GOP Sen. Claims Biden Can’t Be Impeached If Crimes Committed Pre-2020

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said President Joe Biden could not face impeachment over potential crimes committed before the 2020 presidential election.

In an interview with Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty on Friday, Mullin cautioned House Republicans that impeachment criteria are stringent. He emphasized that any impeachable acts must occur during Biden’s tenure as U.S. president.

“The one thing that the Republican senators have told the House is, ‘Give us an airtight case,’ because we don’t want to play politics with impeachment a president like Democrats did with [former President Donald] Trump,” Mullin stated. He added a warning that any potential impeachment of Biden must be taken seriously.

Mullin added, “If they send us a case, make sure it’s convictable and the bar is really high, there’s no question about it: It’s gotta be a misdemeanor, high crime or treason. And the other part has to be committed while he was in office, the current office he holds. So, what he did as vice president and what he did in between the two may not be impeachable.”

Finnerty responded to Mullin’s remarks by asking whether the Senate should prioritize other policy matters over discussing potential impeachment, especially during an election year.

“This could backfire on Republicans,” Finnerty told Mullin, to which the senator replied, “If the president of the United States used his office to benefit him to gain favor in other countries while they’re paying him, that could lead to treason.”

Responding to Mullin’s allegations, Finnerty questioned whether Democratic senators had any “appetite” for impeachment, especially during an election year.

Mullin cautioned that some moderate senators had indicated that if House Republicans identified impeachable offenses, they would consider the evidence fairly.

“When you talk to some moderate leaning senators, they would tell you that if the House sends us an airtight case that completely, easily points to the president breaking the law in treasons or misdemeanor or high crimes, that they would try it just like they would any other case and go into without a partisan look,” Mullin claimed.

Finnerty persisted with his question, inquiring whether any senator had assured Mullin they would fairly consider the impeachment case. Mullin responded affirmatively.

The remarks from the Oklahoma senator follow House Republicans’ vote to formally launch an impeachment inquiry into Biden over allegations involving his family’s contentious business dealings.

Biden has consistently dismissed these accusations, falsely asserting that congressional investigators have found no evidence linking him to these businesses.

Rapinoe: Playing for U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Was Worst Job in the World

(Headline USA) Serial complainer Megan Rapinoe groused this week that playing for the elite U.S. Women’s Soccer team was the “worst job in the world” due to the significant criticism she faced.

In a new Netflix documentary series titled, Under Pressure: The U.S. Women’s World Cup Team, Rapinoe said that the expectations to perform well were often too much to handle.

“I always say it’s the worst job in the world because if you do your job, then you were supposed to, and if you do one hair less, then you are gonna get lambasted for it,” Rapinoe said.

The series was filmed before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which the U.S. lost, despite winning the previous two World Cups.

The loss was due to Rapinoe missing a crucial penalty kick against Sweden.

In the documentary, Rapinoe said she expected the World Cup to be “very special.”

“I think it’s just such a different feeling knowing that this is going to be my last World Cup, being kind of an old head and having a different role on the team,” Rapinoe explained. “It means a lot to me in a lot of different ways than the other ones did.”

Rapinoe retired from the sport last month, playing her final professional match in November and tearing her Achilles tendon six minutes into the game. After the injury, Rapinoe complained it was proof that “God doesn’t exist.”

The avowed leftist has come under fire throughout her career for taking controversial political stances, leading many proud Americans to actively root against her.

She famously knelt during the national anthem in 2016 and then pressured her teammates to do the same, accusing them of not being supportive of black Americans if they refused.

She was also heavily involved in the U.S. Women’s Soccer team’s push for “equal pay” with the U.S. Men’s Soccer team.

Hunter Biden Reportedly ‘Terrified’ about What Happens if Trump Wins

(Headline USA) Hunter Biden is reportedly “terrified” of former President Donald Trump winning the 2024 election, telling those close to him that he might have to leave the country.

The first son is the focus of a congressional investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings, which culminated in a formal impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden this week.

He is already facing multiple charges for tax fraud and illegally purchasing a firearm, but realizes he could face additional scrutiny if Republicans gain more control in Washington.

“Hunter Biden knows he is in the political crosshairs,” Politico’s Jonathan Lemire reported. “In recent conversations with family friends, he has worried that he might have to flee the country if Trump were to be elected president again, according to two people who have spoken to him.”

Hunter Biden is also worried “about the intense scrutiny that his family would face during the 2024 campaign,” Lemire added.

The younger Biden went on a public offensive against House Republicans this week, accusing them of using his “struggle with addiction” to hurt his father’s reelection bid.

They are “trying to kill me, knowing that it will be a pain greater than my father could be able to handle—and so therefore destroying a presidency in that way,” Hunter alleged.

Joe Biden’s allies are also reportedly worried about the toll the investigations into Hunter are taking on the 81-year-old president.

“I know when he hurts. He doesn’t talk about it much, most of us don’t,” former Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., said of the elder Biden. “He has a real human decency, and a lot of it is created by scarring. And he’s worried.”

Joe Biden has even expressed concern that Hunter will backslide into addiction, Politico said.

“You can see it in his eyes, and you can see his shoulders slump,” one Biden confidant of the president in describing a recent conversation. “He’s so worried about Hunter. And we’re worried it could consume him.”

There are indications already that Hunter may not be entirely clean. In July, a bag of cocaine was discovered at the White House, although the original location has been a point of mystery with Secret Service refusing to give a straight answer while leading an apparent cover-up.

Hunter, after leaving a posh Malibu mansion near his rehab facility, was in permanent residence at the time of the discovery.

Not long after, he was seen appearing to do a bump from his palm while observing fireworks with family members from one of the White House balconies.

Hunter was also seen in the presence of a bong-smoking lawyer on a balcony in California later that month.

Newsom Snubbed Chinese Dissident While Rolling Out Red Carpet for Xi

(Headline USA) California Gov. Gavin Newsom reportedly refused to meet with a Chinese dissident before or after his October trip to China, where he met with Chinese Communist Party officials, including President Xi Jinping.

Anna Kwok, a Hong Kong activist who has been publicly outspoken against China’s takeover of the former U.K. province, told the bipartisan House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party this week that she sought several meetings with Newsom to share her concerns about China’s human rights abuses.

However, Newsom’s team declined each of her requests, saying the governor was “too busy for us,” Kwok said.

Kwok also highlighted the brutal assaults on Chinese dissidents by pro-CCP supporters in California during last month’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in San Francisco. More than 10 anti-China protesters were beaten by counter-protesters, with three ending up hospitalized for serious injuries.

Local law enforcement, however, refused to act, Kwok said, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

“That is just one of the things, you know, that the Chinese government is not afraid of doing on American soil exactly, because they know these perpetrators likely do not really have to pay a price,” she told lawmakers. “They will not be hunted down because law enforcement is basically not equipped enough to do that.”

Newsom has faced backlash for his handling of the APEC meeting, which both Xi and President Joe Biden attended. He admitted the conference was the only reason California officials decided to clean up San Francisco’s streets, saying he had to “raise the bar” for Xi’s visit.

“I know folks are saying, ‘Oh they’re just cleaning up this place because all those fancy leaders are coming to town.’ That’s true, because it’s true,” Newsom said at the time.

“It’s also true for months and months and months before APEC,” he continued. “We’ve been having different conversations and we’ve raised the bar of expectation between the city, the county, and the state and our federal partners.”

The APEC meeting followed a personal trip Newsom made to China, where he reportedly declined to bring up concerns about China’s human rights abuses during his meeting with CCP officials.

Giuliani Told to Pay $148M to Ga. Poll Workers Caught Scanning Ballots After Hours

0

(Headline USA) A jury awarded $148 million in damages on Friday to two former Fulton County election workers who sued Rudy Giuliani for defamation after video appeared to show them surreptitiously scanning ballots after hours at the State Farm Arena during Georgia’s highly disputed 2020 election.

Although the case for defamation was highly dubious on several grounds—including the fact that no claims made by Giuliani were ever proven demonstrably false, with strong evidence remaining that fraud did indeed transpire in Fulton County’s election—the deck was stacked against the former New York mayor and Trump personal attorney from the start.

Ethically challenged, Obama-appointed judge Beryl Howell predetermined Giuliani’s guilt, meaning the purpose of the trial was merely to establish how much he owed the two women. As with many Washington, D.C., cases, the jury pool undoubtedly skewed heavily leftward also.

Lawyers had asked for at least $24 million for Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman in defamation damages alone. They also sought compensation for their emotional harm and punitive damages.

On the witness stand, Moss and Freeman described fearing for their lives as hateful messages poured in. Moss told jurors she tried to change her appearance, seldom leaves her home and suffers from panic attacks.

Her mother described strangers banging on her door and recounted fleeing her home after people came with bullhorns and the FBI told her she wasn’t safe.

“It’s so scary, anytime I go somewhere, if I have to use my name,” Freeman said, gasping through her tears to get her words out. “I miss my old neighborhood because I was me, I could introduce myself. Now I don’t have a name, really.”

There was an audible gasp in the courtroom when the jury foreperson read aloud the $75 million award in punitive damages. Moss and Freeman were each awarded another roughly $36 million in other damages.

“Money will never solve all my problems,” Freeman told reporters outside Washington’s federal courthouse after the verdict. “I can never move back into the house that I call home. I will always have to be careful about where I go and who I choose to share my name with. I miss my home. I miss my neighbors and I miss my name.”

An FBI report noted that Freeman’s name had been used prior to any comment from Giuliani as part of a fake social media account appearing to alert the public to the likelihood of malfeasance.

The apparent ballot-scanning took place late on Nov. 3, 2020, after election officials had sent home poll watchers, media and others, while claiming there was a water-main leak. It later turned out to be an overflowing toilet.

Security cameras showed Freeman pulling suitcases containing ballots that appeared to have been concealed underneath a table after the ballots were supposed to have been secured, and scanning each one multiple times.

Giuliani didn’t appear to show any emotion on Friday  as the verdict was read, following about 10 hours of deliberations. Moss and Freeman hugged their attorneys after the jury left the courtroom and didn’t look at Giuliani as he left with his lawyer.

Giuliani vowed to appeal. The “absurdity of the number merely underscores the absurdity of the entire proceeding,” he told reporters.

“It will be reversed so quickly it will make your head spin, and the absurd number that just came in will help that actually,” he added.

Giuliani’s lawyer acknowledged that his client was wrong but insisted that Giuliani was not fully responsible for the vitriol the women faced. The defense sought to largely pin the blame on the Gateway Pundit, a conservative website that published the surveillance video of the two women counting ballots.

Giuliani’s defense rested Thursday morning without calling a single witness after the former mayor reversed course and decided not to take the stand.

Giuliani’s lawyer had told jurors in his opening statement that they would hear from his client. But after Giuliani’s comments outside court, the corrupt judge barred him from claiming in testimony that his allegations were right.

The judgment adds to growing financial and legal peril for Giuliani, who had already been showing signs of financial strain as he defends himself against costly lawsuits and investigations stemming from his representation of Trump.

His lawyer suggested that the defamation case could financially ruin the former mayor, saying “it would be the end of Mr. Giuliani.”

And Giuliani is still facing his biggest test yet: fighting criminal charges in the Georgia case accusing Trump and 18 others of working to subvert the results of the 2020 election. Giuliani has pleaded not guilty and characterized the case as politically motivated.

Defense attorney Joseph Sibley told jurors they should compensate the women for what they are owed, but he urged them to “remember this is a great man.”

An attorney for Moss and Freeman, in his closing argument, highlighted how Giuliani has not stopped asserting the workers interfered in the November 2020 presidential election. Attorney Michael Gottlieb played a video of Giuliani outside the courthouse on Monday, in which Giuliani said the women were “engaged in changing votes.”

“Mr. Giuliani has shown over and over again he will not take our client’s names out of his mouth,” Gottlieb said. “Facts will not stop him. He says he isn’t sorry and he’s telegraphing he will do this again. Believe him.”

Howell had already ordered Giuliani and his business entities to pay tens of thousands of dollars in attorneys’ fees. In holding Giuliani liable, the judge ruled that the former mayor gave “only lip service” to complying with his legal obligations while trying to portray himself as the victim in the case.

Howell herself faced an ethics complaint filed Friday by Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., who noted that at a gala event last month, she had given a speech making inappropriate partisan comments.

Veteran Charged for Beheading Iowa Capitol’s Baphomet Display Raises $40K in Support

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Former Navy pilot Michael Cassidy, 35, surrendered himself to police Thursday after destroying a much maligned Satanic display in the Iowa State Capitol building.

Cassidy confirmed in a text message after his arrest that he had torn down the statue of the pagan god Baphomet, decapitated it and disposed of the head in a trash can, according to Fox News Digital.

“The world may tell Christians to submissively accept the legitimization of Satan, but none of the founders would have considered government sanction of Satanic altars inside Capitol buildings as protected by the First Amendment,” he said in a statement to the Republic Sentinel.

The Satanic Temple of Iowa announced their intent to press charges of 4th-degree criminal mischief against Cassidy.

In a Facebook post they announced that the statue was “beyond repair.”

Cassidy responded to the charges with a Bible verse from 1 Peter in a post on Twitter.

“1 Peter 5:8 KJV: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

A GiveSendGo campaign launched by attorney R. Davis Younts on behalf of Cassidy to cover his legal expenses said it had raised its initial target of $20,000 in less than three hours.

At press time Friday, it had reached more than $40,000 from more than 860 donors.

An update said Cassidy had been notified of an additional investigation against him and that “his attorneys will challenge the investigation and now anticipate much higher expenses,” but that it was “not yet appropriate to reveal details of the investigation.”

It said that any surplus funds raised would “be forwarded at the discretion of Cassidy to a nonprofit that helps Christian service members in similar situations.”

In addition to showing financial support, many also took to social media to express their gratitude.

Fellow Twitter users thanked Cassidy profusely for taking the statue down, as many Iowa lawmakers refused to act against the Satanic display.

Iowa’s Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds condemned the display’s presence in the capitol building, but refused to take any direct action against it.

“Like many Iowans, I find the Satanic Temple’s display in the Capitol absolutely objectionable,” Reynolds said.

“In a free society, the best response to objectionable speech is more speech, and I encourage all those of faith to join me today in praying over the Capitol and recognizing the Nativity scene that will be on display―the true reason for the season,” she added.

State Rep. Jon Dunwell defended the display, despite his Christian faith.

Cassidy previously served as a pilot for the U.S. Navy. He is currently a Naval flight instructor and is in the Naval reserves.

He also ran an unsuccessful primary challenge against House Republican Michael Guest for Mississippi’s 3rd Congressional District.

Democratic Staffer Filmed Gay Porn in Senate Office Building

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Some might call it the latest sign that the U.S. government is a collapsing empire—though compared to the civil liberties abuses, endless wars and theft of taxpayer funds, others might argue that it’s not the most vulgar event to transpire on Capitol Hill.

In any event, the Daily Caller lit the internet ablaze late Friday afternoon, when it published an exclusive report about a Senate staffer being caught filming gay porn in a Senate hearing room. And for better or worse, the Caller has the evidence to prove its report.

“The alleged staffer can also be seen in a photo, naked on all fours, looking back at the camera on the table where Senators often sit to ask questions during a hearing. It appears to be unprotected sex,” the publication said.

“A source identified the room to the Daily Caller as Senate room SD-G50. The Caller blurred out his face because his identity has not been confirmed.”

Videos of the scene are included in the Daily Caller’s article. Headline USA has not reviewed them. Daring readers can do so by clicking this link. However, videos are already spreading like wildfire on Twitter and elsewhere.

According to conservative personality Lauren Loomer, the staffer works for Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md.

Another conservative influencer, Greg Price, reported that the staffer in question is allegedly Aidan Maese-Czeropski.

The Spectator also reported that it received photos and videos of the incident.

“One pic in particular … was taken in what certainly appears to be a conference room in the Hart Senate Office Building, where his boss’s office is located,” the publication reported.

“In the photo, the strapping young gentleman is naked but for a jock strap, on on all fours, facing away from the camera. A cartoon of the Capitol Dome tastefully covers the extremities of his rear end — best to be tasteful after all.”

Stefanik Files Ethics Complaint over Biased D.C. Judge’s Political Speech

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., filed an ethics complaint arguing that a federal judge in the Washington D.C. District Court who has overseen many Jan. 6 cases—and some involving former President Donald Trump and his allies—engaged in judicial misconduct.

According to Stefanik, Judge Beryl Howell, an Obama appointee, delivered a “highly inappropriate” political speech at a gala last month, NBC News reported.

Stefanik submitted her complaint to D.C. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan, noting that on Nov. 27, Howell delivered remarks while accepting an award at the Women’s White Collar Defense Association gala.

“My D.C. judicial colleagues and I regularly see the impact of big lies at the sentencing of hundreds, hundreds of individuals who have been convicted for offense conduct on Jan. 6, 2021, when they disrupted the certification of the 2020 presidential election at the U.S. Capitol,” Howell said while accepting the award.

Howell also suggested that Americans are enduring a “surprising and downright troubling moment” in history, due to the dismissal of “the importance of facts,” which hold an essential place in “democracy.”

“As district court judges, we are all about the facts,” she claimed, alluding to Trump and other Republicans without saying their names specifically.

According to Stefanik, such remarks were “plainly inappropriate, consisting of partisan statements, election interference, and improper extrajudicial statements while criminal cases are pending.”

She also suggested that Howell, an Obama-appointee, stoked hysteria about the status of former President Donald Trump when she cited a recently-published book, Democracy Awakening, by Heather Cox Richardson.

According to Richardson, the U.S. is “at a crossroads, teetering on the brink of authoritarianism” as embodied by Trump.

With little else to campaign on, many other Democratic media outlets, pundits and politicians have since gone on to deliver similar talking points, despite the alarming implications of their rhetorical brinksmanship.

As such, Stefanik noted, Howell essentially used the awards ceremony to deliver a pro-Democrat stump speech, meant to promote “the Democrat political campaign theme that the re-election of Donald Trump equates to America choosing authoritarianism” and eventually “fascism in America,” while hiding behind thinly coded dogwhistles.

“I filed a judicial misconduct complaint against Judge Howell, because election interference by judges destroys public confidence in the federal judiciary, tears apart the fabric of our Republic, and is illegal,” Stefanik said. “It must end now.”

Howell is currently overseeing several Jan. 6 cases, as well as a high-profile defamation lawsuit against former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

The suit was brought by Fulton County election official Ruby Freeman and her daughter, who were caught suspiciously scanning ballots at the State Farm Arena during the 2020 election after having sent poll watchers and media home for the night due to a leaky toilet.

Despite the fact that they already were public figures when Giuliani called the case to national attention and the fact that his allegations against them have never been proven demonstrably false, Howell issued a unilateral pre-trial ruling of guilt against Giuliani. The trial is now to determine how much compensation he owes them in the lawsuit.

On Friday, a jury awarded a staggering $148 million in damages.

Republicans Introduce Plan to Verify U.S. Citizenship on Mail-In Ballots

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Remarkably, the Left has turned the voting debate from controversy over mass-scale mail-in ballots to whether or not illegal immigrants and foreign citizens should be permitted to vote.

Just last week, for instance, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., claimed that New York City officials may be attempting to register illegal immigrants to vote by contracting with non-governmental organizations.

Fortunately, Republicans in the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration have introduced a plan to force states to verify the citizenship of mail-in voter applicants, Breitbart reported.

Led by Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., Republicans on the committee introduced the Citizen Ballot Protection Act, a bill that would give the states the prerogative to more closely monitor who is registering to vote.

Specifically, the bill would amend the so-called National Voting Rights Act so that it would allow states to require proof of American citizenship in order to vote in America.

According to Britt, the legislation is much needed because blue states, counties and cities have opened up the polls to foreigners.

Inevitably, the combination of allowing them to vote in municipal elections, granting them valid drivers licenses, automatically registering voters and mailing ballots will create the perfect storm of confusion.

Such leftist policies all but beg ineligible noncitizens to violate federal law by casting their ballots in national elections, with few to no election-integrity safeguards in place to prevent them—or catch them after the fact.

As a result, the votes of legal citizens, regardless of their political persuasion, are diminished, as is the public’s trust in the institution of democracy, triggering a cascade of polarization and tribalism.

“Voting in our country is a sacred right that must solely be limited to American citizens,” Britt said. “To allow states to uphold this principle should be simple commonsense.”

Britt also made the point that states are harming “local elections” with their policy of “disenfranchising hardworking American citizens.”

For the Alabama senator, it makes little sense to allow foreigners to vote in one’s own national, state and local elections.

“It should not be controversial that states have the legal right to prevent noncitizens—including illegal migrants and official representatives of foreign adversaries—from voting in state and federal elections,” Britt noted.

Britt’s bill, which cuts against the Left’s voting agenda, is cosponsored by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.; Sen. Ted Cruz, R.-Texas; and Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., among others.

Top Russiagate Investigator Given 50 Months Imprisonment for Ties to Russian Oligarch

(The Center Square) A former top FBI agent was sentenced to more than four years in prison on Thursday for helping a Russian oligarch avoid U.S. sanctions.

Charles McGonigal, 55, the former Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Counterintelligence Division in New York was sentenced to 50 months in prison. He was also ordered to pay a $40,000 fine for conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and to launder money in connection with his 2021 deal to provide services to sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.

He had faced up to five years in prison. McGonigal’s defense had asked for no prison time.

McGonigal, 55, of New York, pleaded guilty in August.

“Charles McGonigal helped advance the interests of a sanctioned Russian oligarch, breaking his oath to safeguard our nation and uphold its laws,” Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen of the Justice Department’s National Security Division said in a statement. “Today’s sentence holds him accountable for this betrayal and demonstrates this department’s commitment to deny designated individuals the means to circumvent U.S. sanctions.”

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned Deripaska in 2018 was sanctioned for having worked on behalf of a senior official of the Government of the Russian Federation and for operating in the energy sector of the Russian Federation economy.

During his time at the FBI, McGonigal helped investigate Deripaska and other Russian oligarchs. As a Special Agent in Charge, he oversaw investigations into sanctions violations.

Perhaps most notoriously, McGonigal was involved in the Russiagate investigation.

“He was one of the first officials to learn that a Trump campaign official had bragged that the Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton, sparking the investigation known as Operation Crossfire Hurricane,” Business Insider reported in September 2022.

“Later that year, FBI Director James Comey promoted McGonigal to oversee counterintelligence operations in New York.”

Prosecutors alleged that at the same time, he began building a relationship with an agent of Deripaska, in the hopes of doing business with Deripaska after he retired from the FBI.

In 2021, McGonigal agreed to provide services to Deripaska, in violation of U.S. sanctions. After negotiations with Deripaska’s agent, McGonigal investigated a rival Russian oligarch in return for secret payments from Deripaska. While helping Deripaska, McGonigal and the agent attempted to hide Deripaska’s involvement by using shell companies, forged signatures on contracts, and using the same shell companies to send and receive payment from Deripaska.

FBI agents from the same division McGonigal used to lead caught him, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

“Charles McGonigal violated the trust his country placed in him by using his high-level position at the FBI to prepare for his future in business,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams for the Southern District of New York said in a statement.

“Once he left public service, he jeopardized our national security by providing services to Oleg Deripaska, a Russian tycoon who acts as Vladimir Putin’s agent. Today’s sentence is a reminder that anyone who violates United States sanctions – particularly those in whom this country has placed its trust – will pay a heavy penalty.”
