DOJ Charges Jan. 6 Shooter 3 Year Later, after Protestor Releases Footage

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The FBI arrested on Friday a man who fired two shots into the air during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill uprising—but only after footage of the crime was released by a J6 protestor.

The Justice Department announced Friday that J6 shooter John Emanuel Banuelos made his initial court appearance that day to face charges of trespassing, felony civil disorder, and firing a weapon on Capitol grounds.

Banuelos was identified immediately after Jan. 6, 2021—featured on a Vice documentary flashing a handgun. The FBI had Banuelos on its radar by Feb. 4, 2021, according to charging documents.

However, footage of Banuelos firing his gun wasn’t released until last month by former West Virginia lawmaker and current congressional candidate Derrick Evans, who pled guilty to disorderly conduct and trespassing on Capitol grounds in March 2022.

According to Evans, Banuelos’s gunshots “started it all.” He contended that Capitol Police began firing teargas into the crowd right after the gunshots at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 6. All hell broke loose soon thereafter.

Other Jan. 6 researchers argued with Evans that the gunshots were fired after the rioting had already begun.

Either way, Evans said it’s highly suspicious that the FBI didn’t arrest Banuelos until after his footage was made public.

“Government had video of him shooting a gun on J6 for over three years, but they didn’t arrest him until I broke the story and it got national coverage. Most likely another Ray Epps situation,” Evans said Friday.

The FBI charging papers indicate that the FBI was monitoring Banuelos before Evans released his footage.

The FBI agent who signed an affidavit for the shooter’s arrest said he interviewed him in January about possible threats against federal agents. Banuelos had allegedly posted a video of himself with a semi-automatic weapon in response to a tweet of an FBI poster with his picture.

“In response to that post by ‘John Banuelos’ on X, your affiant interviewed BANUELOS during which BANUELOS denied intending to threaten anyone and claimed that many of his posts were done by artificial intelligence,” the FBI agent said.

“BANUELOS stated that any weapons seen in his posts on X were fake and/or done by artificial intelligence. BANUELOS agreed to refrain from posting any further threatening messages.”

Other than the Vice documentary, Banuelos was first in the public spotlight in February 2022, when news broke that he had been arrested in relation to a fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old in a Utah park in July 2021.

When he was arrested, he reportedly told police about his activities on Jan. 6.

“Man, should I just tell the FBI to come get me or what …?” Banuelos, 39, asked detectives, according to a transcript of the interview obtained by KSL.com through a public records request.

“Do you have a warrant?” one detective asked.

“Probably,” he said. “I was in the D.C. riots.”

“On Jan. 6?” the other detective asked. “Did you go inside the Capitol?”

“Yeah, I went inside and I’m the one with the video with the gun right here,” Banuelos said.

Sedition Hunters, the group that is helping the FBI hunt down Jan. 6 prosecutors, has a file on Banuelos. One of the most interesting videos of him is from what appears to be the night before the rally, when he reveals his history of mental-health problems.

“Now I’ve got a purpose … Democrats just give you free stuff and they don’t tell you you’re crazy. How many hospitals have I been to? How many mental hospitals? Because I thought I had a problem … Now I’ve got to reprogram my brain and be humble … I’m willing to play my role. Are you willing to play yours?” he said in the video.

FBI Ramping up its Targeting of Gamers

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Video games used to be a safe space for young men to express themselves, but the U.S. government is now treating them as terrorist breeding grounds.

A Feb. 28 report from the Government Accountability Office gives the latest insight on how U.S. agencies are infiltrating gaming servers, revealing that the FBI increased its efforts towards that end in 2023.

“Officials said in 2023, the FBI worked to increase engagement with gaming and gaming-adjacent companies for the annual meeting and on outreach efforts with the program manager. Officials said that as the FBI works with more companies, it continues to learn how companies operate, the type of behavior and content companies see on their platforms, and the extent to which companies report information as tips,” the GAO report said.

The GAO didn’t chastise the FBI for its efforts to monitor gamers, but said the bureau should have a strategy for identifying companies to engage with and the goals and desired outcomes of those engagements.

The GAO cites several extremist attacks that were allegedly plotted or fomented on gaming platforms.

For instance, the May 2022 Buffalo mass shooter livestreamed his attack on a video streaming platform. However, the GAO report didn’t mention that the shooter was talking to a with a “retired federal agent”—which, along with raising alarming questions about that attack, shows that the government has already been monitoring gamers for years.

The GAO report also implausibly alleged that the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill uprising was planned on gaming platforms—even though the Justice Department hasn’t revealed evidence of that.

“For example, according to a National Fusion Center Association official, social media users plotting the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol used code words for weapons, so they could covertly discuss plans to bring weapons to the Capitol,” the report said, failing to provide evidence for this claim.

While the FBI and other agencies said mass surveillance of gamers is necessary to prevent terrorism, an alternative motive was revealed last year. NBC News reported last April that the Biden administration was increasing its surveillance of gamers in response to classified Pentagon documents that were leaked onto a Discord server.

Citing an anonymous administration official and a congressional official who was briefed on the matter, NBC News reported at the time that the Biden White House is “looking at expanding the universe of online sites that intelligence agencies and law enforcement authorities track.”

NBC News also quoted former NSA top lawyer Glenn Gerstell, who claimed that “we do not have nor do we want a system where the United States government monitors private internet chats.”

Which Countries Produced the Most Gold in 2023?

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) Where does the world’s gold come from? Mine output rose modestly by 1 percent in 2023 to 3644.4 tons, but it still hasn’t recovered to pre-pandemic levels.

Gold production had flatlined even before the pandemic. After slowing for several years, gold mine output fell by 1 percent in 2019. Although that year marked the first absolute decline in gold production since 2008, there has been a general trend of diminishing mine output.

Some analysts speculate that we could be close to “peak gold.” That is the pace of gold mining output will contract on an annual basis. This is due to the fact that the easier-to-access gold close to the Earth’s surface is quickly running out, leaving deeper veins of gold that are more difficult and expensive to mine. It’s hard to determine when we will hit peak gold due to technological developments that help find new deposits and make extracting gold less difficult.

But as long as gold is valuable, people will be digging it out of the ground.

Here are the top 10 gold producers in 2023:

  1. China (370 tons) – China has led the world in gold production for many years. Mine output was up by 5.7 percent in 2023. It was the first increase in Chinese gold production for several years.
  2. (tie) Australia (310 tons) – Gold production dipped slightly last year, falling by about 10-tons. Australia has the highest level of known gold reserves, estimated to be about 12,000 tons.
  3. (tie) Russia (310 tons) – Russian gold output also fell last year, keeping the country tied with Australia for the number-two spot. Russia has historically produced much of the gold consumed in Europe, but the Russian government is the biggest buyer of Russian gold. Sanctions in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine stopped the flow of Russian gold into Europe. The country has sought alternative markets, particularly in the BRICS bloc. Russia holds the second-highest gold reserves, estimated at 11,100 tons.
  4. Canada (200 tons) – Canadian mine output was down by a modest 6 tons last year. Canada leapfrogged the U.S. to grab the #4 spot in 2021. Gold ranks as the nation’s most valuable mined commodity, with domestic exports reaching C$22.34 billion.
  5. The United States (170 tons) – U.S. gold output was flat in 2023, dropping by about 3 tons year-on-year. U.S. mine output has fallen consistently since 2017. Nevada was the top state for gold production, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The state accounts for 73 percent of the U.S. gold production.
  6. Kazakhstan (130 tons) – Kazakhstan mine production increased by 10 tons last year. The country wasn’t even among the top 10 gold producers in 2021. In 2016, Kazakh mines only produced 69 tons of gold.
  7. Mexico (120 tons) – Mexican gold production was roughly on par with its 2022 output.
  8. Indonesia (110 tons) – Indonesia upped its gold production by about 5 tons last year. Mining is one of the country’s most important economic sectors.
  9. South Africa (100 tons) – The Witwatersrand Basin is one of the largest gold resources in the world, and South Africa once led the world in gold production, but output has dropped in recent years. Between 1980 and 2018 the country’s gold output fell by 85 percent. Some analysts estimate that at current production levels, the country has only 39 years of accessible gold reserves remaining. Nevertheless, mine output was up by 11 tons last year.
  10. Uzbekistan (100 tons) – Uzbek gold production was flat in 2023. Uzbekistan has significant gold reserves, but mine output tanked after the fall of the Soviet Union. In 2019, the Uzbek government announced renewed investment in gold exploration and mining. The Muruntau gold mine is one of the largest gold operations in the world.

De-Dollarization Is Not Just a Wild Conspiracy Theory

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) What is driving the recent gold rally? As with any bull run, there are many factors — hope that the Federal Reserve is about to get the easy money gravy train back on the track chief among them. However, I have speculated that one of the underlying reasons for the recent rise in the price of gold is de-dollarization driven by the weaponization of the dollar.

You might find this idea far-fetched, but it isn’t as “fringe” as you might think.

One thing is certain: somebody is buying gold right now.

The yellow metal set a record of just over $2,195 per ounce last week, and records aren’t just falling in dollar terms. Gold made 50-year highs versus three-quarters of major developed and emerging market currencies last week.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that gold prices started breaking records not long after U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen turned heads by brazenly calling for liquidating frozen Russian assets totaling around $300 billion and using the proceeds to help rebuild war-torn Ukraine.

Economist Jim Rickards floated a similar belief in a post on X saying he has “no doubt” that one of the main drivers for the gold rally is this push to “steal” from Russia. And he picked up on the broader implications, saying, “Once Treasuries are unsafe, Euro and Yen notes don’t look any better. Countries are going for gold.”

This isn’t mere speculation. Central bank gold buying has been on a record pace for more than two years.

Of course, it’s not unreasonable to conclude that using the dollar as a foreign policy hammer could make countries wary of holding dollars. Still, you might think this a far-fetched theory held by contrarians and conspiracy theorists. Nevertheless, similar thoughts have occurred to people more in the “mainstream.”

Bloomberg macro strategist Simon White recently published an article noting that central banks are accumulating gold “in an effort to diversify away from the dollar.

White notes two reasons central banks are abandoning dollars for gold.

First, despite the Federal Reserve’s efforts, inflation isn’t beat. White points out that “persistently large fiscal deficits threaten to further erode its real value and lead to more inflation.”

“Central banks everywhere are quite possibly uneasy about owning too many dollars when the US is running large, inflation-causing fiscal deficits. The dollar is structurally overvalued on a purchasing-power-parity basis versus the main DM currencies.”

White says the trend is toward “dollar underperformance” in the coming years.

Second, countries, particularly those on less friendly terms with the U.S., are watching how the U.S. handles Russian assets, and it’s making them nervous. White called the worry about the weaponization of the dollars the “dominant reason” central banks are turning to gold.

“Central banks want gold as it is a hard asset, not part of the financialized system when owned outright. But the dominant reason is a desire to diversify away from the dollar. If you’re not on friendly terms with the U.S., then it is a way to avoid your reserve assets being seized, as happened to Russia.”

White notes that central banks are buying gold even as institutional investors continue to spurn the yellow metal with ETF gold holding dropping.

He points out that “the bulk of seasonal buying, for instance, Diwali in India, is likely behind us.” He also noted that while silver has also rallied, it is nowhere near record levels.

“It’s, therefore, a reasonable supposition the official sector, i.e. central banks, has been a significant driver of gold’s recent ascent to new highs.”

And he points out that “in the runup to the pandemic, and again in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, global central banks have continued to add to their gold holdings even as ETF investors (perhaps dazzled by the bright lights of crypto) have reduced theirs.”

It’s time for investors to take note. After all, you and I face the same risk from the dollar as foreign countries. The only way to stop the declining purchasing power of the dollar from stealing your wealth is to not hold dollars.

New Transcript Backs Trump’s Call for National Guard Deployment on J6

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The anti-Trump Jan. 6 Committee may have cunningly hidden corroborating evidence showing former President Donald Trump’s request for National Guard deployment days before the violence erupted on that day.

According to a transcribed interview, never seen before but released on Friday by House Republicans, Trump demanded the National Guard deploy at least 10,000 men on Jan. 6, when Congress certified the results of the 2020 election.

Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato shared with congressional investigators his recollections of discussions within the White House regarding this potential deployment. Regrettably for Trump, his testimony remained unreleased.

Ornato recounted that former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows explicitly offered D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser the National Guard deployment.

“‘[Trump is] willing to ask for 10,000,’” Ornato informed the Jan. 6 Committee, quoting Meadows’s conversation with Bowser. However, Bowser declined the offer, insisting on deploying only a few hundred individuals.

Contrary to this revelation, disgraced former Rep. Liz Cheney appeared to incorrectly state that there was no evidence supporting Trump’s push for National Guard deployment to the U.S. Capitol.

Furthermore, the newly revealed information – supressed for at least two years – appears to contradict allegations that Trump deliberately put the U.S. Capitol at risk on Jan. 6, according to Rep. Barry Loudermilk.

Loudermilk, who chairs the House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight, scolded the apparently deliberate attempt to withhold Ornato’s testimony.

“The former J6 Select Committee apparently withheld Mr. Ornato’s critical witness testimony from the American people because it contradicted their pre-determined narrative,” he told the conservative news outlet Federalist, which first released the transcribed interview.

“Mr. Ornato’s testimony proves what Mr. Meadows has said all along: President Trump did in fact offer 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the U.S. Capitol, which was turned down,” the Republican lawmaker added.

Cannibalism in Haiti? Disturbing Video Emerges Amid Biden Embassy’s Evacuation

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE FEATURES GRAPHIC FOOTAGE AND DESCRIPTIVE LANGUAGE THAT SOME READERS MAY FIND UPSETTING.

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A formidable and fringe Haitian gang has surged to prominence as arguably the most powerful, armed force in the country, seizing control in the absence of the prime minister, who remains stranded after visiting Kenya earlier this month.

Disturbing videos have surfaced revealing the heinous acts allegedly carried out by this gang. One purported video, shared by Black conservative influencer Dom Lucre, depicts a gang member consuming the body parts of a burned victim.

While Headline USA has been unable to independently verify the video, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele recounted how gangs in his country once bathed with the skulls of their victims.

“We saw similar images in El Salvador a few years ago. Gangs bathing with the skulls of their victims,” Bukele wrote on Twitter. “All the ‘experts’ said they couldn’t be defeated, because they were an ‘intrinsic part of our society’. They were wrong. We obliterated them.”

Militant leader Jimmy Chérizier, also known as “Barbecue” or “BBQ,” has seized control of significant parts of the country and has announced plans for further military actions. His name is linked to allegations that his gang burns his victims alive.

“I am ready to make an alliance with the devil, ready to sleep in the same bed as the devil,” Chérizier declared in a speech to his backers last week, as reported by the New York Post.

Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry landed in Puerto Rico last week after the Dominican Republican denied his entry after halting all Haiti-bound flights. He has since been unable to enter Haiti.

The violence in Haiti has led President Joe Biden to order the evacuation of some U.S. Embassy personnel from the poverty-stricken Caribbean nation.

“Heightened gang violence in the neighborhood near U.S. embassy compounds and near the airport led to the State Department’s decision to arrange for the departure of additional embassy personnel,” the embassy wrote on Sunday. “All arriving and departing passengers work for the U.S. government.”

One factor likely contributing to the evacuation is the emergence of disturbing videos on social media depicting the inhumane acts of the most powerful gangs, such as “G9 and Family.”

Most recently, the Haitian national police union has accused the gang of attacking two of the largest prisons in Haiti, resulting in the escape of at least 4,000 incarcerated criminals.

The chaos in Haiti has sparked widespread concerns about the U.S. southern border, with many Haitians flooding the border due to the turmoil in their country and the permissiveness of the Biden administration.

Conspiracy Theorist Adam Schiff Begs Biden to ‘Dumb Down’ Trump’s Briefings

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Disgraced former House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has called on U.S. agencies to “dumb down” pre-election intelligence briefings intended for former President Donald Trump, a practice observed by past presidents since the 1950s.

Schiff’s statements were made during a Sunday interview on NBC News’s Meet the Press, amid left-wing and anti-Trump concerns surrounding such briefings.

“I have to hope—and knowing the intelligence community as I do—that they will dumb down the briefing for Donald Trump,” Schiff remarked. “That is, they will give him no more information than absolutely necessary, nothing that would reveal sources or methods, because we can’t trust that he will do the right thing with that information.”

Schiff’s remarks came after the Biden administration chose not to block Trump, the GOP presidential candidate, from receiving briefings on national security and other critical topics. Opting otherwise would have represented a departure from the customary practice for major presidential candidates.

While these briefings aim to prepare candidates for the presidency, the Biden administration initially deliberated on whether to prevent Trump from receiving such briefings.

These briefings are offered to former presidents and the presidential nominees of major political parties. However, President Joe Biden suspended these briefings for Trump, expressing concerns about the potential leakage of sensitive information.

“There’s no need for him to have that intelligence briefing,” Biden stated in February 2021. “What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all, other than the fact that he might slip and say something?”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reiterated on Wednesday that Biden stands by his 2021 remarks. “I think the president words stand today as he stated them however long ago,” she claimed. “I don’t think his mind has changed on that.”

Contrary to these assertions, Politico reported on Thursday that the administration has agreed to offer the briefings to Trump.

Left-wing critics point to the ongoing criminal case involving the alleged mishandling of classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago. Such criticism ignores the facts that Biden was eventually caught mishandling classified documents himself.

In contrast to Trump, Biden never possessed the authority to declassify documents found in his Delaware home.

McConnell’s Sister-in-Law Drowned in Tesla w/ ‘Nearly Impossible’ to Break Windows

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) New details have emerged surrounding the suspicious death of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s sister-in-law, Angela Chao, who drowned after mistakenly reversing her Tesla Model X into a Texas pond on Feb. 11.

The Wall Street Journal suggested Saturday that Chao may have died due to the strengthened windows on her Tesla, which proved “nearly impossible” to break as individuals desperately attempted a rescue.

Shortly after entering the pond, Chao made a desperate call to friends. Friends, a ranch manager, paramedics, firefighters and sheriff’s deputies made numerous attempts over hours to break the windows, but their rescue efforts proved in vain.

Despite these revelations, Texas law enforcement officials are actively leading an investigation. According to NBC Los Angeles, the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that this “was not a typical accident” and is currently reviewing the evidence of the case before ruling out potential criminal activity.

The recent revelations may offer some closure to the mourning family members of Chao, a 50-year-old billionaire shipping magnate and sister of former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, who has been married to McConnell since 1993.

Chao’s Tesla Model X used tempered and laminated glass designed to protect passengers from being thrown out in a crash. However, underwater, such materials are “nearly impossible” to break, as noted by the American Automobile Association.

Chao was attempting a three-point turn before hitting the pond, and despite a tow truck arriving post-rescue attempts, it lacked a cord long enough to reach the submerged Tesla.

After the car was finally pulled from the pond, hundreds of gallons poured out, and Chao was found unresponsive. Despite 43 minutes of revival attempts, she was eventually declared dead.

In a Feb. 28 speech before the Senate floor, McConnell, the longest-serving Republican Senate leader, cited Chao’s passing as a reason for his decision to retire.

“As some of you may know, this has been a particularly difficult time for my family, McConnell said. “We tragically lost Elaine’s youngest sister, Angela a few weeks ago. When you lose a loved one, particularly at a young age, there is a certain introspection that accompanies the grieving process.”

McConnell added: “Perhaps it is God’s way of reminding you of your own life’s journey to reprioritize the impact on the world that we will all inevitably leave behind. I turned 82 last week. The end of my contributions are closer than I’d prefer.”

Biden’s Open Border Proves Lucrative for Fake ID Schemes

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The open-border crisis under President Joe Biden has proven lucrative not only for coyotes, human traffickers, and drug dealers but also for gang members funneling fake American identification on the streets of New York City.

As reported by the New York Post on Saturday, at least 10 men were seen peddling counterfeit green cards and social security cards in a Jackson Heights, Queens-based neighborhood. The price for these documents varies between $80 and $250, depending on the required specifications.

Fake documents can be used to obtain employment, apartment leases, bank accounts, and even driver’s licenses.

The most notable case involves illegal aliens tied to the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley. 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra, the accused murderer, made his way to Georgia after his brother used a fake green card to obtain a job at the University of Georgia.

The University of Georgia is where Riley studied before she was allegedly brutally murdered by Ibarra, a Venezuelan national residing in the country illegally. He was paroled into the U.S. by the Biden administration in September 2022.

The use of fake identification cards extends beyond merely applying for jobs. Former DHS agent Bruce Foucart told the Post that terrorists could also be weaponizing such fake cards.

“For someone that wants to do terrorist activity or is a national security threat, it’s easy to establish this second life within the US,” he said.

As recounted by the NY Post, five men were offering social security cards outside a Queens grocery store, whispering “social, social.” One of the men told the NY Post’s reporters, “They work… I need your name, your whole name, your age… I can take your picture.”

Another salesperson admitted to providing fake documents to “many” individuals without providing a specific total.

In Queens, the Roosevelt neighborhood has been an epicenter for crime, drugs, and prostitution, with many individuals, including transgenders, publicly offering sexual favors in exchange for cash.

The production of fake identification cards is punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Virginia Police Academy Faces Backlash for Chinese Certificates

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A Virginia-based police academy came under fire following reports that its director signed the certificates of recent graduates in Chinese, leading to a backlash within lower ranks.

NBC 4 reported on March 8 that the police chief of the Herndon Police Department is now calling for a reissue of the certificates.

The internal conflict arose when Major Wilson Lee, the new director of the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy, used his Chinese name to endorse the certificates of a graduating class from the Herndon Police Department, which falls under Fairfax County’s jurisdiction.

Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBoard criticized the Chinese signature in an email to Lee, according to NBC 4.

“I just found out that the academy graduation certificates were signed by you in some other language, not in English,” DeBoard slammed. “This is unacceptable for my agency.”

DeBoard’s demands for an English signature faced opposition from Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis, who reportedly accused her of “being racist.” In response, DeBoard defended her stance, as reported by NBC 4.

“Because we operate in our profession on a written common platform of English, I asked to have our officers’ certificates reissued to the graduates with the commander’s name written in English, as has always been the tradition,” she told the outlet.

She added, “There was no intention of racial insensitivity on my part when I made the request to address this change, and it is quite concerning from a professional standpoint that he has chosen to raise this issue outside of our agencies and place judgement on my character.”

In the face of the backlash, the Fairfax County police hailed Lee, who assumed leadership of the academy less than a year ago.

“Our last several recruit classes are majority minority as we make historic strides to better reflect the community we serve,” the statement said.

The Fairfax County added: “Any expressed sentiments that appear to take issue with these realities are unfortunate and not reflective of Fairfax County’s commitment to our inclusive One Fairfax mission.”
