Shots Fired at ICE Facility

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Federal authorities announced Thursday the launch of an investigation into an alleged shooting at an Arizona federal immigration facility.

The FBI said the shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon outside the Enforcement and Removal Operations building on North Central Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona.

No one was injured in connection with the incident, the bureau said on X.

The FBI said that a preliminary investigation suggests that one or more unidentified individuals discharged “several rounds that struck the exterior on various parts of the structure.”

Video recorded by the outlet Rapid Report shows a glass window broken by what appears to be a gunshot.

The alleged incident comes as the Trump administration has sounded the alarm about an increase in violence targeting federal immigration agents and officers.

Meanwhile, Democrats have increased their scrutiny of the DHS amid a series of deadly incidents involving individuals targeted during immigration operations.

Democrats have cited those incidents, along with other alleged missteps by DHS, as they criticize the agency’s immigration enforcement operations.

Last month, Headline USA spoke exclusively with a man whom DHS initially misidentified as the perpetrator of a car assault involving an ICE agent.

The man, initially identified as Friedrich Castillo-Ormeno, had self-deported to Peru in March, making it unlikely that he was the perpetrator.

DHS later clarified that it did not technically identify Castillo-Ormeno as the suspect. However, its initial statement said an ICE agent had been struck by a vehicle while conducting an immigration operation at Castillo-Ormeno’s former address.

It remains unclear why ICE was conducting an operation at Castillo-Ormeno’s previous address, as he was no longer in the country and had already received the Trump-backed bonus for self-deportees.

Castillo-Ormeno has since considered taking legal action to clear his name. During his brief stay in the United States, he had a child who is now a U.S. citizen due to birthright citizenship.

DHS also suspended two ICE agents following allegations that they made false statements regarding a Jan. 14 shooting involving a Venezuelan illegal immigrant in Minneapolis.

Shortly after the shooting, DHS claimed the man, Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, had attacked an ICE agent with a snow shovel and broom handle. Video evidence showed Sosa-Celis retreating to his home before he was struck by gunfire.

Despite the high-profile incidents, DHS has said immigration operations are crucial to locating illegal immigrants who have been convicted of violent crimes while in the United States.

Florida GOP Candidate Arrested for Threatening to Kill Trump

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) An former Marine, currently running as a write-in candidate to challenge Rep. John Rutherford in Florida’s 5th District, was arrested following an unhinged rant that referred to President Donald Trump as the antichrist and appeared to encourage another attempted assassination.

In two videos posted to his social media, William Upham suggested using a semiautomatic rifle to fire “two shots to the chest” and “one shot to the head” in order to “overthrow” Trump, according to a press release from the Justice Department.

In the videos, Upham, dressed in his Marine fatigues, attacks Democrats for being “wrong on the common-sense issues” and accuses Republicans of supporting systemic racism.

Both are also steeped in intense biblical imagery, accusing Trump of posing as a false idol for posting a meme of himself as a Christ-like figure.

“The lamb will be sacrificed to pay for all of our sins, and our country will be saved from the Babylon that we have become,” Upham said in one of the videos.

The criminal complaint filed last week in Duval County by the U.S. Secret Service said the 35-year-old Jacksonville resident was in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 871 for making threats against the president. The charge carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison.

Upham was medically discharged from service last year for mental-health reasons, according to a statement released by the Marine Corps.

It added that “The comments made by Upham are a direct violation of the oath he swore to uphold and are not in keeping with the service’s values.”

The Justice Department also indicated that Upham had served as a state prosecutor.

He was approved in April to run in the Aug. 18 GOP primary for the House seat, but he filed last month to be re-designated from a Republican Party candidate to a write-in candidate, according to state records.

Sadly, Upham is just one of several high-profile cases involving servicemembers who have lost grip on their sanity due to Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Jason Watson, a U.S. Air Force major, was arrested on the steps of the U.S. Capitol earlier this month while wearing his active-duty uniform after calling for the impeachment and removal of Trump and Vice President JD Vance, CNN reported.

In February 2024, Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old Air Force senior airman, died after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., USA Today reported.

The Pentagon also threatened to demote Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., who retired as a captain in the U.S. Navy, after Kelly joined five other deep-state lawmakers — collectively known as the “Seditious Six” — to urge active-duty servicemembers to ignore any orders from Trump that they deemed unlawful.

Trump has been the target of multiple serious assassination attempts, including the July 2024 attempt during a Butler, Pa., rally that grazed his ear and killed rallygoer Corey Comperatore.

Rhetoric glorifying left-wing political violence also was blamed, in part, for the Sept. 10, 2025 assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Hawaii’s Supreme Court Says It Refuses to Abide by Racist SCOTUS Rulings

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) The Hawaii Supreme Court issued an insubordinate rant in a recent legal opinion that accused the U.S. Supreme Court of being racist and seemed to assert a special dispensation to ignore the law of the land.

“A court that systematically dismantles democratic safeguards, steamrolls constitutional liberties, and tramples human dignity does not chart the course for the Hawaiʻi Constitution,” said the opinion, authored by Justice Todd Eddins.

Eddins, a Caucasian born in Kentucky, was appointed to a 10-year term on the Hawaiian court by Democrat Gov. David Ige in 2020.

Despite having no claim to Hawaii’s native heritage, he boldly threw down the race card against conservative jurists like U.S. Justice Clarence Thomas, who is black.

“The Roberts Court sees only white,” Eddins claimed.

“It refuses to acknowledge who the Equal Protection Clause was written to protect,” he added. “The freed people, their descendants, and all others denied equal citizenship.”

The opinion in question stemmed from an appeal in the case of Daniel R. Granillo, who was convicted in 1990 of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman at a Maui shopping center.

The court called for a new trial, saying that scientific developments had rendered the forensic evidence used to convict Granillo invalid.

But the ruling itself went off the rails with Eddins’s acknowledgement that the decision relied on Hawaiian precedent while ignoring that of the federal courts.

For eight pages in the 91-page screed, Eddins attacked the high court for a multitude of opinions that he and his bench-mates seemed to disagree with, including the overturning of Roe v. Wade, allowing corporate spending on campaigns via Citizens United, landmark rulings on gun rights and presidential immunity, and the recent overturn of parts of the Civil Rights-era Voting Rights Act via Louisiana v. Callais.

“The Court calls the Constitution colorblind while engineering the dilution of Black votes, the unraveling of hard-fought civil rights remedies, and the erasure of Black history,” Eddins wrote. “That is not blindness. That is white sight, by design.”

Louisiana’s lawyers argued in the landmark case released earlier this year that states subject to federal oversight under the VRA should be free to make their own redistricting decisions without having to factor race into the mix.

By carving out special Democrat-dominated districts, they effectively undermined rather than aided the advancement of civil rights in places like Memphis, Tenn., where Steve Cohen — a white, Jewish Democrat — had defeated Charlotte Bergmann — a black Republican woman — in five past election cycles.

Constitutional law expert Jonathan Turley slammed the Hawaiian court ruling as “an appalling departure from judicial restraint and decorum.”

However, it is not the first time the Hawaiian court has caused scandal for its defiant streak.

In a 2024 ruling, it flagrantly ignored Second Amendment gun rights by attempting to ban individuals from carrying firearms in public.

“The spirit of Aloha clashes with a federally-mandated lifestyle that lets citizens walk around with deadly weapons during day-to-day activities,” said the ruling, also authored by Eddins.

Stunningly, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to review the case of Wilson v. Hawaii, but the court’s two most conservative justices, Thomas and Samuel Alito, issued a decision that declined to take up the case before the full court, thereby leaving the Hawaii court’s ruling intact.

Pink Floyd Star Laments Censorship of Russian Media, Calls Out Propaganda

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Roger Waters, the Pink Floyd veteran responsible for its 1979 masterwork The Wall, slammed European nations for trying unnecessarily to extend war with Russia in order to reap the profits from it, according to Kremlin mouthpiece Russia Today.

Waters, who has been outspoken in his anti-globalist views throughout much of his life and career, held nothing back during a recent interview with like-minded controversy embracer Tucker Carlson.

The wide-ranging conversation touched on an array of hot topics, including the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the JFK assassination and the Israeli—Palestinian conflict, as well as the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

Waters accused Western governments — particularly those in the European Union — of censoring RT in order to push anti-Russian propaganda that benefited the elite ruling class.

“It sort of breaks my heart that I can’t watch RT anymore because it’s banned,” he said.

Many EU officials have touted Ukraine’s ability to hold the line as evidence that the investment was paying off, while assuming — falsely, perhaps — that Russia’s objective was to claim additional territory.

“Look at things from a Moscow perspective,” Finnish President Alexander Stubb told CNBC during the NATO summit in Turkey this month. “In the past four years, during the active war, they have advanced 60 kilometers. In World War II, they went from Moscow to Berlin, that’s 1,400 kilometers.”

He added that European allies needed to continue their support with drone warfare and other air defenses.

“My message is that yes, Europe needs to ramp up, but you know what, Ukraine needs NATO, but NATO needs Ukraine as much as the other way around,” Stubb claimed.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy — who suspended democratic elections for the duration of the war — recently raised some alarm after unexpectedly firing top officials, including his defense minister, Mykhailo Fedorov.

“A new structure has been launched, many staff members have been dismissed, and numerous processes have been initiated,” Fedorov wrote in a parting message posted on Telegram, as translated by The Hill.

Nonetheless, recent reports from European officials have suggested the tide of the war has turned in favor of the former Soviet satellite, which first shook off its Russian-backed government in a 2014 color revolution backed by the Obama administration.

“Russia is certainly not winning the war against Ukraine right now,” Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson told CNBC during the NATO summit. “Ukraine is having spectacular successes.”

Waters, in his interview with Carlson, questioned whether Russia’s objectives had been accurately conveyed to Western audiences without direct access to all of the information.

“The Russians don’t want to invade Europe. What are they talking about?” he said, citing a common talking point used as justification for continuing to supply weapons and other resources.

The legendary bassist observed that the warmongering did little to benefit the actual people of Ukraine, echoing points previously made by Carlson.

EU officials “don’t make any pretense that they care,” Waters said.

Carlson, Fox News’s former top-rated primetime host, was fired from his role in 2023, just months after pro-Ukraine investment giant BlackRock acquired a 15.1% stake in the Fox Corporation.

He had been a regular critic of the war, leading many to question its true objectives and costs.

Carlson, now an independent podcaster, has also criticized the Trump administration over its war with Iran and capitulation to Israel. He recently announced his departure from the Republican Party, hinting at the establishment of a third party.

Waters suggested that the rock star and Fox star could unite to tear down the industrial war complex and its thought-control efforts, brick by brick.

“[Y]ou, with your audience – or me with my tiny voice – can join with our brothers and sisters and pull together the ordinary working people all over the globe, and we can make the voice of the choir so loud that we can drown out the propaganda of the ruling class,” he said.

Former Blue-State Gov. Confirms that Vote Fraud Is Rampant in Big Cities

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Illinois’s former Democrat Gov. Rod Blagojevich recently debunked the claims of current leftists, such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who have routinely denied the problem of vote fraud undermining U.S. election integrity.

“Voter fraud is commonplace, especially in big cities & especially without Voter ID,” he said in an X post on Thursday, contrasting his firsthand account with Newsom’s claim that “Voter fraud is extremely rare.”

Blagojevich — himself a product of Chicago’s machine politics — spent nearly eight years in federal prison over a “pay-to-play” venture to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama after he was elected president.

However, his 14-year sentence was commuted by President Donald trump in February 2020, followed by a full pardon in 2025.

After Blagojevich was removed from office in 2009, but before his 2011 conviction, the ex-governor got to know Trump while appearing as a contestant on season 3 of The Celebrity Apprentice, which Trump hosted.

However, there is no reason to believe that Blagojevich’s recent revelation signaled any shifting political allegiance, given the long-documented history of vote fraud in the Windy City and other leftist strongholds.

As the Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles noted in a recent video, a 1982 Illinois race resulted in 58 convictions of campaign workers and election officials.

“In Chicago alone, a grand jury found that 100,000 fraudulent votes had been cast,” Knowles said. “But Chicago had already been a central hub of Democrat election theft for decades.”

He cited additional scholarship indicating that Democrat John F. Kennedy likely stole the state from then-Vice President Richard Nixon in the 1960 presidential race.

On Thursday, Trump revealed in a prime-time speech that the White House was declassifying documents that showed hard evidence of Chinese election-meddling, as well as a de-facto coup by seditious members of the deep state to withhold key information about election vulnerabilities.

Although Trump used the announcement to reiterate calls for Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, he also has forged ahead on efforts to secure upcoming elections without the necessary legislative support.

Homeland Security Sec. Markwayne Mullin, after revealing that at least a quarter-million noncitizens were registered to vote in four blue or battleground states, announced that those who wished to receive federal funds to run elections would need to open their dirty voter rolls to additional scrutiny.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration got a boost, albeit a temporary one, from a legal victory after the D.C. Circuit court — widely known for harboring corrupt, activist, anti-Trump judges — allowed the U.S. Postal Service to proceed with new guidelines requiring states to submit voter lists and scannable bar codes for tracking mail-in ballots at the federal level.

Dr. Drew Suggests Lindsey Graham Died of Vaccine Injury

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Famed TV physician and pundit Drew Pinsky — aka Dr. Drew — offered his medical opinion that, if autopsy reports about Sen. Lindsey Graham’s cause of death were to be believed, Graham may have been the latest victim of a COVID vaccine injury.

During a podcast interview with COVID skeptic Naomi Wolf, Pinsky said cases of aortic dissections — as Graham reportedly died from on Saturday, July 11 — have ballooned since the pandemic, at least anecdotally.

“I’ve seen a dozen aortic dissections in the last four years,” Pinsky said.

“I’d seen two in my entire career before that,” he continued. “I don’t know if it’s COVID; I don’t know if it’s the vaccine, if its both — but I smell spike protein.”

Several scientific studies and reports likewise have linked the vaccines to potentially deadly side effects including myocarditis, a form of heart disease.

Graham, 71, was known to be a staunch early supporter of the vaccinations — putting him at odds with many of the conservatives and libertarians in the GOP base.

Critics argued that the experimental, gene-altering serums from Pfizer, Moderna and other pharmaceutical companies were too risky compared with the relatively mild impacts of the COVID-19 virus for those without specific comorbidities. They further noted that the vaccines did not prevent transmission to those who did have existing risk factors.

After being vaccinated with the Pfizer serum in December 2020, Graham credited it with helping to reduce his symptoms when he contracted the virus in August 2021.

“I feel like I have a sinus infection and, at present time, I have mild symptoms,” he said, according to NBC News.

“I am very glad I was vaccinated, because without vaccination I am certain I would not feel as well as I do now,” he added. “My symptoms would be far worse.”

In addition to the mounting evidence that the vaccines led to side effects worse than the disease, newly declassified material has continued to bolster theories that the Wuhan lab leak may be linked to a more sinister Chinese plot to meddle in global politics, with help from deep-state bureaucrats like ex-COVID czar Anthony Fauci.

As Dutch biotech researcher Simon Goddek noted in a recent X post, the first step in the mass-formation psychosis that took over during the pandemic was China’s release of dubious footage that showed spontaneous deaths — despite the lengthy incubation period virologists would later use to stoke further alarm about asymptomatic transmission.

“China released staged footage of people ‘dropping dead’ in the streets; scenes never witnessed anywhere else in the world before or after December 2019,” Goddek wrote.

He proceeded to outline a series of 18 steps used to ratchet up the panic and force mass submission to draconian mandates.

“Behavioral psychologists were brought in to design fear-based messaging specifically intended to secure public compliance,” Goddek said in step 5.

Perhaps eeriest of all was the final step: the systematic memory-holing of the entire yearslong scheme.

“Once the story became too strained to maintain, the pandemic was abruptly declared over, and the entire episode was treated as if it had never happened,” Goddek wrote.

As sinister as the COVID conspiracy may be, it is not the only concerning theory linked to Graham’s unexpected death.

Just two days prior, he had been in Ukraine calling for increased sanctions against the Russian government, as noted by conservative activist–journalist Laura Loomer.

“The Russians called for Lindsey Graham to be assassinated on their state media which is controlled by the Kremlin, and then the IRGC took credit for his death 2 hours after he was pronounced dead,” she said. 

The alleged hit also coincided with President Donald Trump’s escalation of military action against Iran, which Graham also staunchly supported, following weeks of stalemate in negotiation efforts. Iranians have openly called for a fatwah against Trump since his 2020 killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani and, more recently, of top officials including the rogue nation’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

As chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, Graham also held a significant amount of influence over efforts to pass the SAVE America Act, which would seek to close several election-integrity loopholes that radical U.S. leftists have fought tooth-and-nail to protect.

Tulsi Gabbard’s Brother Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Lure Kids into Hotel

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Former National Security Director Tulsi Gabbard’s brother was reportedly charged on Friday with trying to lure several children to his hotel room.

The alleged incident with Gabbard’s brother, 55-year-old Batari Gabbard, occurred on July 12, according to Island News in Hawaii.

“The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) said that at 2 p.m. on Sunday, the suspect approached several children, including a 9-year-old boy, at a pool area of a Waikiki hotel. He allegedly offered them gum and money to get them to join him in his hotel room,” Island News reported Sunday.

“The suspect reportedly asked the children for their names and wrote them in a notebook. The children refused and he walked away afterwards. A 42-year-old woman reported the incident to police.”

Batari Gabbard had reportedly already been arrested Thursday for a separate theft offense. He pled not guilty Friday morning and was released from custody, only to be released again for the alleged child-luring attempt. He now remains in custody for second-degree custodial interference, according to Island News. His family reportedly says he is mentally ill.

Tulsi Gabbard, a former member of Congress who represented Hawaii, stepped down as National Intelligence Director last month. She said she was leaving office because her husband has cancer.

Ex-FBI Official Faces Renewed Scrutiny Over ‘Shadow Government’ Claim

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A former FBI official is facing renewed scrutiny after allegedly acknowledging in 2020 that she ran a “shadow government” while working to prevent a tip about Chinese election interference from reaching then-President Donald Trump.

At the center of the controversy is Nikki Floris, a former member of the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force, who reportedly led efforts to retract an intelligence tip related to possible Chinese efforts to influence the 2020 presidential election.

Floris questioned the intelligence report and played a role in efforts to ensure it did not reach Trump’s President’s Daily Brief, even as the president was publicly raising concerns about election integrity, according to declassified documents first reported by Just the News and the Daily Caller.

Floris, who currently serves as Microsoft’s director of insider risk, did not respond to Headline USA’s request for comment or an interview.

In one message to a colleague, Floris seemed to express frustration over the intelligence report, writing, “Another f**king IIR went out re election security.” The intelligence tip indicated that China sought to influence the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden, according to the government files.

As another FBI official prepared to include the information in Trump’s daily intelligence briefing, Floris responded that the tip had “been retracted.”

“I am basically running a shadow government inside the FBI right now,” Floris reportedly wrote.

“Do what you have to do :)” another official wrote, as quoted by the Daily Caller.

Trump highlighted the episode during his primetime address on Thursday, blasting FBI officials for withholding information about alleged Chinese election interference.

“Another official inside the FBI wrote that she was running a ‘shadow government’ to keep intelligence about China’s election meddling from becoming known,” Trump said.

Floris previously came under congressional scrutiny in 2025 after Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley revealed allegations that FBI officials suppressed information related to China’s election meddling.

Grassley suggested that Floris’s actions may have been connected to efforts to shield then-FBI Director Christopher Wray from criticism after Wray dismissed concerns about foreign efforts to undermine the election through ballot meddling.

Trump cited the Floris documents as evidence that federal elections need stronger security protections, directly pointing to the SAVE Act.

Trump has since ordered the DOJ to criminally investigate the matter, though it is unclear whether Floris would be a target of the probe.

CBS Uses Chinese Propaganda to ‘Fact Check’ Trump

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) President Donald Trump’s primetime speech Thursday on election fraud offered smoking-gun details — long reported in conservative media outlets — that proved Democrats colluded with hostile foreign governments, including China, to secure the 2020 election for Democrat Joe Biden.

Newly declassified evidence showed that China not only pushed thousands of fake ballots and sought to create fake IDs to meddle in the election, but also paid journalists to censor crucial information, Trump said.

But rather than issue a mea culpa for the media’s complicity, notorious CBS News shill Margaret Brennan seemed to confirm the allegations by attempting to debunk Trump’s evidence with pure Chinese propaganda.

“China has all along adhered to the principle of non-interference in others’ internal affairs,” Brennan claimed, while reading a statement from the Chinese Embassy.

“The U.S. election is an internal matter of the U.S.,” it added. “Its outcome determined by the votes of the American people. China has never and will never interfere in the presidential elections of the U.S.”

Brennan then appeared to taunt Trump and his supporters by asking, “What are you going to do about it?”

Brennan has a long history of blatant anti-Trump bias. Ahead of her moderating the 2024 vice presidential debate, it was revealed that her husband, Ali “Yado” Yakub, had given money to the anti-Trump Lincoln Project.

However, Brennan was far from the only media figure pushing propaganda in a desperate bid to undermine Trump.

In fact, after rival networks ABC and NBC both refused to broadcast the speech at all, Trump and his allies called for them to have their broadcasting licenses revoked.

CBS aired a portion of the speech but quickly cut away from it.

In addition to airing China’s denial of the allegations, Brennan attempted a “fact check” on Trump’s statement that voting machines are vulnerable and easily compromised — and that government officials were aware of the issue and attempted to hide it from Trump himself ahead of the 2020 election.

Although Brennan said the claim “lacks evidence” — using a trope frequently deployed by left-wing media to conflate falsity with their own refusal to investigate — Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton quickly fact-checked her fact check by supplying the evidentiary context with a new Homeland Security report showing a cover-up from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Christopher Krebs, who was the head of CISA during the 2020 election, falsely claimed in its immediate aftermath that the election was the “the most secure in American history.”

After he was fired by Trump for his negligence and insubordination, Krebs quickly became an outspoken critic of the president.

Thom Tillis Slammed for Undermining Election Integrity over Trump Feud

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) RINO Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina faced a barrage of backlash from both his colleagues and constituents after declaring his abject refusal to support common-sense election integrity.

“It is beyond EMBARRASSING that ‘Republicans’ continue to block the SAVE America Act,” wrote Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala. calling out Tillis and his three fellow obstructionists by name.

“… The people of North Carolina, Alaska, Kentucky, and Maine deserve better,” he added.

On the heels of recent revelations that China had actively worked to meddle in U.S. elections, some North Carolina residents openly wondered if their senator was in cahoots with Xi Jinping.

Others, however, suspected that Tillis was throwing Americans under the bus to spite President Donald Trump, whose support for the senatorial campaign of former Republican National Committee chair Michael Whatley forced Tillis to abandon any hopes of reelection in the 2026 midterms.

Tillis declared last week that if the SAVE America Act came up for a vote, even if attached to a must-pass budget reconciliation bill, he would refuse to vote in its favor.

“If I see a reconciliation bill come from the House with another failed attempt to confuse this election, I will use every device I have available to slow down the wheels of government until people cop a clue and do the math,” Tillis said during a Thursday morning rant on the Senate floor, as reported by The Hill.

Applying circular logic, Tillis also claimed that the measure was a “bill of goods” because “We simply don’t have the votes.”

In fact, one recent round of voting showed that a pared-down version of the bill that focused only on the election-integrity opponents received 50 votes (with the addition of Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

Although the unexpected death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., meant the loss of one of the bill’s most influential advocates, it is expected that his sister Darline, who was appointed by Gov. Henry McMaster to replace him, would vote in line with his past positions.

The 50–50 split would allow Vice President JD Vance to be the tiebreaking vote, meaning that it could theoretically pass through budget reconciliation, although it would be nonbinding for states that could opt out of receiving whatever funds it was tied to.

Proponents of the bill argue that Vance also has the authority as president of the Senate to overrule the Senate parliamentarian, who has proven to be a roadblock in getting the SAVE America Act included in a reconciliation bill.

Another of the lawmakers obstructing the passage of the bill, Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, echoed Tillis’s refusal, calling the voter-identification measures “too draconian.”

But unlike the retiring Tillis, Murkowski could face political fallout if she opts to run again for her seat in 2028.

Conservative activist Scott Presler indicated that he would support primary challenges for the Republican Senate leaders who failed to rally the votes, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D. and James Lankford, R-Okla., who is vice chair of the Senate Republican Conference.

“If Senate Majority Leader Thune DOES not do his job to caucus his Republican majority to pass the SAVE America Act, he will have a Texas-sized primary in 2028,” Presler said, making reference to the recent defeat of RINO Sen. John Cornyn in his Texas primary.
