Secret Service Director Refuses to Resign in Disgrace After Assassination Attempt

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) During a July 15, 2024, ABC interview, U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said that she would not be stepping down from her position, even though she was responsible for the protection of Donald Trump, who was almost murdered on July 13, 2024.

Cheatle also called the assassination attempt against Trump “unacceptable,” the Daily Caller reported.

The assassination attempt also resulted in the death of former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore and two other crowd members, 57-year-old David Dutch and 74-year-old James Copenhaver, who are now in stable condition.

After being criticized for failing to defend Trump, Cheatle sat down with ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas. After the attack, Cheatle said she had been shocked and concerned for Trumpt before noting the attempt to take his life “should’ve never happened.”

She then acknowledged that she was ultimately responsible for last weekend’s tragic event.

“The buck stops with me. I am the director of the Secret Service, and I need to make sure that we are performing a review and that we are giving resources to our personnel as necessary. It was unacceptable and it’s something that shouldn’t happen again,” Cheatle said.

After the attack happened, Republican lawmakers demanded Cheatle to explain how the agency failed to prevent the attack in the first place. In addition to that, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and billionaire Elon Musk called for her to step down.

However, despite acknowledging that she was the one who was ultimately responsible for the assassination attempt, Cheatle said that she doesn’t plan to resign.

Cheatle also confirmed during the interview that the agency had been working with local law enforcement to secure the area during the July 13, 2024, Pennsylvania rally, with the agency in control of the inner perimeter.

“In this particular instance, we did share support for that particular site and that the Secret Service was responsible for the inner perimeter. And then, we sought assistance from our local counterparts for the outer perimeter. There was local police in that building — there was local police in the area that were responsible for the outer perimeter of the building,” she said.

Media Mythologize ‘Loner’ Assassin as Registered Republican w/ 10-Inch Penis

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Following the attempt on GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s life, mainstream media sought to valorize the would-be assassin, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, by dubiously portraying him as a well-endowed Republican.

According to his classmates, the 2022 graduate who lived with his parents in Bethel Park, Pa., and spent nearly $1,500 on an OnlyFans site over a period of five months was something of a loner in high school who was regularly bullied.

“He would sit alone at lunch. He was just the outcast,” Jason Kohler, 21, told NBC. “It’s honestly kind of sad.”

Following suit, ABC News on Monday offered an allegedly “complex portrait” of Crooks.

“He was somebody who came across as lonely a lot,” said Jameson Myers, another one of Crooks’s former classmates, adding that he was “bullied so much in high school.”

Myers called Crooks “an interesting one” who was “more socially reserved” and “didn’t have a ton of friends.” Still, he reportedly “was a very nice, even sweet guy.”

Notably, Crooks had tried to join the high school shooting team but was cut from the team for lack of skill.

“He didn’t just not make the team, he was asked not to come back because how bad of a shot he was; it was considered, like, dangerous,” said Myers.

Others suggested that he “wasn’t really fit” for the team, adding that “he also shot terrible.”

Celebrity gossip site TMZ, meanwhile, posted footage of Crooks, apparently at school with friends, claiming to have a 10-inch penis:

In addition to being lonely and sexually frustrated, Crooks also appeared to be committed to left-wing causes.

The then-18-year-old donated $15 in 2021 to the far-left Progressive Turnout Project, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Per the Progressive Turnout Project’s website, the group is “dedicated to mobilizing the Democratic Party and defending democracy.”

However, it is known for promoting extremist rhetoric on its social-media sites, such as claiming that “Donald Trump will destroy democracy.”

Crooks’s mother, Mary, also appeared to have donated twice to ActBlue recently, although the specific records were not yet available to confirm that the address matched that of the family, nor what specific organization it may have been earmarked for.

Despite the evidence of the family’s political leanings, the day after the shooting, media outlets including NBC News quickly pounced on the fact that Crooks was a registered Republican in order to deflect from the Left’s culpability in promoting stochastic terrorism against the former president.

Many pointed out, however, that Democrats had organized widespread campaigns—particularly in closed primary states such as Pennsylvania—to switch their registrations in order to vote against Trump in the Republican primary since President Joe Biden faced no significant challenges in the Democrat primary.

Republican pundits also noted that they had switched their registrations to Democrat in the past, suggesting it was a meaningless measure of political affiliation.

Democrat Senator Menendez Found Guilty of Federal Bribery Charges

(Christian Wade, The Center Square) New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez has been found guilty of 16 counts of bribery and other charges in his federal corruption trial.

On Tuesday, a New York City jury found the lawmaker guilty of accepting “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in bribes in exchange for wielding his influence to benefit foreign governments and a trio of businessmen.

Menendez, 70, and his co-defendants, New Jersey businessmen Wael Hana and Fred Daibes, were accused by federal prosecutors in a bribery scheme from 2018 to 2023 to benefit three New Jersey businessmen, including by serving as a foreign agent for the government of Egypt. The senator denied any wrongdoing and accused prosecutors of targeting him.

“I have never been anything but a patriot of my country and for my country,” Menendez said as he left the courtroom with his lawyers, vowing to appeal the verdict. “I have never, ever been a foreign agent.”

The verdict makes Menendez the first sitting U.S. Senator to be convicted of acting as an agent for a foreign government.

“This wasn’t politics as usual, this was politics for profit,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams outside the courthouse in Manhattan. “And now that a jury has convicted Bob Menendez, his years of selling his office to the highest bidder have finally come to an end.”

Shortly after the verdict was announced, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took to social media to call on Menendez to step down.

“In light of this guilty verdict, Senator Menendez must now do what is right for his constituents, the Senate, and our country, and resign,” Schumer, a New York Democrat, said.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said the verdict “demonstrates that the senator broke the law, violated the trust of his constituents, and betrayed his oath of office. It also shows that in America, everyone – no matter how powerful – is accountable to our laws.”

Murphy, a Democrat, reiterated his previous calls for Menendez to step down and said if he doesn’t, the Senate should vote to expel him.

“In the event of a vacancy, I will exercise my duty to make a temporary appointment to ensure the people of New Jersey have the representation they deserve,” Murphy said.

Federal prosecutors unsealed a 39-page indictment in September accusing Menendez and his wife of accepting gold bars, cash and other bribes in exchange for wielding his political influence for Egypt and his business friends.

A month later, federal prosecutors filed a new indictment accusing Menendez of acting as a “foreign agent” for Egypt by shepherding billions in military aid that previously had been denied to the country over its record of human rights abuses. Then, a second superseding indictment, filed in January, unveiled new accusations that Menendez accepted gifts from the Qatari government.

FBI agents said they found more than $480,000 in cash during a search of his home – some of it in envelopes stuffed into a jacket with his name on it – gold bars and a Mercedes Benz.

Menendez will be sentenced on Oct. 29, just a week before the November election, and faces decades in federal prison.

Musk Pledges $45M a Month to Trump after Assassination Attempt Triggers Endorsement

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Billionaire Elon Musk pledged to give a super PAC backing former President Donald Trump $45 million a month for an indeterminate amount of time, according to CNBC.

Musk and several other highly successful entrepreneurs, including Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale and crypto billionaires Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to the America PAC.

Lonsdale donated $1 million through Lonsdale Enterprises.

The Winklevoss twins (known to many as Mark Zuckerberg’s Harvard classmates turned litigants, as portrayed in The Social Network) each donated $250,000, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

Musk’s pledge came on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO formally endorsed Trump minutes after an assassination attempt against him on Saturday.

Musk also expressed grave concern for the state of the Secret Service, and called for the resignation of its leadership.

“Extreme incompetence or it was deliberate,” Musk said in another Twitter post. “Either way, the SS leadership must resign.”

He also openly mocked Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who previously worked for Global Security at PepsiCo.

“So, before being put in charge of protecting the PRESIDENT, she was guarding bags of Cheetos…” Musk posted.

Musk, who has 189.7 million followers on his platform, also amplified a post from a user named Stepfanie Tyler, who gave a brief overview of her move from radical, woke Democrat to a registered Republican and Trump voters, signaling a larger turn of the tide.

“Watching Trump survive an assassination attempt and act like a total f**king savage just shifted me into some strange, patriotic gear that my fancy-feminism-white-men-bad infected brain never showed me,” she said. “Like, the dude took a bullet and stood up with blood dripping down his face, and rallied a f**king crowd while fist pumping, yelling ‘FIGHT!’ Sorry, but I’m voting for that, and saying it out loud feels so freeing.”

Trump secured enough support at the RNC to take the GOP nomination. He said his speech at the convention will focus on reforging national unity.

Left Raises Vitriolic Response to Cannon’s Dismissal of Trump Case

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon is facing an onslaught of online hate comments after ruling that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s appointment to investigate former President Donald Trump was unconstitutional.

Some Twitter users have expressed their outrage over Cannon’s ruling, which several legal scholars believe was the correct decision, as no existing law authorizes the DOJ to relinquish prosecutorial power.

“As disappointing as Cannon tossing this out is, deep down inside, at one point…we all knew this was exactly what this crazy b**ch was going to do. We did,” wrote podcast host Jack Hopkins to his over 255,000 followers.

In a separate post, self-described biotech consultant Larry Lynam referred to Cannon as a “traitorous c**t.”

Norman Ornstein, a senior fellow emeritus of the American Enterprise Institute, called Cannon a “disgraced to the law and to America.”

Other users suggested Cannon be removed from the bench following her ruling against Smith.

“Raise your hand if you agree Aileen Cannon should be EXPELLED from the bench and Jack Smith should immediately appeal to the 11th Circuit!!” wrote Call to Activism, a leftist digital platform led by attorney Joe Gallina, garnering nearly 900,000 views.

For his part, Smith remained notably silent when pressed by a reporter on Monday.

“Special counsel, do you plan on making a statement soon to us? Can we expect to hear from you today in the docs case sir?” asked ABC News reporter Tia Humphries.

Smith remained tight-lipped, staring at the floor as he walked alongside three men, one of whom appeared to be a bodyguard.

Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022 to investigate Trump over a dispute involving documents and the events of Jan. 6.

Trump and other legal scholars have long argued that Garland’s appointment violated the Appointments Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Smith plans to appeal the decision, according to DOJ spokesperson Peter Carr.

“The dismissal of the case deviates from the uniform conclusion of all previous courts to have considered the issue that the Attorney General is statutorily authorized to appoint a Special Counsel,” Carr claimed.

Union Leaders Address RNC as Trump Expands Rust-Belt Outreach

(Elias Irizarry, Headline USA) As was the case in 2020, the first day of the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee suggested that a major theme this year would be expanding the party’s reach to nontraditional GOP voters.

“In 2020, I made a mistake—a mistake that is hard to admit, especially in this room,” said Linda Fornos, an immigrant from Nicaragua. “In 2020, I voted for Joe Biden.”

“Make America Wealthy Once Again” was the night’s mantra, with a slate of speakers that included Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Byron Donalds of Florida, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and model Amber Rose (the ex girlfriend of rapper Kanye West).

While continuing to build on the inroads that third-time presidential nominee Donald Trump has made with groups like black and Hispanic voters, Generation Z voters and blue-collar wage-earners, Monday’s speakers seemed to take those outreach effort to the next level, even drawing criticism from some conservatives that it was beginning to lose sight of traditional conservative values.

Nowhere was that more apparent than in the decision by Trump to invite Big Labor to participate as he seeks to reclaim battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania that were key to his 2016 victory.

For the first time in history, the president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Sean O’Brien, addressed the GOP gathering, telling them that despite the group’s long history of donating to and contributing to Democrats, its only true loyalty was to the American worker.

“I refuse to keep doing the same things my predecessors did,” O’Brien said. “Today, the Teamsters are here to say we are not beholden to anyone or any party.”

Like many others, O’Brien offered his respects to Trump—who was present in the audience alongside his newly announced running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio—acknowledg-ing Trump’s perseverence after his attempted assassination at a weekend rally.

“President Trump had the backbone to open the door of this Republican convention, and that’s unprecedented,” said O’Brien.

“No other nominee in the race would’ve invited the Teamsters into this arena,” he continued. “And I think we can all agree—whether people like him or don’t like him—in light of what happened on Saturday, he has proven to be one tough S.O.B.”

The Teamsters chief railed against what he called an encroachment against him by the extremes of both the Left and the Right—stating that anti-union groups on the Right had demanded that the president rescind his invitation, while extremists on the Left had called him a traitor.

He additionally called out what he described as unfair conditions against working-class Americans by corporate America.

“I travel all across the country and meet with my members every week,” Obrien said.

“You know what I see? An American worker being taken for granted,” he continued. Workers being sold out to big banks, Big Tech, corporations and the elite.”

O’Brien cited Vance and Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., as two examples of Republican officials who had worked across the aisle with the Teamsters.

“The Teamsters and the GOP may not agree on many issues, but a growing group has shown the courage to sit down and consider points of views that aren’t funded by big-money think tanks,” he said.

Vance, who famously detailed his own blue-collar Ohio upbringing in the autobiographical book-turned-movie Hillbilly Elegy prior to becoming a senator, was selected by Trump in part due to his blue-collar sensibility.

O’Brien called him “one of a group of politicians who care about working people.”

The Teamsters boss was not the only union representative at the opening of the RNC convention on Monday.

Bobby Bartels, business manager of the Enterprise Association of Steamfitters Local 638 from New York City, also took the stage in support of the former president.

“Like many of my fellow union members, I’ve been a Democrat my whole life—but like so many of my fellow union members, we’ve come to expect empty promises from Democratic politicians,” Bartels said.

He condemned the Democrat leaders in New York City for permitting rampant violence in the streets, allowing illegal immigrants to take American jobs, and for overall incompetence.

The Steamfitter business manager spoke in-depth about his history with Trump, praising the former Manhattan real-estate mogul’s work in restoring New York City’s Wollman Rink, which Trump personally oversaw and invested in after the city government failed to do so.

“He wasn’t Mayor, he wasn’t running for anything, but he cared,” said Bartels. “Now, more than ever, we need a President who knows how to get things done.”

WATCH: SS Director Provides INSANE Excuse for Not Having Snipers on Rooftop

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) In a stunning admission, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle told ABC News in a Tuesday interview that she deliberately told her agents to stay off the building used by Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks to fire at Donald Trump and his supporters.

The reason Cheatle gave for keeping Secret Service off the roof is nonsensical.

“That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” she said.

“And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.”

Cheatle’s reason immediately was met with widespread criticism. Observers were quick to note that the Secret Service snipers who killed Crooks were, in fact, also on a sloped roof.

“Here is the counter sniper location she did authorize. Does that look flat to you Kim!?” responded libeterian pundit Clint Russell.

Cheatle’s response comes amidst revelations that law enforcement spotted Crooks roughly 30 minutes before his attack.

CBS reported more bizarre details about the incident Tuesday, including the fact that Crooks was reportedly spotted using a range finder.

Cheatle will be pressed more about the Secret Service security failures this Monday at a live congressional hearing.

“We are grateful to the brave Secret Service agents who acted quickly to protect President Trump after shots were fired and the American patriots who sought to help victims, but questions remain about how a rooftop within proximity to President Trump was left insecure,” Comer said in a Monday press release, announcing the hearing.

“Americans demand answers from Director Kimberly Cheatle about these security lapses and how we can prevent this from happening again. We look forward to Director Cheatle’s testimony this upcoming Monday, July 22.”

FBI Treating Trump Assassination Attempt as ‘Potential’ Terrorism, Warns of Retaliation

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The FBI was quick to paint peaceful Jan. 6 protestors as domestic terrorists, but it’s apparently hesitant to do so with the man who tried assassinating presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

ABC News reported Tuesday that the FBI is investigating Saturday’s Trump rally shooting as “potential domestic terrorism.”

“After conducting more than 100 interviews, searching the suspect’s home and vehicle, and cracking into his cellphone, FBI investigators were still searching on Tuesday for the motive that led a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man to attempt to assassinate a former president,” ABC reported.

ABC also reported on an FBI/DHS bulletin sent to law enforcement across the country, warning of potential for “follow-on” or “retaliatory” acts.

“We cannot rule out the possibility that some [domestic extremists] or other actors may attempt follow-on or retaliatory acts of violence in response to this assassination attempt,” the two agencies said in a joint bulletin, according to ABC.

Crooks was reportedly a registered Republican, but previously donated money to a radical leftist organization, the Progressive Turnout Project, in 2021.

If there’s evidence of his motivations, it would likely be found in his communications from Crooks’s activity on the gaming chat app Discord. As Headline USA detailed in an article Monday, Discord has been often used by mass shooters. More disturbingly, the app is used by feds, intelligence contractors and an assortment of bad actors to target gamers.

Perhaps the most notorious example of this is the 2022 Buffalo massacre. In that case, shooter Payton Gendron was active on Discord in the leadup to his killing spree. Even more bizarrely, Gendron had been chatting on Discord with a “retired federal agent” moments before he killed 10 people at the Buffalo supermarket.

Last April, the FBI denied Headline USA’s request for records on the retired federal agent’s links to Gendron, citing an ongoing investigation.

More recently, mass shooter Dylan Butler—who reportedly killed a sixth grader, injured four others and fatally shot himself at a school January in Iowa—was also reported to have used Discord.

NBC reported days after the shooting that Butler was a member of a Discord chat group called “School Massacres Discussion,” which was dedicated to discussing school shootings. According to NBC, another Discord user had notified the FBI about the chatroom months before the attack.

“The Discord user said they had flagged the chatroom to the FBI in November, after which an FBI agent reached out over email and asked for more information,” NBC reported in January.

“The user emailed the FBI agent screenshots of the server but did not hear back. The user said their report to the FBI did not include mention of the user ‘took2much.’ The chatroom was closed before the shooting.”

Indian Gold Demand Expected to Support Extended Gold Rally

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) According to a recent note by ANZ Bank, Indian gold demand could help extend the current gold rally and push the price of gold to $2,500 and beyond.

India ranks as the world’s number-two gold market behind China.

Gold prices have surged to record highs in both dollar and rupee terms. Indian buyers tend to be price sensitive, putting off purchases when prices climb. But the trend seems to be shifting.

Indian gold demand surged during an important festival in May. According to the World Gold Council, gold buying was brisk in both urban and rural areas.

According to ANZ analysts, that momentum appears to be carrying forward. Despite elevated prices, they project solid demand through the rest of the year.

“Higher prices are still dampening demand, but sensitivity has diminished over the past year. Despite a rise in gold’s price of more than 10 percent in 2023, consumer demand stayed buoyant at 760 tons, a marginal decline of only 2 percent y/y. The demand was also in line with the long-term (2013–22) average of 755 tons.”

Through the first five months of 2024, gold imports into India increased by 26 percent year-on-year, with 230 tons of gold flowing into the country. This is despite record-high prices.

According to ANZ analysts, economic growth and structural shifts are supporting gold demand.

“Higher capital gains and income growth have helped gold demand weather elevated prices.”

India’s gold market is primarily supported by demand for physical gold, particularly in the form of jewelry. Indian jewelry is typically made from pure 24-karat gold. It is considered an investment as much as an adornment.

ANZ analysts say rising per capita income in India’s emerging economy will be “a key driver” for the gold market in the long term.

“The country is on the cusp of economic expansion, which is expected to lift per capita income by more than 60 percent to $4,000 by 2030. There are other demographic changes like urbanization, an increasing middle-income group, and a falling rate of dependency, which can outweigh any negative impact of high gold prices.”

There are also some bullish factors in place for the short term.

The India Meteorological Department projects a good monsoon season with above-average rainfall over much of the country. This will likely result in increased crop yields, putting more money in the pockets of farmers. With gold serving as the primary asset to store wealth in rural areas of the country, this will likely boost gold demand.

According to ANZ analysts, there is also speculation that the government will lower the import duty on gold in the near future.

“India’s current account deficit of 1 percent leaves room for a change in gold’s import duty in the next Union Budget, and the industry is calling for a 5 percent cut. Should this materialize, gold imports will see a significant jump.”

Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India has been on a gold-buying spree. The Indian central bank added 37 tons of gold to its reserves through the first half of the year.

The RBI has been buying gold since 2017. Over that period, the central bank increased its gold holding by over 260 tons.

An Indian economist told the Times of India that the push to accumulate gold was based on both political and economic reasons. He said that the “reliability” of the U.S. dollar has “diminished.” He noted the “noticeable decline” in the confidence in U.S. dollar assets.

Another economist told the Times, “It makes a lot of sense (to invest in gold), given the increased volatility in the FX market, elevated interest rates in the U.S., and, of course, also as the central banks in each economy would like to diversify the asset classes in which they are parking their reserves.”

India recently transported 100 tons of its gold from the UK back into India.

Indians have historically had an affinity for gold. Indian households own an estimated 25,000 tons of gold, and that likely understates the amount given the large black market in the country. Gold is deeply interwoven into the country’s marriage ceremonies and cultural rituals. Indians have long valued the yellow metal as a store of wealth, especially in poorer rural regions. Around two-thirds of India’s gold demand comes from beyond the urban centers, where large numbers of people operate outside the tax system.

Gold isn’t considered a luxury in India. Even poor Indians buy gold. According to a 2018 ICE 360 survey, one in every two households in India had purchased gold within the last five years. Overall, 87 percent of Indian households own some gold. Even households at the lowest income levels in India hold some of the yellow metal. According to the survey, more than 75 percent of families in the bottom 10 percent of income managed to buy some gold.

The yellow metal was a lifeline for Indians buffeted by the economic storm caused by the government’s response to COVID-19. After the Indian government locked down the country, banks tightened credit to mitigate the default risk. Unable to secure traditional loans, Indians used gold to secure financing. As Indians endured a second wave of lockdowns, many Indians resorted to selling gold outright to make ends meet.

Solid gold demand in India is indicative of a trend we’ve been seeing with gold flowing from the West to the East. While investment demand in Europe and North America has been tepid, investors in Asian countries have been gobbling up gold.

Along with India, gold buying in China, the world’s largest gold market, has been robust. Vietnamese and Thai investors are flocking to gold despite long lines and high prices. And gold is flying off convenience store shelves in Korea.

When Western investors hop on the bandwagon, we could see another big surge in demand, pushing prices even higher.

Secret Service Director to Testify at Public Congressional Hearing on Monday

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., has announced that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle will sit before his committee this Monday to answer questions about her agency’s stunning security failures at Saturday’s Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“We are grateful to the brave Secret Service agents who acted quickly to protect President Trump after shots were fired and the American patriots who sought to help victims, but questions remain about how a rooftop within proximity to President Trump was left unsecure,” Comer said in a Monday press release.

“Americans demand answers from Director Kimberly Cheatle about these security lapses and how we can prevent this from happening again. We look forward to Director Cheatle’s testimony this upcoming Monday, July 22.”

Comer also requested records about the Trump rally, where 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks shot presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, killed a firefighter, and put at least two others in critical condition.

Comer seeks complete list of federal, state and local law enforcement personnel involved in protecting Trump at the Butler event. He also wants all audio and footage from the event, as well as any memorandum or notice issued by Director Cheatle to Secret Service personnel regarding the assassination attempt.

At this point, the Secret Service’s security failures seem inexplicable.

Channel 11 news in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania reported Monday that Crooks was spotted by law enforcement on a roof nearly 30 minutes before his attack.

“Channel 11′s Nicole Ford confirmed that Beaver County’s ESU team had eight members at the rally, including snipers and spotters. According to Ford’s sources, one of them noticed a suspicious man on a roof near the rally at 5:45 p.m., called it in and took a picture of the person. We have learned from our sources the person in that picture is Thomas Crooks. We’re told it’s not clear if Crooks had a gun with him at that point,” the local news station reported Monday afternoon.

“According to multiple sources, a law enforcement officer had also previously seen Crooks on the ground and called him in as a suspicious person with a picture prior to 5:45 p.m. Our sources tell us an officer checked the grounds for Crooks at that point, but did not see him where the first picture was taken,” the news station added.

“26 minutes after the second picture of Crooks was taken by law enforcement and the information called in, shots were fired from the roof of the American Glass Research building. Seconds later, a Secret Service sniper returned fire and killed Crooks.”
