Prisons Bureau Closes ‘Rape Club’ Where J6ers Were Held

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The Bureau of Prisons said Monday it will close FCI Dublin, a women’s prison in California known as the “rape club,”where multiple Jan. 6 inmates were held.

The announcement of FCI Dublin’s closure comes after the FBI searched the prison last month, after a warden sent to help rehabilitate the facility was accused of retaliating against a whistleblower inmate.

Days later, a federal judge overseeing lawsuits against the prison, said she would appoint a special master to oversee the facility’s operations. Many are viewing the decision to close FCI Dublin as retaliation against the judge for appointing someone to oversee the facility.

An AP investigation in 2021 found a culture of abuse and cover-ups that had persisted for years at the prison. That reporting led to increased scrutiny from Congress and pledges from the BOP that it would fix problems and change the culture at the prison.

Since 2021, at least eight FCI Dublin employees have been charged with sexually abusing inmates. Five have pleaded guilty. Two were convicted at trial, including the former warden, Ray Garcia. Another case is pending.

Multiple Jan. 6 inmates were held at FCI Dublin, including a grandmother.

A Twitter account purporting to belong to Jan. 6 defendant Danean MacAndrew described her experience in the wretched facility. MacAndrew was at FCI Dublin for misdemeanor charges.

“I served time here. It was so bad when the guards screamed at us. Many of the women have PTSD from domestic violence. It was a massive trigger and the guards knew it,” she said.

Last August, eight FCI Dublin inmates sued the BOP, alleging the agency had failed to root out sexual abuse. Amaris Montes, a lawyer for the plaintiffs,

Montes said the civil litigation will continue despite the imminent closure.

“The BOP is the defendant in the case. It’s not FCI Dublin,” she said. “And so we are in the mindset that this did not end our case — that they still have a responsibility to our clients to keep them safe.”

Meanwhile, inmate advocates worry that some of the safety concerns at FCI Dublin could persist at the other women’s prisons. “The problem isn’t solved by shipping these girls to new facilities,” said another former Dublin inmate and whistleblower who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“These facilities still have the same issues.”

Florida to Teach Public-School Students about Communism

() Florida school students will receive instruction on the history of communism after a bill was signed into law on Wednesday.

The legislation signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis will require public schools to implement age-appropriate teaching lessons on the history of communism, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

“We’ve seen what’s happened on the island of Cuba over these many decades, because of totalitarian ideology, communist ideology, and you’ve wrecked a society, because of that tyranny,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis said that the evils of communism often get lost in the shuffle of daily life.

He added that some colleges are trying to “rehabilitate communism” to “whitewash” communism to make it seem like it “wasn’t true communism.”

“There’s apologists for communism in our society, and what we’re doing today builds off the stake in the ground that we planted in the state of Florida many years ago when I first became governor,” DeSantis said. “We’re gonna tell the truth about communism in the state of Florida.”

DeSantis added that the truth about the unprecedented death toll at the hands of communist regimes will be taught to students, which amounts to over 100 million lives lost, spread across communist countries like China, Cuba, and the former Soviet Union.

“Those are the facts, and that is what we need to be very clear-eyed about,” DeSantis said. “Now, we have signed in previous years legislation that codified in state law ‘Victims of Communism Day’ for Nov. 7 of every year.”

DeSantis said that the legislation required at least 45 minutes of instruction during a U.S. government class to include topics related to the history of communism. DeSantis noted that this is the first school year where these topics have been implemented.

Topics would include instruction on Mao Zedong and the Cultural Revolution, Joseph Stalin and the Stalinist regime, Fidel Castro and the Cuban regime, Vladimir Lenin and the Russian Revolution, and more recent communist leaders like Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.

“All of those topics are just providing the truth of what actually happened,” DeSantis said.

“I think it’s important that people know the details,” he continued. “… I didn’t see people fleeing into Mao’s China. I didn’t see people fleeing into the Soviet Union. People are fleeing these regimes and they fled these regimes over many many decades.”

For 3rd Year Running, N.Y. Received More Federal Funds than It Sent

() For the third year in a row, New York State received more funding from Washington, D.C. than it paid in federal taxes, according to a new fiscal watchdog report.

The report by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli found that New York generated $361.8 billion in federal taxes in fiscal year 2022 and received $383 billion in federal spending, meaning the state received $1.06 for every dollar it sent to Washington.

The national average was $1.28, according to the report.

Although the Empire State was well below average, wealthy blue states have often sought to use their revenues as leverage to slam poorer states that receive more federal funds while also tending to oppose federal overreach in favor of states’ rights.

The report found that only five states—Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, California and Washington—paid more taxes than they received back from Washington in fiscal year 2022.

That is likely to change in the FY2023 data, however, as both Massachusetts and New Jersey declared states of emergency due to the immigration crisis cause by President Joe Biden’s open-border policies.

California and Washington likewise have been hit with tighter finances due to the monetary strains from illegal immigration and homelessness, among other issues that have drained their budgets.

Much of the excess in federal handouts has either resulted in additional money being printed—thereby adding to the inflation crisis—or compounding the federal debt, which is now approaching $35 trillion and adding an additional trillion roughly every hundred days.

DiNapoli said while pandemic aid is winding down, New York still benefited from the additional federal funding in the form of enhanced program funding, federal grants and other sources of revenue.

“Federal pandemic spending had a significant impact on New York,” DiNapoli said in the report. “Even though spending for relief purposes decreased markedly in FFY 2022, this support played a major role in New York continuing the pandemic-era trend of receiving more in federal expenditures than it generated in federal tax payments.”

New York generated $18,388 per capita, ranking it third in per capita contribution to the federal treasury, which was 32.4% higher than the national average of $13,888, according to the report.

The state received $19,464 per capita, ranking it 11th in per capita federal spending, 9.3% higher than the national average of $17,804, DiNapoli said.

New York’s per-capita tax contribution ranks highly in most categories, except for excise taxes, where it ranks last, according to the report.

On a per-capita basis, individual income taxes represent the largest portion of taxes paid at $11,095 – 41.6% higher than the national average of $7,834, DiNapoli said.

New York ranked first on per-capita corporate income taxes at $1,976, $701 higher than the national per capita level of $1,275, the report noted.

How much money New York gives to Washington and gets back in return has long been a sticking point between the state and federal governments.

The Empire State is often considered Washington’s biggest cash machine, and in years before the pandemic, the state regularly received tens of millions of dollars less from the federal government than it sent to the Beltway.

In fiscal year 2018, New York paid $26.6 billion more in taxes to the federal government than it got back in federal spending—the highest deficit among the 50 states, according to a previous report from DiNapoli’s office.

For every tax dollar paid to Washington in FY18, New York received 90 cents in return—well below the national average of $1.21 during that fiscal year.

But during the COVID-19 pandemic federal spending ramped up substantially, resulting in a positive balance of payments for all states and ensuring that New York and other states collectively received more in federal funds than they paid in taxes.

In his report, DiNapoli warned that New York’s balance of payments with Washington could turn negative again as federal spending returns to its pre-pandemic levels.

“As we return to a pre-pandemic level of federal support, New York’s balance of payments may again shift back to negative,” DiNapoli wrote. “Significant levels of new funding are available to New York under the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, though the future impact for this analysis is still unclear.”

Biden Latest Gaffe: Voters Must ‘Choose Freedom over Democracy’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Joe Biden attempted to deliver a dire warning ahead of the 2024 presidential election on Thursday. However, Biden’s message was marred by a glaring gaffe that left many perplexed.

Speaking in Philadelphia, ahead of the Pennsylvania primary, Biden posed a rather odd question to his audience: “Are you ready to choose freedom over democracy? Because that’s America.”

Despite the apparent nonsensical nature of Biden’s remarks, the crowd erupted in applause.

Following the event, the White House swiftly edited the official speech transcript, marking a correction to Biden’s apparent slip-up.

The revised transcript read: “Are you ready to choose unity over division, dignity over demolition, and choose truth over lies?  (Applause.)  Are you ready to choose freedom over [and] democracy?  Because that’s America.  (Applause.)”

This isn’t the first instance where the White House has had to amend Biden’s public statements, a practice that seems to be recurring and with no shame. Such alterations often include brackets and inserted words not spoken by Biden, as reported by the Daily Wire.

Despite these efforts, Biden’s public appearances continue to raise concerns among many Americans, who question whether their commander-in-chief can articulate his thoughts clearly or if he is spreading falsehoods.

Biden’s recent campaign trips to Pennsylvania were marked by several gaffes and inaccuracies.

While speaking in Pittsburgh, Biden repeated—and even became emotional over—a disputed report by The Atlantic alleging that former President Donald Trump had disparaged fallen soldiers as “suckers” and “losers.” However, there is not a single piece of evidence to support these claims.

25 former White House officials have denied Biden ever making such statements. Left-wing fact-checkers at the Washington Post and Snopes have declined to corroborate The Atlantic’s shoddy journalism.

Additionally, during the same Pittsburgh event, Biden recounted an unproven story to United Steelworkers Union members about his uncle, World War II veteran Ambrose Finnegan, suggesting he may have been killed and eaten by cannibals in New Guinea. Biden reiterated this claim to reporters later that day.

However, according to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, which documents the fates of prisoners of war or missing-in-action servicemen, Finnegan’s plane crashed into the ocean off the north coast of New Guinea on May 14, 1944. His body was never recovered, and there is no mention of cannibals in the agency’s records.

Adding to the concerns that Biden’s re-election campaign might be lacking enthusiasm, Biden’s two trips to a Sheetz gas station and a Wawa store during his Pennsylvania campaign stop were marred by awkward exchanges with workers and seemingly pre-approved scripts.

Rep. MTG Trolls House w/ Amendment to Force Pro-Ukraine Lawmakers Join Ukrainian Military

(Headline USA) Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., introduced an amendment to a foreign aid bill that would require any House member who votes in favor of it to enlist in the Ukrainian military, Newsweek reported.

“Any Member of Congress who votes in favor of this Act shall be required to conscript in the Ukrainian military,” said the amendment, obtained by Axios reporter Juliegrace Brufke.

Greene defended her amendment on social media, writing, “I mean if you want to fund the war, why don’t you go fight in it. Show your support for Ukraine.”

It was one of several proposed amendments from the America First lawmaker that led some to speculate that she might be trolling the bill’s supporters, according to Politico.

Among the others amendments was a proposal for “space lasers” at the southern border—presumably a reference to a controversial tweet for which Greene was previously stripped of her committee assignments under then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Greene also proposed establishing an Israeli-style “Iron Dome” at the border, and redirecting the Ukraine funding for other causes, including “cash to victims of last year’s Maui wildfires, the East Palestine train disaster and to deport undocumented migrants,” wrote Politico.

The foreign-aid bill, introduced by House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., would provide billions of dollars in assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

Many House Republicans oppose the measure, arguing lawmakers should vote on aid to each of the countries individually.

Conservatives such as Greene specifically have raised concerns about sending additional aid to Ukraine given the estimated $114 billion dollars the U.S. has already provided and the limited guardrails on the funding.

Greene is one of several GOP lawmakers threatening to oust Johnson over his efforts to pass another Ukraine aid package.

She recently introduced a motion to vacate Johnson from the speakership, but it has not been brought to the House floor for a vote. Greene warned she would force a vote on it if Johnson continued to cave to Democrats’ demands.

“I’m not saying I have a red line or a trigger, and I’m not saying I don’t have a red line or trigger. And I think that’s just where I’m at right now. But I’m going to tell you right now: Funding Ukraine is probably one of the most egregious things that he can do,” she said.

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., voiced his support for the motion this week over Johnson’s “betrayal” and announced he would co-sponsor it.

“[Johnson] should pre-announce his resignation (as Boehner did), so we can pick a new Speaker without ever being without a GOP Speaker,” Massie added.

Biased Judge Merchan Gags Media from Reporting on Jury’s Possible Biases

(Headline USA) The far-left judge in Donald Trump’s Manhattan business documents trial does not just want the former president to keep the courtroom details under wraps. He is now demanding that media covering the unprecedented trial follow his parameters, as well.

Judge Juan Merchan ordered the media on Thursday not to report on where potential jurors have worked and to be careful about revealing information about those who will sit in judgment of the former president—even though the information in question may be significant in revealing their potential biases for or against the famous defendant.

Merchan acted after one juror was dismissed when she expressed concerns about participating in the trial after details about her became publicly known from media reports that offered descriptive details of those selected.

The names of the jurors are supposed to be a secret, but the dismissed juror told Merchan she had friends, colleagues and family members contacting her to ask whether she was on the case.

“I don’t believe at this point I can be fair and unbiased and let the outside influences not affect my decision-making in the courtroom,” she said.

Despite the setback, 12 jurors were seated by the end of Thursday.

However, Merchan directed journalists present in the courthouse not to report it when potential jurors told the court their specific workplaces, past or present. That put journalists in the difficult position of not reporting something they heard in open court.

Some media organizations were considering whether to protest having that onus placed on them—a highly irregular demand that had potentially chilling implications for transparency, due process and free speech.

Generally, the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution bars judges from ordering journalists not to disclose what they hear and see in courtrooms open to the public, though there are exceptions, such as when military security is at stake.

New York criminal defense lawyer Ron Kuby said that while judges typically can’t control what the media reports, other options are available to protect juror anonymity, including restricting what reporters see and hear in the courtroom.

“There are actions the judge could take,” he said. “Courts have extraordinary powers to protect jurors from tampering and intimidation. It is really where a court’s power is at its peak.”

The court action underscored the difficulty of trying to maintain anonymity for jurors in a case that has sparked wide interest and heated opinions, while lawyers need to sift through as much information as possible in a public courtroom to determine whom to choose.

New York state law requires trial attorneys to get the names of jurors, but the judge has ordered the lawyers in Trump’s case not to disclose those names publicly. The jurors’ names haven’t been mentioned in court during three days of jury selection.

Still, enough personal information about the jurors was revealed in court that people might be able to identify them anyway.

Some news organizations described details including what Manhattan neighborhoods potential jurors lived in, what they did for a living, what academic degrees they had earned, how many children they had, what countries they grew up in and what their spouses did for a living.

On Fox News Channel Wednesday night, host Jesse Watters did a segment with a jury consultant, revealing details about people who had been seated on the jury and questioning whether some were “stealth liberals” who would be out to convict Trump.

Besides his order about employment history, Merchan said he was asking the media to “simply apply common sense and refrain from writing about anything that has to do, for example, with physical descriptions.”

He said “there was really no need” for the media to mention one widely-reported tidbit that a juror speaks with an Irish accent.

Anonymous juries have long existed, particularly in terrorism and mob-related cases or when there is a history of jury tampering. They have been ordered more frequently in the last two decades with the rising influence of social media and the anonymous hate speech that is sometimes associated with it.

Usually courtroom artists are told they aren’t permitted to draw the face of any juror in their sketches; New York courts do not permit video coverage of trials.

During the Trump defamation trial in Manhattan federal court earlier this year, jurors had heightened protection of their identities by a security-conscious judge who routinely did not allow anyone in his courtroom to have a cellphone, even if it was shut off.

Jurors were driven to and from the courthouse by the U.S. Marshals Service and were sequestered from the public during trial breaks.

When asked general questions about themselves during jury selection in that case, prospective jurors often gave vague answers that would have made it nearly impossible to determine much about them.

After the ruling in that case, Judge Lewis A. Kaplan ordered the anonymous jury not to disclose the identities of any of the people they served with, and advised jurors not to disclose their service. So far, none have come forward publicly.

Kuby said the ability of lawyers at Trump’s trial to research the backgrounds of jurors was important.

“Both sides have interest in preventing sleeper jurors who have their own agenda from serving on the jury,” he said.

Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor who is president of the West Coast Trial Lawyers, said the difficulty at the Trump trial is weeding out people with extreme viewpoints.

“Everyone in the entire country knows who Donald Trump is,” Rahmani said. “Some think he’s a criminal traitor and insurrectionist. Others think he’s a hero. You don’t have a lot of people in the middle.”

Merchan’s own biases have become a major point of contention, with his latest decree perhaps reinforcing for some his willingness to bend normal protocol in situations where he deems that the ends justify the means.

He was exposed for having given donations to the Biden campaign during the 2020 election, as well as other Democratic causes, and his daughter was revealed to oversee a marketing firm that includes as its clients Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Vice President Kamala Harris, among others.

The firm has received millions of dollars pushing out messaging that promotes the idea of Trump being found guilty.

Rather than recuse himself, however, Merchan expanded a controversial gag order requiring that Trump desist in talking about the family members of court officials or risk being held in contempt.

EXCLUSIVE: Leftist Disrupts Moms for Liberty Townhall Dealing w/ Classroom Violence

(Stephen Horn, Headline USA) At a townhall hosted by Moms for Liberty Wednesday in Raleigh, N.C., concerned parents and policy experts gathered to discuss the hottest topics involving the state’s education system.

Of special interest during the roughly two-hour “Giving Parents a Voice” event was the topic of classroom violence and discipline issues. At least three of the featured panelists had left the public-school system due to violence or threats from students against themselves or their fellow teachers.

Unfortunately, the event itself may have given them unpleasant flashbacks after radical social-justice warriors attempted to disrupt the meeting—with one woman getting escorted out by Raleigh police following a profanity-laced tirade.

The left-wing activist wearing a COVID face mask and a T-shirt that said “Ban Bigots Not Books” attempted to disrupt the event when she was not given a microphone at the end of the Q&A session following the panels.

Leftist state Rep. Julie von Haefen, D-Apex, also attened the townhall, tweeting that she was there not to hear parents’ concerns but to “learn about what this group has planned to attack our education system.”

Although von Haefen was sitting in close proximity to the woman who was escorted out, the lawmaker denied claims that she arrived or sat with this demonstrator: “I don’t know her.”

Moms for Liberty, an education-focused grassroots organization, might be best known for its activism in regards to COVID-19 restrictions, leftist indoctrination, or pornographic material in school libraries.

However, much of the panelists’ discussion revolved around classroom safety and the failures of the public-school system in dealing with misbehaving students.

Susie Cole described the incident that led to her leaving the Surry County Schools after five years working with students with the in-school suspension program.

“I left the public school system because I was threatened by one of those students who did actually actively follow through on that threat,” Cole said.

“He didn’t hurt me physically, but that day we had the police involvement,” Cole continued. “At that point, I knew it was time to seek something else; [I] loved working with the students, but needed to move on.”

Annette Albright, a former behavioral-modification technician at Charlotte–Mecklenburg Schools, related how she had been brutally assaulted by a group of students in 2016

“I had a concussion, I had scratches, I had bruises…so many bruises through my head that two weeks later, maybe three, I went to my hairdresser and she actually started crying.” she said.

Instead of being supported by her school district, Albright was fired.

“I told the absolute truth, told what happened, got the report from CMS, and was like, ‘Whose report is this?'” she said. “Immediately, I was labeled the villain.”

Albright settled a lawsuit against the district in 2018.

“We have to make our schools safe or none of nothing else works,” she said. “We don’t have educators because they’re afraid.”

Albright also referenced a video that had gone viral via Libs of TikTok just days before, showing a student slapping his teacher in Forsyth County, N.C.

Although Moms for Liberty is a nonpartisan organization, its activism has attracted a great deal of negative attention from the Left.

Shortly before the group’s national summit last June at the Museum of the American Revolution on Philadelphia, a far-left hate group, the Southern Poverty Law Center, flagged the group as “extremist,” which resulted in acts of mass protest and vandalism, nearly leading the museum to cancel the event.

The SPLC smear attack was later discovered to have been done in direct consultation with the Biden administration, which had previously weaponized the Justice Department against concerned parents attending their local school-board meetings.

Local chapters have also been forced to deal with the harassment that comes, ironically, from left-wing extremists who accuse the parent group of the same sorts of radical acts for which they themselves are egregiously guilty.

During the townhall Albright relayed she was told that she “didn’t win a school board seat” in deeply-Democratic Mecklenburg county because of her friendship with the local Moms for Liberty chapter chair, Brooke Weiss.

Weiss, a former teacher, also left the profession over violence in the classroom: “A student that had been threatening me for the whole entire school year, when he attacked my partner teacher, beat him to a pulp, I decided that I needed to go,” she said.

“I’ll take my friend over a school board seat any day of the week,” said Albright.

Mike Johnson Promises Not to Slip ‘Motion to Vacate’ Repeal into Ukrainian Bill

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Mike Johnson, R-La., pledged on Thursday not to cunningly amend the powerful tool that empowers one Republican to threaten his role as House speaker.

Johnson clarified his stance following media reports hinting at the possibility of him introducing an amendment to the House rule, commonly referred to as the “motion to vacate,” within contentious foreign funding bills.

In a Twitter statement, Johnson acknowledged that some Republicans have called for a repeal of the “motion to vacate,” but affirmed his apparent commitment to adhere to current rules.

“Since the beginning of the 118th Congress, the House rule allowing a Motion to Vacate from a single member has harmed this office and our House majority,” Johnson claimed.

The House speaker, currently facing Republican turmoil over his funding of President Joe Biden’s administration and endorsement of Ukrainian aid, stated that amending the rule would require a GOP majority.

“While I understand the importance of that idea, any rule change requires a majority of the full House, which we do not have,” he said. “We will continue to govern under the existing rules.”

The House GOP is currently divided, with many stating that if Johnson amends the motion to vacate the rule, they would immediately file the same motion, thus removing him from the speakership.

The plans to change the motion to vacate partly originated from the House Main Street Caucus, considered more centrist and pragmatic than hardline GOPers. Politico said the more moderate Republicans proposed changing the House rules to empower him.

The plan involved removing Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.; Chip Roy, R-Texas; and Ralph Norman, R-S.C., from the House Rules panel. The latter two Republicans are members of the House Freedom Caucus. Such a removal would make bringing legislation to the House floor easier.

The second part of the plan aimed to increase the threshold, making it harder to remove a speaker. Politico reported that adding such a rule to the foreign bill was not their idea.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., the Republican leading the threats to oust Johnson, insisted that the speaker must meet with the GOP conference before changing the rule.

“This has never happened in history. And it’s completely wrong. He owes our conference the truth and he owes Republicans answers,” Greene said. “He’s going to prove exactly what I’ve been saying correct. He is the Democrat’s speaker.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., who expressed a lack of confidence in Johnson, warned that changing the motion to vacate would be fatal for Johnson’s speakership.

“I told [Johnson] changing the threshold of the motion to vacate – that’s been my red line this entire Congress,” Boebert said. “It’s my red line then, it’s my red line now. I told [him] there’s nothing that will get you to a motion to vacate faster than changing the threshold.”

Soros PAC Wants to Convince White Women to Vote for Dems in 2024

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A George Soros-funded PAC is bankrolling a political committee that is trying to convince moderate white women to vote for Democrats in the upcoming 2024 election.

A campaign finance disclosure revealed that Democracy PAC donated $1 million to the One For All Committee, which produces and runs advertisements that persuade “moderate white women” to vote for Democrats in “key battleground states.”

In its past campaigns, One For All has supported Joe Biden, Democratic Senate candidates and Janet Protasiewicz, a Democrat-endorsed Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate.

Federal Election Commission records indicated that all of Democracy PAC’s funds have come either from Soros himself or the Fund for Policy Reform, a political advocacy organization founded and financed by him.

Even though FEC records indicated that the One For All Committee didn’t spend any money on federal political advertisements this election cycle, the organization spent millions between 2020 and 2022 supporting Democrats and opposing Republicans.

The ads that were produced by One for All have focused on topics like access to abortion, the child tax credit, COVID-19 and racial justice, among other things.

One ad that was produced to support 2022 Wisconsin Democratic Senate nominee Mandela Barnes featured a white female nurse who said she “never thought the right to abortion would be overturned.”

“That’s just wrong. This is America, the land of the free,” she said.

In another ad created to support the 2022 Senate candidacy of Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman, a different white woman said that voters should temporarily forget about their economic concerns and vote on social issues.

“We’re not loaded or anything, but I know that we’re going to be okay. We need to vote not just on the economy but on other issues that are really important to us right now, like reproductive freedom and the environment,” she said.

A third ad supported Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign and accused Donald Trump of mishandling the COVID-19 hysteria and reacting too harshly to rioters after the death of George Floyd.

Media Panics that 2 Lawyers on Trump Jury Might Understand the Actual Law

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The inclusion of two New York lawyers on the jury for former President Donald Trump’s trial might unsettle some on the left.

Why? Because these lawyers could potentially scrutinize Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s questionable legal framework to charge Trump.

This selection might work in Trump’s favor during the trial, countering allegations made by Bragg regarding alleged payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal.

Bragg is basing his prosecution of alleged falsified business records for these payments on a legal theory that has left many, including legal expert Jonathan Turley and former Attorney General Bill Barr, scratching their heads.

Currently, the trial is in jury selection, with seven jurors already chosen (including the two lawyers). According to Politico, one serves as a civil litigator at a prominent white-shoe law firm, while the other is a corporate lawyer.

These legal professionals could arrive at conclusions akin to those of Barr and Turley. “Bragg released an indictment that was so vague on key elements that it is unclear what the grand jury thought it was voting on,” Turley wrote in a New York Post op-ed.

“He vaguely referenced state and federal election laws and later refused to add any details on how they relate to the prosecution,” he added.

Similarly, Barr, far from a Trump enthusiast, labeled the case an “abomination” and “political.”

During an interview with Fox News, Barr stated, “I’ve said from the beginning this case is an abomination, it’s obviously political. Seven years after he pays hush money to try to come up with this case.”

He added: “It’s not only farfetched. They are trying to predicate it on a federal crime which wasn’t prosecuted. They are wrong about it. This was not a campaign contribution. They are just wrong on the law.”

At the crux of Bragg’s claims is the assertion that Trump participated in payments to aid his 2016 presidential campaign.

In filing these charges, Bragg asserts that Trump violated federal election laws by not declaring the payments to Daniels and McDougal as campaign expenses. However, Trump has never faced charges under any federal election laws regarding these payments.

In fact, Trump goes a step further, denying ever having had any form of intimate relationship with either woman.

The case underwent a federal investigation and then passed through the Manhattan District Attorney’s office under Bragg’s predecessor, Cyrus Vance Jr., who ultimately opted not to prosecute Trump.

Vance Jr. retired in 2021, paving the way for Bragg to campaign on the promise of indicting Trump—an action he followed through on, becoming the first prosecutor ever to file charges against a former president.
