“Look I never had an ambition to be president or vice president,” he began. “I was honored to be asked.”
Walz continued that if he felt like it were possible he would do it.
“If I feel like I can serve, I will. And if nationally, people are, like, ‘Dude, we tried you, and look how that worked out,’ I’m good with that,” the Democrat governor said.
“If I think I could offer something . . . I would certainly consider that,” he continued. “I’m also, though, not arrogant enough to believe there’s a lot of people that can do this.”
Social media users could not contain their laughter over the idea of Walz running for the presidency.
“That is going to be entertaining,” one X user wrote. “The meme material will be overwhelming.”
Journalist Miranda Devine said Walz might as well attempt to run.
“Haha! Talk about delusional. Go for it, Tim. Eyes on the prize!” she wrote.
Others poked fun at Walz over potential slogans.
“His campaign slogan will be *make boys have tampons again*,” one wrote, referencing how the governor previously signed a law which forced public schools to provided menstrual products to all students in 4th through 12th grades.
Since former Vice President Kamala Harris’s disastrous campaign, Walz told The New Yorker the two have only spoke “a couple times.” He noted that both are busy with their current jobs.
“Well, maybe she doesn’t want to talk to me after we got this thing done,” Walz added. “No, I think it’s just there’ll be a time and a place. But we left good, and my family misses her.”
(Clint Siegner, Money Metals News Service) There aren’t too many upsides to the widespread loss in confidence currently underway. It would be far better if major institutions were trustworthy, competent, and efficiently run. But fixing these institutions first requires recognition of the problems.
The people who spent all of their time marginalizing gold bugs as nutjobs and conspiracy theorists are starting to find themselves out on the fringe.
It suddenly makes sense to vast swathes of Americans to question whether long-held assumptions are true. It’s the people who implicitly trust what they have been told by bureaucrats and bankers who look a little silly.
The veil is slipping. Gold and silver investors should be ready for some interesting revelations and, perhaps, changes in the metals markets.
They should also beware of “experts” still clinging to conventional wisdom. Now is the time for questions, not blind trust.
The following assumptions are foolish. Those who defend them are naive at best, or they may have some stake in preserving the status quo.
FOOLISH ASSUMPTION #1 – There are no problems with decades-old audits of the U.S. gold reserves, including the bars in Fort Knox, and it’s unreasonable to ask for a new audit that also examines encumbrances.
The best reason to do a comprehensive audit of U.S. gold is that bureaucrats desperately want to avoid it. They resist all efforts for a new inventory and assay of each and every bar.

There are three possibilities with regards to the U.S. gold reserves. The worst case is that some of the gold is missing.
Another possibility is that the U.S. gold has been leased, or otherwise encumbered and it is no longer 100% available to the U.S. Treasury.
The best case is the gold is all there and it is unencumbered, but much of it is in the form of coin melt (90% pure) bars, which are illiquid (as the bullion markets require much higher purity).
Anyone who still trusts what officials have told them and ridicules the idea of a thorough audit, in this day and age, is a moron. It is high time to go through the gold with a fine-toothed comb. Audits are never “one and done” anyway.
FOOLISH ASSUMPTION #2 – Price manipulation is not a problem in the metals markets.
A number of major bullion banks, including JPMorgan Chase, pleaded guilty to widespread price rigging not long ago. The Department of Justice nailed them, even though the CFTC had not.
There are thousands of documents, chat logs, and voice recordings featuring traders colluding with their peers at other traders at other banks to manipulate prices and stick it to their own clients.
That was the moment it became completely untenable for anyone to assert the gold and silver markets are free and fair. The “conspiracy theory” is now officially a conspiracy fact.
A valid question to examine is whether the manipulation that occurs is merely situational or systemic – and who is involved.
Further, it is more than a little naive to believe compromised federal regulators and DOJ officials were either willing or able to root out this corruption among the most powerful and well-connected banks in the world.
A more informed view is that it can be hard to get a fair shake when playing in the highly leveraged casino that is the futures market.
FOOLISH ASSUMPTION #3 – The Federal Reserve must maintain its independence.
Americans have been told for more than 100 years it is vital for our central bank to operate on its own. We must somehow trust that Fed officials have the best interests of Americans at heart.
This despite clear evidence the Fed’s true mandate is to take care of the Wall Street banks that literally own the Federal Reserve. This includes the massive bank bailouts in 2008, which benefitted executives displaying horrific judgement and in some cases perpetrated fraud.
It’s highly questionable to insist there is wisdom in an “independent” (read unaccountable) Fed. Those claiming the central bank’s token efforts at transparency are adequate either aren’t serious or aren’t honest. They should read “End the Fed” by Ron Paul.
The truth is that the Fed is a black box funneling trillions of dollars around. Who still thinks that is a good idea?

Matthew Brian Crooks and Mary Elizabeth Crooks both received their professional counseling licenses in March 2002, and have been renewing them ever since—until now. The expiration date for both parents to renew their licenses was Friday. Now, their status is listed as expired on the Pennsylvania Licensing Verification Service’s registry.

The Crooks parents have been tight-lipped about their son’s alleged July 13 crimes.
Citing the parents’ neighbors, the New York Postreported last week that they only leave the house at 3 a.m. to buy groceries.
“We never see them,” a neighbor who did not want to be identified reportedly told The Post. “They come out to do their grocery shopping at 3 am. It’s eerie. But it frightened me to death at the time. I thought, how could they not know what their son was up to in that house?”
Last August, it was revealed that Matthew and Mary hired the Pittsburgh-based Quinn Logue, which reportedly describes itself as trial attorneys who specialize in both criminal defense and civil suits, including wrongful death and personal injury.
“The FBI still very much has questions about how much they knew and how he slipped through the net,” an unnamed family member told the Daily Mail last year. The family member also reportedly revealed that the father is a gun enthusiast who has sold firearms to relatives in the past.
Crooks’s father reportedly owned the gun used to wound Trump, kill a firefighter, and hospitalize at least two others.
Crooks reportedly told his dad that he was taking the AR-15 to the gun range, but instead went to the Butler rally.
After the shooting, Matthew Crooks told law enforcement that his son’s mental health began to decline soon after he graduated community college.
“Crooks’ father explained that within the last year, he observed several instances of his son dancing in his bedroom throughout the night,” states a Pennsylvania State Police report, a small excerpt of which was included in the Task Force’s final report.
“He would occasionally see Crooks talking to himself with his hands moving, which he expressed as uncommon and had become more prevalent after he had finished his last semester at Community College.”
The FBI also investigated whether Crooks used his parents’ house to make the purported explosives found in his vehicle. Local sniper Ben Shaffer, who was involved in the security at the Trump shooting, said at a press conference last year that the explosives were “possibly” made at the Crooks household, where the gunman lived.
The FBI later said that the bomb-making materials found in Thomas’s bedroom weren’t odorous, and therefore the parents probably wouldn’t have smelled them, according to the House Task Force final report.
A grand jury was opened in the Western District of Pennsylvania, but no charges have been filed.

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called out CBS host Margaret Brennan on Sunday over the legacy media’s role in downplaying the economic turmoil under the Biden administration while suddenly sounding the alarm now that Donald Trump is president.
Brennan—who has repeatedly been criticized for regurgitating leftist talking points on her Face the Nation show—asked Bessent about Americans’ concerns over the economy. She specifically pressed Bessent on when Americans would begin to see the benefits of Trump’s economic agenda.
Bessent was taken aback. For years, the legacy media dismissed Americans’ sentiments about the economy, claiming the economy was somehow booming thanks to former President Joe Biden.
“What I find interesting is, for the past year and a half—and during the campaign—most of the media said, ‘Oh, the economy is great…’ Now that President Trump is in office, there’s an ‘economic problem,’” Bessent said.
“We were pretty straightforward on this program, sir,” Brennan falsely interjected in her typical dismissive tone.
Bessent outlined what the Trump administration is doing to undo some of the Biden-era restrictions that Republicans argue put the economy in a chokehold.
“We are in the process of deregulating, which will free the supply side, and we are cutting back the government spending,” he stated. “It took four years to get us here. President Trump’s been in office five weeks.”
“What I will point out interest rates—the 10-year bond, which I am focused on—have been down every week since President Trump was president. Mortgage rates have been down every week so that’s a pretty good start,” he added.
Bessent also discussed the failed economic agreement between Ukraine and the U.S., which went sideways after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attempted to challenge both Trump and Vice President JD Vance during a viral Oval Office meeting on Friday.
“We were already set up to sign the deal,” Bessent said, clarifying that the agreement is now uncertain due to Zelenskyy’s attitude.

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) The number of foreign nationals apprehended entering the U.S. illegally reached its lowest level in recorded history in February.
Last month, only 8,326 apprehensions and encounters were reported at the southwest border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced, “the lowest documented by U.S. Border Patrol.”
That’s down from 189,913 in February 2024, 156,630 in February 2023 and 166,010 in February 2022, excluding those who illegally entered and evaded capture, according to CBP data.
In just the first 10 days of the Trump administration, apprehensions dropped by 85% between ports of entry at the southwest border and 93% at ports of entry as a result of policies implemented by the Trump administration.
On his first day in office, Trump issued multiple executive orders to secure U.S. borders, including declaring an invasion, a national emergency at both the southwest and northern borders, and directed the U.S. military to assist with apprehensions and deportations, The Center Square reported.
“The mission is clear: secure the border, enforce the law, and protect American sovereignty,” CBP said.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, “February was the lowest month in recorded history for encounters at our border. The world is hearing our message: do not come to our country illegally. If you do, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back.”
She made the announcement after she issued warnings to those in the country illegally and abroad in several ad campaigns that are currently running, The Center Square reported.
In them, she explains that those in the country illegally have the opportunity to self-deport and potentially return in the future. If they don’t, she said, “you will never return.”
In response to the news, Trump issued a statement on Truth Social, stating, in “the month of February, my first full month in office, had the lowest number of illegal immigrants trying to enter our country in history – BY FAR! There were only 8,326 apprehensions of illegals by Border Patrol at the US-Mexico border, all of whom were quickly ejected from our nation or, when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States of America.
“Thanks to Trump administration policies, the border is closed to all illegal immigrants. Anyone who tries to illegally enter the USA will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation.”
CBP made the announcement after a record 14 million illegal border crossers from over 160 countries, including more than two million gotaways, were reported under the Biden administration, The Center Square exclusively reported.
According to CBP data, this fiscal year through January, the majority attempting to illegally enter are single adults of more than 208,000; followed by more than 126,000 individuals claiming to be in family units, and more than 23,000 unaccompanied minors.
Notably, the number of children arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border has plummeted under the Trump administration.
Numerous reports indicate that the children were smuggled to the U.S. under the guise of reconnecting with a family member and not safeguarded by a federal program designed to oversee their care once they were in the U.S., The Center Square reported. Under the Biden administration, children were sent to live with unvetted sponsors who weren’t family members and were unknown to them, including gang members and alleged sex and labor traffickers, The Center Square reported.
Additionally, the Biden administration lost track of them, congressional investigators found, resulting in congressional subpoenas, investigations and multiple hearings.
The Trump administration has prioritized finding them. Trump’s border czar Tom Homan has made it a priority to find more than “300,000 children that were smuggled into this country at the hands of criminal cartels” under the Biden administration, The Center Square reported.
(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Some Democratic Party members convened in February to discuss revamping the party to win elections. Ironically, their new vision aligns closely with the powerful and influential MAGA movement.
The retreat took place at a “tony resort” off the Potomac River and was attended by Democratic consultants, campaign staffers, elected officials and party leaders, Politico reportedSunday.
According to internal documents, among their recommendations were that Democrats should embrace “patriotism,” ditch leftist seminars and even attend gun shows. These are traits traditionally associated with President Donald Trump’s Republican Party.

These recommendations come in the wake of Trump and Republicans sweeping the 2024 elections—winning the White House, regaining control of the Senate and maintaining a conservative majority in the House. In addition, conservatives hold a comfortable majority in the Supreme Court, with three justices appointed by Trump.
Commentators believe the Democratic Party’s humiliating defeat this past November was fueled by their embrace of unpopular policies, such as open borders and radical gender ideology, and their overall antagonism toward conservative Americans.
At the retreat, Democrats sought to address these issues by focusing on messaging and the economy and doing less identity politics.
According to Politico, party officials also recommended they disassociate themselves from institutions like academia, the legacy media and government bureaucrats.
Other recommendations included:
Embracing “patriotism, community, and traditional imagery.”
Banning “far-left candidate questionnaires.”
Refusing “to participate in forums that create ideological purity tests.”
Moving “away from the dominance of small-dollar donors whose preferences may not align with the broader electorate.”
Pushing “back against far-left staffers and groups that exert a disproportionate influence on policy and messaging”
Getting “out of elite circles and into real communities (e.g., tailgates, gun shows, local restaurants, churches).”
Owning “the failures of Democratic governance in large cities” and committing “to improving local government.”
It is unclear who exactly attended the day-and-a-half retreat, which was hosted by Matt Bennett, the co-founder of center-left think tank Third Way.
Also uncertain is whether Democrats will adopt these measures and whether they represent genuine changes or merely tactical moves to win elections before reverting to their old ways once in power.
“I have signed a declaration to use emergency authorities to expedite the delivery of approximately $4 billion in military assistance to Israel,” Rubio said in a statement.
He claimed that President Biden had imposed a “partial arms embargo” on Israel, although Biden provided more military aid to Israel in a single year than any US president in history.
“The decision to reverse the Biden Administration’s partial arms embargo, which wrongly withheld a number of weapons and ammunition from Israel, is yet another sign that Israel has no greater ally in the White House than President Trump,” Rubio said.
Rubio said that since President Trump came into office on January 20, his administration has approved $12 billion in arms deals for Israel. “The Trump Administration will continue to use all available tools to fulfill America’s long-standing commitment to Israel’s security, including means to counter security threats,” he said.
The statement came a day after the statement department approved three separate arms deals for Israel worth nearly $3 billion, which includes a huge number of 2,000-pound bombs. The biggest sale, which will likely be funded by US military aid, includes 35,529 MK-84 or BLU-117 2,000-pound bombsand 4,000 I-2000 Penetrator warheads.
The second arms deal approved on Friday includes 5,000 1,000-pound bombs and 1,500 JDAM kits to turn the munitions into guided bombs, worth $675 million. A third sale is for $300 million worth of Caterpillar D9 Bulldozers, which Israel uses to demolish Palestinian homes in Gaza and the West Bank.
When approving the three deals on Friday, the State Department claimed it was an “emergency” and bypassed Congress.
“The Secretary of State has determined and provided detailed justification that an emergency exists that requires the immediate sale to the Government of Israel of the above defense articles and defense services in the national security interests of the United States, thereby waiving the Congressional review requirements under Section 36(b) of the Arms Export Control Act,” the Pentagon said.
(Deroy Murdock, Headline USA) President Donald J. Trump and Department of Government Efficiency chief Elon Musk are trying to right-size the entire federal enterprise, just as companies — large and small — do daily.
Democrats are having none of it. Indeed, their rage over DOGE knows no borders.
“Donald Trump has turned the White House into The Elon Musk Show,” House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York complained this week on the Capitol steps. “It’s a malignant clown show. Nothing that is being done — nothing — is actually making life better for the American people. They are trying to take affirmative steps to make life worse.”
Meanwhile, journalist Joe Gallina asked Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D – Texas), “If you could speak directly to Elon Musk, what would you say?”
Profanity would be an improvement at Musk-owned Tesla dealerships in California, Colorado, and Oregon. They have endured anti-Musk graffiti, vandalism, arson, and even gunfire. “Mostly peaceful” bullets have shattered the windows of Tesla facilities in recent weeks.
Despite this acrimony and political violence, the American people stand with Trump, Musk, and DOGE. A February 24 Harvard-Harris survey of 2,443 registered voters found that 76% favor “Undertaking a full-scale effort to find and eliminate fraud and waste in government expenditures.” Only 24% disagree.
Americans are righteously indignant about Washington, D.C. treating their hard-earned tax dollars like boys-room tampons:
DOGE reports that the Department of Health and Human Services paid a non-profit called Family Endeavors $18 million per month since March 2024 to manage an empty immigration facility in Pecos, Texas. That’s $180 million, through December 31, to run a vacant space.
A mysterious “climate” group called Power Forward Communities, tied to failed Democrat gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams of Georgia, declared 2023 income of $100. Regardless, Team Biden last year handed PFC a whopping $2 billionEPA grant. “That’s 20 million timesthe organization’s reported revenue,” said EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin.
USAID distributed $2 billion in Haiti-related grants. “Only 2% of the 2 billion went to where it was supposed to,” Fox News host Jesse Watters said Tuesday. “Half of it went to all of these aid groups based around DC,” he added. “Are liberals just stealing from poor black people and calling it compassion?”
Graft aside, Washington exhibits basic mismanagement and mind-blowing incompetence.
“The FAA is using floppy disks to manage some of their systems,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy revealed. “This is ancient technology,” he added. “It costs $0.90 of every dollar to maintain these really old systems.”
Rather than scream, “Resist!” Democrats should concede that Trump, Musk, and DOGE are right about these indefensible federal failures. Having Washington’s computers operate as if the Internet never lived, and keypunch cards never died, serves neither free-spending liberals nor free-market conservatives.
Helping, rather than hindering, DOGE excise federal excesses and self-humiliating deficiencies would make Democrats far easier to take seriously when they urge Republicans to think twice before cutting programs that accomplish something.
The National Institutes of Health battles the forced march into twilight known as Alzheimer’s. DOGE sacked 10% of the 100-member Center for Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia, including lead researcher Kendall Van Keuren-Jensen. While CARD should survive a 10% staff reduction, Democrats, and some Republicans, would argue that accelerating treatments and cures for this crippling mental ailment would buoy Alzheimer’s victims and reduce public-health expenditures.
Trump and DOGE would be more sympathetic to such pleas, if Democrats first said, “We agree: It was stupid to spend USAID money to jet Ukrainian designers and models to Paris Fashion Week. Ditto $2 million squandered on Moroccan pottery classes. Let’s recover those funds. Now, will you agree to keep CARD properly staffed, so we can send Alzheimer’s the way of polio and smallpox?”
Defending federal dysfunction is a losing proposition. If Democrats want to champion anything that Washington gets right, they should admit that Trump, Musk, and DOGE are uncovering billions of dollars in federal wrongs.

Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday that he is running for mayor of New York City, relaunching his political career following a yearslong exile over a barrage of sexual harassment accusations. Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s Justice Department hasn’t indicated whether it will pursue House Republicans’ calls to prosecute Cuomo for lying to Congress.
In a 17-minute video, Cuomo pitched himself as an accomplished moderate who can save a city he described as threatening and “out of control,” and is capable of navigating the delicate balance between working with Republican President Donald Trump and fighting him, when necessary.
“I am not saying this is going to be easy. It won’t be easy, but I know we can turn the city around, and I believe I can help,” he said.
The Democrat is expected to mount a formidable campaign, despite entering the race deeply wounded by the scandal that forced his resignation as governor in 2021.
He takes on a large field of primary opponents with low name recognition plus an incumbent, Mayor Eric Adams, who — for now — remains under indictment on federal corruption charges and under scrutiny from critics who question his independence from Trump.
Cuomo brings fundraising prowess, a record of accomplishments over three terms as governor and potential support among moderate voters who helped propel Adams to office.
Yet it is unclear whether voters are willing to give Cuomo another chance following his remarkable downfall, when he went from being hailed for his leadership during the onslaught of COVID-19 to being castigated for his behavior with women and questioned about his pandemic response.
House Republicans have gone as far as to call for the Justice Department to prosecute Cuomo. The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic sent a criminal referral for Cuomo to the DOJ last October, recommending that he be charged with making false statements to Congress.
“In an apparent effort to shield himself from accountability, evidence suggests Mr. Cuomo knowingly and willfully made false statements to the Select Subcommittee on numerous occasions about material aspects of New York’s COVID-19 nursing home disaster and the ensuing cover-up,” the Coronavirus Subcommittee said in a press release.
According to the subcommittee, evidence shows that Cuomo reviewed, edited, and even drafted portions of a purportedly independent and peer-reviewed New York State Department of Health report, which was used to support his deadly pandemic-era nursing home policies.
However, Cuomo told the subcommittee in his June transcribed interview that he had nothing to do with that report. Cuomo’s lie is why the subcommittee wanted him criminally charged.

“Andrew Cuomo repeatedly lied to Congress, and he must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Both witness testimony and new documents serve as evidence that the former Governor made false statements to the Select Subcommittee during our COVID-19 nursing home investigation,” subcommittee Chairman Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, said in a press release.
“This deliberate and self-serving attempt to avoid accountability for the thousands of lives lost in New York nursing homes during the pandemic will not stand. If his prior criminal activity is any reflection, Andrew Cuomo is not a man of principle, and his willingness to lie to the Select Subcommittee is unfortunately a continuance of this behavior,” he added.
“Plain and simple, making false statements to Congress is a federal crime.”

(Kyle Anzalone, Antiwar.com) The White House is considering ending all aid transfers, including weapons, to Ukraine after an Oval Office press conference turned into an argumentbetween President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Ukrainian President Zelensky.
According to The Washington Post, “The Trump administration is considering ending all ongoing shipments of military aid to Ukraine in response to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks in the Oval Office on Friday and his perceived intransigence in the peace process.”
If the aid is terminated, Ukraine would not receive billions of dollars in weapons from the US, including missiles and ammunition that was approved through the Presidential Drawdown Authority.
The New York Times reported that weapons deliveries to Ukraine have “slowed to a trickle” even before Friday’s heated exchange. However, Trump is now considering cutting off other support to Kiev.
“The president might decide to end even the indirect support being provided by the US,” the outlet explained. “Which includes other types of military financing, intelligence sharing, training for Ukrainian troops and pilots, and hosting a call center that manages international aid at a US military base in Germany.”
Following the White House clash between Trump, Vance, and Zelensky, NBC News reported the administration was also cutting non-military aid to Ukraine. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ended the Ukraine Energy Security Project, which provides Kiev with hundreds of millions of dollars to attempt to repair the country’s energy grid.
According to the outlet, other programs could be eliminated. “In addition to ending the Ukraine Energy Security Project, USAID is also dramatically downsizing its presence in Ukraine,” NBC News explained.
