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A woman was caught on video attempting to burn down a warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri, over claims the building was being converted into an ICE detention center. 

The video, published by KMBC 9, showed the unidentified woman pouring an unknown liquid on the warehouse’s windows before igniting it, the outlet reported Friday. 

The warehouse is based in Kansas City, Missouri. 

“Video from our crew shows the woman igniting window areas at the building and flames briefly flaring up,” the outlet reported. “KMBC 9 reporter Andy Alcock said he witnessed the woman throw what appeared to be a liquid onto the windows before the fire started.” 

Firefighters with the Grandview Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames before they could spread, the outlet added. 

According to KCTV, the Kansas City Police Department said an emergency call prompted officers to respond at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday.  

The outlet noted that the warehouse’s owner, Platform Ventures, had previously attempted to sell the property to the federal government for use as an immigration detention facility. 

The company announced Thursday that the proposed sale had been called off. 

Police are still searching for the woman.

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The sheriff of a Washington county praised one of his deputies Friday for maintaining his composure while being harassed by a self-styled activist filming him and attempting to lecture him near an elementary school. 

Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders stood by his deputy after the woman repeatedly cursed and lectured him about “fascism” on Thursday. The exchange, recorded by the woman and posted on Instagram, has since gone viral on social media. 

In a Facebook post sharing the video, Sanders said he would “be placing a letter of commendation in Deputy Domeno’s file for his tact, professionalism, and unwillingness to take the escalation bait that was set for him during this encounter.” 

The comments came amid the viral spread of a video that appeared to have been recorded by social media user “Nani Poonani.” 

During the altercation, the woman demanded to know what Deputy Domeno was doing there. Taken aback, he explained he was completing a collision report. 

The woman continued pressing, accusing the deputy of “circling since about 8” and warning that he was “scaring these families.”  

Domeno calmly explained that the collision had just occurred and he was finishing his report. 

Doubling down on her claims, the woman snapped, “You should probably go do your job where your job is”—later launching a tirade about “the defending line between us and the fucking fascism.”  

In response, Domeno stated, “With absolutely all due respect, I’m not gonna continue to go back and forth. I’m gonna try to finish my job as fast as possible.” 

In a separate Instagram post reviewed by Headline USA, the woman doubled down on her grandstanding, this time targeting white men. 

“I still think cops are facilitating the harm of people they swore to protect,” she wrote. “Even without lip filler, Imma keep screaming, LAND BACK WORLDWIDE. White men take a seat!” 

Headline USA contacted the woman behind the clip and offered her a chance for an interview. She did not reply before this article’s publication.

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A graphic showing the percentage of border entries during the Biden administration has gone viral on social media, highlighting that a significant portion of some countries’ populations made their way into the U.S. 

The graphic, created by data scientist Jonathan Pallesen and shared Friday via X, shows that between four and six percent of the populations of Nicaragua, Cuba, Honduras, Haiti, Guatemala and Venezuela were encountered at the border. 

Those figures include the thousands of individuals that Joe Biden’s administration imported under the controversial CHNV program.  

The program — Parole for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans — allowed participants to enter the U.S. for up to two years if they met specific qualifications, including an affidavit of support from a U.S. citizen and claims of persecution. 

The graphic shows Nicaraguans as the most frequently encountered group, with more than 6 percent of the country’s roughly 7.1 million people being represented.  

Nicaraguans were followed by Cubans, also exceeding 6 percent of a population of more than 10 million. 

Hondurans accounted for more than 5 percent of their population of roughly 11 million. Haitians accounted for more than 3 percent of a population exceeding 11 million 

Guatemala and Venezuela were nearly tied, each exceeding 3 percent, with populations of roughly 18 million and over 30 million, respectively. 

Headline USA could not independently verify the graphic’s figures, but a review of border encounters shows that in FY2023, more than 334,000 Venezuelans were encountered nationwide. 

In FY2024, that number was more than 313,000. Nicaragua recorded 138,729 encounters in FY2023 and 91,049 in FY2024. 

Border encounters reflect every instance an individual was stopped at the border, including expulsions and repeated attempts. A single individual may be counted several times if they came across agents at the border more than once.

Trans-led School Massacre in Canada Sparks Media Spin

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Some news outlets in Canada rushed to protect the preferred gender identity of the unhinged suspect behind one of the deadliest school shootings in their country’s history. 

The suspect, Jesse Van Rootselaar—a biological male who identified as transgender—killed six people at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School on Tuesday. Rootselaar killed himself shortly after the mass shooting. 

Critics online noted that the media appeared more focused on optics as more details about Rootselaar began emerging online. 

CityNews drew backlash after using what seemed to be an AI-enhanced or photoshopped image of Rootselaar as the thumbnail for a YouTube video covering the massacre.  

The altered image appeared to soften the suspect’s facial features. Online commenters quickly noted it made Rootselaar look more feminine. 

Headline USA confirmed the altered image by running it through Google Lens, which traced it back to CityNews’ YouTube upload. By then, the outlet had quietly swapped the thumbnail for what appeared to be the original photo, showing Rootselaar with more defined and masculine features. 

Screenshots circulating online indicated that the video had already surpassed 100,000 views before the image was updated. 

Another outlet, Canadian ABC News, not affiliated with the U.S. network, also sparked outrage after posting on X that the suspect was an “18-year-old woman with mental health issues.” 

The post drew more than one million views and was eventually hit with a Community Note bluntly stating: “The shooter is a biological male who allegedly self-identifies as a transgender woman.” 

Nowhere in the accompanying article did the outlet clearly state that Rootselaar was a biological male. 

Tuesday’s mass shooting reignited debate online over high-profile violence carried out by individuals who identified as transgender or non-binary. 

For instance, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was killed by Taylor Robinson, a 22-year-old man who reportedly told his transgender-identifying boyfriend he “had enough of [Kirk’s] hatred.” 

In 2025, Robert “Robin” Westman, a man who identified as transgender, killed two children and injured 17 others at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. 

In 2022, Anderson Lee Aldrich opened fire at Colorado’s Club Q, killing five people and wounding 19. Defense attorneys later said Aldrich identified as non-binary. 

In 2019, one of the two shooters at STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado was identified as a transgender individual. The attack left one student dead and eight others injured, according to reports at the time.
