Jewish Groups Demand Funding, Internet Censorship at House Antisemitism Hearing

(José Niño, Headline USA) Jewish advocacy organizations called for a major boost in security funding and new internet regulations at a congressional hearing on antisemitism this past Wednesday.

During this hearing, Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the American Jewish Committee called for increased funding, greater internet regulation, and the expansion of pre-crime initiatives—all in the interest of “Jewish safety.”

 

Oren Segal, the Senior Vice President of Counter-Extremism and Intelligence of the ADL set the tone for the hearing by stating, “online platforms like Telegram, among others, enable foreign terrorist organizations to share and promote their propaganda to thousands across the US and around the globe.”

 

Segal went on to claim, “Groups like Samidoun, Unity of Fields and even some Students for Justice in Palestine chapters have crossed a dangerous line amplifying terrorist propaganda. And some of those groups are even supported by fiscal sponsors with little oversight.”

According to Information Liberation, Segal called for Congress to implement the five following steps:

  1. Increase funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to protect at risk houses of worship, schools and community centers.
  2. Invest in community-based violence prevention such as DHS’s CP3.
  3. Empower the [Trump administration’s] Interagency Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, ensuring it has a mandate and resources to coordinate across federal agencies.
  4. Pass the Antisemitism Awareness Act and the Holocaust Education and Antisemitism Lessons Act to strengthen the accountability in our education system.
  5. And finally address hate on our digital platforms by enforcing transparency and cracking down on violations of material support laws.

A recurring theme at the hearing was the call for laws banned “material support” to designated terror groups to be applied against critics of Israel.

James Carafano, the Senior Counselor to the President and E.W. Richardson Fellow Heritage Foundation, supported the ADL’s argument that “material support” laws should be used to target Israel’s critics.

 

The American Jewish Committee’s Julie Fishman Rayman echoed this sentiment.

Rayman informed the hearing that Jews feel “the political right and the political left represent an equal anti-Semitic threat.”

She insisted that this threat necessitates “a robust government response.”

 

While Republicans at the hearing sought to emphasize the dangers from the “far left,” Rayman was careful to point out that the “far right” and “Christian nationalists” are just as dangerous.

Rayman also maintained that Jews paying for their own security constitutes a “Jewish tax.”

She urged Congress to provide “at least $500 million” to protect Jewish organizations through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), to fund pre-crime programs, and to “reform” Section 230 in order to censor the internet.

Jewish organizations have largely dominated these grants for years, with Jewish NGOs receiving 97% of NSGP grants in 2012. In this year, Jewish organizations are requesting an unprecedented $1 billion for “Jewish safety,” per the Jewish News Syndicate.

U.S. Negotiations w/ Iran Were Reportedly a Ruse as Israel Prepared to Strike

(José Niño, Headline USA) Exclusive reporting by Axios has exposed a startling contradiction between the Trump administration’s public and private positions on Israel’s recent attack on Iran.

According to the Axios report, which cited two senior Israeli officials, President Donald Trump was “only pretending to oppose an Israeli attack in public” while privately giving Israel a U.S. green light to proceed.

The operation, known as “Operation Rising Lion,” targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, ballistic missile infrastructure, and senior military and scientific personnel, including high-ranking Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders. It was described by officials as Israel’s most significant military action against Iran to date, with the aim of crippling Tehran’s nuclear program and military capabilities.

In the days leading up to the attack, Trump made multiple public statements urging restraint. “I don’t want [Israel] going in,” he told reporters, adding that an attack would “blow up” ongoing nuclear negotiations. He warned that an Israeli strike could jeopardize diplomatic talks scheduled for the weekend.

However, Israeli officials now claim these statements were part of a calculated strategy to deceive Iran and prevent Iranian personnel from fleeing to secure locations before the attack.

A Monday phone call between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, initially portrayed as an effort to restrain Israel, was actually about coordinating actions before the attack, according to the officials.

Netanyahu’s aides reportedly briefed journalists that Trump was trying to slow down the strike, a move that Israeli sources now describe as intentionally misleading. The officials assert that Trump was fully aware of and approved the operation, which had been planned for eight months, according to an Axios report.

After the attack began, Trump’s tone shifted. He admitted to the Wall Street Journal that he and his team had foreknowledge about Israel’s plans to attack Iran. The Times of India reported that Trump described the operation as “excellent,” and warned, “more [operations] would come.” On his Truth Social platform, Trump blamed Iran for the escalation, writing: “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal.”

Despite these revelations, the Trump administration publicly maintained its distance. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Israel acted unilaterally and denied any U.S. involvement.

The administration issued an official statement on Thursday night clarifying,“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.”

“Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners,” Rubio added. “Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”

Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated in recent months, with rumors that the United States could potentially intervene to halt Iran’s nuclear program.

Authorities Won’t Release Suspected Political Assassin’s Manifesto

(Headline USA) Law enforcement continues to search for the man who allegedly posed as a police officer and fatally shot a Democratic state lawmaker and her husband in their suburban Minneapolis home in an apparent political assassination.

Meanwhile, authorities are suppressing information about the suspect, 57-year-old Vance Boelter. Minnesota officials said Saturday that they will not be releasing Boelter’s purported “manifesto,” which is rumored to contain a hit list of other public officials.

“It would be premature to say exactly what the motivation may be from these writings, but we’ll continue to work on that and provide the information when we’re able,” a Minnesota law enforcement official told reporters.

Former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were killed in their Brooklyn Park home early Saturday. Sen. John Hoffman, also a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, were injured at their Champlin address, about 9 miles away.

Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Hoffmans’ home shortly after 2 a.m., Champlin police said, and found the couple with multiple gunshot wounds.

After seeing who the victims were, police sent officers to proactively check on Hortman’s home. There they encountered what appeared to be a police vehicle and a man dressed as an officer at the door, leaving the house.

“When officers confronted him, the individual immediately fired upon the officers who exchanged gunfire, and the suspect retreated back into the home” and escaped on foot, Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said.

Multiple bullet holes could be seen in the front door of Hoffman’s home.

John and Yvette Hoffman each underwent surgery.

Hortman had reportedly just voted to cut public healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants. She was reportedly the only Democrat to vote with Republicans on that measure, which has led to speculation that her killing was retaliation.

The suspect

Boelter was appointed to the workforce development board in 2016 and then reappointed in 2019 to a four-year term that expired in 2023, state records show.

Corporate records show Boelter’s wife filed to create a company called Praetorian Guard Security Services LLC with the same Green Isle mailing address listed for the couple. Boelter’s wife is listed as president and CEO and he is listed as director of security patrols on the company’s website.

The website says the company provides armed security for property and events and features a photo of an SUV painted in a two-tone black and silver pattern similar to a police vehicle. Another photo shows a man in black tactical gear with a military-style helmet and a ballistic vest.

An online resume says Boelter is a security contractor who has worked in the Middle East and Africa, in addition to past managerial roles at companies in Minnesota.

Around 6 a.m., Boelter texted friends to say he had “made some choices,” the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.

In the messages, read to reporters by David Carlson, Boelter did not specify what he had done but said: “I’m going to be gone for a while. May be dead shortly, so I just want to let you know I love you guys both and I wish it hadn’t gone this way. … I’m sorry for all the trouble this has caused.”

Professional BLM Protester ID’d After Blocking Black Woman’s Commute at Anti-ICE Rally

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The two hecklers who blocked a black mother from heading to work while protesting President Donald Trump’s immigration policies have been identified as seasoned activists with a long record of disruptive demonstrations. 

Trevor Britvec, 36, and Karen Ramspacher, 60, were caught on video by journalist Savanah Hernandez blocking an intersection in New York City during an anti-ICE protest. They mocked a black woman who begged them to let her through as she was running late for work. 

The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that Britvec is the plaintiff in a major lawsuit against the city that paid him over $100,000 for alleged civil rights violations. Meanwhile, Ramspacher is a senior vice president of Innovation & Insights at the influential research firm MRI-Simmons. 

Both Britvec and Ramspacher came under fire after brushing off the mother’s pleas to clear the road, as she feared being fired. 

“What happens to my kid?” the mother asked. 

“I can’t help you,” Ramspacher replied. 

Hernandez, who was reporting live for Turning Point USA, asked the protestors how they felt about “stopping a black woman from going to work?” 

Britvec mocked the question: “Oh no, not work!” while Ramspacher looked away. The mother appeared shocked at the dismissive response. 

The smug exchange quickly went viral online. However, their dismissive behavior came as little surprise, given both individuals’ relatively comfortable financial situations and their long-standing activist résumés.

Ramspacher, who has been involved in protests since the 1980s, is listed as a senior executive on MRI-Simmons’s website. 

Public records show Britvec received $115,000 in 2024 from New York City taxpayers after he claimed the NYPD violated his civil rights when he was arrested at a Black Lives Matter protest in July 2020. 

In remarks to the Daily Mail, Ramspacher dismissed the backlash, insisting the clip misrepresented the protest. 

“That single video looks like it’s that person and me blocking traffic,” she claimed. “That’s not what it was. We were preventing the cars from driving into the marchers. There were at least 10,000 of them behind us.”

Foreign Pro-Gaza Protesters Shocked Egypt Doesn’t Play by Western Rules

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Hundreds of foreign pro-Palestine activists on Saturday were confronted with violence when they attempted to unlawfully cross the Egypt-Gaza border as part of the so-called March to Gaza demonstrations.  

The foreign nationals were in Egypt in a bid to reach Rafah, on Gaza’s southern border, to protest Israel’s military operations in the region.

Their goal was to set up a camp to pressure Israel into opening crossings for humanitarian aid into the Hamas-governed territory. However, the Egyptian government has not authorized the march.

The protest’s leading organization, Global March to Gaza, announced on Instagram that there had been “unprovoked violence against a peaceful global delegation.”  

“Due to escalating violence on the route, we urge all participants to make their way back to Cairo as soon as possible,” the group posted. “Marchers‘ safety comes first.”  

Videos of the clashes went viral on X, with many mocking the activists for expecting the same civil-rights protections they enjoy in the West.  

Some protesters were reportedly dragged by their hair and even forcefully shoved by individuals who pro-Palestine activists identified as residents and Egyptian police.

“Masked Egyptian officials are literally pulling Hamas loyalists by their hair to get them off the ground & out of their country,” wrote an X page called Leviathan, which had compiled many of the viral videos.

Egyptian authorities confiscated the passports of 40 “activists” at a security checkpoint near the border, several outlets reported.  

“This is a very shocking incident,” said organizer Melanie Schweizer from inside a bus, visibly sweating and nearly in tears. “We are in danger. This is an emergency. We need help.”  

Online commentators piled on, mocking the activists’ march as delusional.

Putin and Trump Discussed Middle East Tensions, Ukraine War in Phone Call

(Headline USA) Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump held a lengthy call Saturday to discuss the escalating situation in the Middle East and Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Trump in a posting on his Truth Social platform said they spent the bulk of their conversation focused on Israel’s ongoing attacks aimed at decapitating Iran’s nuclear program and Iran’s retaliatory strikes. But Trump said that he also pressed Putin to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.

“He feels, as do I, this war in Israel-Iran should end, to which I explained, his war should also end,” said Trump, who added the conversation went about an hour.

Putin foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov said Putin briefed Trump on his recent talks with the leaders of Iran and Israel and reiterated Russia’s proposal to seek mutually acceptable solutions on the Iranian nuclear issue.

“Vladimir Putin, having condemned the military operation against Iran, expressed serious concern about the possible escalation of the conflict,” Ushakov told reporters. He added that Putin raised concerns that escalating conflict between Israel and Iran threatened “unpredictable consequences for the entire situation in the Middle East.”

Putin also emphasized Russia’s readiness to carry out possible mediation efforts, and noted that Russia had proposed steps “aimed at finding mutually acceptable agreements” during U.S.-Iran negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.

The Russia-Iran relationship has deepened since Putin launched a war on Ukraine in February 2022, with Tehran providing Moscow with drones, ballistic missiles, and other support, according to U.S. intelligence findings.

“Russia’s principled approach and interest in the settlement remain unchanged,” Ushakov said.

Trump described the regional situation as “very alarming,” Ushakov said, but acknowledged the “effectiveness” of Israel’s strikes on targets in Iran.

The leaders did not rule out a possible return to negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, according to Ushakov.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff had been set to travel on Sunday to Oman for a sixth round of talks with Iranian officials aimed at curbing Tehran’s nuclear program — a meeting that was set before Israel launched strikes on Friday. But Oman’s foreign minister, Badr al-Busaidi, said on Saturday that the meeting would not take place as planned.

Putin and Trump also discussed the ongoing exchange of war prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. The two sides traded more prisoners on Saturday under an arrangement brokered during talks between the two sides in Istanbul earlier this month.

“Our president noted that an exchange of prisoners of war is taking place, including seriously wounded and prisoners of war under 25 years of age,” Ushakov said, along with expressing readiness to continue negotiations with the Ukrainians.

Trump said Putin also wished him “a Happy Birthday.” The U.S. leader turned 79 on Saturday.

Trump Curbs Immigration Enforcement at Farms, Meatpacking Plants, Hotels and Restaurants

(Headline USA) The Trump administration directed immigration officers to pause arrests at farms, restaurants and hotels, after President Donald Trump expressed alarm about the impact of aggressive enforcement, an official said Saturday.

The move follows weeks of increased enforcement since Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff and main architect of Trump’s immigration policies, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers would target at least 3,000 arrests a day, up from about 650 a day during the first five months of Trump’s second term.

Tatum King, an official with ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations unit, wrote regional leaders on Thursday to halt investigations of the agricultural industry, including meatpackers, restaurants and hotels, according to The New York Times.

A U.S. official who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed to The Associated Press the contents of the directive. The Homeland Security Department did not dispute it.

“We will follow the President’s direction and continue to work to get the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens off of America’s streets,” Tricia McLaughlin, a Homeland Security spokesperson, said when asked to confirm the directive.

The shift suggests Trump’s promise of mass deportations has limits if it threatens industries that rely on workers in the country illegally.

Trump posted on his Truth Social site Thursday that he disapproved of how farmers and hotels were being affected.

“Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” he wrote. “In many cases the Criminals allowed into our Country by the VERY Stupid Biden Open Borders Policy are applying for those jobs. This is not good. We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA. Changes are coming!”

While ICE’s presence in Los Angeles has captured public attention and prompted Trump to deploy the California National Guard and Marines, immigration authorities have also been a growing presence at farms and factories across the country.

Farm bureaus in California say raids at packinghouses and fields are threatening businesses that supply much of the country’s food. Dozens of farmworkers were arrested after uniformed agents fanned out on farms northwest of Los Angeles in Ventura County, which is known for growing strawberries, lemons and avocados. Others are skipping work as fear spreads.

ICE made more than 70 arrests Tuesday at a food packaging company in Omaha, Nebraska. The owner of Glenn Valley Foods said the company was enrolled in a voluntary program to verify workers’ immigration status and that it was operating at 30% capacity as it scrambled to find replacements.

Tom Homan, the White House border czar, has repeatedly said ICE will send officers into communities and workplaces, particularly in “sanctuary” jurisdictions that limit the agency’s access to local jails.

Sanctuary cities “will get exactly what they don’t want, more officers in the communities and more officers at the work sites,” Homan said Monday on Fox News Channel. “We can’t arrest them in the jail, we’ll arrest them in the community. If we can’t arrest them in community, we’re going to increase work site enforcement operation. We’re going to flood the zone.”

Florida is First State to Launch Program to Protect ICE Officers

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) Florida is the first state to have law enforcement protect U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

After ICE officers were doxed in California and the lives of officers and their families were threatened, and attacks against ICE increased by 413% in recent weeks, Florida is taking action.

Attorney General James Uthmeier warned potential rioters and doxers that violence and intimidation against ICE and federal agents won’t be tolerated in Florida.

“Florida is the anti-riot state, and unlike California, we support law enforcement,” Uthmeier said at a news conference. “Border Patrol and ICE agents enforcing immigration law deserve protection from leftists trying to harm them. If the left doxes these agents, we will have their backs. Whether you make the poor choice to riot or publish an agent’s personal information online to bring harm, you are committing a crime in Florida. We will find you and hold you accountable.”

Doxxing is the publicizing of names, addresses and other information about individuals with the intent to cause them harm. Doxing federal officers is against the law and the Justice Department is prosecuting doxers. ICE is asking members of the public to report doxing by calling, 866-DHS-2-ICE.

“Peaceful protest is part of our democracy and when it’s done right, we will make sure you have a safe environment to do it in,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said. He warned potential rioters, “If you resist lawful orders, you’re going to jail. If you block an intersection or roadway in Brevard County, you are going to jail. If you flee arrest, you’re going to go to jail tired. If you try to mob rule a car in Brevard County, you’re most likely going to get run over. If you spit on us, you’re going to the hospital. If you hit one of us, you’re going to the hospital and jail and most likely get bitten by one of our big, beautiful dogs,” The Center Square reported.

“If you throw a brick, a fire bomb, or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at because we will kill you graveyard dead. We’re not going to play. This has got to stop,” he said.

Florida Highway Patrol Colonel Gary Howze also said, “The only sanctuaries in Florida are to protect animals, not criminals. Florida is not a sanctuary state.”

Uthmeier has directed Florida Highway Patrol troopers to partner with federal law enforcement to ensure that if any federal officer in Florida has private information leaked online by a doxer, they will have a direct line of communication with FHP leadership. FHP troopers are also conducting routine welfare checks on federal officers’ residences to ensure their safety and their family’s safety, he said.

In response, ICE said, “We sincerely appreciate our partnerships – including the very strong relationship with Florida law enforcement!”

Florida is the first state in the country to be assigned a 287(g) liaison officer by ICE, which provides a direct line of communication between ICE and state and local law enforcement.

Florida leads the U.S. in the number of agencies partnering with the Trump administration through 287(g), a federal program that authorizes ICE to delegate to state and local law enforcement officers the authority to perform specified immigration functions only under ICE’s direction and supervision. Local law enforcement officers can apply to participate in the Jail Enforcement Model (JEM), Task Force Model (TFM) and Warrant Service Officer (WSO) model, The Center Square reported.

Florida is the only state to have every county sheriff’s office (67) participating in at least one 287(g) program; many counties are participating in all three.

Florida has the greatest number of police departments (now at 118) that have signed MOAs with ICE, all joining the TFM, according to ICE data as of June 11.

In addition to the Florida Department of Corrections, correctional facilities in Jackson, Miami Dade, Orange, Osceola and Volusia counties are also participating.

Florida also has the greatest number of state agencies participating, so far eight, with another pending, in addition to the Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard.

Florida’s the only state to have universities and boards of trustees participating, so far nine, with two more with pending applications.

Florida is the only state to have county board of commissioners participating, from Gulf and Pasco counties.

Florida is the only state to have airport police departments participating: Melbourne International Airport and Sanford Airport; Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority’s application is pending.

ICE is calling on other states to follow Florida’s lead. Training is free and federal grants are also made available, The Center Square reported.

Medical Director Calls for End of ‘Dangerous’ Gender-Affirming Care for Minors

(Tate Miller, The Center Square) A group that opposed gender-affirming care for minors says the treatments are harmful and permanent, and is calling for the practice to end in the U.S. should be ended in the U.S.

A report – released by Do No Harm and written by its medical director, Dr. Kurt Miceli – debunks popular beliefs concerning gender-affirming care for minors, such as the idea that it improves quality of life and mental health or that it decreases suicides.

Do No Harm is an organization of “physicians, nurses, medical students, patients, and policymakers focused on keeping identity politics out of medical education, research, and clinical practice,” according to its website.

“The evidence behind these sex trait modifications is extremely weak, while the danger posed is extremely great,” Miceli wrote, calling for an end to gender-affirming care.

Gender-affirming care is “destroying the lives of countless youths through social affirmation, hormonal manipulation, and surgical removal of healthy body parts,” Miceli wrote.

Miceli told The Center Square that “the risks associated with so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ are extensive, spanning from psychological to physical.”

“Individuals may come to later grapple with regret and unresolved mental health challenges, particularly given many of the irreversible effects from these interventions,” Miceli said.

“Additionally, infertility, sexual dysfunction, and cardiovascular disease are among the serious side effects linked to pediatric medical transition,” Miceli said.

“Surgical procedures carry significant risks, especially given their permanent effect and potential complications,” Miceli said.

Proponents argue the opposite, that such practices as subscribing puberty blockers and hormone therapy can help improve the mental health of minors.

But Miceli told The Center Square that, “without a doubt, we need to do more to protect children with gender dysphoria from these unproven and dangerous practices.”

Miceli said that “much can be done to protect children from the harms of ‘gender-affirming care.’”

“Many states have taken legislative action to end these practices in minors and the House recently passed the ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill,’ which ends all federal funding for pediatric medical transition,” Miceli said.

“Additionally, medical associations in the United States must move past ideology and recognize the lack of evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of these interventions in minors,” Miceli said.

Miceli further told The Center Square that, “as documented in the Stop the Harm database, from 2019 to 2023, nearly 14,000 minors underwent some form of pediatric medical transition whether with puberty blockers, hormones, or surgeries.”

“Of those, more than 5,700 underwent surgery,” Miceli said. “These figures represent young lives deeply affected by the consequences of gender ideology.”

“As a society, we must do better for our children and adolescents by ending these harmful, experimental practices,” Miceli said.

A May 2025 review by the United States Health and Human Services found nearly identical findings as Do No Harm did about gender-affirming care for minors: “the science and evidence do not support [the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries], and the risks cannot be ignored.”

The American Principles Project (APP) – a pro-family organization –  is also in agreement that gender-affirming care for minors is harmful.

APP’s President Terry Schilling told The Center Square that “Big Pharma and the radical left have been pushing our children to receive ‘gender-affirming’ care that is extremely detrimental to their bodies and well-being so they can make a quick buck.”

“We have been fighting to protect our children from the Gender Industrial Complex and thankfully, President Trump has become a champion on their behalf,” Schilling said.

Schilling also noted how Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill “strips federal funding for these dangerous practices.”

Schilling told The Center Square “we are working with the Senate to ensure that we put an end to this madness.”

Around the same time as Do No Harm’s report calling for the end of gender-affirming care in minors, it was announced that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will soon be closing its transgender programs for minors, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Trump Kicks Off Military Parade as Dems Screech ‘North Korea’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Donald Trump knocked it out of the park with a grandiose military parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday on Saturday, while Democrats screeched “North Korea” at the White House. 

The parade, which rolled down Constitution Avenue NW, featured hundreds of servicemen and cadets in full dress uniforms from every military branch. Tanks and other heavy hardware were on full display. 

Country music star Warren Zeiders sang his hits Pretty Little Poison and Ride the Lightning. Trump sat onstage with First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. 

Vance opened the event with remarks before introducing Trump, who then presided over the swearing-in of dozens of new U.S. Army soldiers. 

“Congratulations, congratulations!” Trump said. “Welcome to the United States Army and have a great life, thank you very much!”

Despite the pro-American spectacle, top Democratic politicians accused Trump of staging parade in the style of North Korea’s Kim Jong Un. 

“Trump’s parade is nothing more than a vulgar demonstration of just how weak he is,” said California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday. “It’s the kind of thing you see with Kim Jong Un, Putin — dictators around the world that are weak and desperate.” 

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said at a Center for American Progress event on Friday the parade “looks wrong, feels wrong,” while comparing D.C. to “Pyongyang.” 

“I’m just going to confess… I have never so hoped for rain in my life,” he added. 

Democratic strategist and YouTuber Keith Edwards called the event “terrifying,” cynically warning: ”This isn’t North Korea. This is America.” 

Sen. John Fetterman, D‑Pa., was one of the few on the left who embraced the parade as pro‑American. 

“This parade is comprised of our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers—the very best of us,” he wrote on X. “Regardless of your politics, it’s appropriate to celebrate the 250 years of sacrifice, dedication and service.”
