At Least 8 Children Among 22 Shot at Chiefs’ Super Bowl Parade; 1 Person Killed

0

(Headline USA) Eight children were among 22 people hit by gunfire in a shooting at the end of Wednesday’s parade to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, authorities said.

One person was killed, a mother of two identified by her radio station as a DJ.

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves detailed the shooting’s toll at a news conference and said three people had been taken into custody. She said she has heard that fans may have been involved in apprehending a suspect but couldn’t immediately confirm that.

“I’m angry at what happened today,” Graves said. “The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment.”

Police did not immediately release any details about the people taken into custody or about a possible motive for the shootings. She said firearms had been recovered, but not what kind of weapons were used.

“All of that is being actively investigated,” she said.

Photos and videos online appeared to show a heavyset male suspect, bald, with a tan or light brown skin tone being led away in handcuffs.

It was the latest sports celebration in the U.S. to be marred by gun violence, following a shooting that injured several people last year in downtown Denver after the Nuggets’ NBA championship, and gunfire last year at a parking lot near the Texas Rangers’ World Series championship parade.

Social-media users posted shocking video of police running through a crowded scene as people hurriedly scrambled for cover and fled.

One video showed someone apparently performing chest compressions on a shooting victim as another person, seemingly writhing in pain, lay on the ground nearby. People screamed in the background.

Another video showed two people chase and tackle a person, holding them down until two police officers arrived.

Radio station KKFI said in a Facebook post Wednesday evening that Lisa Lopez–Galvan, host of “Taste of Tejano,” was killed in the shooting.

“This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community,” KKFI said in a statement.

Lopez-Galvan, whose DJ name was “Lisa G,” was an extrovert and devoted mother from a prominent Latino family in the area, said Rosa Izurieta and Martha Ramirez, two childhood friends who worked with her at a staffing company.

Izurieta said Lopez–Galvan had attended the parade with her husband and her adult son, a die-hard Kansas City sports fan who also was shot.

“She’s the type of person who would jump in front of a bullet for anybody — that would be Lisa,” Izurieta said.

The shooting outside Union Station happened despite more than 800 police officers who were in the building and around the area, including on top of nearby buildings, said Mayor Quinton Lucas, who attended with his wife and mother and had to run for cover when gunfire broke out.

“I think that’s something that all of us who are parents, who are just regular people living each day, have to decide what we wish to do about,” Lucas said. “Parades, rallies, schools, movies. It seems like almost nothing is safe.”

Kansas City has long struggled with gun violence, and in 2020 it was among nine cities targeted by the U.S. Justice Department in an effort to crack down on violent crime. In 2023 the city matched a record with 182 homicides.

Lisa Money, a resident of the city, was trying to gather some confetti near the end of the parade when she heard somebody yell, “Down, down, everybody down!”

At first, Money thought somebody might be joking until she saw the SWAT team jumping over the fence.

“I can’t believe it really happened. Who in their right mind would do something like this? This is supposed to be a day of celebration for everybody in the city and the surrounding area, and then you’ve got some idiot that wants to come along and do something like this,” she said.

Kevin Sanders, 53, of Lenexa, Kansas, said he heard what sounded like firecrackers and then people started running. After that initial flurry, calm returned, and he didn’t think much of it. But 10 minutes later, ambulances started showing up.

“It sucks that someone had to ruin the celebration, but we are in a big city,” Sanders said.

University Health spokeswoman Nancy Lewis said the hospital was treating eight gunshot victims. Two were in critical condition, and six were in stable condition, she said. The hospital also was treating four people for other injuries resulting from the chaos after the shooting, Lewis said.

Lisa Augustine, spokesperson for Children’s Mercy Kansas City, said the hospital was treating 12 patients from the rally, including 11 children, some of whom suffered gunshot wounds.

St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City received one gunshot patient in critical condition and three walk-ins with injuries that were not life-threatening, spokesperson Laurel Gifford said.

“When you have this many casualties, it’s going to get spread out among a lot of hospitals so that you don’t overwhelm any single ER,” said Jill Jensen Chadwick, news director for University of Kansas Health System, which received at least one person injured in the shooting.

Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said that he was with coach Andy Reid and other coaches and staff members at the time of the shooting, and that the team was on buses and returning to Arrowhead Stadium.

“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally,” the team said in a statement.

Missouri’s Republican Gov. Mike Parson and first lady Teresa Parson were at the parade during the gunfire but were unhurt. “Thanks to the professionalism of our security officers and first responders, Teresa and I and our staff are safe and secure,” Parson said in a statement.

Areas that had been filled with crowds were empty after the shooting, with police and firefighters standing and talking behind an area restricted by yellow tape.

Throngs had lined the route earlier, with fans climbing trees and street poles or standing on rooftops for a better view. Players rolled through the crowd on double-decker buses, as DJs and drummers heralded their arrival. Owner Clark Hunt was on one of the buses, holding the Lombardi Trophy.

The city and the team each chipped in around $1 million for the event commemorating Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs becoming the first team since Tom Brady and the New England Patriots two decades ago to defend their title.

Bobulinski Tells House Investigators that Biden ‘Enabled’ Family Business

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Tony Bobulinski, a former Biden-family business associate and confidante turned whistleblower, told House investigators that President Joe Biden “enabled” his family to enrich themselves from his political career, Fox News reported.

Bobulinski previously worked with Hunter Biden to start SinoHawk Holdings, a group partnering with CCP-linked energy company CEFC.

During his testimony Tuesday before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees as part of their Biden impeachment inquiry, he also confirmed for the official record that Joe Biden was the “Big Guy” alluded to in now notorious emails from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop.

In his opening statement, Bobulinski told investigators that he has spent four years trying in vain to tell the American people the truth about “serious corruption at the very top of their government.”

But, instead of being heralded as a teller of the truth, Bobulinski has been dragged through the muck by the “mainstream media.”

Still, he continued to argue that the Biden family racket has always been made possible by Joe Biden’s political career.

According to the whistleblower, “it is clear to me that Joe Biden was ‘the Brand’ being sold by the Biden family.”

Biden’s foreign influence was taken advantage of, particularly his relations to both China and Ukraine.

Bobulinski accused the family of selling out to “foreign actors” who were “seeking to gain influence and access to Joe Biden and the United States government.”

Ultimately, Bobulinski concluded that Biden was not a mere victim of opportunistic family members, as some have argued; rather, he was an “enabler.”

“Joe Biden was more than a participant in and beneficiary of his family’s business; he was an enabler, despite being buffered by a complex scheme to maintain plausible deniability,” he said.

In order to demonstrate the truth of his claims, he cited personal conversations that he had with Joe Biden about CEFC in 2017.

According to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., Bobulinski was “unshakeable in his testimony today, providing facts Democrats didn’t want to hear.”

Naturally, this led to the Democrats putting on a “shameful display: wherein they “yelled at Mr. Bobulinski, cut him off, belittled him, and threatened him,” Comer added.

The top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., insisted that Bobulinski offered “absolutely no testimony that indicates any criminal activity by President Biden … or evidence that President Biden was involved in Hunter Biden’s businesses.”

Dem. Rep. Wants $50 Minimum Wage in California as Consumers Pay Toll

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) At a Monday night debate in California, candidates for the United States Senate vied for the support of voters.

One candidate in particular, Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., floated the idea of raising the state’s minimum wage to $50 per hour, Fox News reported.

According to Lee, such a move is justified because California is an expensive place to live—despite the fact that the increase would likely be passed on to consumers, making it even more expensive.

“In the Bay Area, I believe it was the United Way that came out with a report that very recently $127,000 for a family of four is just barely enough to get by,” Lee said, noting that nothing less than $50 per hour would be “sustainable.”

“Another survey very recently, $104,000; for a family of one, barely enough to get by, low income because of the affordability crisis,” she added.

The congresswoman declared that the federal minimum wage must also be increased in order to address the rising cost of living.

“Just do the math. Of course, we have national minimum wages that we need to raise to a living wage,” Lee said.

“We’re talking about $20, $25—fine,” she continued. “But I have got to be focused on what California needs and what the affordability factor is when we calculate this wage.”

Former baseball star Steve Garvey, the only Republican candidate to attend the debate, argued that the minimum wage “is where it is and should be.”

Garvey argued that California’s already-high minimum wage of $16 per hour has made it difficult for lower and middle class Americans to continue to survive.

“If you look at what California has done to fast-food franchises right now, increasing the minimum wage to $20, and what’s going to happen—that’s going to increase costs for hardworking Californians to go to a franchise to get a Big Mac for $9, it’s going to be $15,” he noted.

And it appears that Garvey’s prediction is already coming true.

Fat Brands chairman Andy Wiederhorn told Fox News earlier this month that “someone’s got to pay” for the spike in wages.

“Everyone wants their employees to make more money, but it just costs,” he continued, noting that “someone’s got to pay for it. . . prices are going to go up.”

Other companies were responding to the state’s recent wage hike by cutting costs: specifically by laying off employees. Pizza Hut announced in January that it planned to terminate some 1,200 delivery drivers before the new $20 minimum wage rules take effect in April.

Meanwhile, the nation is in the midst of a genuine crisis caused by President Joe Biden’s inflationary policies.

The short-term crisis that Biden inherited as the result of pandemic recovery likely would have been transitory except that he wound up exacerbating the problem by attempting to spend his way out.

With businesses struggling to lure back workers who had grown accustomed to receiving overly generous unemployment benefits, Biden’s solution was to force higher salaries, which effectively turned the short-term spike in prices due to supply-chain shortages into a permanent inflation.

GOP Blows 2 More Critical Special Elections in Pa. and N.Y., Loses Santos Seat

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) The Republican party blew two special elections Tuesday: one state-level election in Pennsylvania and another for the former Rep. George Santos’s seat in New York, resulting in the loss of control of the state’s House and an uncomfortably slim margin for Republicans in the U.S. House.

Democrat Jim Prokopiak won the purple Bucks County, Pa., race, giving the state’s Democrat party a narrow 102-100 majority in the House and preventing a tie, according to NBC News.

“With control of the state House on the line, Pennsylvanians again defeated Republicans’ anti-abortion agenda and voted for Jim Prokopiak, a Democrat who has stood up for women and working people,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said.

Other election officials stated that the win bodes well for the up-and-coming presidential election in 2024.

Whether or not it is a bellwether for voter trends, it is certainly another strong indicator of how the mail-in voting policies that Pennsylvania Democrats may have illegally implemented in 2020 are going nowhere fast having since been codified by the courts and buffered by the Democrat majority in the legislature.

They previously used the strategy to deliver a shocking win to John Fetterman in the 2022 senatorial race, despite his having had a stroke several months prior that left him virtually incapacitated for much of the campaign against celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz.

Although it proved to be one of Democrats’ only notable seat flips during the midterm election cycle, it was enough to deliver then outright control of the evenly-split Senate, which Republicans optimistically had hoped to reclaim.

Meanwhile, Democrats have already regained control of one of the most prominent GOP seat flips from the 2022 race in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, and managed to do so thanks to Republicans’ uncanny knack for self-sabotage after 105 GOP House members joined Democrats in December to oust Santos in an unprecedented move for a fellow member who had yet to be convicted of a crime.

Santos, the first openly gay Republican elected to Congress, had quickly become a target of the Left, which painted him as a serial fabulist and flamboyant eccentric.

Prior to becoming the first Republican ever forcibly removed from the House, he had been federally indicted amid allegations of campaign finance fraud and various other abuses, and was excoriated for his refusal to cooperate with an investigation by the House Ethics Committee. He is expected to strike a plea bargain with federal prosecutors.

Rep. Tom Suozzi, whom Santos had defeated, comfortably reclaimed his old seat in the special election against RINO candidate Mazi Pilip—who spent much of her campaign attempting to distance herself from former President Donald Trump, refused to admit whether she was pro-life and, according to some reports, may still be a registered Democrat.

“There’s two Democrats on the ballot, and the option is do we get a Democrat or a Democrat-Republican-lite version of a Democrat,” Santos said in an interview with CNN.

“I will not bring myself to vote for a registered Democrat, period,” he added. “It’s just against what I believe in.”

After the announcement of the results, Santos responded with a brief tweet.

Trump criticized Pilip’s campaign on Truth Social, as well.

“Republicans just don’t learn, but maybe she was still a Democrat?” he said. “[I] just watched this very foolish woman, Mazi Melesa Pilip, running in a race where she didn’t endorse me and tried to ‘straddle the fence,’ when she could have easily WON if she understood anything about MODERN DAY politics in America.”

Is Alex Soros Dating Anthony Weiner’s Ex-Wife?

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Huma Abedin, the infamous ex-wife of disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner, and Alex Soros, the son of billionaire left-wing donor George Soros, caused a stir on social media when they publicly announced an apparent relationship.

On Wednesday, Soros took to Instagram, sharing a photo of himself with Abedin in Paris, France. The picture featured a flower, petals and a small bouquet. Alongside the photo, Soros captioned, “Happy Valentine’s Day” and tagged Abedin’s profile.

Abedin reposted the photo on her Instagram account, using the temporary photo-sharing feature. This means that the post would vanish within 24 hours. The Daily Mail first reported the photo, but Headline USA independently verified the Instagram posts.

Soros recently made headlines when he was designated as the heir apparent to the leftist Soros empire, which has been actively involved in financing far-left policies, from supporting woke district attorneys to bankrolling left-wing politicians and globalist initiatives, as detailed by MRC Business.

Speculation about Soros’s romantic affairs previously circulated on social media, with many questioning his sexual orientation. However, no concrete evidence has emerged to confirm or dispel these rumors—at least until now.

Abedin gained national attention during the 2016 presidential election when her former boss, twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, became entangled in a criminal investigation related to her use of a personal email server for official State Department businesses.

Abedin herself came under scrutiny during the investigation initiated by then-FBI Director James Comey, after her ex-husband Weiner was found to possess some of the emails in question.

Weiner’s history of scandalous behavior dates to 2011 when he resigned from Congress due to sexting controversies. Two years later, Weiner unsuccessfully ran for mayor, facing yet another sex scandal. In 2016, he was caught sexting a minor and sharing a disturbing photo of his crotch while lying beside his toddler son.

According to the New York Post, Abedin filed for divorce in 2017 but later called it off. In 2022, Weiner informed the Post that the divorce was “all but finalized.” Although Weiner and Abedin has been spotted dining together, it remained unclear whether they are still romantically involved.

This is a developing story—please check back later for more updates.

Chelsey Clinton Mocked for Saying She Left Church at 6 Because She Was Pro-Abortion

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of the infamous Deep State couple, claimed she left the Baptist Church when she was 6 years old because, unlike Christians, she thought that murdering unborn babies was a justifiable practice.

During Hillary’s fundraising event, Chelsea tried to defend her mother’s non-existent Christian beliefs in front of evangelical voters, talking about how she left the church and Sunday school at a very young age because her support for abortion directly contradicted Christian morality, according to the Daily Fetched.

“I find it quite insulting sometimes when people say to my mom, my dad or me… that they question our faith. I was raised in a Methodist church and I left the Baptist church before my dad did, because I didn’t know why they were talking to me about abortion when I was [6 years old] in Sunday school — that’s a true story,” she said.

After realizing that neither she nor her mother would get any sympathy from actual Christians for leaving the church because they wanted to murder unborn babies, Chelsea then stopped talking about herself and started explaining her mother’s “authentic” faith.

“My mother is very deeply a person of faith. It is deeply authentic and real for my mother, and it guides so much of her moral compass, but also her life’s work,” she said.

People on Twitter mocked Chelsey, questioning whether a little girl would even be thinking about things like abortion.

“Is this like that time Kamala Harris was a kid at a civil rights march and her mother asked her what she needed and she just looked at her and said… ‘Fweedom,'” Melissa Chen, a contributing editor for Spectator USA, said.

Others also asked the same question.

“The Clintons are all hideous and depraved liars. What prepubescent 6-year-old girl is thinking about her ‘reproductive rights’ (i.e. the manmade, unnatural, grotesquely brutal ‘right’ to murder her preborn child)?” one of the people wrote.

Another person on Twitter was able to find a photo of Chelsey singing in a church when she was a teenager.

A Defiant Biden Refuses to Meet w/ Johnson over Border Chaos

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Joe Biden has turned down meeting requests from House Speaker Mike Johnson to address the ongoing chaos at the southern border, Politico reported on Wednesday.

The speaker’s office has sent “multiple” meeting requests to the scandal-plagued White House, but they have encountered strong resistance from the Biden team, according to an insider cited by the outlet.

The Biden blockade comes as the House leads a standoff over a border bill. Instead of discussing a new package, Biden is urging House Republicans to back the infamous border deal endorsed by the Democratic-controlled Senate.

“What is there to negotiate? Really, truly, what is the one-on-one negotiation about when he’s been presented with exactly what he’s asked for?” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday. “He’s negotiating with himself.”

Undeterred by the resistance, Johnson said he will “continue to insist” on a meeting with Biden.

“If the speaker of the House can’t meet with the president of the United States, that’s a problem,” Johnson said, as reported by the outlet. “I don’t know why they’re uncomfortable having the president sit across the table from me, but I will go in good faith.”

The last face-to-face meeting between the two took place on Jan. 17, with a phone conversation occurring on Jan. 10. Subsequently, Johnson called for a meeting on Jan. 22, but had no success.

The battle between Johnson and Biden began after the Senate tied its border deal to the funding of Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. After facing criticism from Republicans for not strongly addressing the southern border, the Senate passed a bill exclusively focusing on foreign funding.

The $95 billion bill allocated $60.1 billion to Ukraine, $14.1 billion to Israel and $10 billion to humanitarian aid in the Hamas-governed Gaza Strip, the Senate announced Monday.

Speaker Johnson criticized the measure for neglecting border policies, saying the “foreign aid bill is silent on the most pressing issue facing our country.” Johnson added, “The mandate of national security supplemental legislation was to secure America’s own border before sending additional foreign aid around the world.”

House Intel Chair Flags ‘National Security Threat’ before Votes on Ukraine Aid, FISA

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) As Congress continues to debate reforms to U.S. agencies’ domestic spying powers as well as President Joe Biden’s request for $95 billion in foreign aid, top officials are now warning of a “national security threat” coming from Russia.

Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, the head of the House Intelligence Committee, made the supposed threat public on Wednesday when he urged the Biden administration on Wednesday to declassify information about what he called a serious national security threat.

Turner, a vocal proponent of providing aid to Ukraine and renewing the current version of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, gave no details about the nature of the threat. Several leading lawmakers, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, cautioned against being overly alarmed.

Johnson said he was not at liberty to disclose the classified information. “But we just want to assure everyone steady hands are at the wheel. We’re working on it and there’s no need for alarm,” he told reporters at the Capitol.

Turner earlier Wednesday sent an email to members of Congress saying his committee had “identified an urgent matter with regard to a destabilizing foreign military capability” that should be known to all congressional policy makers. He encouraged them to come to a SCIF, a secure area, to review the intelligence.

Democratic Rep. Jim Himes, the ranking member of the Intelligence Committee, said in a statement that the classified information is “significant” but “not a cause for panic.”

According to CNN, the threat has something to do with Russia.

“Two sources and a US official tell CNN the threat is related to Russia,” CNN reported. “One of the sources who has seen the intelligence confirmed that ‘it is, in fact, a highly concerning and destabilizing’ Russian capability ‘that we were recently made aware of.’”

Meanwhile, national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters at the White House that he already had been due to brief Turner and other senior congressional leaders on Thursday. Sullivan did not disclose the topic or provide any other details related to Turner’s statement.

“I’m focused on going to see him, sit with him as well as the other House members of the Gang of Eight, tomorrow,” Sullivan said. “And I’m not in a position to say anything further from this podium at this time.”

He acknowledged it was not standard practice to offer such a briefing.

The supposed national security threat has been met with skepticism from conservative and libertarian pundits.

“Five days ago Rep. Turner was in Kiev to assure Zelensky that the US fully supports the additional $60 billion in funding (a dirty lie) … and then all of a sudden when it looks like the House hesitates on the funding he rolls out some kind of new spectacular RU threat? Right,” said Daniel McAdams, the executive director for the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

“You’re struggling to pass another monster spending bill for Ukraine and suddenly there is a major national security threat which you claim comes from Russia. Sure, bro,” added popular libertarian broadcaster Clint Russell.

The House Rules Committee is set to vote on a FISA reform bill later today.

SELLERS: How Vladimir Putin Became the REAL Winner on Super Bowl Sunday

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Two notable events happened Sunday night that, at first glance, may have seemed unrelated to the casual observer.

Yet, both proved that, for all its virtue-signaling about safeguarding democracy against Russian President Vladimir Putin, the woke Left is playing right into the ex-KGB spymaster’s hands in his bid to weaken and subvert America from within.

In Las Vegas, the Kansas City Chiefs triumphed over the San Francisco 49ers in an overtime nailbiter to win the NFL’s Super Bowl LVIII.

An estimated 126 million tuned into the game, many of them drawn by the prospect of seeing pop star Taylor Swift root for her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The turnout made it by far the most-watched Super Bowl—and, possibly, one of the biggest television events on record after the 1969 moon landing, which was a symbolic victory in the U.S. space race against the Soviet Union.

Kicking things off on Sunday, in controversial fashion for the second year running, was a performance of the so-called black national anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” by 2021 Oscar nominee Andra Day.

The song drew considerable backlash on social media, but Democrats relished in the scandal, with one black lawmaker brazenly scolding attendees over the fact that many people did not stand for it in due reverence.

Supporters tout the song’s heritage, inspiring lyrics and beauty as a fitting recognition of the league’s mostly black players.

Detractors, however, point out that it is divisive and disrespectful—not to mention racist—to insist upon a “separate but equal” national anthem.

A PREOCCUPATION W/ PUTIN

Meanwhile, roughly 2,500 miles away from Sin City’s Allegiant Stadium—at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.—67 senators voted to advance an appropriations bill that would deliver some $61 billion in additional funding for Ukraine’s war with Russia.

The Senate would go on to pass the $95 billion total in federal spending on foreign aid (including Israel and Taiwan) early Tuesday, although its fate in the House remains uncertain.

In justifying the unpopular vote RINO North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis declared, “Our base cannot possibly know what’s at stake at the level that any well-briefed U.S. senator should know about what’s at stake if Putin wins,” according to Punchbowl News.

The controversial bill, predictably, follows an uptick in rhetoric from the Left and its allies claiming that former President Donald Trump and his supporters are Putin apologists for their efforts to reject the latest aid package while casting doubt on the underlying motives of America’s support for Ukraine.

Many in the mainstream media lost their heads over Tucker Carlson’s interview last week with the Russian president.

The two-hour segment made clear that Putin, unintimidated by the ex-Fox News host, was pushing his own propaganda, just as the Biden administration and its media lapdogs push theirs in an equal and opposite direction.

Unlike Biden, though, Putin is a master liar—more akin to Barack Obama—in his ability to speak in half-truths that, while not technically false, distort the context of an argument to reach devious conclusions. During a 2022 summit at the University of Chicago, Obama even praised Putin for his “absolute control of information.”

Putin won points from Carlson’s viewers by condemning the murder of Ashli Babbitt during the Jan. 6 uprising, but he also denied any connection with the long list of critics and political dissidents that he, himself, is suspected of killing.

“We don’t have this kind of habit of assassinating anybody,” he claimed.

Putin likewise hammered the Biden administration for its open borders and profligate spending, but only as part of an apparent effort to urge an end to the U.S. involvement in Ukraine.

“You have issues on the border; issues with migration; issues with the national debt—more than $33 trillion,” he said.

“You have nothing better to do, so you should fight in Ukraine,” he continued. “Wouldn’t it be better to negotiate with Russia? Make an agreement, already understanding the situation that is developing today?”

RUSSIA’S RED HERRING?

As many critics have observed, the Biden administration’s preoccupation with Ukraine (and with foreign wars in general) has weakened our hand domestically.

In a recent speech opposing the Senate’s approval of the additional Ukraine funding, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., noted that the deal does a lot to line the pockets of those in bed with the defense industry, while depriving most tax-paying Americans of their own defense spending.

“Open the champagne, pop the cork. They’ve got $60 billion they’re bringing. They’re taking your money to Kyiv,” Paul said in his speech on the Senate floor Monday.

Although some have suggested that the underlying goal of the Ukraine operation is to keep Russia’s military forces preoccupied, the effect has been quite the opposite, depleting America’s military equipment and resources on a quagmire with no clear objectives or strategy, while diverting funds that might be used to secure the U.S. border and ease the inflationary economy.

If the proxy war in Ukraine is really a game of cat-and-mouse with the Kremlin, one has to wonder who is chasing whom.

It may be impossible to know to what extent Putin’s CIA counterpart, the Sluzhba vneshney razvedki has infiltrated the U.S., but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

The evidence of foreign infiltration and influence is right before our eyes in the fast-spreading institutional disfunction we have witnessed—beginning with the Obama era, when the 44th president promised Putin surrogate Dmitry Medvedev in 2012, “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.”

Medvedev, who was then serving as the official Russian president, appeared to respond, “I’ll transmit this information to Vladimir” before receiving a pat on the arm from Obama.

THE REDS AND THE BLACKS

Nothing has been more effective at undermining the United States, in fact, than the toxic identity politics that have become central to the Left’s platform.

Political correctness has laid waste to our education system and crippled our military. Indeed, it has achieved many of the objectives on a famous list of 45 Soviet objectives for bringing down America that first surfaced in 1958 and was entered into the congressional record in 1963.

The communist plan to incite racial discord within the United States as a means of bringing revolution, however, began even earlier than that. It traces back to the Sixth Congress of the Communist International, which was held in Moscow in July and August of 1928.

A follow-up membership meeting for the Communist Party USA occurred on Oct. 2, 1928, and delivered the key takeaways of the Comintern congress.

Words like “decolonization” that may seem relatively new to the uninitiated appear in this manifesto, which lay long dormant as political operatives spent nearly a century laying the groundwork in their plan to capture total cultural and political control of the West.

With respect to America’s black population, the communist efforts may, at first, have seemed quite laudable as they played a major role in advancing parts of the civil rights movement.

The International Labor Defense represented the defendants in a high-profile 1931 trial in Scottsboro, Ala., involving nine black men who were sentenced to death for allegedly raping two white women on a train.

After clashing over the defense strategy with the fledgling NAACP, the ILD took control of the appeals process, bringing national attention to the case and getting the convictions overturned initially, although the “Scottsboro Boys” would be retried two more times and ultimately convicted.

While the communist-backed group became popular with blacks for defending their civil rights in the Jim Crow era, little did they know that they were simply being used as pawns in Joseph Stalin’s master plan.

As the minutes of the CPUSA’s October 1928 meeting indicated, “The especially intense exploitation and heavy oppression to which the millions of Negroes in America are subject make it imperative for the party to devote its best energies and its maximum resources towards becoming the recognized leader and champion of the interests of Negroes as an oppressed people.”

However, they went on to suggest that the true underlying purpose was not to achieve racial equality as a means of strengthening America, but to weaken it by provoking a race-based Marxist revolution.

“Our objective, of course, here is to have the Negro proletariat assume the hegemony in the entire Negro national movement,” it said. “We will on a subsequent occasion discuss the details of this question, particularly the decision of the Congress supplementing our Negro Program for complete social and political equality with the slogan of self-determination for the Negroes in the United States.”

A SHIFT IN STRATEGY

By the 1970s, America had weathered the growing pains of its civil rights movement. The overt communist influence may have been largely neutralized by the McCarthyism of the 1950s, although it continued to germinate in universities and underground political organizations via the 1960s counterculture movement.

Unfortunately for the Soviets, things weren’t going according to plan. Perhaps it was the fact that President Lyndon B. Johnson had made the drastic pivot from racist to civil rights champion after seeing the survival of the Democratic Party at stake.

While pandering to blacks and other minority communities helped, in a way, to prevent them from becoming more radicalized by outside influences like the Soviets, Johnson remained anti-communist and kept the Democrats still largely centered on American values.

Thus, in 1971, the KGB launched Operation Pandora, an active effort to trigger a race war by fomenting serious acts of violence, including planting bombs in black communities and blaming right-wing extremists.

Race riots following the 1968 death of Martin Luther King Jr. had proven effective in moving the political dial, and the communists took note as they tried to align themselves with members of the radical Black Panthers militia.

“Because the rise of negro protest in the USA will bring definite difficulties to the ruling classes of the USA and will distract the attention of the Nixon administration from pursuing an active foreign policy, we would consider it feasible to implement a number of measures to support this movement and to assist its growth,” Soviet KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov wrote in a letter to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, as reported by the National Association of Scholars.

Many of the Soviet efforts, in fact, revolved around stoking tensions between blacks and Jews in the hopes that undermining U.S. support for Israel would help the U.S.S.R. gain a strategic foothold in the Middle East.

THE REVOLUTION IS REBORN

Ostensibly, Operation Pandora came to an end in the early 1980s, when the Reagan administration discovered and dismantled a KGB spy ring.

Andropov, the longtime ringleader at the KGB, died in 1984, having climbed the ladder to become general secretary of the Communist Party and nominal leader of the U.S.S.R.

A year after his death, Mikhail Gorbachev rose to power, ushering in the end of the Soviet Union.

Putin, who took over in the year 2000, has often expressed admiration for Andropov and modeled some of his policies after him.

Meanwhile, Angela Davis—the former black militant and American communist party candidate whose efforts were instrumental in advancing the field of critical race theory—celebrated Obama’s 2008 election as “a victory, not of an individual, but of … people who refused to believe that it was impossible to elect a person, a black person, who identified with the black radical tradition.”

Small wonder that Obama seemed so cordial with Putin during his presidency, even while laying the groundwork for the 2014 color revolution in Ukraine that would provide Russia with the cover story it needed to reclaim the Crimean peninsula and set the stage for its present military operations.

Obama’s actions to undermine U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East—allowing the rise of ISIS, sending money to Iran and alienating Israel—likewise benefitted Putin strategically.

And, of course, his policies and rhetoric helped lay the foundation for the apotheosis of wokeism following the uncannily well-timed death of George Floyd in May 2020.

Leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement that rose to prominence following Floyd’s death acknowledged that they were trained in Marxist thought—and they seemed to cast themselves, in many ways, as a revival of the 1970s-era Black Liberation Army.

A few months later, during the opening Sunday of the NFL’s 2020 season, the majority of players on the Baltimore Ravens stood for “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” but knelt immediately after for “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Whatever money Congress is sending to show its performative support for an unwinnable war at the Ukraine–Russia border, Putin undoubtedly is laughing with the knowledge that he has now thoroughly infiltrated America’s interior, without even having to cross the Rio Grande.

The dueling “national anthems” are the culmination of Russia’s 100-year plot to divide and conquer its greatest geopolitical rival. And the Left’s insinuations that it is MAGA doing the bidding of our foreign adversary may be the Andropov’s greatest trick yet, even 40 years after his death.

WATCH: Hunt Bros. Floor Trader Discusses Epic 1980 Silver Squeeze

(Money Metals News Service) The story of the Hunt brothers and their attempt to “corner the silver market” in 1979 and 1980 is a classic example of speculative investment, market manipulation, and government intervention on a grand scale.

Peter Thomas was present on the trading floor during this period and shares his account of this historic silver market incident with our friend David Morgan of TheMorganReport.com.

The Hunt brothers, Herbert and Nelson “Bunker” Hunt, heirs to an oil fortune, embarked on a bold strategy in the late 1970s. Their belief in inevitable inflation and the subsequent devaluation of paper currency led them to silver, a precious metal they viewed as a safeguard against economic instability.
