House Unleashes Impeachment Articles on Mayorkas’s Dereliction of Duty

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Republican-led Homeland Security Committee unveiled initial articles of impeachment against Alejandro Mayorkas, the embattled Department of Homeland Security secretary.

The impeachment is a response to widespread condemnation over the unprecedented influx of illegal aliens freely entering the U.S. under the Biden administration. Mayorkas faces two articles of impeachment, one for his “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” and a second article for a “breach of public trust.”

The first article outlines disturbing facts regarding the Mayorkas’ acts as DHS secretary. “Throughout his tenure as Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro N. Mayorkas has repeatedly violated laws enacted by Congress regarding immigration and border security,” Republicans declared in the first article.

“In large part because of his unlawful conduct, millions of aliens have illegally entered the United States on an annual basis with many unlawfully remaining in the United States. His refusal to obey the law is not only an offense against the separation of powers in the Constitution of the United States, it also threatens our national security,” Republicans allege in the first article,” they continued.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., pledged to hold a vote on whether to impeach Mayorkas “as soon as possible,” as reported by Fox News. On Twitter, he added, “I fully support @HomelandGOP’s impeachment efforts and I look forward to seeing Secretary Mayorkas held accountable for this catastrophe.”

The Biden administration has been processing mass parole permits for the unprecedented number of illegal aliens coming to the U.S. Republicans argue that this tactic allows illegal aliens, many of whom do not qualify for refugee benefits, to remain in the U.S. pending year-long applications.

Mayorkas admitted that a staggering 85% of illegal aliens who enter the U.S. are released to wait for their applications to be processed.

The second article of impeachment centers around Mayorkas’ claim that the border is secure, directly contradicting data and evidence showing otherwise. In December alone, the U.S. processed 302,000 illegal aliens—the highest number ever recorded in U.S. history.

“Alejandro N. Mayorkas knowingly made false statements to Congress that the border is ‘secure,’ that the border is ‘no less secure than it was previously,’ that the border is ‘closed,’ and that DHS has ‘operational control’ of the border,” Republicans declared in the second article of impeachment.

Trump Blames Biden for Iran-Backed Deadly Attack, Citing ‘Weakness and Surrender’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump sharply criticized President Joe Biden after three American servicemen were killed, and over 30 were injured, by an Iran-backed militia group in Jordan.

“The drone attack on a U.S. Military Installation in Jordan, killing 3 American Servicemembers, and wounding many more, marks a horrible day for America,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“My most profound sympathies go to the Families of the Brave Servicemembers we have lost. I ask all Americans to join me in praying for those who have been wounded,” he continued.

The former president squarely placed the blame on Biden: “This brazen attack on the United States is yet another horrific and tragic consequence of Joe Biden’s weakness and surrender.”

Biden, in response, assured that the U.S. will “respond” to those responsible for the deadly drone attack.

“While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq,” Biden said in a statement.

“Together, we will keep the sacred obligation we bear to their families,” Biden added. “We will strive to be worthy of their honor and valor. We will carry on their commitment to fight terrorism. And have no doubt — we will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing.”

The tragic incident unfolded in Tower 22, a military base in Jordan near the Syrian border. As reported by the Times of Israel, the base played a crucial role in the fight against the Islamic State and remains pivotal in American efforts to contain the growing Iranian presence in eastern Syria.

CNN reported over 158 attacks on U.S. and allied forces in Iraq and Syria. However, this latest assault signifies an escalation in tensions in the Middle East following Hamas’ terror attack against Israel on Oct. 7.

Biden is currently in South Carolina, campaigning for his re-election.

Biden Says the Quiet Part Out Loud: Calls Trump ‘Sitting President’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In a Saturday speech in South Carolina, President Joe Biden referred to his predecessor, Donald Trump, as the “sitting president.”

This verbal misstep prompted the White House to swiftly correct the official transcript of the president’s speech. The revised version falsely portrayed Biden’s statement as referring to “a [former] President.”

Specifically, Biden claimed: “Did you see he recently said about that wants to – that he wants to see the economy crash this year? A sitting president. As they say in my faith, ‘Bless me, Father, for…’ I mean, come on, man.”

Biden referenced an interview where Trump mentioned that if the economy were to crash, he hoped it would occur during Biden’s last year and not after 2024, potentially during his first year in the White House if elected.

“We have an economy that’s so fragile, and the only reason it’s running now is it’s running off the fumes of what we did. It’s just running off the fumes,” Trump said on Lindell TV’s Lou Dobbs Tonight.

“When there’s a crash, I hope it’s going to be during this, next 12 months because I don’t want to be Herbert Hoover. The one president – I just don’t want to be Herbert Hoover,” Trump added.

The former president, currently seeking the Republican nomination in the 2024 election, referred to former President Herbert Hoover, whose initial year in office (1929) was marred by a market crash, leading to the Great Depression.

According to the Heritage Foundation, Hoover lost 6.4 million jobs in four years, witnessing the unemployment rate soar to 24.9%. Moreover, the GDP reportedly declined by over 25 percent under his administration.

The White House seized on Trump’s remarks to misrepresent his assertions. “A commander in chief’s duty is to always put the American people first; never to hope that hard-working families suffer economic pain for their own political benefit,” Bates claimed.

Texas Lt. Gov. Slams Biden Officials as ‘Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Texas Lieutenant Gov. Dan Patrick referenced biblical imagery, comparing President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to “the four horsemen of the apocalypse.”

In a Sunday interview on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures, Patrick condemned the deaths at the southern border, attributing them to the lawlessness and chaos under the Biden administration.

“We are being invaded, make no mistake,” Patrick said, adding: “One message, America: We’re being invaded. Joe Biden, Mayorkas, Kamala Harris all are lying about it. As I call them, along with Jean-Pierre, ‘the four horsemen of the apocalypse.’”

He drew further on the Bible to criticize Biden: “The last horseman in scripture says and death came with them. And every death whether they drown in the river, when they’re killed in America whether by MS-13, they’re all on the hands of Joe Biden.”

Patrick’s comments came in response to the unprecedented number of illegal aliens crossing the southern border.

“We were averaging about 435,000 apprehensions most years — think about that, per year and in December, we had 300,000 alone,” Patrick said, highlighting the highest number ever recorded in U.S. border encounters.

“Under Joe Biden, we know the apprehensions — the people who come across the bridge and turn themselves in, want asylum even though 90 percent don’t qualify for it — we will be somewhere around 8 million at the end of Joe Biden’s term, maybe as many as 10 million,” he continued.

The lieutenant governor’s statements coincide with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott challenging the federal government’s attempt to seize specific parts of the southern border. Initially, Abbott ordered the Texas National Guard to secure parts of the border in Eagle Pass to discourage illegal entry into the U.S.

However, Border Patrol, following Mayorkas’s request, began cutting through razor wire placed by Abbott, leading to a pending lawsuit in an appeals court. The Supreme Court partially intervened, affirming the Biden administration’s authority to cut through the wire while the case remains pending.

“Don’t mess with Texas,” Patrick told Bartiromo. “We’re serious about securing our border, and I’m glad the president stood down on Friday and did not confront us -– that would be the wrong thing to do. We don’t want a confrontation, and they shouldn’t want it. Let us do our job.”

Stefanik Rebukes Northern Border Invasion, Backs Mayorkas Impeachment

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., contends that President Joe Biden’s open border policies affect both the U.S. southern and northern borders with Canada, pledging support for impeachment articles against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas amid unprecedented illegal immigration.

“We’ve seen an 800% increase in the Swanton Sector, which is the part of the northern border that I represent, of illegal crossings,” Stefanik said during an interview on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

Stefanik’s Sunday remarks came two days after she sent a letter to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, urging her support for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in a standoff with the federal government over control of specific parts of the southern border.

“Far Left Kathy Hochul has openly admitted that New York taxpayers cannot afford to continue subsidizing the illegal immigrants pouring in through our borders because of Joe Biden’s disastrous open border policies,” Stefanik said in a press statement. The letter was co-signed by Reps. Nick Langworthy, Nicole Malliotakis, Brandon Williams, Claudia Tenney, Nick LaLota, Marc Molinaro and Michael Lawler.

During her conversation with Bartiromo, Stefanik criticized Hochul for “begging” for federal funding while simultaneously endorsing sanctuary status for New York and New York City. Stefanik argued that such policies have real-life consequences.

“Just last week we saw a high school in New York City sent kids home, sent U.S. Students home to house illegal immigrants,” Stefanik continued. “This is a catastrophe. Voters will — and we must — hold Joe Biden accountable. We do that by electing President Trump who had the most secure border in our nation’s history.”

Stefanik emphasized that House Republicans will hold the Biden administration accountable for the border chaos.

“Our committee chair, Mark Green, of Homeland Security, has done a tremendous job and has shown to the American people there has been a willful refusal to comply with the law and an abuse of power in the position as secretary of Homeland Security,” she added. “So the committee will mark up those articles of impeachment and work up the process to bring them to the floor.”

Pelosi’s Newest Conspiracy: Russia Is to Blame for Protests Against Biden

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has blamed the surge pro-Palestinian protests, which have frequently disrupted President Joe Biden’s speeches and events, on a new culprit: Russia.

In a Sunday interview on CNN’s State of the Union, Pelosi called on the FBI to investigate potential Russian ties to some of the protests opposing Israel’s actions against Hamas, the Gaza-based terror group. This call comes in the wake of Saturday’s disruption of Biden’s campaign speech in South Carolina.

“For them to call for a cease-fire is Mr. Putin’s message, Mr. Putin’s message,” Pelosi said. “Make no mistake this is directly connected to what he would like to see — same thing with Ukraine. It’s about Putin’s message. I think some of these protesters are spontaneous and organic and sincere. Some, I think, are connected to Russia. I say that having looked at this for a long time.”

Pelosi did not provide any evidence showing that Russia—rather than the radical left-wing of her own party—is behind the protests.

In response, CNN host Dana Bash pressed Pelosi for clarification. “Do you think some of these protests are Russian plants?” Bash asked, to which Pelosi replied: “I think some financing should be investigated; I want to ask the FBI to investigate that.”

Pelosi’s remarks come amid escalating anti-Israeli protests, leading to law enforcement intervention. Biden himself has faced numerous protests, with disruptions occurring during his Thanksgiving getaway to Nantucket Island and in his Delaware neighborhood.

Most recently, Biden’s speech in South Carolina was abruptly disrupted by anti-Israeli protests. “Please don’t jump,” Biden told a group of hecklers in South Carolina.

Earlier in the interview, Pelosi acknowledged that she, too, has been the target of protests. “I’ve been the recipient of their exuberance — as recently as in Seattle on Thursday, unfortunately — wanting to disrupt our very exciting Democratic meeting there,” Pelosi stated. “They are in front of my house all the time. So I have a feeling for what feelings they have.”

Pelosi’s claims sharply contrast with the Democratic Party’s rebuttal to allegations that Antifa has infiltrated certain anti-Republican protests, dismissing such notions as conspiracy theories.

Three Americans Killed in Attack by Iran-Backed Militia in Jordan

(Headline USA) Three American service members were killed and “many” were wounded in a drone strike in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border, Joe Biden said in a statement Sunday. He attributed the attack to Iran-backed militia groups.

They were the first U.S. fatalities in months of strikes against American forces across the Middle East by Iranian-backed militias amid the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, increasing the risk of escalation. U.S. officials were still working to conclusively identify the precise group responsible for the attack, but have assessed that one of several Iranian-backed groups is to blame.

Biden said the United States “will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner (of) our choosing.”

Jordanian state television quoted Muhannad Mubaidin, a government spokesman, as insisting the attack happened outside of the kingdom across the border in Syria. U.S. officials insisted that the attack took place in Jordan.

U.S. troops long have used Jordan, a kingdom bordering Iraq, Israel, the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, Saudi Arabia and Syria, as a basing point. U.S. Central Command said 25 service members were injured the attack in addition to the three killed.

Some 3,000 American troops typically are stationed in Jordan.

Since Israel’s war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip began, U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria have faced drone and missile attacks on their bases. The attack on Jordan marks the first targeting American troops in Jordan during the war and the first to result in the loss of American lives. Other attacks have left troops seriously injured, including with traumatic brain injuries.

The U.S. in recent months has struck targets in Iraq, Syria and Yemen to respond to attacks on American forces in the region and to deter Iranian-backed Houthi rebels from continuing to threaten commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

Biden, who was in Columbia, South Carolina, on Sunday, was briefed by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, national security adviser Jake Sullivan, and principal deputy national security adviser Jon Finer, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. He was expected to meet again with his national security team later Sunday.

The president called it a “despicable and wholly unjust attack” and said the service members were “risking their own safety for the safety of their fellow Americans, and our allies and partners with whom we stand in the fight against terrorism. It is a fight we will not cease.”

Syria is still in the midst of a civil war and long has been a launch pad for Iranian-backed forces there, including the Lebanese militia Hezbollah. Iraq has multiple Iranian-backed Shiite militias operating there as well.

Jordan, a staunch Western ally and a crucial power in Jerusalem for its oversight of holy sites there, is suspected of launching airstrikes in Syria to disrupt drug smugglers, including one that killed nine people earlier this month.

An umbrella group for Iran-backed factions known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq earlier claimed launching explosive drone attacks targeting three areas in Syria, as well as one inside of “occupied Palestine.” The group has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks against bases housing U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria since the Israel-Hamas war began.

Tesla Recalling Over 200,000 Vehicles Because of ‘Software Glitch’

(Headline USA) Tesla is recalling nearly 200,000 vehicles in the U.S. because the backup camera may not function while the car is in reverse.

The recall covers certain Models Y, S and X from the 2023 model year. All are equipped with “Full Self-Driving” computer 4.0 and run software version 2023.44.30 through 2023.44.30.6 or 2023.44.100.

The company says in documents posted by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that software instability may prevent the camera image from showing images while the Teslas are in reverse. The safety agency says that can increase the risk of a crash.

Tesla says in documents that it is not aware of any crashes or injuries. Documents say the problem has been fixed with an online software update.

Owners will be notified by letter starting March 22.

Tesla said in documents that it is not aware of any crashes, injuries or deaths related to the issue.

Tesla began getting complaints about the problem in late December and decided to do a recall on Jan. 12, documents say. As of Jan. 22, the company had 81 warranty claims potentially related to the problem.

Teslas cannot drive themselves despite having a “Full Self-Driving” system, and human drivers have to be ready to intervene at all times.

Retired FBI Execs to Congress: Invasion at Border ‘Perilous’ for America

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) – Ten retired FBI directors and experts in counter intelligence sent a letter to congressional leaders warning that President Joe Biden’s border policies have facilitated a “soft invasion” into the U.S. of military-age men coming from terror-linked regions, China and Russia.

They argue a terrorist attack is likely imminent but preventable.

“The threat we call out today is new and unfamiliar. In its modern history the U.S. has never suffered an invasion of the homeland, and, yet, one is unfolding now. Military age men from across the globe, many from countries or regions not friendly to the United States, are landing in waves on our soil by the thousands – not by splashing ashore from a ship or parachuting from a plane bur rather by foot across a border that has been accurately advertised around the world as largely unprotected with ready access granted.

“It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is comparatively a multi division army of young single adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent, or allegiance is completely unknown. They include individuals encountered by border officials and then possibly released into the country, along with the shockingly high estimate of ‘gotaways,’ meaning those who have entered and evaded apprehension.”

According to the US Department of Defense, an Army company is comprised of 100 soldiers, a battalion of 1,000, a brigade 5,000, a division 15,000, and a corps, 45,000.

There have been over 1.7 million gotaways reported to have illegally entered and evaded capture since Biden’s been in office, the majority of whom are military age men. They are included in the more than 10 million total illegal border crossers reported to have entered the country from Jan. 1, 2021, to Sept. 30, 2023.

“In light of such a daunting, unprecedented penetration by uninvited foreign actors, it is reasonable to assert that the country possesses dramatically diminished national security at this time. The nation’s military and laws and other natural protective barriers that have provided traditional security in the past have been thoroughly circumvented over the past three years,” the former FBI directors wrote.

They called on Congress to secure the border “against these young men and those already here illegally must be identified and removed without delay.”

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., posted a copy of the letter on X, saying, “This sobering letter from former FBI, Homeland Security, and other law enforcement officials describes the chilling reality of why the president’s open border is a clear and present danger to America.”

The letter was written on Jan. 17, prior to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott invoking the invasion clause of the U.S. Constitution arguing Texas’ right to defend itself and ahead of the House preparing to impeach U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the years-long border crisis.

It was addressed to Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and the chairs of House and Senate intelligence and homeland security committees.

The retired FBI officials sounding the alarm served under seven U.S. presidents and four FBI directors.

They include Kevin Brock, former assistant director of intelligence and former principal deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center; Chris Swecker, former assistant director of the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division; Timothy Healy, former director of the Terrorist Screening Center; Ruben Garcia, Jr., former executive assistant director of the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch; Mark Morgan, former assistant director for training at the FBI, former acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and former U.S. Border Patrol chief; David Szady, former assistant director of counterintelligence; Jody Weiss, former special agent in charge in Philadelphia; David Mitchell, former special agent in charge in Milwaukee; William Gavin, former assistant director of the FBI’s Inspection Division and Timothy McNally, former assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles division.

Biden Slows the Construction of Much Needed Natural Gas Terminal

(Headline USA) The Biden administration is delaying consideration of new natural gas export terminals in the United States, even as gas shipments to Europe and Asia have soared since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The election year decision by President Joe Biden aligns with environmentalists who fear the huge increase in exports, in the form of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, is locking in potentially catastrophic planet-warming emissions.

The current economic and environmental analyses the Energy Department uses to evaluate LNG projects don’t adequately account for potential cost hikes for American consumers and manufacturers or the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, the White House said.

Industry groups condemned the pause as a “win for Russia.”

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said the pause will not affect already authorized export projects and noted that U.S. gas exports reached record highs last year.

She and other officials declined to say how long the permitting pause will last, but said a study of how proposed LNG projects will affect the environment, the economy and national security will take “some months.” A public comment period after that will likely delay any decisions on pending LNG projects until after the 2024 presidential election.

U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas began less than a decade ago, but have grown rapidly in recent years to the point that the U.S. has become the world’s largest gas exporter. Exports rose sharply after Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and Biden and Granholm have celebrated the delivery of U.S. gas to Europe and Asia as a key geopolitical weapon against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The American Petroleum Institute, the largest lobbying group for the oil and gas industry, turned those comments against the Democratic administration as it condemned Biden’s action.

“This is a win for Russia and a loss for American allies, U.S. jobs and global climate progress,” said Mike Sommers, API’s president and CEO.

“There is no review needed to understand the clear benefits of U.S. LNG (exports) for stabilizing global energy markets, supporting thousands of American jobs and reducing emissions around the world by transitioning countries toward cleaner fuels” and away from coal, Sommers said in a statement.

Biden’s action “is nothing more than a broken promise to U.S. allies, and it’s time for the administration to stop playing politics with global energy security,” he said.

Shaylyn Hynes, spokeswoman for the project’s owner, Virginia-based Venture Global, said the Biden administration “continues to create uncertainty about whether our allies can rely on U.S. LNG for their energy security.”

A prolonged pause on LNG exports “would shock the global energy market … and send a devastating signal to our allies that they can no longer rely on the United States,” said Hynes, who served as an Energy Department spokeswoman in the Trump administration.

“The true irony is this policy would hurt the climate and lead to increased (greenhouse gas) emissions, as it would force the world to pivot to coal” instead of natural gas, Hynes said.
