Thuggish Union Bullied Nurses for Years Thanks to Broken U.S. Labor System, Congress Hears

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The House Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions held a hearing Thursday on legislation that would protect workers from being forced to pay dues or fees to labor unions as a condition of employment.

Proponents of such legislation have been making the economic case for the “right to work” for years—pointing to the fact that states prohibiting mandatory union membership consistently outpace non-Right to Work states in manufacturing output and GDP growth.

And at Thursday’s hearing, lawmakers heard personal stories about how the current U.S. labor system has allowed unions to bully nurses and other workers.

Retired nurse Jeanette Geary told the committee that she once worked at a Kent Hospital in Rhode Island. There, the United Nurses & Allied Professionals demanded that she pay dues to the union or be fired.

Geary said she attempted to invoke her rights established under the Supreme Court case CWA v. Beck, which restricted unions from collecting dues for political activities if a union member chooses to opt out.

However, “the union refused to acknowledge me, belittled me, and refused to provide any audited financial disclosure about what it did with the compulsory dues it forcibly extracted from my salary,” Geary said Thursday.

In late 2009, Geary and several other Kent Hospital nurses resigned their UNAP memberships and objected to paying for the union’s political and non-representational activities.

Represented by the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, she initiated an unfair labor practice charge against UNAP with the National Labor Relations Board on November 23, 2009.

A decade-plus legal battle ensued.

After numerous disputes in multiple legal jurisdictions, Geary eventually received back pay for the dues that had been illegally seized from her eleven years earlier.

However, the harrowing process illustrates how broken the current system is, she said.

“The Beck objection system is broken and does not protect employees’ rights. Unions do not tell employees about their rights because union officials have no incentive to do so, and regular employees without lawyers like those at the National Right to Work Legal Foundation are left to fend for themselves,” she said.

“For all of these reasons, I wholeheartedly support the National Right to Work Act, so that no employee will be forced to pay his or her heard earned money to a private organization they do not support,” she added.

“This is America, and membership in a union and payment of dues should be strictly voluntary.”

While Thursday’s hearing focused on legislation that would reduce unions’ power to coerce workers, congressional Democrats are working in the opposite direction.

Left-leaning lawmakers, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Robert Scott, D-Va., have reintroduced the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, which would eliminate every single state Right to Work law in America.

National Right to Work Committee’s vice president of legislation, Greg Mourad, said that luckily, the PRO Act has little chance of making it through this Congress. Voting for this “ridiculous big labor idea” would be political suicide for Democrats in Right to Work states, according to Mourad.

“If they could actually pass it, they might make that sacrifice. But they’re not going to cut their own throats for no reason,” he told Headline USA in June.

Illinois Republicans React to Chicago Mayor’s Unhinged Conspiracy Rant

(Illinois Republican legislators are responding to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s recent remarks claiming those wanting to close the U.S. border or send non-citizens to sanctuary states are “unclean spirits.”

Chicago has over 24,000 migrants sheltering in the city. New York City has more than 66,000, which is leading to discussions on what to do at the southern U.S. southern border and who is responsible for the influx to cities more than 1,000 miles away.

In an unhinged rant Tuesday evocative of disgraced actor Jussie Smollett’s invocation of the “MAGA” boogeyman, Johnson criticized Republicans in regards to the border and suggested that the “right wing” was dishing out payback.

“It is abysmal, and it’s an affront for everything that is good about this country, for the extremism in this country to use people as political tools to settle political scores for something that happened 400 years ago,” Johnson said.

Johnson continued by questioning the sanctity of the party.

“That’s what this particular party has been about,” Johnson claimed.

“This is the same Republican right-wing extremism that stormed the Capitol. It’s the same right-wing extremism that refuses to accept the results of the Civil War. It’s raggedy, it’s disrespectful,” he continued. “It’s disrespectful, its mean spirited, it’s an unclean spirit.”

Illinois Republicans responded to Johnson’s words, with some suggesting a history lesson for the mayor.

“His statements are not even grounded in reality. I would recommend a history lesson for the mayor of Chicago, good grief,” state Rep. Adam Niemerg, R-Dieterich, told the Center Square. “To say Republicans don’t accept the results of the Civil War, I believe Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.”

State Rep. Martin McLaughlin, R-Barrington Hills, fired back at Johnson.

“The Republican Party was founded to end government Bureaucracy and to end slavery. Brandon Johnson and [Illinois Gov.] J.B. Pritzker are both obviously not students of history and are hoping many of their followers never get off TikTok to discover accurate historical information,” McLaughlin said in a statement. “Independents, moderate Democrats, and Republicans are equally appalled at their recent statements.”

Last month, Pritzker said supporting non-citizen arrivals has nothing to do with sanctuary status and the state would remain open.

“Sanctuary status has to do with undocumented immigrants who are here,” Pritzker said. “Not people who are asylum seekers who are in a whole different category.”

According to U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-N.Y., Democratic leadership and the inaction of President Joe Biden in regard to the border is what led to this influx of people and the use of taxpayer dollars to cover the costs.

“This is just one small glimpse at a completely avoidable humanitarian disaster brought not by big bad Republicans in the House but by an administration that refuses to enforce our immigration laws and has flung the door wide open at our southern border,” Langworthy said.

Johnson said the Republican backlash comes from targeted hate.

“This is nothing new,” Johnson said. “Everyone knows that the right-wing extremism in this country has targeted Democratically run cities, and quite frankly, they have been quite intentional about going after Democratically ran cities that are led by people of color.”

Illinois state Rep. Brad Halbrook, R-Shelbyville, said Johnson should not be taken seriously.

“Mayor Johnson is a clown. He is not a serious person, and he does not deserve a response to his inane babbling,” Halbrook said in a statement.

“He was elected thanks to the massive financial backing of the very public sector union leadership that has made Chicago’s finances a complete disaster,” Halbrook continued. “If Mayor Johnson is the answer, it must have been an extremely stupid question.”

Last week, Chicago saw 25 more buses of migrants arrive. New York is seeing more than 2,500 arrivals a week.

Biden White House Pressured Google to Remove YouTube Videos

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The House Judiciary Committee has released documents showing that the White House pressured YouTube in 2021 to remove content that was promoting skepticism of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The documents, which were obtained via congressional subpoena, are a series of emails between White House official Rob Flaherty and employees of YouTube’s parent company, Google.

On April 12, 2021, Flaherty—Biden’s Director of Digital Strategy—emailed Google wanting to know how Google could better “crack down on vaccine misinformation” and to discuss “ways the White House (and our COVID experts) can partner in your product work.”

Flaherty’s email prompted an internal discussion at Google. One company employee said “Rob’s questions were very [YouTube] focused” and that the White House “dug in on our decision making for borderline content” that doesn’t “violate our Community Guidelines.”

The internal emails also show that YouTube was concerned about possible government scrutiny over its content decisions.

“Unfortunately, the role of tech in addressing vaccine hesitancy is about to come under a massive spotlight particularly as the supply of the vaccine is soon to outpace demand,” the April 2021 correspondence added.

After a series of emails and calls over the next week, Google determined that the White House was most concerned with anti-COVID vaccine content.

It’s not clear how the White House-Google collaboration affected YouTube content—though obviously much COVID content was and continues to be heavily censored.

Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, promised that his committee’s investigation will continue.

The release of the Google documents, which Jordan dubbed the “YouTube Files,” follows a similar set of documents related to Facebook’s content moderation. Those documents also show White House censorship pressure.

In one email, an unnamed Facebook employee said that “we are facing continued pressure from external stakeholders, including the White House and the press, to remove more COVID-19 vaccine discouraging content.”

In another April 2021 email, a Facebook executive told his team that Andy Slavitt, a senior advisor to President Joe Biden, was “outraged” that Facebook didn’t remove a meme about the vaccine.

Jordan’s House Weaponization Subcommittee is set to hold a hearing about social media censorship today. Presumably, both the abovementioned documents will be discussed.

Nobel-Winning Globalist ‘War Criminal’ Henry Kissinger Dies at 100

(Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who helped steer U.S. foreign policy in Vietnam and China, died Wednesday. He was 100.

His consulting firm, Kissinger Associates Inc., announced the death.

Although admired by many for his long and enduring legacy as a statesman who transcended partisan politics, working as an advisor in the Democratic Kennedy and Johnson administrations before formally joining the Nixon administration, his legacy as a globalist whose policies have ultimately diminished U.S. standing and influence may ultimately outweigh his accomplishments.

He maintained close lifelong ties with the Rockefeller family, including brothers David and Nelson, who exerted considerable direct influence over global affairs during the 1970s and ’80s as they worked to create an “egalitarian” society in which most people were serfs and a few select elites controlled the levers of power.

This led to the establishment of institutions like the Trilateral Commission, a cabalistic conglomerate of elite global influencers, as well as the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation, which has been a driving dark-money force in funding many of the leftist causes undermining the fabric of American society today.

Kissinger also likely played a large role in the rise to power of the modern-day CIA, which was heavily involved with the operations he helped to engineer first in southeast Asia and later in Central and South America, often involving extralegal operations that would not have been acceptable to the American public had they been widely known.

Kissinger, born as Heinz Alfred Kissinger in Germany in 1923, left Nazi Germany for America in 1938. He served in the 84th Army Division from 1943 to 1946 after becoming a U.S. citizen. He was awarded the Bronze Star. He later served in the Counter Intelligence Corps in occupied Germany.

President Richard Nixon appointed Kissinger as national security adviser in 1969. He went on to serve as secretary of State under Nixon. When Nixon resigned in 1974 amid the Watergate scandal, Kissinger stayed on and served under President Gerald Ford.

“Kissinger played central roles in the opening to China, negotiating the end of the Yom Kippur War in the Middle East, and helping to bring America’s role in the Vietnam War to a close. He worked to set the former Rhodesia on the path to representative government and negotiated key arms control agreements with the Soviet Union,” according to Kissinger Associates Inc.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to Kissinger and Le Duc Tho, a Vietnamese diplomat, “for jointly having negotiated a cease fire in Vietnam in 1973,” according to the Noble Foundation. Le Duc Tho declined the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Kissinger’s tenure as Secretary comprised many controversial issues, including his role in influencing U.S. policies towards countries such as Chile and Angola,” according to his official State Department biography.

Kissinger also was known for his “shuttle diplomacy” missions, in which he traveled between Middle East capitals to try to bring peace.

Kissinger also had many critics on the left. HuffPost’s obituary of Kissinger had the headline: “Henry Kissinger, America’s Most Notorious War Criminal, Dies At 100”.

HuffPost cited as perhaps Kissinger’s most notorious crime a secret four-year bombing campaign in Cambodia against the neutral nation during the time of the Vietnam War.

Kissinger is survived by his wife, Nancy Maginnes Kissinger, two children by his first marriage, David and Elizabeth, and five grandchildren.

He will be interred at a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests considering donations to: Animal Medical Center, Development Office, 510 East 62nd Street, New York, NY 10065 or Henry A. Huh? Ted Lieu Uses Wendy’s Ad from 1984 to Defend Bribery Biden

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Far-left Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., took a perplexing approach by invoking a 1984 fast food ad to counter the politically damning impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.

During a House Minority press conference on Wednesday, Lieu argued that House Republicans lacked evidence tying Biden to impeachable offenses, drawing an odd analogy to a Wendy’s ad.

“I know I’m now going to date myself,” Lieu chuckled. “My kids won’t understand this, but remember that Wendy’s commercial, ‘Where’s the beef?’ And they show this sandwich, and you look at it, and there’s essentially no beef, and the customer keeps saying, ‘Where’s the beef?’”

Lieu’s defense coincided with Republicans speeding up the impeachment investigation into Biden, focusing on allegations of political corruption, bribery and an alleged influence-peddling campaign.

“So where’s the evidence?” he challenged, dismissing the damning evidence released by the Republican-led committees leading the investigation. “The Republicans can’t point to a single shred of evidence implicating President Biden. That’s why it’s a slow start. There is no evidence.”

Lieu made these remarks during a press conference where Democrats sought to downplay the impeachment investigations by the House Judiciary Committee, House Oversight Committee and House Ways and Means Committee.

“Any American who has watched one minute of the government oversight and reform proceedings over the last six months knows it to be political theater at its worst,” stated Rep. Joe Neguse, D-Colo., “They’ve articulated no cogent basis for impeachment or connection to the constitutional standard.”

The White House similarly dismissed the impeachment threats. In comments to CNN, White House spokesperson Ian Sams labeled Republican efforts to formalize the impeachment inquiry as “a sad attempt” to divert attention from House chaos.

However, during a joint interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; James Comer, R-Ky.; and Jason Smith, R-Mo., who chair the committees investigating Biden, strongly criticized the payments the Biden family allegedly received from Chinese contacts.

Comer highlighted a payment to the Biden family as potential bribery. “This is the way China bought influence. This is the way that China compromised politicians. They would send money to compromised family members, big politicians to try to gain influence,” Comer told Hannity.

Smith drew attention to an alleged lack of IRS documentation regarding Biden’s received loan payments “One thing that we have to pay close attention to, those checks that Chairman Comer released that were loan payments to President Biden it’s quite interesting, if you look at the public tax returns of President Biden’s, there is no documentation of any interest income that he reported,” he said.

Biden Taps ‘Congressman Trump’ in Latest Gaffe

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Embattled President Joe Biden, amid a speech mired with verbal slips and numerous gaffes, inadvertently referenced a non-existent member of Congress, fabricating a role for former President Donald Trump.

Addressing factory workers in Colorado, Biden seemed to aim a jab at Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., a vocal opponent of the Biden administration’s economic policies. However, he unexpectedly referred to Trump as a congressman.

“We can use [a billionaire minimum tax] to strengthen the Social Security and Medicare system instead of cutting them like Congressman Trump and Boebert want to do,” Biden said, marking another gaffe in a series of similar incidents.

The stream of verbal errors continued. As highlighted by the New York Post, Biden transitioned from boasting about nuclear capabilities to mistakenly naming the president of South Korea.

“Now look, my Marine carries that, but it has the code to blow up the world,” Biden said during a visit to a factory owned by South Korean company CS Wind.

“This is not nuclear weapons, is it?” Biden questioned, apparently joking with the workers.

During his speech, Biden referred to someone named “Mr. Moon,” reportedly a nod to former South Korean President Moon Jae-in. However, Moon Jae-in left office in 2022.

“I am friends with your leader, Mr. Moon, you know,” Biden told the crowd.

Biden’s stumble occurred less than a week after an incident where the former president reacted sharply to a reporter’s question about his fitness for seeking re-election in 2024.

“Mr. President are you too old to be running for re-election,” Fox News correspondent Lucas Tomlinson asked Biden, triggering a strong response. “That’s stupid!” Biden retorted.

Tomlinson posed a follow-up question, inquiring about Biden’s position in the latest polls against Trump. However, Biden chose not to respond.

Schumer Rebukes His Own Party’s Disturbing Anti-Semitism

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., delivered a rare rebuke of his own party’s disturbing anti-Semitism in their vitriol efforts to support Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas war.

During a speech on the Senate floor on Monday, Schumer, who is Jewish, cautioned that the left is “unwittingly aiding and abetting” anti-Semitism, fostering disturbing animosity towards the Jewish population.

“I feel compelled to speak because I’m the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in America. In fact, the highest-ranking Jewish elected official ever in American history,” Schumer said.

“While the dead bodies of Jewish Israelis were still warm, while hundreds of Jewish Israelis were being carried as hostages back to Hamas tunnels under Gaza, Jewish Americans were alarmed to see some of our fellow citizens characterize a brutal terrorist attack as justified because of the actions of the Israeli government,” he added.

Schumer called on the left to confront the troubling rhetoric of anti-Semitism. “No matter what our beliefs are, no matter where we stand on the war in Gaza, all of us must condemn antisemitism with full-throated clarity whenever we see it before it metastasizes into something even worse. Because right now, that’s what Jewish Americans fear most,” he declared.

During his speech, Schumer explicitly cited numerous reported incidents since the October terror attack by Hamas and specifically denounced anti-Semitic phrases, including the “From the river to the sea” chant, which bluntly calls for the destruction of the Jewish state.

“But rather than call out this dangerous behavior for what it is, we see so many of our friends and fellow citizens — particularly young people who yearn for justice — unknowingly aiding and abetting their cause, and worse, many of our friends and allies whose support we need now more than ever during this moment of intense Jewish pain, have brushed aside these concerns,” he said.

Schumer’s comments follow several left-wing protests across the nation against Israel’s actions in the Hamas-governed Gaza Strip. Troubling chants and displays, including swastikas, have been witnessed during these protests.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., faced a House censure vote after defending a phrase historically linked to calls for the destruction of Israel. The defense prompted a bipartisan censure against the phrase, even drawing disapproval from the White House.

Mom Savages Reporter Who Falsely Accused Son of ‘Blackface’ at NFL Game

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Shannon Armenta, the mother of a young boy falsely accused of wearing blackface, has strongly condemned Deadspin, one of the outlets at the forefront of these allegations.

The incident occurred at a Kansas City Chiefs game, where the boy faced disturbing social-media attacks due to a partially captured photo showing his face painted in red and black—a homage to the football team.

Deadspin already received severe criticism online for it’s dishonest representation of Holden Armenta, which showed only the black side of his face, eliciting a community note on Twitter, as well as widespread backlash.

In an additional blow to the leftist outlet, Shannon Armenta revealed that her son was not culturally appropriating Native American items, such as a traditional headdress, since the boy has Native American heritage.

“This has nothing to do with the NFL,” Armenta said on Facebook, dismissing Deadspin’s fake report. She highlighted that CBS, which also covered the child’s painted face, presented different angles demonstrating his tribute to the team.

“He is Native American – just stop already,” she added, directing her plea to the outlet.

The Armenta family went viral after Deadspin’s senior writer, Carron Phillips, penned an article on Nov. 27 bluntly accusing the child of wearing blackface. Notably, Phillips failed to mention in the piece that the child also had red paint on his face.

“The NFL needs to speak out against the Kansas City Chiefs fan in Black face, Native headdress,” the article’s headline read, implying that the headdress worn by the child was offensive to Native Americans.

“It takes a lot to disrespect two groups of people at once. But on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas, a Kansas City Chiefs fan found a way to hate Black people and the Native Americans at the same time,” Phillips declared.

“Despite their age, who taught that person that what they were wearing was appropriate?” the author questioned, singling out the child. Phillips went as far as to claim that the banning of “Critical Race Theory” attributed to the non-existent blackface.

Critics on Twitter swiftly rebuked the article for disregarding the fact that the child did not wear blackface; rather, he painted his face in the team’s colors.

The Post Millennial noted that the child’s grandfather, Raul Armenta, serves on the board of the Chumash Tribe in California.

“He looks forward to continuing the legacy of building a solid economic foundation for future generations of the Chumash tribe,” the site stated.

As of Wednesday, Deadspin had neither updated nor removed the article despite the emergence of new information.

Minn. University Holds ‘White Accountability’ Workshop

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) It was revealed by a popular Twitter account Libs of TikTok that the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., is holding a workshop on “white accountability.”

“With privilege comes responsibility. What will you do with yours for the common good?” an event description said.

Alpha News reported that the anti-white workshop is held monthly and facilitated by a counselor who helps participants “explore white privilege, along with other layers and intersectionalities of privilege as [they] engage in anti-racist work.”

“This workshop has a focus on interactive discussion about how white supremacy affects us and others, individually and systemically, on a daily basis,” the event description said.

The university’s Center for Well-Being created the workshop that takes place virtually over Zoom, with sessions taking place on Nov. 30, 2023, and Dec. 14, 2023. One session already took place on campus on Oct. 24, 2023.

It was also revealed that the anti-white event is a part of First-Year Experience [FYE], which is a part of the university’s core curriculum for freshman students and one of the ways for Marxists to indoctrinate the new students into their ideology. Among the courses that FYE offers are “Emerging Scholars for Justice” and “Social Justice and Cultural Transformations for the Common Good.”

After the post by Libs of TikTok became viral, the university received backlash and locked its Twitter account, while also appearing to remove the webpage that advertises the workshop. The university also limited other people’s ability to comment on their Facebook page.

However, the archived versions of the webpage that date back to May 2022 still allow people to witness the blatant anti-white racism.

“White Accountability Workshop is a monthly workshop in a counselor-facilitated brave space for students to explore how whiteness and racism show up in our daily lives and systems to affect our thoughts, feelings, relationships, health & well-being, community and much more,” a May 28, 2023, version said.

When contacted by Alpha News, the university responded by saying that the workshop that was started back in 2020 will continue so that students would be able to “explore how different life experiences impact our understanding of social issues and engagement in racial justice work.”

‘Unfair’: Trump Backs Adams, Cuomo in Sexual Harassment Suits

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Former President Donald Trump strongly rebuked a New York law enabling sexual harassment claims against New York City Mayor Eric Adams and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Trump denounced the Adult Survivors Act as “unfair and unconstitutional” in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, citing his own legal issues regarding journalist E. Jean Carroll’s accusations of sexual assault dating back to 1996.

“I hope that Mayor Eric Adams, Andrew Cuomo, and all of the others that got sued based on this ridiculous law where someone can be sued decades later, and with no proof, will fight it on being totally unfair and UNCONSTITUTIONAL,” Trump said.

Highlighting his own case, Trump dismissed Carroll’s claims as a “made-up fairytale,” attributing it to alleged political motives.

“I got sued, decades later (she has no idea when her made up event took place!), by a woman – I HAD NO IDEA WHO SHE WAS,” he added. “It was a made up fairytale that was brought and funded by political operatives for purposes of Election Interference.”

Trump’s remarks followed a $5 million sexual assault lawsuit against Adams, already under federal investigation for campaign finances, accusing him of misconduct during his tenure as an NYPD transit officer. Similarly, Cuomo, who resigned in disgraced following accusations of sexual misconduct, faces a lawsuit from former aide Brittany Commisso over sexual harassment.

These legal actions against Adams and Cuomo were filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, enacted in 2022 by Gov. Kathy Hochul. This law allowed a one-year window for sexual assault survivors to file lawsuits, but expired last Friday, according to Newsmax.

In a separate case, a New York City jury held Trump liable for assault and defamation against Carroll, awarding her $5 million in damages ($2 million for sexual abuse and $3 million for defamation). Trump vehemently maintained his innocence, denying any knowledge of Carroll.

“I have absolutely no idea who this woman is. This verdict is a disgrace — a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time!” Trump said on May 9.

Carroll filed a new $10 million lawsuit over Trump’s comments during a May 10 CNN town hall, where he called her a “whack job.”
