Another Asian Opposition Leader Openly Targeted for Assassination

(Headline USA) Just a year and a half since the July 2022 assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe shook the world, another Asian leader was attacked in broad daylight, raising questions as to whether there might be some connection—and it so, who is behind them and why?

The attack followed just days after South Korea’s government acknowledged that it was staging “decapitation drills” for the possible assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to the New York Post.

Abe was known as the de-facto opposition leader of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party—which is, despite its name, considered to be the country’s more conservative branch.

Lee Jae-myung, South Korea’s left-wing opposition leader, was stabbed in the neck by an unidentified knife-wielding man who attempted to kill him during his visit to the southeastern city of Busan on Tuesday, police said.

Lee, 59, was airlifted to a Seoul hospital after receiving emergency treatment in Busan. Lee’s party later said he was recovering at an intensive care unit at the Seoul National University Hospital following a two-hour operation.

The attack happened as Lee walked through a crowd of journalists and others after a tour of the proposed site of a new airport in Busan.

The attacker approached Lee, saying he wanted his autograph, then stabbed him in the left side of his neck, senior Busan police officer Sohn Jae-han said in a briefing.

Sohn said Democratic Party officials quickly subdued the attacker before police officers detained him. He said 41 police officers had been deployed to the area for crowd control and traffic management.

TV footage showed Lee, his eyes closed, lying on the ground as a person pressed a handkerchief to his neck. A witness, Jin Jeong-hwa, told YTN television that Lee had bled a lot.

Videos circulated on social media showed the suspect, wearing a paper crown reading “I’m Lee Jae-myung,” in a possible attempt to pose as a supporter.

Sohn said the suspect, aged about 67, told investigators that he bought the 7-inch knife online. He said police are investigating the motive for the attack.

Other officers confirmed to the Associated Press that police are expected to request that the suspect be formally arrested for alleged attempted murder because he told investigators he intended to kill Lee.

Lee’s Democratic Party called the incident “a terrorist attack on Lee and a serious threat to democracy.” It called on police to make a through, swift investigation.

At the Seoul National University Hospital, party spokesperson Kwon Chil-seung told reporters that Lee’s jugular vein was damaged and that he had a medical procedure called revascularization.

Kwon cited the hospital, whose public affairs office refused to disclose Lee’s status, citing privacy rules.

Police and emergency officials earlier said Lee was conscious after the attack and wasn’t in critical condition.

President Yoon Suk Yeol expressed deep concern about Lee’s health and ordered authorities to investigate the attack, saying such violence would not be tolerated, according to Yoon’s office.

Lee lost the 2022 presidential election to Yoon by 0.7 percentage point, the narrowest margin recorded in a South Korean presidential election.

Recent public surveys indicated Lee and his main conservative rival Han Dong-hoon, a former justice minister, are the two early favorites to succeed Yoon as president when his single five-year term ends in 2027.

Since his defeat, Lee has been a harsh critic of Yoon’s major policies. Last year, Lee held a 24-day hunger strike to protest what he called Yoon’s failure to oppose Japan’s release of treated radioactive wastewater from its crippled Fukushima nuclear power, his handling of the country’s post-pandemic economy and his hard-line policies on North Korea.

Lee faces an array of corruption allegations, including that he provided unlawful favors to a private investor who reaped huge profits from a dubious housing project in the city of Seongnam, where Lee was mayor for a decade until 2018. Lee has denied legal wrongdoing and accused Yoon’s government of pursuing a political vendetta.

Last September, a South Korean court denied an arrest warrant for Lee over the allegations, but Lee faces a continuing investigation by prosecutors.

The court hearing was arranged after the opposition-controlled parliament voted to lift Lee’s immunity to arrest, a move that reflected growing divisions within his Democratic Party over his legal troubles.

Lee, who also served as governor of Gyeonggi province, which surrounds Seoul, is known for his outspoken style. His supporters see him as an anti-elitist hero who could reform establishment politics, eradicate corruption and solve growing economic inequality.

Critics view him as a populist who relies on stoking divisions and demonizing his conservative opponents.

Other violence against high-profile figures has occurred in South Korea in recent years.

In March 2022, Song Young-gil, then the leader of the Democratic Party, was assaulted by a man wielding a hammer during a rally for Lee ahead of the presidential vote. Song was treated for stitches but avoided serious injury.

In 2015, then-U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert was slashed in the face and arm by an anti-American activist. The assault required 80 stitches to close the cut on Lippert’s face.

In 2006, Park Geun-hye, then a conservative opposition leader, was knifed by a man with a box cutter during an election rally. She was given 60 stitches to close a 4-inch gash on her face. Park was elected president in 2012.

Although both Japan and South Korea are largely westernized U.S. allies, the neighbors’ own relations have been traditionally fraught due to cultural differences and prejudices.

However, Japan’s recent experience with assassination will certainly be a topic of discussion in light of yet another attempt in broad daylight on the life of a prominent opposition leader.

Abe, who had been a trusted friend and ally of former President Donald Trump, was fatally shot after delivering a campaign speech in Nara by a 41-year-old man wielding a homemade, improvised firearm that had been able to circumvent the country’s strict firearms regulations.

It is unclear in both cases whether the attacks were politically motivated or if there were other factors involved.

Biden Threatens Direct War w/Russia if Congress Doesn’t Approve Ukraine Aid

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) With Congress stalled on approving more funding for the U.S. proxy war against Russia, President Joe Biden has threatened that a direct conflict with the nuclear superpower may be on the table.

Biden made this threat on Friday in a statement on Russia’s recent bombing of Ukraine, in which it reportedly fired over 150 missiles and killed 31 people.

After warning that Ukraine’s U.S.-provided air defenses are running out, Biden said the U.S. could be pulled into direct war if legislators don’t act soon.

“When dictators and autocrats are allowed to run roughshod in Europe, the risk rises that the United States gets pulled in directly,” he said.

As antiwar.com’s Dave DeCamp noted, the Biden administration has been threatening direct war with Russia in their pitch to approve the over $60 billion they’re seeking to fund the proxy war in Ukraine for another year. Congress has already authorized more than $100 billion to date.

“[Biden’s] central claim is that if Putin wins in Ukraine, he will move into a NATO country next. But there’s no indication Russia wants a fight with the alliance, which could quickly spiral into nuclear war,” DeCamp wrote in a Sunday article.

Biden’s threat follows defense secretary Lloyd Austin allegedly telling members of Congress that their sons and daughters might be sent to fight Russia if they don’t approve aid for Ukraine.

“The Biden administration is openly threatening Americans over Ukraine. In a classified briefing in the House yesterday, defense secretary Lloyd Austin informed members that if they don’t appropriate more money for Zelensky, ‘we’ll send your uncles, cousins and sons to fight Russia,’” conservative news host Tucker Carlson said last month on Twitter.

“Pay the oligarchs or we’ll kill your kids.”

Additionally, White House official John Kirby has promised that “American blood” will be the “cost” of supporting Ukraine if Congress stop sending money.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly called Biden administration’s claim “nonsense.”

“Russia has no reason, no interest—no geopolitical interest, neither economic, political nor military—to fight with NATO countries,” the Russian leader has reportedly said.

Soros the Latest Swatting Victim as Leftist ‘Prank’ Gains in Popularity

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Billionaire oligarch George Soros was swatted on Saturday, the latest victim of a pernicious prank in which police are falsely called to the residence of someone—oftentimes a public figure—under false pretenses.

The New York Post reported that police were quickly dispatched to the globalist investor’s home on Old Town Road in Southampton Village, Long Island, around 9 p.m. after a caller claimed to have just shot his wife and threatened to shoot himself.

It was unclear whether the 93-year-old or his third wife, 52-year-old Tamiko Bolton, were at the residence during the episode. Reports had placed him and his family in Barbados the week prior.

However, Southampton Police Detective Herman Lamison confirmed on Monday that it was a false alarm.

“Spoke to security, searched the premises. It was [a] negative problem,” a responding officer told the dispatcher, according to the transcript obtained by the Post.

The swatting phenomenon, which began with the gaming community, has been a leftist tactic for several years, routinely used against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who was again swatted on Christmas Day and later pledged to draft legislation addressing the issue.

That push may now have some strong bipartisan support from the Democratic puppet-master himself.

In addition to Soros, several other public figures fell victim in incidents over the holidays, some of which may have been interrelated:

  • Georgia state Sens. John Albers, Kay Kirkpatrick and Clint Dixon (all Republicans), and Democrat Kim Jackson
  • Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones (Republican)
  • U.S. Reps. Brandon Williams, R-N.Y., and Kevin Miller, R-Ohio
  • U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla.
  • Red-pilled liberal legal scholar Jonathan Turley
  • Pro-segregationist Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (Democrat)
  • Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows (Democrat), following her controversial decision to block former President Donald Trump from the ballot, pending a Supreme Court decision

Bill Clinton’s Alias in Epstein Court Docs Revealed

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Former President Bill Clinton is among the hundreds of frequent visitor to Jeffrey Epstein’s private island—colloquially known as “Pedophile Island”—who will be identified in publicly unsealed records as of Monday.

The records identify the former president under the alias “John Doe 36,” ABC News reported.

U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska, who is hearing the case, ruled last year that there is no legal reason to keep the John and Jane Does under wraps, allowing for names to be published publicly after Jan. 1, 2024.

Preska has determined to offer each attorney for the various people named in the filing a preview of court files containing their name before any decisions were made about unsealing the records, with each being given an opportunity to argue for keeping the record sealed.

But according to Preska’s order, the Clinton legal team made no objections, and a spokesperson for Clinton declined to comment for this story.

The documents in question come from a 2015 civil lawsuit pertaining to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Both were accused of facilitating the sexual abuse of then-minor Virginia Giuffre, an alleged victim of their sex trafficking.

Giuffre described having had liaisons with Britain’s Prince Andrew and several other prominent men.

Numerous others are reportedly listed in the soon-to-be-released court filings, yet according to the report most names will not be new.

Clinton and Epstein have been publicly tied since a 2002 trip across Africa on a “humanitarian” mission.

Clinton at the time called Epstein “a highly successful financier and a committed philanthropist with a keen sense of global markets and an in-depth knowledge of twenty-first century science.”

“I especially appreciated his insights and generosity during the recent trip to Africa to work on democratization, empowering the poor, citizen service, and combating HIV/AIDS,” he also noted at the time.

Still, Clinton and his legal team have stated that the former president cut ties with Epstein in 2005 after initial rumblings of underage girls at his Palm Beach, Florida mansion surfaced.

Since then, of course, Epstein has been imprisoned, where he promptly allegedly committed suicide.

DOJ to Let Ex-FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried Skate on Political Donations

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Last Friday, federal prosecutors announced that they would not bring further charges against disgraced ex-FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, letting him off the hook for his alleged conspiracy to make unlawful political donations and bribery of foreign officials, Fox News reported.

Despite his laundry list of wrongdoings, Bankman-Fried will be let off the hook, with public officials citing the “public interest” as a reason to cease prosecution in a Friday letter.

“The Government respectfully submits this letter to provide notice to the Court and the
defendant that it does not plan to proceed with a second trial in the above-captioned matter,” prosecutors wrote, adding that resolving the matter quickly is preferable to doing it justly.

“Given that practical reality, and the strong public interest in a prompt resolution of this matter, the Government intends to proceed to sentencing on the counts for which the defendant was convicted at trial.”

Many who have closely followed the trial found the decision absurd.

“So we won’t know which politicians he bribed or who’s campaigns he influenced? That collective sigh of relief you are hearing is from the DEEP STATE,” Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., tweeted Friday night, lamenting the decision.

Conservative commentator John Cardillo suggested that the court was protecting Democrats from being named as recipients of SBF’s donations.

“Sam Bankman-Fried will not face second trial,” Cardillo wrote. “DOJ is protecting his Dem donation recipients.”

Bankman-Fried has a proven track record of distributing large funds to Democrats, and also wanted to pay former president Donald Trump upwards of $5 billion not to run again.

In the 2022 election cycle alone, he also donated $6 million to the Democrats’ House Majority PAC, $250,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

But the bulk of his spending–$27 million, went to the left’s “Protect Our Future PAC,” a group meant to alter America’s government in order to improve pandemic “preparedness.”

Adam Kinzinger Blasted for Attempting to Criticize Christian Trump Supporters

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Former U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R–Ill., criticized Donald Trump just one day after Christmas, claiming that Christians who support him “don’t understand” their faith, for which he was criticized.

“I’m going to go out on a NOT limb here: this man is not a Christian. If you are a Christian who supports him you don’t understand your own religion. Trump is weak, meager, smelly, victim-ey, belly-achey, but he ain’t a Christian and he’s not ‘God’s man,'” he wrote.

Christian leaders in the United States criticized the man with the Trump Derangement Syndrome, among whom was the former United Nations ambassador, a professor at Liberty University, the largest American Christian university, and current chairman of the Conservative Action Project Ken Blackwell, Breitbart reported.

“This latest example proves yet again that Kinzinger does not understand Christianity,” he said.

A senior fellow at the Family Research Council and a former Ohio politician who served as the mayor of Cincinnati, state treasurer and secretary of state also argued that Christians cannot support Joe Biden because he is “a fierce opponent to faithful Christians.”

“Trump’s policies support religious liberty, many others are consistent with biblical principles and many of his appointees are committed followers of Jesus Christ. Biden, by contrast, has been a fierce opponent to faithful Christians attempting to live their lives, raise their children and run their businesses according to their faith,” he said.

Former U.S. Rep. Bob McEwen, R-Ohio, also criticized Kinzinger.

“The Left tracks where Trump is strong. These types [Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, Nancy Pelosi] then invent stories to discourage veterans, minorities or the faith community from turning out. Adam is just a tool,” he said.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council and former Commissioner of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, said that true Christians should trust God, instead of any kind of politician.

“Bible-believing Christians understand that our hope is not in government or government leaders. Our hope, and the hope for all human beings for that matter, is found in the grace of God, the message of which is spread not by the government but by the followers of Jesus Christ,” he said.

Perkins, however, noted that, unlike Trump, Biden has been doing everything possible to “subvert” or “penalize” the Christian faith.

“[It] is not even close. As one cabinet secretary quipped about President Trump, he may not be a Sunday school teacher, but he sure knew how to hire them. Biblical-centered faith prospered under Trump. It is now under attack. A Christian would be a fool to vote to continue the policies and practices that attack our ability to live our lives directed by our Bible-centered, Christian faith,” he said.

Top Social Media Companies Made Nearly $11B from Ads for Minors

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) It was revealed in a Dec. 27, 2023, study by Harvard University that major social media companies collectively made nearly $11 billion in advertising revenue from American minors in 2022.

To estimate the amount of money that Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube generated off of advertisements targeted toward minors on the platforms in the U.S., researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health analyzed market data and used public surveys and found out that around $2.1 billion of the revenue was generated by kids under the age of 12, while $8.6 billion was generated from users between the ages of 13 and 17.

“Our finding that social media platforms generate substantial advertising revenue from youth highlights the need for greater data transparency as well as public health interventions and government regulations,” Amanda Raffoul, lead author of the study and instructor in pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, wrote.

It was also discovered that, in 2022, YouTube had the highest quantity of underage U.S. users at 49.7 million, followed by TikTok and Snapchat at 18.9 million and 18 million, respectively.

The researchers wrote that YouTube amassed nearly $1 billion in ad revenue from users under 12, which is the highest in that category among the social media companies. Instagram generated the largest amount of ad revenue from users aged 13 to 17, at $4 billion. Snapchat had the highest share of its total ad revenue from minors last year, which is 41%. TikTok and YouTube had 35% and 27%, respectively.

Some of the states tried limiting minors’ exposure to social media platforms, among which was Utah which passed two bills in 2023 that added age restrictions and required parental consent and age verification to access the sites, according to the Daily Caller.

As expected, a trade group that represents TikTok, Snapchat, Meta and Twitter sued the state, arguing the restrictions violate the First and Fourteenth Amendments, adding that they infringe on free expression rights and access to public content.

Other states that tried to protect children were Arkansas which passed a bill in April of this year that required social media companies to obtain parental consent when setting up new user accounts for minors and Ohio which passed a law that will take effect on Jan. 15, 2024, that would require that social media companies receive parental consent when making accounts for kids under the age of 16.

Leftist Academics Lose Jobs Over Their Jew-Hatred

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Two university professors lost their jobs after their hatred toward Jews was revealed.

The first professor was Stanford University’s newly formed Anti-Semitism Committee’s co-chair who resigned after he was called out for aligning himself with anti-Israel groups and writing a paper in 2017, in which he concluded that anti-Semitism was not a problem on college campuses, according to Breitbart.

It was revealed that Ari Kelman, the short-lived faculty co-chair of Stanford’s Anti-Semitism Committee, ironically had a record of downplaying the issue of anti-Semitism on campus, as well as allying with anti-Israel groups.

In addition to that, Kelman and other Jew-hating Stanford Marxist indoctrinators wrote a “Safe on the Sidelines” paper back in 2017, in which they wrote that anti-Semitism is not a problem on college campuses because “different representations of campus culture come from the difficulties in defining what counts as political speech and what counts as antisemitism.”

Kelman also served on the academic board of Open Hillel, which is organized by major Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions [BDS] lobby groups, and worked to overturn Hillel International’s guidelines that prevent partnering with anti-Jewish groups and individuals, the news source reported.

When the information about Kelman was revealed, he was pushed to resign from his role as a co-chair of Stanford’s Antisemitism Committee.

“Stanford appointed BDS-supporting Prof. Ari Kelman to chair its anti-Semitism committee. Amid criticism from brave Stanford students and alum, with an assist from the Caroline Glick show, he resigned!” Jewish News Syndicate editor Caroline Glick wrote.

The other professor who was not able to keep a job was a University of Minnesota professor who denied that Hamas raped Israeli women during the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks. As a result, she did not receive a leading administrative DEI position, according to Campus Reform.

Sima Shakhsari spewed her Jew-hating rhetoric before a panel during the interview process for an associate dean position at the College of Liberal Arts’ Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Despite her not getting the position, she is still employed as an associate professor in the Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies Department.

Shakhsari also suggested during the interview that the accusations that Hamas raped Israeli women are similar to lynchings of black men in the United States because they were accused of raping white women, implying that this never happened.

In addition to that, Shakhsari previously attended pro-Hamas rallies and called Israelis defending themselves against terrorists a “genocide.”

“I cannot be silenced in the face of this genocide, and I’m not gonna argue whether it’s a genocide or not,” she said.

‘Time to Deport’: GOP Rep. Gives Biden Ultimatum Amid Record Border Arrests

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A Republican member of Congress issued a stern message about the Biden administration’s inaction amid rampant illegal immigration at the southern border: “Enough is enough!”

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, whose district covers a vast portion of the southern border, expressed in a Sunday interview on Fox News his concerns about the record-breaking numbers of illegal immigration, exposing President Joe Biden’s lack of decisive action on the border.

Ahead of a border visit by House Republicans, Gonzales emphasized, “Life along the border is turned upside down and that is exactly what the [House Speaker Mike Johnson] and my colleagues are going to see next week. I believe in legal immigration; I believe most of America believes in legal immigration. But what we are not seeing is not that. This is chaos. Enough is enough.”

The GOP lawmaker, who has endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 election, stated that Biden must start removing illegal aliens or face potential removal from office.

“It’s time to deport those that illegally come into the United States and President Biden can do that or he can watch and lose and watch the next president enforce those policies on the books,” he added.

Gonzales, an early Trump endorser, attributed his support of the former president to the Trump administration’s border security policies in a November 2022 tweet.

“Under President Trump, America had a secure border, we were energy independent, and parents had a say in our children’s education. I look forward to President Trump once again righting the ship,” Gonzales said.

Gonzales’s remarks follow the Biden administration setting alarming records due to the unprecedented influx of illegal aliens at the southern border.

Since fiscal year 2023, the Biden administration has encountered over 770,000 illegal aliens since Oct. 1, with at least 83,500 known “gotaways” managing to evade apprehension. Particularly striking was the encounter of over 286,000 illegal aliens since Dec. 1—the highest figure in U.S. history, as reported by Fox News.

Speaker Johnson, alongside several other Republicans, is expected to visit the southern border to assess the ongoing chaos, which has prompted both Democrat and Republican governors to implement tough border policies.

In Arizona, Gov. Katie Hobbs deployed the state’s National Guard to deter illegal aliens. Similarly, in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott signed legislation allowing local authorities to detain individuals suspected of being in the U.S. illegally.

“We’re going to be in Eagle Pass. We’re going to be hearing directly from people on the ground. These stories are going to resonate and it is going to lead House Republicans into 2024 as we try to tackle these issues,” Gonzales asserted.

‘Killed for Sport’: Over 100 Christians Dead in Reported Nigerian Massacre

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Christians in Nigeria are reportedly being killed in masse by armed militants in the region segregated between the majority-Muslim north and the predominately south, harrowing reports alleged.

According to Fox News, over 100 Christians fell victim to a massacre on Dec. 25, worsening a growing number of atrocities in the West African country.

The report highlighted that a staggering 52,000 Christians have been “butchered” or “hacked to death” since 2009, as reported by Intersociety. The turmoil began on Christmas during clashes between the government-backed Fulani Jihadists and Plateau Christians, Christian Today reported.

It took local Nigerian forces 12 hours to rescue the victims. Fox reported former Nigerian chief of army staff Ty Danjuma accusing the military of ignoring the attack.

“The armed forces are not neutral, they collude with the bandits that kill Nigerians,” he said during a speech. “They [the army] facilitate their movements, they cover them. If you are depending on the armed forces to stop the killings, you will die one by one.”

The State Department declined to label the attack as religiously motivated, highlighting the absence of a formal claim of responsibility from local militant groups.

“Religious freedom is a key U.S. foreign policy priority and plays a prominent role in our continued engagement with the Nigerian government,” a spokesperson claimed.

The spokesperson added, “We continue to have concerns about religious freedom in Nigeria, and we will continue to work with the Government of Nigeria to address religious freedom issues and to ensure all human rights are protected, including the freedom of religion or belief.”

However, Experts warn that attacks against Christians are widespread in Nigeria.

Rev. Johnnie Moore, a former commissioner for the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, told Fox that western Africa is “the single worst place in the world” to be a Christian.

“When ISIS was at its height in Iraq and Syria in 2015, terrorists in one single state in Nigeria killed more Christians than all of those killed by the ISIS caliphate in Syria and in Iraq combined,” he said.

Moore decried the daily terror reportedly faced by Christians in western Africa, saying “Christians are killed for sports, especially Christian children.”

He continued, “Entire villages are burnt and pillaged. Thousands of churches have been destroyed. Children and women are hunted. Countless Christians have been kidnapped.”
