Liberal Actress Susan Sarandon Retracts Anti-Semitic Remarks Post Agency Ousting

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Infamous actress Susan Sarandon is now retracting her disturbing statements made during a pro-Palestinian rally, which led her talent agency to give her the boot.

Following the Oct. 7 terrorist attack by Hamas on innocent civilians, Sarandon had remarked that Israel was experiencing a “taste” of what Muslims allegedly face in the country. However, faced with considerable backlash, Sarandon issued a lengthy apology, dubbing her comment as a “terrible mistake” in a lengthy Instagram post.

“This phrasing was a terrible mistake, as it implies that until recently Jews have been strangers to persecution, when the opposite is true,” Sarandon stated on Dec. 1.

“As we all know, from centuries of oppression and genocide in Europe, to the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh, PA, Jews have long been familiar with discrimination and religious violence which continued to this day,” she added.

Sarandon’s Dec. 1 apology stands in stark contrast to her earlier statements, where she supported a group of pro-Palestinian protestors opposing Israel’s actions in the Hamas-led Gaza Strip.

“There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country,” she had addressed a crowd, many of whom wielded Palestinian flags and covered their faces with kaffiyehs, a scarf symbolic of Palestinian fighting.

Her remarks led the global talent agency United Talent Agency (UTA) to drop her as a client, as reported by Deadline on Nov. 21.

UTA’s expulsion of Sarandon also coincided with the actress’s involvement with controversial figures like musician Roger Waters, a vocal critic of the Jewish state.

Expressing deep “regret” for belittling the experiences of Jewish communities, Sarandon emphasized her intent to demonstrate solidarity against all forms of bigotry.

“I will continue my commitment to peace, truth, justice, and compassion for all people,” she declared. “I hope we can meet with love and willingness to engage in dialogue, especially with those with whom we disagree.”

Trump Won’t Attend 4th GOP Debate

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Donald Trump recently said that he doesn’t plan to attend another GOP presidential debate to argue with his RINO competitors when he is so far ahead in the polls.

Trump announced on Thursday that, instead of attending the fourth debate, he intends to hold an “end of the year” fundraiser in Hallandale Beach, Fla., according to the Daily Fetched.

The event will take place next week, on Dec. 6, 2023, which is the same day as the fourth debate that was sponsored by NewsNation, The Megyn Kelly Show on Sirius XM, the Washington Free Beacon and Rumble.

It was also previously reported that Trump’s not being present at the previous debates caused viewership to plummet, which resulted in previous sponsors like Fox News slashing their advertising rates.

Trump recently called on Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel to cancel the remainder of the debate season by arguing that he is so far ahead in the polls that there is no point in him participating in the debates.

The Daily Fetched also reported that the committee is considering a proposal next week to let GOP presidential candidates participate in unofficial debates and forums.

Strict rules that govern the debate schedule now threaten to allow the presidential candidates future opportunities at official debates only if they align with the RNC’s format.

Future debates have not yet been scheduled by the RNC.

On Fox News, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., debated with Gov. Gavin Newsom, D–Calif., this week, with DeSantis previously calling for “more freewheeling debates” and challenging Trump to one-on-one debates.

As previously pointed out, Trump doesn’t have any intention to participate in future debates, just like he never participated in the previous debates. Last time, while other candidates were arguing on stage, Trump was being interviewed by Tucker Carlson on his show, with the ratings of this single episode surpassing the ratings of the first debate.

In addition to that, before the interview with Carlson, Trump spoke before union members who were protesting in Michigan and held a rally in Florida with a large audience.

“President Trump doesn’t need to debate,” Trump endorsed candidate for U.S. Congress from Texas’s 26th Congressional District Brandon Gill wrote in his op-ed.

Feds say Tennessee Violated ADA by Enforcing Law Against HIV Sex Work

(Brett Rowland, The Center Square) – Tennessee’s enforcement of its aggravated prostitution law against people living with HIV violates the Americans with Disabilities Act, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday, warning that continued enforcement could result in a federal lawsuit.

The Justice Department said the state, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office violated the ADA, the landmark 1990 federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities. Tennessee’s Attorney General could not immediately be reached for comment after hours on Friday.

The Justice Department’s investigation found that the state and the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office “subject people living with HIV to harsher criminal penalties solely because of their HIV status, violating Title II of the ADA.” Tennessee is the only state in the U.S. that requires lifetime registration as a violent sex offender if convicted of aggravated prostitution, regardless of whether the person knew they could transmit the disease.

“Tennessee’s aggravated prostitution law is outdated, has no basis in science, discourages testing and further marginalizes people living with HIV,” said Kristen Clarke, assistant attorney general of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “People living with HIV should not be treated as violent sex offenders for the rest of their lives solely because of their HIV status.”

The Justice Department findings were detailed in an 11-page letter to Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti.

“The State and the [Shelby County District Attorney’s Office] discriminate against individuals with disabilities by enforcing Tennessee’s aggravated prostitution statute, which elevates to a felony conduct that would otherwise be a misdemeanor, solely because the individual charged knows they have HIV, regardless of any actual risk of harm,” according to the letter. “Aggravated prostitution is also categorized as a ‘violent sexual offense’ mandating registration on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, in most cases for life.”

The state’s aggravated prostitution statute is a felony. A person convicted of aggravated prostitution faces three to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. A person convicted of a misdemeanor prostitution charge faces a sentence of no more than six months and up to a $500 fine. The aggravated prostitution statute applies statewide, but the Justice Department said it has been enforced most frequently in Shelby County, the largest county in the state.

The state’s Sex Offender Registry restricts registrants from living or working within 1,000 feet of any school, childcare facility, or public park or playground. The Justice Department said this leads to increased homelessness.

“For those living in densely populated cities like Memphis, where the aggravated prostitution statute is most enforced, these requirements make it difficult for people on the SOR to find anywhere they can live or work without violating the [Sex Offender Registry’s] requirements,” according to the letter.

The Justice Department said the treatment of both HIV and AIDS has changed since the state’s aggravated prostitution law was passed in 1991.

“There has been significant progress in the understanding of and treatment of HIV. Beliefs and assumptions that individuals with HIV will spread it, or that having HIV is a death sentence, are now outdated and unfounded,” according to the letter.

The Justice Department said the state must stop enforcing the aggravated prostitution law, including the sex offender registration requirements triggered by aggravated prostitution convictions. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation must take people convicted of aggravated prostitution off of the state’s Sex Offender Registry. It also listed other actions for both the state and TBI to fix the problem.

“We hope to work cooperatively with the State and the SCDAG to resolve the Department’s findings. If either the SCDAG or the State declines to enter into negotiations, or if our negotiations do not succeed, the United States may take appropriate action, including initiating a lawsuit,” the letter said.

The Friday announcement coincided with World AIDS Day, an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic. Untreated HIV can lead to AIDS.

Border Patrol Closes Border Entry Due to High Numbers of Illegals

(Headline USA) So many illegals are crossing from Mexico into the United States around remote Lukeville, Arizona, that U.S. officials say they will close the port of entry there so that the operations officials who watch over vehicle and pedestrian traffic going both ways can help Border Patrol agents arrest and process the new arrivals.

Customs and Border Protection announced Friday that the temporary closure of the crossing will start Monday as officials grapple with changing migration routes that have overwhelmed Border Patrol agents stationed there.

Customs and Border Protection said it is “surging all available resources to expeditiously and safely process migrants” and will “continue to prioritize our border security mission as necessary in response to this evolving situation.”

The area around the desert crossing has become a major migration route in recent months, with smugglers dropping off people from countries as diverse as Senegal, India and China. Most of them are walking into the U.S. west of Lukeville through gaps in the wall, then head east toward the official border crossing to surrender to the first agents they see in hopes for a chance at asylum.

The Border Patrol made 17,500 arrests for illegal crossings during the past week in the agency’s Tucson sector, John Modlin, the sector chief, said Friday, That translates to a daily average of 2,500, well above its daily average of 1,700 in September, when Tucson was already the busiest corridor for illegal crossings by far along U.S.-Mexico border.

Customs and Border Protection blamed the hundreds of people arriving daily around Lukeville on “smugglers peddling disinformation to prey on vulnerable individuals.”
It was unclear how long the crossing would be shut.

Although it is remote, the Lukeville border crossing is the one regularly used to travel from Arizona to Puerto Peñasco, or Rocky Point, a resort area in the Mexican state of Sonora on the Sea of Cortez. Americans also drive through the crossing to visit the border community of Sonoyta for a meal, shop or to get less expensive dental and medical care.

Some Mexican children ride a northbound bus across the border every day to go to school.
An average of 3,140 people in vehicles and 184 pedestrians entered the U.S. daily in Lukeville during October, according to the U.S. Transportation Department’s latest figures.

Travelers will still be able to cross into or out of the United States through Nogales, Arizona, a three-hour drive to the east, or San Luis, Arizona, a two-hour drive to the west.
Customs and Border Protection earlier this week began limiting traffic at the Lukeville port.

The agency on Monday also closed one of two bridges to vehicles in Eagle Pass, Texas, a town of about 30,000 people that, for a while last year, was the busiest corridor for illegal crossings.

Chutkan Rejects Trump’s Legal Right to Question Election Results

(Headline USA) President Donald Trump may be prosecuted in his election interference case in Washington, a federal judge ruled Friday, knocking down the Republican’s bid to defend his right to free speech.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan’s decision amounts to a sharp rejection to challenges the Trump defense team had raised to the four-count indictment in advance of a trial expected to center on Trump’s ability to question election results.

The order might not be the final say in the legal fight. Lawyers for Trump, who has denied any wrongdoing, are expected to quickly appeal to fight this ‘unsettled legal question.’

Lawyers for Trump had argued that he was within his First Amendment rights to challenge the outcome of the election and to allege that it had been tainted by fraud, and they accused prosecutors of attempting to criminalize political speech and political advocacy.

But Chutkan said a sitting president’s free speech does not serve as protection for him to talk about his own election.

An attorney for Trump declined to comment Friday evening.

Trump’s legal team had argued the criminal case, which is scheduled to go to trial in March, should be dismissed because the 2024 Republican presidential primary front-runner is shielded from prosecution for actions he took while fulfilling his duties as president. They assert that the actions detailed in the indictment cut to the core of Trump’s responsibilities as commander in chief.

The Supreme Court has held that presidents are immune from civil liability for actions related to their official duties, but the justices have never grappled with the question of whether that immunity extends to criminal prosecution.

The Justice Department has also held that sitting presidents cannot be prosecuted.

Trump’s lawyers are trying to ensure that same protection to a former president for actions taken while in office, asserting that no prosecutor since the beginning of American democracy has had the authority to bring such charges.

MURDOCK: Leftists’ Green Virtue-Signaling Little More than a Desert Mirage

(Deroy Murdock, Headline USA) Through Dec. 12, the “Climate!” crowd is swarming COP28, Dubai’s carbophobia cavalcade. The fact that these global-warming alarmists are surrounded by Earth’s deepest pools of fossil fuels makes their Hajj infinitely ironic.

Also astonishing is the nearly immeasurable impact of these people’s gyrations. They blow trillions of dollars, bludgeon human freedom, and yet do shockingly little to fix their vaunted “climate crisis.”

One needs an electron microscope to find their promised reductions in allegedly venomous carbon dioxide or supposedly lethal temperatures.

According to #ActInTime’s Climate Clock high above Manhattan’s Union Square, humans have—at this writing—five years and 233 days until we boil to death in a cauldron of steaming carbon.

Since The End is scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2029 (mark your calendars!) Big Government Democrats offer jaw-droppingly paltry climate benefits, despite their spine-chilling predictions and unbridled interventionism.

  • Obama–Biden’s proposed Clean Power Plan was a diamond-encrusted specimen of do-nothingism. According to a May 2015 analysis by their own Energy Information Agency, between 2015 and 2025, the CPP would have slashed real GDP by $993 billion, or an average of $39.7 billion per year. It would have sliced real disposable income by $382 billion, or $15.3 billion annually. It also would have chopped manufacturing shipments by $1.13 trillion, or $45.4 billion per year.

EIA forecast a decrease of 0.035° Fahrenheit. This would have cranked a thermometer from 72° F way down to 71.965°.

Danish environmental expert Bjorn Lomborg ran the IRA through the climate models promoted by the United Nations. “Impact of new climate legislation,” Lomborg specified. “Unnoticeable: 0.0009°F to 0.028°F in 2100.”

This would chill thermostats from 72° to 71.9991°. If we get lucky: 71.972°.

Biden said on Jan. 31 that “if we don’t stay under 1.5° Celsius” or 2.7° Fahrenheit, “we’re going to have a real problem.”

If a 0.0009° F reduction costs $369 billion, then Biden’s 2.7° F goal would devour—brace yourself—$1.107 quadrillion, with a Q.

  • Emperor Biden’s electric-vehicle decree would require that at least 67% of new cars sold in 2032 be electric. This edict already is stalling the auto industry. On Wednesday, 3,882 U.S. car dealers in all 50 states wrote Biden. Message: Stop tailgating!

“Already, electric vehicles are stacking up on our lots,” the dealers complained. “The majority of customers are simply not ready to make the change.”

This chaos aside, Biden’s mandate would limit CO2 by 10 billion tons through 2055. Alas, China is expected to generate 320 billion tons of carbon in the next 32 years. So, Biden’s “savings” will asphyxiate in a giant Chinese carbon cloud.

The Wall Street Journal’s Holman Jenkins calculates that Biden’s EV order will decrease planetary emissions by a whopping 0.18%. “The climate effect of the extravagantly expensive Biden plan will steadily approach zero,” Jenkins anticipates.

  • Rather than jail criminals or deport illegal aliens, Gov. Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., bans gas stoves and demands that gas heaters yield to electric heat pumps—never mind that her constituents freeze to death during post-blizzard blackouts.

“The global effect of the costly program of compulsory electrification will be a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of less than 0.05%,” the Empire Center for Public Policy calculates.

Obama, Biden, Hochul and their comrades might respond that no single bauble will fix everything, and every shiny object helps. Maybe.

However, these four schemes alone carry an enormously high price in shredded freedom and incinerated taxpayer dollars, yet still leave at least 99.82% of emissions untouched.

To quote Shakespeare, perhaps this “sound and fury, signifying nothing” is not about cutting emissions or curbing temperatures. Maybe it’s designed to help Democrats spend trillions of dollars to signal virtue, bark orders at the American people and lavish taxpayers’ hard-earned cash on their politically connected pals—from the Potomac to the Persian Gulf.

Kristi Noem Addresses Questions on Potential Role as Trump’s Veep

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Gov. Kristi Noem, R-S.D., addressed mounting speculation surrounding her possible selection as former President Donald Trump’s running mate if he secures the GOP nomination in 2024.

Noem, alongside several prominent conservative women, has consistently appeared among the favorites for a potential Trump 2024 ticket.

During an interview with American Sunrise on Real America’s Voice on Thursday, Noem reaffirmed her staunch support for Trump’s candidacy and said she is willing to help however possible.

“Well, there’s a lot of people they’re talking about for vice president,” Noem responded when asked about joining the ticket. “I have long supported President Trump – he had his priorities right when he was leading this country and he allowed me as a governor to do my job.”

Before giving her direct response to the vice president rumor, Noem emphasized the pressing need to secure victory in the 2024 presidential election.

“I think during this time everybody needs to recognize how important it is to get him back in the White House so that we can continue to be the greatest country in the world, and we can continue to protect our country,” Noem added.

“I’ll do all that I can to be helpful whatever that effort is, I think he needs to pick the vice president that helps him win. I want him to win and that’s going to be his decision, and his decision alone and I trust with that,” she concluded.

The South Dakota governor has previously endorsed Trump for president and has long been rumored as a potential candidate herself, according to the Conservative Brief. Trump himself has lauded Noem’s performance as governor.

“She’s been a great governor,” Trump declared of Noem. “She gave me a very full-throated endorsement, a beautiful endorsement, actually. It’s been a very good state for me, and certainly, she would be one of the people I would consider or for something else, maybe. We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party.”

When questioned about selecting a woman for vice president, Trump emphasized the importance of choosing the “right” person.

“You always do a little bit, but I really don’t think it’s time,” Trump told NBC News in September. “I want to win, and, you know, it’s very interesting about running mates, when you get down to a vice president, they said, ‘Nobody has ever made that kind of a difference.’ It’s still about the person that’s going to be president.”

DeSantis Camp Throws PAC Under the Bus over Sinking Ship

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The DeSantis campaign is pointing fingers at the Never Back Down PAC over the presidential effort’s ability to persuade voters through a handful of contentious commercials, Politico reported on Friday, citing individuals tied to the Florida governor.

The rumored clash between DeSantis and his allied super PAC comes as the campaign struggles to gain momentum, trailing far behind former President Donald Trump.

Additionally, the campaign has been mired in controversy following the abrupt departure of the PAC’s CEO Chris Jankowski and chair Adam Laxalt.

“The last few weeks have caused the campaign to lose confidence in multiple top NBD officials as a result of poor performance as well as rampant leaking to push false, unauthorized narratives to the press,” a person close to the governor claimed.

The alleged loss in confidence comes after Never Back Down’s strategist Jeff Roe and board member Scott Wagner got into a near physical brawl, according to NBC News.

“You have a stick up your a–, Scott,” Roe allegedly told Wagner, to which Wagner responded, “Why don’t you come over here and get it?”

The rumored fight broke out after an argument over how to best approach advertising.

“The campaign doesn’t think NBD’s current interim leadership should be within a mile of a TV budget,” remarked one of the individuals speaking to Politico.

At the time, the DeSantis campaign was blamed for negative ads against U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. Specifically, the ads drew attention to her alleged ties with China. However, the ads have had little reach as Haley has positioned herself as the number two in the GOP presidential race.

In an attempt to distace itself from potentially negative ads, the DeSantis team launched a second PAC called Fight Right, further questioning whether Never Back Down would be the leading pro-DeSantis PAC ahead of GOP primaries in 2024.

DeSantis’s deputy campaign manager, David Polyansky, praised Never Back Down’s partnership with the campaign, hailing the “collective firepower of Team DeSantis. However, a DeSantis “confidant” suggested otherwise, telling Politico, “I’d expect to see them to continue to get sidelined.”

Comer, Jordan Deny Hunter’s ‘Special Treatment’ Request Ahead of Deposition

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Two Republican lawmakers leading the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden have sternly warned embattled First Son Hunter Biden that his deposition before Congress on Dec. 13 will not entail any “special treatment.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio., issued a letter in response to Hunter’s attorney Abbe Lowell’s contentious demand for the first son to testify at a public hearing.

The Republican duo emphatically rejected the request, emphasizing that Hunter is mandated to undergo a closed-door deposition on Dec. 13, followed by a subsequent public hearing at a later date.

Citing the terms of the subpoena and existing congressional protocols, the lawmakers argued for the necessity of a deposition setting. They highlighted that this “has been the consistent practice of Committees of the House of Representatives in recent Congresses—during both Republican and Democrat majorities—as well as these Committees during this inquiry.”

This response follows Hunter Biden’s attempt to impose conditions on a subpoena received, aiming for a potentially theatric congressional hearing.

“We have seen you use closed door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public. We therefore propose opening the door,” Lowell claimed in the letter responding to the Congressional subpoena.

The subpoena arrives as House Republicans near the conclusion of an impeachment inquiry into Biden, marred by scandal. Notably, the president faces allegations of bribery, purported political corruption, and involvement in overseas influence-peddling schemes.

In the letter, Comer and Jordan highlighted the purpose of the deposition, highlighting the potential role Biden played in the alleged shady business.

“[T]he Committees are investigating whether sufficient grounds exist to draft articles of impeachment against President Biden based on evidence received to date showing that President Biden was aware of at least some of his family’s business ventures and sought to influence potential business deals that financially benefited his family,” the lawmaker added.

Moreover, the letter refuted Lowell’s assertions — as claimed in his initial response to the subpoena — that there was no evidence linking Biden to his son’s business dealings.

“This is contrary to the facts already established through the investigation,” Comer and Jordan emphasized. “As we have detailed in the memorandum explaining the scope of the impeachment inquiry, witnesses have testified not only that Mr. Biden sold the Biden ‘brand.’ But also how Mr. Biden placed his father on speaker phone twenty times with business associates and how he introduced his father in-person during business meetings with foreign business partners.”

Twitter Rebukes Santos’ Expulsion as Leftist Lawmakers Dodge Consequences

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The historic expulsion of former Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., brought chaos and turmoil to the House of Representatives, particularly among Republicans who supported Santos’s ousting.

The vote tallied 311 to 114, with 105 Republicans voting for Santos’ expulsion, marking him as the sixth lawmaker in history to be expelled from Congress and further diminishing the Republicans’ slim majority.

While Democrats and some Republicans celebrated the move, not everyone cheered. Prominent conservative commentators, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., criticized the GOP members who supported Santos’s expulsion.

In a fired-up Twitter post, Greene drew attention to the lack of accountability for Democratic politicians.

“Republicans refuse to impeach any of the Democrats who are responsible for destroying our country and have so far thrown out a Republican Speaker and now expelled a Republican member,” Green said in a fired-up post on Twitter, arguing that Republicans will soon be limited to a three-seat majority.

Chaya Raichik of Libs of TikTok echoed Greene’s sentiments in a passionate post, blasting Congress for not taking action against other embattled lawmakers.

“They won’t expel Swalwell, Schiff, Omar, Tlaib, Bowman for actual treason but they’ll expel Santos. This is why we lose. I’m so sick of cowardly and spineless Republicans,” she said.

Notably, attention wasn’t solely on the embattled Republicans. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., criticized his colleague Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., suggesting Menendez’s actions were even more severe than Santos’s.

“We have a colleague in the Senate that actually does much more sinister and serious kinds of things,” Fetterman said of Menendez in an interview with The View. “Senator Menendez, he needs to go.”

Santos’s expulsion followed a federal 23-count indictment on campaign and fraud violations, coupled with a scathing House Ethics Committee report. The report accused Santos of using campaign funds for an adult website subscription and luxury item purchases.

Although House GOP leaders — House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.; House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La.; Reps. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Tom Emmer, R-Minn. — voted to retain Santos in Congress, their support wasn’t enough to save the embattled lawmaker.

In viral footage, a Congressional worker is seen changing the lock of Santos’s office, effectively barring him and his staffers from entry. Santos, on his way out, dismissed the press, stating, “I no longer have to answer a single question,” as reporters confronted him while leaving.

The rebuke against Santos’s expulsion was loudly heard on Twitter:
