Police Officer Killed in Atlanta

(Headline USA) A man being questioned by police at a suburban Atlanta hotel on Sunday shot the two officers after inviting them into his room, killing one of them and seriously wounding the other, authorities said.

The shooting suspect also was shot by one of the officers and was undergoing medical treatment and expected to survive, Gwinnett County Police Chief J.D. McClure said during a news conference.

The shootout happened Sunday morning near Stone Mountain, about 25 miles northeast of Atlanta. The officers were dispatched to a hotel after a caller reported that a person staying there had used “fraud or a forgery” to rent a room, the police chief said.

He said the suspect greeted the officers at the door to his room and invited them inside.

“They began discussing the scenario or the incident with him,” McClure said. “And at some point the suspect produced a handgun and, in an unprovoked attack, fired at our Gwinnett County police officers.”

Officer Pradeep Tamang, 25, died from his injuries at a hospital, McClure said. A native of Nepal, Tamang had joined the police department last year.

Office David Reed was hospitalized in serious but stable condition Sunday afternoon, the police chief said.

“This is the latest reminder of the dangers law enforcement face on a daily basis, and we are grateful for every one that puts themselves in harm’s way to protect their fellow Georgians,” Gov. Brian Kemp said on the social media platform X.

McClure identified the shooting suspect as 35-year-old Kevin Andrews. It was not immediately known whether Andrews had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

The investigation was being turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which customarily handles shootings involving law enforcement officers in the state. McClure said it would be up to the GBI and local prosecutors to decide what charges to bring against Andrews.

Swalwell’s China Photo Rekindles Ties to Suspected Spy ‘Fang Fang’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A newly unearthed photo of Eric Swalwell with a senior Chinese diplomat has renewed scrutiny of the embattled Democrat lawmaker’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party. 

Reported Saturday by Fox News, the photo was posted by China’s San Francisco consulate in 2013, during the period when Swalwell was targeted by Chinese espionage. 

The image was liked by Christine Fang, the Chinese national also known as “Fang Fang,” who U.S. counterintelligence officials say targeted Swalwell on behalf of China’s Ministry of State Security. 

The photo shows Swalwell, then a freshman in Congress, with Song Ru’an, who at the time was the deputy consul general at the Chinese consulate in San Francisco. Its caption states that Swalwell had touted the “great potential” for collaboration between the U.S. and China, claiming the two “have a lot in common.” 

Swalwell stated, “I will work actively to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and I’m looking forward to visiting China in the near future.” 

Swalwell has faced damning questions about his relationship with Fang, which was central to a House Ethics Committee investigation.  

In 2020, he declined to say whether he had a sexual relationship with Fang, who Axios reported slept with two mayors as part of an intelligence campaign.  

He has also downplayed his ties, claiming he sought to protect classified information related to a federal investigation into Fang’s potential espionage. 

The newly unearthed photo emerges as Swalwell seeks the Democratic nomination for California governor, as incumbent Gavin Newsom reaches his term limit. 

Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton slammed Swalwell following the discovery of the photo. 

“These people never give up power voluntarily and they are always on the look-out for the ‘useful idiots’ and gullible stooges who they can target with their influence operations,” Hilton said of China. “Seems like they found the perfect mark in Eric Swalwell, and it’s somewhat alarming that the poor judgment is still being repeated, as we learned with the recent revelations about CCP-linked donations to his campaign.”

‘Detransitioner’ Wins $2 Million Medical-Malpractice Lawsuit 

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A 16-year-old girl from New York was awarded $2 million after a psychologist and a surgeon were found liable for medical malpractice for approving her breast removal surgery when she identified as transgender. 

The girl, Fox Varian, is known as a “detransitioner” — that is, someone who later reverses what the progressive left calls “gender-affirming” care, including hormone treatments and irreversible surgeries. 

According to The Epoch Times, the jury awarded Varian $1.6 million for past and future pain and suffering tied to the surgery, in addition to $400,000 for future medical expenses. Her attorney, Adam Deutsch, had sought $8 million in damages. 

As reported by the outlet, the jurors found that the surgeon, Dr. Simon Chin, and the psychologist, Dr. Kenneth Einhorn, failed to follow key steps in evaluating whether Varian should have been approved for the invasive procedure. 

Among the failures cited was a lack of proper communication between the two medical professionals, which jurors described as a “departure from the standard of care.” 

Varian told the jury that she “immediately” realized something was wrong after the surgery, according to The Epoch Times. She described experiencing nerve pain as “searing hot” and feeling “ripping sensations across my chest.” 

By contrast, attorneys for Chin and Einhorn argued that Varian only regretted the surgery years later. The surgery occurred in 2019, while Varian filed her lawsuit in 2023. 

The doctors, through their attorneys, claimed that Varian’s mother said she was “happy” with the results and that the girl continued to live as either male or non-binary in the years following the procedure. 

Einhorn’s attorney, Neil Kornfeld, cited an essay Varian wrote ten months after the surgery in which she stated: “It’s such an immense relief to wake up and not feel at odds with my body.” 

Varian countered that the essay reflected “cognitive dissonance,” saying she was attempting to put on a brave face while internally struggling, according to The Epoch Times. 

The case comes amid an intensifying national debate over transgender surgeries and hormone treatments for minors. 

Leftist activists claim that so-called gender-affirming care can be lifesaving, while critics warn that children are being rushed into irreversible procedures that they could later regret, as Varian’s case illustrates.

NJ Gov. to Launch Anti-ICE Portal Despite Federal Lawsuits Against Them

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Newly sworn-in New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced Thursday the launch of a portal designed to track federal immigration agents and ICE operations in the state, despite ongoing lawsuits filed by the Trump administration against similar tools. 

Sherrill, who took office on Jan. 20, promoted the portal during an interview on The Daily Show, claiming it would help her administration stay on the lookout for ICE activity. 

“If you see an ICE agent in the street, get your phone out, we want to know,” Sherrill said. “They have not been forthcoming. They will pick people up, they will not tell us who they are, they will not tell us if they’re here legally, they won’t check.” 

She added, “They’ll pick up American citizens. They picked up a 5-year-old child. We want documentation, and we are going to make sure we get there.” 

Sherrill spokesperson Sean Higgins said the administration will soon announce additional details about the controversial tool, according to the N

“Keeping New Jerseyans safe is Governor Sherrill’s top priority and, in the coming days, she and Acting Attorney General Davenport will announce additional actions to protect New Jerseyans from federal overreach,” Higgins claimed. 

Sherrill’s announcement comes just weeks after DHS dropped a summons against Meta seeking information about Montco Community Watch, a social media page that publishes videos and locations of ICE agents. 

DHS previously dropped a similar summons in 2025 after targeting LBProtest, an anonymous Instagram account used to promote anti-ICE protests.

Don Lemon Arrested Close to Midnight by ‘Bevy of Agents’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The DOJ arrested former CNN host-turned-YouTuber Don Lemon near midnight in Los Angeles, with his attorney claiming he was taken into custody by a “bevy of agents” as he prepared to attend the Grammys.

Lemon’s defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, made the comments during a Friday appearance on MS Now’s The Briefing with Jen Psaki, where he proclaimed without evidence that the timing and manner of the arrest were designed to intimidate.

“They wanted it to be terrifying. They wanted it to be intimidating. They wanted it to create fear,” Lowell told Psaki. “He’s going to Los Angeles to do his job, which is to cover, in this case, the Grammys this weekend.”

He added: “They wait until he’s in Los Angeles. That’s not enough. They waited until 11:30 at night, when he was coming back from doing what he does in the lobby of a hotel. And not one, not two, not three, but a bevy of agents surround him and take him away.”

The description of Lemon’s arrest makes it seem far less harrowing than what many Jan. 6 protestors experienced, with many of them facing predawn raids by FBI SWAT teams. One J6er infamously lost his unborn baby as a result.

Lemon was indicted by a federal grand jury on two felony charges related to his alleged role in a Jan. 18 riot inside a church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He is accused of conspiring to injure, oppress, threaten or intimidate individuals in the free exercise of their religious rights. He is also charged with violating the federal FACE Act.

Lemon has claimed he was acting as a journalist documenting the protest. However, video from his own livestream shows him embedded with agitators before they stormed and broke into the building.

Lowell also said Lemon initially believed he was being mugged “because he has been controversial, and he actually thought some crazy people on the right might be stalking him.”

Lowell alleged that the late-night timing ensured Lemon would be forced to spend the night in jail, although he provided no evidence to support this claim.

“They did it at 11:30 at night so they knew that he’d have to spend a night in jail for no reason whatsoever. But they did that on purpose,” Lowell stated, claiming the move was intentional because Lemon would not be able to appear before a judge until the following day.

Headline USA reached out to Lemon’s husband, Tim Malone, while Lemon remained in federal detention on Friday. Malone referred the outlet to Lemon’s publicist, who did not respond to questions about whether the DOJ could have arrested Lemon earlier or if there is any evidence supporting Lowell’s claims.

DC Mayor Bowser Seen Drinking While City Drowns in Snow 

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Outgoing D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser was spotted drinking at a bar Thursday while large portions of the nation’s capital remained blanketed in snow and ice days after a winter storm. 

Bowser enjoyed the drinks at the annual U.S. Conference of Mayors event as residents continued to struggle with icy sidewalks and poorly cleared streets. 

A Democrat, Bowser announced she will retire in January 2027, making this her final year in office. 

U.S. Conference of Mayors is a nonpartisan organization representing cities with a population of more than 30,000 constituents and includes more than 1,400 mayors. 

The Bowser administration has been under fire for slow and incomplete snow and ice removal following last weekend’s storm.

“Bowser’s decision to spend an evening this week drinking with fellow politicians as her city remains a sheet of ice is reminiscent the same political instincts she demonstrated over the summer, when she fled town to pick up her daughter in Martha’s Vineyard the same week President Donald Trump announced his federal takeover of the nation’s capital.” 

The storm dumped between 7.5 and nine inches of snow across the district, which the Boswer administration has claimed has been hard to tackle because of the unusual combination of ice and snow. 

“I’ve responded to a lot of snowstorms. This kind of combination of snow, I call it like ice-rain, cold — I’m not really sure that we have seen that combination like that,” Bowser claimed, as quoted by the leftist Washington Post. 

She added, “So I think some adjustments we made early on are paying off, especially moving to a scooping operation, which I know is going to make it a lot easier for people to walk and to get to the bus stops.” 

D.C. City Administrator Kevin Donahue also defended the response, saying the storm posed challenges for lighter snowplows. 

“Given the nature and complexity of this storm, our residents should have high expectations,” Donahue said. “We are doing everything around-the-clock to meet those expectations.”

From Elon Musk to Ex-Prince Andrew, a Who’s Who of Power Brokers are in the Epstein Files

(Headline USA) From tech titans to Wall Street power brokers and foreign dignitaries, a who’s who of powerful men make appearances in the huge trove of documents released Friday by the Justice Department in connection with its investigations of Jeffrey Epstein.

Many have denied having close ties to the late financier, or at least having anything to do with his alleged sexual abuse of girls and young women that led to his arrest on sex trafficking charges.

None have been charged with a crime connected to the investigation. Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019. Yet some of them maintained friendships with Epstein, or developed them anew, even after he became known as a predator of young girls and registered sex offender.

Here’s a primer on some of the notable names in the Epstein files:

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

The man formerly known as Britain’s Prince Andrew has long been dogged by questions about his relationship with Epstein, including allegations from the late Virginia Roberts Giuffre that she was trafficked by Epstein and instructed to have sex with Mountbatten-Windsor when she was 17.

The former prince has repeatedly denied that it happened, but his brother, King Charles III, still stripped him of his royal titles late last year, including the right to be called a prince and the Duke of York.

Mountbatten-Windsor’s name appears at least several hundred times in Friday’s document release, including in Epstein’s private emails.

Among the correspondence is an invitation for Epstein to dine at Buckingham Palace, Epstein’s offer to introduce Mountbatten-Windsor to a 26-year-old Russian woman, and photos that appear to show Mountbatten-Windsor kneeling over an unidentified woman lying on the floor.

Elon Musk

The billionaire Tesla founder turns up at least a few times in Friday’s document release, notably in email exchanges in 2012 and 2013 in which he discussed visiting Epstein’s infamous Caribbean island compound.

But it’s not immediately clear if the island visits took place. Spokespersons for Musk’s companies, Tesla and X, didn’t respond to emails seeking comment Friday or Saturday.

Musk has maintained that he repeatedly turned down the disgraced financier’s overtures. “Epstein tried to get me to go to his island and I REFUSED,” he posted on X in 2025.

Richard Branson

The billionaire founder of the Virgin Group, a global conglomerate, exchanged numerous emails with Epstein in the years after he pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from a minor and agreed to register as a sex offender in Florida in 2008.

In a 2013 exchange, Branson invited Epstein to his own private Caribbean island, which regularly hosts large conferences, charity events and business meetings.

“Any time you’re in the area would love to see you,” he wrote. “As long as you bring your harem!”

In another message that year, he suggested Epstein rehabilitate his image by convincing Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to tell the public how Epstein had “been a brilliant adviser to him” and had “more than learnt your lesson and have done nothing that’s against the law since.”

The company stressed in a statement Saturday that there was no wrongdoing on Branson’s part and that any dealings with Epstein were “limited to group or business settings” more than a decade ago.

Branson also declined a charitable donation and decided not to meet or speak with him again after his team “uncovered serious allegations,” the company said.

“Had they had the full picture and information, there would have been no contact whatsoever,” the statement reads. “Richard believes that Epstein’s actions were abhorrent and supports the right to justice for his many victims.”

Steven Tisch

The New York Giants co-owner is mentioned more than 400 times in the files released Friday. Correspondence between the two shows Epstein offered to connect Tisch to numerous women over the years.

In one 2013 email exchange with the subject line “Ukrainian girl,” Epstein encouraged Tisch to contact a particular woman, whose physical beauty he praised in crude terms.

“Pro or civilian?” Tisch asked in reply.

Tisch, a scion of a powerful New York family that founded the Loews Corporation, has acknowledged knowing Epstein but denied ever going to his infamous Caribbean island.

“We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy and investments,” said Tisch, who also won an Academy Award in 1994 for producing “Forrest Gump.” “As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.”

Casey Wasserman

The president of the committee for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles exchanged flirty emails with Epstein confidant Ghislaine Maxwell, Friday’s document release shows.

In a 2003 exchange, Wasserman wrote to Maxwell: “I think of you all the time. So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?”

In another, Maxwell asks whether it will be foggy enough during an upcoming visit “so that you can float naked down the beach and no one can see you unless they are close up?”

Wasserman released a statement Saturday saying he never had a personal or business relationship with Epstein and that he regretted the correspondence with Maxwell, which he said came “long before her horrific crimes came to light.”

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and abuse of minors.

Ehud Barak

The former Israeli prime minister and his wife turn up frequently in the documents released Friday, showing they stayed in regular contact with Epstein for years, including well after his 2008 guilty plea for sex crimes in Florida.

Among the correspondence are plans for a 2017 stay at Epstein’s New York residence. Other missives discuss mundane logistics for other visits, meetings and phone calls with Epstein.

Barak has acknowledged regularly visiting Epstein on his trips to New York and flying on his private plane, but maintains he never observed any inappropriate behavior or parties.

Barak served as Israel’s prime minister from 1999 to 2001 and later served as its defense minister.

Howard Lutnick

President Donald Trump’s commerce secretary visited Epstein’s private Caribbean island with his family on at least one occasion, records released Friday show.

That appears to contradict prior statements he’s made claiming he cut ties with the disgraced financier, who he’s called “gross,” decades ago.

But emails show Lutnick and his wife accepted an invitation to Little St. James in the U.S. Virgin Islands in December 2012 and planned to arrive by yacht with their children.

The former chairman of Newmark, a major commercial real estate firm, also had drinks on another occasion in 2011 with Epstein and corresponded with him about the construction of a building across the street from both of their homes.

The Commerce Department, in a statement, said Lutnick had “limited interactions with Mr. Epstein in the presence of his wife and has never been accused of wrongdoing.”

Sergey Brin

The billionaire Google co-founder made plans to meet with Epstein and Maxwell at his townhouse in New York years before he was publicly accused of sexually abusing underage girls, emails show.

In one exchange in 2003, Maxwell invited him to join her at a screening of the Renee Zellweger film “Down with Love” in New York.

She followed up a few weeks later to invite him to a “happily casual and relaxed” dinner at Epstein’s house. Brin offered to bring along Google’s then-CEO Eric Schmidt.

Spokespersons for Google didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment Saturday.

Steve Bannon

The one-time adviser to Trump exchanged hundreds of friendly texts with Epstein, some sent months before his 2019 arrest and jailhouse suicide.

The two discussed politics, travel and a documentary Bannon was said to be planning that would help salvage Epstein’s reputation.

One 2018 exchange, for example, focused on Trump’s threats at the time to oust Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. In a 2019 message, Bannon asked Epstein if he could supply his plane to pick him up in Rome.

Bannon hasn’t responded to emails seeking comment.

Miroslav Lajcak

A national security adviser to the Slovakian prime minister, Lajcak resigned Saturday after his past communications with Epstein appeared in Friday’s document release.

Opposition parties and a nationalist partner in Fico’s governing coalition had called for him to step down.

Lajcak, a former Slovak foreign minister and a onetime president of the U.N. General Assembly, has not been accused of any wrongdoing, but was photographed meeting with Epstein in the years between his initial release from jail and his subsequent indictment in 2019 on sex trafficking charges.

He said his correspondence with Epstein were part of his diplomatic duties.

Biden Ally Resigns After Forged Checks Exposed

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) An Oklahoma state representative resigned from office after pleading guilty to felony charges tied to forged checks submitted to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission, which had investigated her campaign finances. 

State Rep. Ayshia “Ajay” Pittman, a Democrat and ally of former President Joe Biden, entered guilty pleas to conspiracy to commit a felony, second-degree forgery and violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. 

The case stemmed from a long-running agreement dating back to 2020 and 2022, when Pittman was investigated for using campaign money to fund her personal life. 

Under that agreement, Pittman was required to repay $35,000 to her campaign over three years. She was obligated to pay $12,000 by May 31, 2025, and submit receipts to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission documenting the payments. 

According to the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office, Pittman submitted in January 2025 a receipt for a forged $2,500 cashier’s check purportedly issued by Sovereign Bank. 

As the commission grew suspicious, the bank confirmed it had never issued the check, prompting intervention by Republican Attorney General Gentner Drummond.  

Pittman entered a guilty plea shortly thereafter. She agreed to resign from office, pay full restitution for the misused campaign funds to a charitable organization and accept a seven-year deferred sentence. 

“Public officials hold a sacred trust with the people they serve,” Drummond said in a statement. “When that trust is violated for personal gain, it strikes at the very heart of our institutions. This office will continue to hold elected officials accountable when they abuse their positions and betray the public’s confidence. No one is above the law in Oklahoma.” 

Pittman was first elected to the state legislature in 2018, running for the same seat her mother, Anastasia Pittman, had represented from 2006 to 2014 before being forced out by term limits. Anastasia Pittman later represented a different district until 2018. 

During the 2020 presidential campaign, Biden’s campaign prominently touted Pittman’s endorsement in a national press release. 

At the time, Symone Sanders, then a senior adviser to Biden and now an MSNBC anchor, praised Pittman’s support. 

Sanders said, “Vice President Joe Biden has been able to build the type of broad and diverse coalition that we know is essential to beating Donald Trump — and that includes in Oklahoma, where young leaders of color like Representative Pittman are stepping up to put in the work and make sure that Joe Biden is our next president. We are excited to have Representative Pittman on Team Joe.”

Stephen Colbert: It’s Offensive to Nazis to Compare Them to ICE

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Comedian turned liberal commentator Stephen Colbert suggested it was unfair to compare ICE agents to Nazis because, he said, “the Nazis were willing to show their faces.” 

Colbert made the comment during Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show on CBS while responding to remarks from Border Patrol sector chief Greg Bovino about leftist vitriol toward federal agents. 

During the segment, Colbert played a clip of Bovino speaking with CNN host Dana Bash, in which the Border Patrol commander said critics were “trying to portray Border Patrol agents and ICE agents as Gestapo, Nazis, and many other words.”  

Colbert responded by saying, “Yes, do not compare ICE or Border Patrol agents to the Nazis. That’s an unfair comparison. The Nazis were willing to show their faces.”  

The comments drew widespread backlash on X.  

David Friedman, founder of the One Jewish State media platform, also rebuked Colbert, writing, “Shame on you. You are beneath contempt.”  

UnHerd editor Sohrab Ahmari condemned Colbert’s remarks as “Obscene. Ahistorical. Illiterate.” 

X user Eyal Yakoby shared a photo of human bones and skulls from a Nazi concentration camp in the 1940s to illustrate what he described as the moral depravity of Colbert’s comments. 

Colbert’s comments come as Democratic officials and leftist figures continue to liken President Donald Trump and federal immigration agents to Adolf Hitler and Nazis. 

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, for example, has referred to federal agents as “modern-day Gestapo.” 

The smears followed President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy immigration agents nationwide after his 2024 election win.

Dem LA Councilman To Stand Trial On Felony Corruption

(Mark E. Johnson, Contributor) Days after a Los Angeles non-profit executive was arrested on federal charges of embezzling $10 million in funds intended to help the homeless, an L.A. city council member has been ordered to stand trial on felony public corruption charges of his own. 

A state judge ruled that prosecutors have  sufficient evidence to proceed against Councilmember Curren Price, the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

Superior Court Judge Shelly Torrealba ordered Price, a Democrat, to be tried on twelve felony counts, including embezzlement, conflict of interest, and perjury.

“This is a significant step toward holding L.A. Councilmember Curren Price accountable for years of alleged corruption,” District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement. 

“Our Public Integrity Division has been prepared to go to trial since the charges were originally filed. The rules are clear: elected officials cannot enrich themselves at the expense of their constituents, cannot lie on disclosure forms and cannot vote on matters in which they have a conflict of interest,” he said.

Prosecutors allege the councilman voted on city projects that financially benefited his wife (corruption) and failed to disclose those conflicts on required state forms (perjury).

They also allege he directly pocketed $33,800 in city funds and used his position to direct more than $2 million in federal COVID-19 funds to a nonprofit organization where he was CEO.

Price has denied all charges against him. His arraignment is scheduled for March 13.

The city politician, who has held various public offices consecutively since 2006, was initially charged with five felony counts of embezzlement, two of conflict of interest, and three more of perjury.

The complaint was amended in August 2025 to add two more felony conflict of interest counts, based on his votes to award ​​more than $800,000 in city funds to Price’s wife.

The District Attorney’s Office said if convicted, Price faces the possibility sentencing of 11 years and four months, including up to nine years and four months in state prison and up to two years in county jail.

It’s unknown whether there is a direct connection between Price’s alleged crimes and the charges filed last week against Los Angeles non-profit director Alexander Soofer, who is alleged to have spent $10 million in homeless funding on his lavish personal lifestyle.
