Trump Lawyer Lambasts Stephanopoulos Over Biden’s Influence in Trial

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Donald Trump’s attorney, Will Scharf, confronted ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos regarding the partisanship influencing the trials against the former president, including his recent conviction.

The heated exchange centered on whether politics played a role in the Manhattan trial of Trump.

“Of course, the attorney general of Manhattan has nothing to do with the Department of Justice,” Stephanopoulos claimed, incorrectly referring to Alvin Bragg’s title.

Scharf quickly interjected: “I vehemently disagree that the district attorney in New York was not politically motivated here, and I vehemently disagree that President Biden and his political allies aren’t up to their necks in this prosecution.”

Stephanopoulos countered, “There’s no evidence here of that sir. … I’m not going to let you continue to say that — there’s zero evidence of that.”

Despite Stephanopoulos’s claims, Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, ran for office on the pledge to prosecute Trump if elected. He also highlighted his experience in suing the Trump administration during his campaign.

When Stephanopoulos suggested Scharf had praised the jury instructions, Scharf responded, “I think: Hope for the best, plan for the worst, George. But I think when you look at the totality of the circumstances in this case.”

He added, “This is a prosecution that should have never been brought. This was a case tried in front of a judge that clearly should have recused. I think we have a lot of fair complaints with the way this trial was conducted and I think ultimately, President Trump will be vindicated on appeal.”

Texas GOP Blasts Trump Verdict, Calling it ‘Sham, Show Trial’

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) – Republican leaders in Texas are blasting the guilty verdict of President Donald Trump, arguing it was a “sham, show trial” in a “Kangaroo Court” that never should have happened.

A Manhattan jury on Thursday convicted Trump on all 34 counts in a trial over whether the former president falsified business records to disguise payments to an adult film star over an alleged affair. Last year, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered her to pay over $600,000 in Trump attorney fees in a civil case she brought.

In what critics described as a political witch hunt by a billionaire activist George Soros-backed district attorney, some legal analysts argue there was no case and key witnesses lied under oath.

After the verdict was issued, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said, “This was a sham show trial. The Kangaroo Court will never stand on appeal. Americans deserve better than a sitting U.S. President weaponizing our justice system against a political opponent – all to win an election. We must FIRE Joe Biden in November.”

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the guilty verdict “is an absolute travesty of our judicial system. There was no crime, and the prosecution’s star witness was a convicted liar and an admitted thief. The judge was biased against President Trump throughout the entire trial. This will be reversed at some point, but the Democrats got what they wanted – to prosecute and persecute a man they know they cannot beat in November.”

He also reiterated what many of his colleagues argue, “If the justice system can do this to a former president, it can do it to anyone in America. That should frighten every American.”

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said the “sham trial is an absolute travesty of justice. The absolute sham trial was designed with one purpose: to label Donald Trump as a ‘convicted felon.’ This was not law. This was not criminal justice. This was all politics. I’m here to tell you right now this will be reversed on appeal.”

U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, who endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president in the GOP primary, said, “The verdict was a foregone conclusion executed by a corrupt Manhattan legal regime for a specific desired political outcome. This charade has been nothing more than an affront to the rule of law and the fabric that has kept this country together.”

U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls said, “The Left has weaponized our nation’s justice system to attack Joe Biden’s top political opponent, President Trump. But it isn’t working. This show trial is election interference, and the American people know it.”

Nehls also noted that Merchan donated to President Biden’s campaign.

Congress Investigates California’s $128 Billion High-Speed Rail Project

(Kenneth Schrupp, The Center Square) – Congress is investigating California’s $128 billion high speed rail project, demanding the California High Speed Rail Authority provide information on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s “justification for continuing to fund the California High-Speed Rail project.”

California’s high speed rail project has completed environmental clearance for the entire downtown Los Angeles to downtown San Francisco phase, pending a board vote in the coming days. Now, the question remains whether the state and federal governments will fund the $128 billion project and how, especially as the state faces a $7 billion budget deficit this year even with the governor’s current proposed spending cuts.

The initial 171-mile segment connecting Bakersfield and Merced in California’s sparsely populated Central Valley will cost an estimated $33 billion. DOT’s recent $3.1 billion grant fulfills less than half of the Bakersfield to Merced segment’s $7 billion funding gap. With the nonpartisan, state-funded Legislative Analyst’s office projecting multiyear budget deficits at continued spending and taxation levels, it’s uncertain where the remaining funding for this segment — which is expected to carry passengers on just 6.61 million trips per year.

The rationale for building the first segment from Bakersfield to Merced over the more dense Northern California and Southern California corridors is that it “will carry more riders and deliver the most mobility, environmental and economic benefits for the lowest cost.”

However, with the 218-mile privately-built Los Angeles to Las Vegas on similarly even terrain expected to cost $12 billion and carry 11.1 million passengers per year, it’s unclear why, on a cost-basis alone, this segment is worth the cost.

The CHSRA Peer Review Group, which provides oversight for the project, noted, “there are few who would argue that completing this short section, by itself, at a cost of up to $35 billion, can be justified. Rather it would make sense only in the context of a commitment to building the complete … system.”

In other words, the Bakersfield-Merced segment makes sense in the context of providing a “backbone” to a larger state high speed rail system, but Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Congressman Sam Graves, R-Tarkio, have serious concerns “it would not be prudent to [fund that segment] unless the state could also commit to an additional $100 billion to build the entire system.”

“The California High Speed Rail project has critical issues indicating there is no reasonable path forward for successful completion of the project,” said the federal legislators in their letter requesting a briefing from CAHSR. “The prognosis for the full system is bleak, with an unfunded gap as high as $99 billion.”

The legislators requested that CAHSR provide answers regarding projected ridership, funding, and costs by June 12.

Fla. AG Moody Calls on Treasury to Stop Supporting ‘Cuba’s Communist Interests’

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) – Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody on Thursday called on U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to stop the agency’s “continued support of Cuba’s communist interests.”

She did so after Cuban-American lawmakers raised the alarm about Chinese spies operating in Cuba, reportedly targeting Cuban-Americans as well as about the Biden administration recently allowing Cuban regime officials to tour TSA facilities at the Miami International Airport.

She also did so after a former U.S. diplomat in Miami pleaded guilty to charges of acting as a secret agent for the Cuban government.

At issue is the Treasury Departmen issuing new regulatory changes to the Cuban Assets Control Regulations, known as the CACR amendments. They include authorizing Cuban nationals who identify as “independent private sector entrepreneurs” to open and use U.S. bank accounts regardless if they physically live in the U.S. They also authorize “U-Turn” transactions reversing a 2019 Treasury Department ban on the practice.

Under the previous administration, the Treasury Department banned such transactions to deny Cuba “access to hard currency” and to curb “the Cuban government’s bad behavior while continuing to support the long-suffering people of Cuba.”

The current policies, Moody says, benefit Cuba and “fly in the face of reasoned opposition and common sense.”

“President Biden continues to be manipulated by the Castro regime, and now for the first time in over 60 years, the U.S. will open its banking institutions to those who may bolster or be affiliated with the Communist dictatorship,” Moody said in a statement. “These ill-thought-out amendments will likely do little to help the suffering of the Cuban people and will only strengthen those bad actors who keep the Cuban people oppressed.”

Florida is home to the largest Cuban population in the United States, with the majority living in Miami. While Cubans have fled to Florida claiming freedom from persecution from the Cuban communist regime, Moody argues the CACR amendments “may do more to help the oppressors than the oppressed.”

Last year, the Biden administration considered implementing the CACR amendments but didn’t after receiving opposition from members of Congress and the Cuban American community. They emphasized there is no legitimate free enterprise in communist Cuba and any “entrepreneurs” are “under total government control” of the Cuban regime.

The current CACR amendments don’t require Cuban nationals using U.S. bank accounts to provide proof that they are not connected to members of the communist government.

As a result, the regulations “could potentially allow for businesses owned or controlled by relatives or associates of communist regime members to open bank accounts and infiltrate the American market by masquerading as ‘independent private sector entrepreneurs,’” Moody warned. Allowing U-turn transactions would only ensure more money would flow into communist Cuba and “make U.S. banking institutions a shiny new destination for those looking to launder money to or from Cuba,” she said.

Cuba is designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. Despite this, the Biden administration removed Cuba from the short list of countries deemed uncooperative on counterterrorism, Moody notes.

Cuban American Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Florida, and other Florida lawmakers have been sounding the alarm about Biden’s Cuba policies, including the TSA tour. In response, Gimenez introduced legislation to prevent the TSA from granting sensitive security access to agents from State Sponsors of Terrorism-designated countries.

“You’d think it unnecessary and commonsense, but commonsense isn’t very common in the Biden Administration,” he said.

He also sent a letter, with Florida Republican U.S. Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and TSA Administrator David Pekoske demanding answers about the Cuban TSA tour.

“Only under the Biden Administration would they allow a terrorist regime into our secure facilities at one of the busiest airports in America,” Rubio said, adding that he asked DHS officials “why they would be so oblivious.”

The TSA tour was the second time under Mayorkas’ watch that members of Cuba’s Communist Party have been invited to tour U.S. facilities, the Florida lawmakers said. In February 2023, the U.S. Coast Guard invited Cuban officials to visit USCG headquarters in Washington, D.C., and tour U.S. port facilities in Wilmington, North Carolina. In response, language was added to the fiscal 2024 National Defense Authorization Act to prohibit such tours from occurring in the future.

Trump Takes TikTok by Storm: Gains Over 1 Million Followers in 24 Hours

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Former President Donald Trump’s new TikTok page has quickly gained over one million followers, with his first video earning over 23 million views in less than 24 hours.

Trump’s decision to join TikTok came during his attendance at UFC 302, as he seeks to return to the White House after the 2024 general election.

“The president is now on TikTok,” UFC president Dana White announced in the video.

“It’s my honor,” Trump responded in the clip.

In contrast, President Joe Biden’s campaign page has 336,000 followers.

Both Biden and Trump have previously pledged to ban TikTok, a Chinese-owned social media platform that is the fastest-growing in the country.

In April 2024, Biden signed a bill threatening to ban TikTok unless its parent company, ByteDance, sells it.

Despite supporting the legislation and amid national security concerns, Biden continues to use the social media platform.

Trump, however, has opposed the TikTok ban bill, arguing it would empower Facebook, which he has called the “enemy of the people.”

“There’s a lot of good and there’s a lot of bad with TikTok, but the thing I don’t like is that without TikTok, you’re going to make Facebook bigger, and I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people, along with a lot of the media,” Trump said during an interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box in March.

Trump Unveils ‘Revenge’ Strategy After Conviction by Dem-Led Jury

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Former President Donald Trump has outlined his “revenge” plan following a jury conviction in Manhattan, where he was found guilty of falsifying business records in a trial led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

In an interview with Fox News’s Fox & Friends Weekend, Trump affirmed that his revenge “will be success,” specifically, winning the 2024 presidential election against incumbent President Joe Biden.

“These are bad people,” Trump said, referring to those leading the legal actions against him.

“These people are sick, and they do things that are so destructive… if it weren’t me, they’d be going after somebody else, and I know a lot of the competition. They wouldn’t do so well,” he added.

The conviction stemmed from payments made by Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen to former porn star Stormy Daniels.

Bragg revived the case after it had been previously declined by his predecessor, Cyrus Vance Jr., and federal prosecutors.

Bragg argued that Trump’s payments to Cohen were part of a reimbursement plan that should have been declared as a campaign contribution rather than as business payments.

Trump has consistently denounced Bragg and the trial as a “sham,” framing it as part of a broader effort to derail his 2024 presidential campaign.

Democrats have long argued, without evidence, that if elected president in November 2024, Trump would weaponize the DOJ against his opponents—mirroring what Democrats have done to him.

DoD Blunder: Pride Post Instead of PTSD Awareness

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Department of Defense’s Twitter page appears to have accidentally posted a graphic celebrating Pride Month when it intended to raise awareness for PTSD Awareness Month, according to a screenshot shared by journalist Julio Rosas.

The Pentagon’s Twitter post read, “June is PTSD Awareness Month and the DoD is committed to supporting service members and veterans affected by PTSD. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Reach out and learn more at ptsd.va.gov.”

The post concluded, “You are not alone.”

However, the post also included a “Celebrate Pride Month 2024” graphic, featuring the logos of the U.S. Armed Forces. According to Rosas, this photo was shared by mistake.

Pride Month and PTSD Awareness Month both take place in June.

In a separate post that garnered over 1.6 million views, the DoD stated, “Pride Month is a time to come together to honor the contributions of LGBTQ+ service members. We are committed to ensuring and promoting an atmosphere of dignity and respect for all civilian and military personnel.”

This apparent mishap comes as the Biden-led Department of Defense faces widespread criticism for allegedly promoting the left’s gender ideology and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives.

In April, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin faced tough questions about a policy related to DEI hiring and its potential impact on national security.

“How did the DEI hiring freeze affect DoD’s response to the drone strike in January that took the lives of three American servicemembers in Jordan?” wrote Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind. in a letter to Austin.

Biden Ally Suggests Trump Pardon ‘for the Good of the Country’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Should New York Gov. Kathy Hochul pardon former President Donald Trump following a guilty verdict led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg? One House Democrat believes she should.

On Friday, Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., took to Twitter, urging Hochul to pardon Trump for the nation’s sake.

“Donald Trump is a serial liar, cheater, and philanderer, a six-time declarer of corporate bankruptcy, an instigator of insurrection, and a convicted felon who thrives on portraying himself as a victim. @GovKathyHochul should pardon him for the good of the country,” Phillips wrote.

In a separate statement, the Democratic lawmaker issued a dire warning about the implications of a criminal conviction for Trump.

“You think pardoning is stupid?” Philips asked, “Making him a martyr over a payment to a porn star is stupid. (Election charges are entirely different.) It’s energizing his base, generating record sums of campaign cash, and will likely result in an electoral boost.”

Phillips’s remarks came after his unsuccessful bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, losing to incumbent President Joe Biden. He spent $5 million of his own money on the long-shot campaign but has since endorsed Biden.

According to the New York Post, Hochul is “unlikely” to issue a pardon. “I cannot image a world where she would consider doing this, this makes no sense,” an unnamed source told the newspaper.

Shortly after the conviction, Hochul claimed that “justice was served.”

Speaking on WLRN radio, she added, “In the state of New York, if you commit a crime, and there’s evidence to demonstrate that you have met the standards of being arrested and brought to a trial and a jury of your peers considers all the evidence, then their verdict must hold. … No one is above the law.”

Bill Maher: ‘Take This Hijab and Shove It’ – Calls Out Ignorance on Iran

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) HBO host Bill Maher had sharp criticism for college students protesting Israel’s military actions in the Gaza Strip while ignoring Iran’s oppressive policies towards women.

“Well, now that summer is here and Hamas-backing college protesters have dispersed back to their summer internships at Goldman Sachs, I thought it might be a good time to say this,” Maher began on the Friday edition of Real Time, addressing what he sees as the selective outrage aimed at Israel.

“Here’s the thing, today, hundreds of millions of women are treated worse than second-class citizens,” Maher added.

“When you mandate that one category of human beings don’t even have the right to show their face, that’s apartheid and it goes on a lot of countries,” he stated.

Maher drew attention to the plight of women in Iran, referencing the tragic case of Mahsa Amini.

“For the past couple of years, women in Iran have been saying, ‘Take this hijab and shove it’ because in 2022, a young woman named Mahsa Amini was arrested for wearing her mandatory hijab incorrectly and then died in police custody,” he continued.

He went on to state that over 500 individuals were killed in the subsequent protests following Amini’s death.

“How about defunding those police?” Maher asked. “Amnesty International says that ‘Iranian authorities are waging a war on women that subjects them to beatings, sexual violence and detention.”

“This is an apartheid that desperately needs your attention. Gender apartheid,” he said. “This is what should be the social justice issue of your time. How about, ‘From the river to the sea, every woman shall be free.’”

New Biden Scandal Emerges: Millions in Unpaid Alimony

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Hunter Biden finds himself entangled in a covert multi-million dollar civil case concerning unpaid alimony owed to his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, from whom he parted ways in 2017.

This alimony dispute, recently unveiled by Axios, coincides with reports suggesting that Buhle is poised to testify regarding Hunter Biden’s substance abuse and extravagant lifestyle in separate trials concerning alleged false statements on a gun purchase form and his failure to meet federal tax obligations.

The trial for the gun purchase is slated to commence on Monday, followed by the tax case on Sept. 5. The criminal trials, in addition to the alimony battle, add yet another layer of scandal to President Joe Biden’s re-election efforts.

As Axios reports, a D.C. judge ruled that Hunter Biden owed Buhle over $1.7 million in overdue spousal support, legal fees and accumulated interest since their 2017 divorce—mere years before Hunter Biden entered a relationship with his sister-in-law, Hallie Biden.

This ruling stemmed from a civil suit initiated by Buhle against the president’s son in 2019, shortly after his remarriage to Melissa Cohen Biden.

The divorce settlement mandated Hunter Biden to remit $37,000 monthly to his former spouse, in addition to 50% of any earnings surpassing $875,000 annually.

In a pattern reminiscent of his tax obligations, Hunter Biden failed to fulfill his spousal support commitments for 2017 and 2018, despite earning $2.4 million and $2.1 million, respectively, according to Axios.

Consequently, Hunter Biden is accountable to Buhle for $1.1 million, plus a 6% interest increment for the 2017 and 2018 alimony installments.

Axios reported that Hunter Biden ceased alimony payments following Buhle’s initiation of legal proceedings against him in June 2019.

After Buhle’s legal team endeavored to hold Hunter Biden in contempt for failing to remit $259,000 plus interest by an April 2020 deadline, Hunter Biden’s legal representatives requested the judge to await third-party intervention to mitigate potential embarrassment.

In July 2020, Hunter’s lawyer, Sarah Mancinelli, asserted, “It is likely hoped that there will be some financial intervention, funded by some third-party, to help Mr. Biden with these obligations, in an effort to avoid the anticipated embarrassment to his father’s presidential campaign.”

She firmly concluded, “There will be no intervention satisfying Mr. Biden’s obligations.”
