GOP Funding Bill Includes Billions for Globalist-Backed Illegal U.S. Invasion

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) It was revealed that a funding bill from House Republicans includes billions for the massive invasion of illegal aliens backed by the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The news about the globalists’ plan came as Steve Marchese, who previously spent 21 years working for the House Appropriations Committee, has been hired to lobby Congress to fund IOM, using American taxpayer dollars, Breitbart reported.

The House Appropriations Committee will consider a State Department funding bill for Fiscal Year 2025 on June 12, 2024. The bill currently includes nearly $2.5 billion that could go toward the IOM, which helps facilitate the invasion of illegals to the United States through the southern border.

RINOs tried to justify the funding by including a provision that vows “none of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act may be used to encourage, mobilize, publicize or manage mass-migration caravans towards the United States southwest border.”

“… not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall report to the appropriate congressional committees with analysis on the organization and funding of mass-migration caravans in the Western Hemisphere,” the bill stated.

The IOM and the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) were very important when it came to facilitating illegal immigration through the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Center for Immigration Studies’ Todd Bensman detailed the network of U.N.-led initiatives earlier this year that see billions in taxpayer money used to provide cash, debit cards, food, shelter, medical treatment and transportation to illegals trying to reach and cross the southern border.

Since the start of the Biden administration in early 2021, IOM officials have supported Biden’s globalist agenda when it came to illegal immigration, which has included an expansive catch-and-release network and a parole pipeline that has imported more than one million illegals into the country.

IOM officials have also lobbied the Biden administration to end Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” program, which made sure that illegals were not released into the country while waiting for their asylum hearings, instead being returned to Mexico until their court dates.

Support for Biden’s Student-Loan Shell Game Mirrors His Abysmal Approval Rating

(Headline USA) President Joe Biden hit a new low this week, with an approval rating of 37.4% as he desperately clings to his reelection campaign with a growing number of Democrats quietly discussing their desires to replace him.

Among Biden’s failures are the controversial effort to buy votes from young people by transferring their student-loan debt to the taxpayers at large. The Supreme Court previously ruled Biden’s executive action without congressional approval to be unconstitutional.

Nonetheless, he plowed ahead on new plans, assuming the student debt obligations for about 4 million people through existing programs, while operating under the assumption that any legal challenges would be too time consuming and costly, and would only reiterate what the court already ruled.

Yet, Biden’s plan, which has added significantly to the inflationary economy that all Americans are suffering under and the increased interest rates imposed by the Federal Reserve to address it, appears to have backfired in large part, with fewer people supporting his so-called student-loan amnesty than even support the president himself, even among those who have student loans.

Only Three in 10 U.S. adults say they approve of how Biden has handled the issue, while 4 in 10 disapprove, according to a new poll from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

The other 30% are neutral or don’t know enough to say.

The outlook wasn’t much better for the Democratic president among those responsible for unpaid student loan debt, either for themselves or for a family member: 36% approve, while 34% disapprove.

The poll reveals a deep divide over the issue of student debt relief even as Biden makes it a campaign priority.

The president is pressing ahead with his plan while he strives to stave off major losses in young adults and black and Hispanic Americans—groups that are more likely to support student-loan amnesty but have flocked to GOP rival Donald Trump for a variety of other reasons.

Asher Marshall was rooting for Biden’s first cancellation plan. It would have chipped away at his $52,000 in student loans. But in hindsight, Marshall says it’s clear Biden made a promise he couldn’t deliver without going through Congress.

“He suggested something that sounded good to a lot of individuals in this country, but there was no way for it to move forward from the onset,” said Marshall, 33, of Jacksonville, Illinois.

Melissa Mata also feels let down by the president. The Houston resident has $14,000 in student loans from a program she never finished, and she could have used the help that Biden promised.

Now she plans to sit out the November election or vote independent.

“They make these promises to get votes, but they don’t deliver. So I think for me, I wouldn’t trust it,” said Mata, 34, a bookkeeper.

Younger adults are more likely to prioritize government action on student debt, with about half under 45 saying it’s extremely or very important, compared to 3 in 10 older adults who said the same.

That is likely because those 45 and older already paid their debt off in full and resent the next generation not only taking a short cut, but doing so at their expense through lost federal revenues that ultimately belonged to taxpayers, not Biden.

Yet it is clear that the President and his supporters would like to muddle the message and claim it as a perk of his presidency, a sort of quid pro quo in return for votes.

Not surprisingly, only 15% of Republicans say loan amnesty is extremely or very important, compared to 58% of Democrats.

Neil Wolf, 49, repaid his student loans for two associate degrees, including a $23,000 loan he repaid in the 1990s. No one forces students to take out loans, and taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook to repay them, said Wolf, a Republican.

“We give too much away. You give everything away, nobody appreciates what they have,” said Wolf, of Denton, North Carolina. “Why should I pay for somebody else’s loans?”

Steve Lesyk, a Republican in Gap, Pennsylvania, said he could support cancellation in some cases. It makes sense for people who have racked up big sums of interest or have been paying off loans for decades, he said—two categories targeted in Biden’s new plan.

But in general, he opposes cancellation, saying it doesn’t do anything to prevent students from getting buried in debt in the first place.

“They’re asking people who’ve never had loans to pay back their loans,” said Lesyk, 58, who never had student loans. “This money doesn’t just appear out of the sky, it comes from somewhere, and there’s so many other things that people need right now.”

Biden’s new plan would erase some or all debt for several groups:

  • those with so much accrued interest that they owe more than they originally borrowed
  • those who have been repaying undergraduate loans for at least 20 years
  • borrowers who went to low-value college programs that leave graduates with large sums of debt compared to their earnings
  • those who face other kinds of financial hardship

None of those categories have support from a majority of Americans, the poll found. Just under half support relief for those who have made on-time payments for 20 years, and 44% support it for people who now owe more on their loan than they originally borrowed.

About 4 in 10 support it for those who went to an institution that left borrowers with large amounts of debt compared to their incomes or those facing other forms of financial hardship.

For each category, however, majorities of Democrats approved of the debt-redistribution scheme.

Support was also higher among those who are now repaying student debt compared to those who already paid it off. Almost 7 in 10 current borrowers support relief for people who have older loans, compared to half of Americans who previously paid student loans.

The highest support among previous loan holders was for those defrauded by their educational institution at 56%.

The poll of 1,309 adults was conducted May 16-21, 2024, using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Activist Releases Cringey Hidden-Mic Audio of Failed Effort to Trap Alito’s Wife

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A left-wing operative pretending to be a cocktail-party reveler secretly recorded her conversation with Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s wife, sharing the audio recording of the interview in a recent Twitter post, the Daily Beast reported.

Lauren Windsor, a partisan activist notorious for using false pretenses to promote disinformation, posted the recording of the cringey interview of Martha-Ann Alito on Monday as part of an apparent series that also included surreptitious interviews with Justice Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts.

It comes as leftist undertake what appears to be a well-funded and coordinated—albeit extremely reckless and destabilizing—effort to smear and undermine the high court in the hopes of turning public opinion against it so that Democrats can pack it with their own justices.

In the short term, activists are also hoping to force the court’s conservative justices, through veiled threats and coercion, to recuse themselves from any key decisions related to former President Donald Trump.

Following a hatchet piece on the Alitos by the New York Times that sought to gin up scandal based on a years-old photograph of an upside-down flag during a dispute with neighbors, leftist Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., tried and failed to demand that Alito testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Dropping f-bombs routinely and pretending to feel bad about it, Windsor desperately tried to bait Martha-Ann Alito into saying something inappropriate, particularly with respect to her recent media coverage.

But Mrs. Alito instead appeared jovial, albeit blunt in her critique of the attack-dog media, which she accused of trying to defame her.

“I was denigrated early on,” she said, noting that the first journalist to mock her fashion choices “won a Pulitzer Prize” for it.

“She was commenting on my clothes,” Alito recollected. “She said that I wore a baby blanket one day.”

As Windsor attempted pitifully to steer the conversation back to the flag situation, the justice’s wife continued to rail against the corporate media, focusing her ire on “feminazis,” in a nod to legendary radio pundit Rush Limbaugh.

She said it was these radical leftists who, ironically, were accusing her of being subservient to her husband in their effort to link him to the flag controversy.

“I don’t need their approval for anything in my life,” she said, noting that her husband “doesn’t control” her.

In a final, desperate attempt to stir up a scandal out of the benign interview, Windsor tried to call attention to Martha-Ann Alito’s Catholic faith.

“You know what I want?” Alito asked. “I want a Sacred Heart of Jesus flag because I have to look across the lagoon at the pride flag for the next month.”

June is traditionally a month reserved for the celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Despite the fact that Windsor failed to elicit any damning remarks from Martha-Ann Alito that would impact her husband’s role on the bench—and, in fact, came off appearing all the worse for her efforts, leftist media tried to make hay of the post, with the Daily Beast declaring she had gone “full MAGA.”

Far-Left SNL Writers Will Create Propaganda for Biden to Brainwash Youth

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Far-left writers, including those who worked for Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation, have been meeting every month for at least half a year to create propaganda for Won’t PAC Down, a new pro-Biden super PAC, to make young voters vote for him.

“[The super PAC brought on] millennial and Gen Z writers, directors and producers to help craft pro-Biden content that’s specifically engineered to sell an octogenarian candidate to typically disillusioned and hard-to-reach voters under 30,” Politico reported.

The first ads exclusively written for and by woke millennials and Gen Z will appear on social media platforms and in mainstream media in July.

Travis Helwig, a former head writer for Crooked Media and a current leader in the writer room, told the news source that the organization does not intend to over-use celebrity endorsements to make their young followers vote for Biden.

“There’s a big difference between putting a celebrity on camera and having them say, ‘if you liked me in ‘Madame Web,’ then you’re going to love voting,’ versus what we’re doing,” he said.

Helwig then continued to justify the new strategy by twisting it to make it look ethical and moral.

“We’re taking the best young writers and directors, who are the age and demographics of the people we’re targeting, using poll-tested messaging and shaping it in a way that will resonate with young people and get them excited,” he added.

Even though it wasn’t clear which directors and writers became involved in the propaganda machine, it is still clear that all of them are leftists.

SNL has never been on the right side of the political spectrum and it radicalized to the left even more after 2016 when the show’s writers got diagnosed with the Trump Derangement Syndrome.

The writers responsible for creating Parks and Recreation were not as blatant about their political ideology as those who worked for SNL. However, they still made sure to make Leslie Knope, the show’s main character, a feminist Democrat who idolizes Biden.

‘Decomposing in Real Time’: Biden Pulls a McConnell, Freezing for Half Min.

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Joe Biden appeared to freeze for nearly half a minute during an event celebrating Juneteenth on Monday.

Video from the event shows Biden observing a concert by gospel singer Kirk Franklin, alongside Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

As Franklin sang, Biden remained motionless for 30 seconds, reminiscent of the two health scares experienced by outgoing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who recently announced he would not seek re-election in 2024.

“Why isn’t Biden moving?” the Republican National Committee questioned on Twitter.

At 81, Biden is the oldest president in U.S. history—a fact that concerns a vast majority of American voters, according to several polls.

Biden faces a challenging re-election campaign and increasing competition from former President Donald Trump.

Despite the White House’s attempts to portray Biden as vigorous and energetic, numerous videos suggest otherwise.

On Tuesday, Biden struggled to speak at an anti-gun event for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “Biden is decomposing in real time,” the Republican National Committee’s research Twitter page remarked.

“Instead of trying to stop our men… and gun… ghost… kissed… contained these… they’re working like elders,” Biden incoherently stated.

During the same speech, Biden claimed he was a “professor at the University of Pennsylvania.” However, the president never taught a single class but received a generous salary of $1 million.

Slurring his speech, Biden added, “If they wanna think to take on government if we get out of line … guess what? They need F-15s! They don’t need a rifle!”

Earlier in his speech, Biden falsely claimed that Republicans want to ban the “AFT,” a government agency that does not exist, as the Republican Party noted on Twitter.

He likely meant the ATF, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives—but that is not what he said.

Maxine Waters Thanks ‘Critical Race Theory’ for Anti-Trump Prosecutors

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Far-left Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., appeared to praise Critical Race Theory for empowering prosecutors targeting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

During an interview with BET’s What’s at Stake series about the 2024 election, Waters urged black Americans to pursue higher education to “help change what goes on in this country.”

She then highlighted two black prosecutors and a judge currently leading cases against Trump.

“It’s so important for us to fight for education because when we do that, we can aspire to careers that would help change what goes on in this country and have a real democracy,” Waters began, before highlighting Attorney General Letitia James, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan.

“I want to give you an example of it. Right now, as Trump is on trial, you have Letitia James in New York, Fani Willis in Georgia, and then you have Tanya Chutkan, who is a judge—all have a role to play now: prosecutors and judges,” Waters boasted.

“If we ever should change the criminal justice system and get some justice, we’ve got to be in there. We’ve got to be educated and that’s why we are not going to give up because now we see what it means,” Waters added.

In her interview, the California Democrat claimed to have tweeted the following remark: “When they go low, black women are going to law school. When they go low, black men are becoming judges. When they go low, we are not giving up.”

Waters’s remarks appear to contradict claims by her own party that the charges and legal troubles facing Trump are not part of a targeted effort against him.

Her assertions also reference that James launched a civil lawsuit against the Trump Organization, dubiously claiming that Trump inflated the values of his properties to obtain generous loans and other financial perks.

Willis, a partisan Democrat, is leading RICO charges against Trump and other co-defendants over efforts to question the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a George Soros-tied Democrat who is also black, led a criminal trial against Trump over business records.

Both Bragg and James ran for public office in 2020 and 2019, respectively, on the pledge to use the justice system against Trump if elected.

Neo-McCarthyist George Clooney Tied to Secret Effort to Arrest Pro-Russia Journalists

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Hollywood leftists were once the victims of government persecution and censorship for expressing their support for the Soviet Union.

Fortunately, it was a brave journalist who helped give them their voice back in the era of McCarthyism, when many were blacklisted for from the industry due to their alleged communist sympathies.

Now, however, it seems Hollywood leftists have come full circle, aligning themselves with the authoritarian regimes, and working with them to persecute and censor journalists who express sympathies for the current Russian government.

At the center of it is the king of all hypocrites, George Clooney.

The Oscar-winning actor/director and prominent activist has reportedly been tied via his Clooney Foundation for Justice to attempts to silence and arrest European journalists whose coverage favors Russia, Natural News reported.

According to Anna Neistat, legal director for the CFJ’s Docket Project, “the most prominent Russian propagandists” are engaged in the creation of “war propaganda” and therefore must be punished.

As a result, she said, the organization is “submitting requests to initiate criminal proceedings in countries where this provision exists in the criminal code.”

Neistat said the organization was hoping to secure a sweeping, “EU-wide warrant,” which would mean the potential arrest and extradition of journalists to the country investigating them.

The strategy would be to take the journalists by surprise, securing “secret arrest warrants” before making any moves.

“It’s better if they are left guessing rather than receiving a clear warning,” Neistat said.

Clooney, whose father was a well-known newscaster, notably received his first Oscar nods for writing and directing the 2005 film Good Night, Good Luck, a thinly veiled attack at the George W. Bush administration’s support for the Patriot Act, which the Batman and Robin star has also suggested applies equally for the Trump administration.

The film depicts the conflict between anti-communist Sen. Joseph McCarthy, R-Wisc., and noted CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow, focusing on the theme of the media’s responsibility for allowing dissenters to be heard.

Clooney’s wife, Amal, a “human rights lawyer,” had a prominent role in an attempt by the  International Criminal Court, to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials over war crimes.

“I do not accept that any conflict should be beyond the reach of the law, nor that any perpetrator should be above the law,” she said at the time.

The “court” is not recognized by the U.S. or Israel and resulted in Congress passing a sanctions resolution against the ICC members, alarming Clooney enough that he was compelled to personally lobby the White House to prevent his wife from suffering any adverse consequences.

Clooney will join actress Julia Roberts, late night host Jimmy Kimmel, former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and other celebrity A-listers for a Los Angeles mega-fundraiser on behalf of President Joe Biden this weekend.

Good night, and good luck.

Judge Threatens Contempt against Newspaper for Publishing Trans Shooter’s Writings

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Nashville Judge I’Ashea Myles has ordered The Tennessee Star’s editor-in-chief to appear before her to consider whether she’ll hold them in contempt for publishing excerpts of transgender mass shooter Audrey Hale’s “manifesto.”

Judge Myles’s order follows The Star reporting last week that it obtained 80 pages of Hale’s writings from a journal discovered by the Metro Nashville Police Department. Since then, the newspaper has been dropping bombshell articles on a near-daily basis, as Headline USA has covered.

The Star is also a party to a lawsuit seeking Judge Myles to compel the MNPD to release Hale’s writings. As part of that lawsuit, Judge Myles ordered in February that if any of the parties in the lawsuit obtain Hale’s writings, they should submit them to her for review—and it’s that order that The Star may have violated.

Judge Myles was apparently unaware that The Star had published some of Hale’s writings until a local WSMV4 reporter called her office for comment. That reporter later bragged about triggering a contempt hearing against his fellow journalists.

“On Monday, June 10, 2024, this Court received a media call requesting comment or a statement from the Court regarding The Tennessee Star’s … alleged publication of certain purported documents and information that this Court has in its possession for in camera review in this matter,” Judge Myles said in her Monday order, setting a hearing for this Monday, June 17.

“Based on the foregoing, this Court sets a Show Cause hearing to determine why the alleged publication of certain purported documents by Petitioners Star Digital Media and Michael Leahy, as the Editor-in-Chief, does not violate the Orders of this Court subjecting them to contempt proceedings and sanctions.”

Police have said the writings that they collected as part of their investigation into the March 27, 2023, shooting at the Covenant School that killed three 9-year-old children and three adult staff members are public records. However, they have said they cannot be released until their investigation is concluded.

Despite law enforcement’s attempts to keep the manifesto secret, the first three pages the purported manifesto were leaked to conservative broadcaster Steven Crowder last November. The Nashville Police Department reportedly suspended seven detectives over the leak.

The portion of the manifesto that was leaked purportedly revealed Hale, who identified a transgender, had been planning the school shooting for years, and that she deliberately targeted “white privileged” “cr*****s” and “f****ts.”

“Can’t believe I’m doing this but I’m ready… I hope my victims aren’t,” Hale wrote. “My only fear is if anything goes wrong. I’ll do my best to prevent any of the sort. God let my wrath take over my anxiety. It might be 10 minutes tops. It might be 3-7. It’s gonna go quick. I hope I have a high death count. Ready to die.”

The more recent excerpts published by The Star reveal Hale’s transgender ideation.

“2007 was the birth of puberty blockers and a newfound discovery for treatment of non-conforming transgender children,” Hale reportedly wrote. “I’d kill to have those resources.”

FBI Executed ‘Disruptions’ in MAGA Groups ahead of J6, New Records Show

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The FBI released a new batch of heavily redacted Capitol Hill protest records on its website Friday, showing that the bureau executed “disruptions” inside MAGA groups ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, Stop the Steal rally.

In the context of FBI operations, the term “disruption” was made famous in the 1970s, when the FBI’s controversial Counterintelligence Program, or COINTELPRO, was revealed to the public. “Disruption operations” can include criminal arrests, but in the COINTELPRO era they referred to undercover FBI agents and informants infiltrating political groups to sow discord—employing tactics such as spreading rumors, sleeping with other members’ wives and attracting unwanted attention.

The FBI continues such tactics to this day, as has been documented in recent podcasts such as “Alphabet Boys.” Moreover, Newsweek has revealed that the bureau plans to disrupt MAGA groups ahead of the 2024 election—reporting last October that the FBI will resort to “infiltration of political circles and other controversial government activity. (emphasis added)”

When it comes to Jan. 6, the FBI’s disruptions are revealed in a Jan. 13, 2021, email. Senior FBI officials were apparently scrambling for information on what the FBI did before, during and after the Capitol Hill breach.

It’s not clear whether the FBI’s pre-Jan. 6 disruptions entailed actual arrests, or classic COINTELPRO-type tactics. That part of the email is redacted. The email also included post-Jan. 6 disruptions, listing the arrests and self-surrenders that occurred after the riots. That part of the email is redacted, too.

The latest batch of FBI records do include several reports that indicate what agents were investigating ahead of Jan. 6. One of the reports from Dec. 2020 indicates the FBI was looking at an Antifa member who might have planned to attend the Capitol Hill rally. That report is almost entirely redacted, but it does identify the case type as “anarchist extremist”—FBI parlance for Antifa.

Another report from the FBI’s latest J6 records shows the bureau opened an investigation before the 2020 election took place. The date of that FBI report is redacted, but it says the investigation was probing someone or some group that was “likely planning to conduct acts of violence related to the upcoming 2020 elections.”

Yet another report shows the FBI opened a “sensitive investigative matter,” which are investigations into the media, congressional offices, churches, legal defense teams and other “sensitive” institutions. The date of this report is redacted, but warned that the subject “is planning violent attacks to prevent president-elect Biden and vice president-elect Harris from taking office and to influence any potential decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Another report on the FBI’s sensitive investigation is dated Jan. 11, 2021—but the rest of that report is redacted.

Friday’s batch of FBI records marks the latest indication that the bureau had foreknowledge that Jan. 6 would result in violence.

In December 2022, an NBC News article quoted an unnamed FBI informant who said he made similar warnings.

The FBI confidential source told NBC News that they had “put together hundreds of pages of reports over the two weeks proceeding Jan. 6” for the bureau leading up to the attack.

“This didn’t go down the black hole of a web form or a tip line, this went to an agent directly,” the source reportedly said, adding that they were confident the information was passed onto FBI officials in D.C.

“To me, there’s no excuse to say, ‘We didn’t see this coming.’”

Hunter Biden Now a Convicted Felon

(Headline USA) In a stunning move that may reaffirm some faith in the judicial system for those jaded by the overt double-standard that has been exposed by lawfare attacks on former President Donald Trump, a Delaware jury convicted Hunter Biden of all three felony charges in a federal case that he lied about his drug addiction while purchasing a firearm.

The evidentiary record—including Hunter’s own notorious laptop and a memoir in which he openly acknowledges his drug addiction—made the case somewhat cut and dry from a legal standpoint, in stark contrast with the “frankencase” that Manhattan prosecutors used against Trump relying on novel legal theories and unspecified charges that a notoriously corrupt and biased judge nonetheless enabled to proceed.

Yet, despite the difference in the two cases, one concern underpinned both of them: the possibility that the jury in such politically charged cases might be unable to put aside personal biases.

In Trump’s case, the jury’s unanimous decision has raised serious questions about its impartiality—particularly following a scandal that exploded Friday when it was revealed that a Facebook post, reportedly from the cousin of a juror with advance, inside knowledge about the verdict, had been discovered on one of the court’s pages.

Such a case would be difficult to make for the Delaware jury that decided Hunter Biden’s guilt in the heart of Biden country—a state where his father served as senator for decades and his brother was once the attorney general.

Jurors found Hunter Biden guilty of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer in his 2018 purchase of a revolver, making a false claim on the application by saying he was not a drug user and illegally having the gun for 11 days.

He faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Maryellen Noreika, though first-time offenders do not get anywhere near the maximum, and it’s unclear whether she would give him time behind bars.

But with Hunter’s legal troubles closely paralleling Trump’s, Noreika’s decision may be responsive, in part, to the disposition from Judge Juan Merchan as to whether he will seek jail time for Trump in the Manhattan case—a move that some say could trigger a constitutional crisis and force immediate intervention from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Joe Biden has insisted he will not pardon his son, although he said nothing of the possibility that he might commute his sentence. Allies of the Democrat have worried about the toll that the trial—and now the conviction—will take on the 81-year-old, who has already faced considerable pressure to exit the presidential race due to his waning public approval and routine blunders, which suggest a sharp cognitive decline.

If anything were to lend the president a needed opening to make his graceful exit, the conviction would be it, perhaps allowing him to broker a deal with his successor, Kamala Harris, that would allow her to pardon Hunter.

Biden previously based his decision to drop out of the 2016 presidential race on the ongoing grief he felt surrounding the loss of his other son, Beau, although the decision to drop out did not come until months after Beau’s death.

Hunter Biden’s legal troubles aren’t over. He faces a trial in September in California on charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes. Meanwhile, congressional Republicans have recently filed a recommendation that the Justice Department charge him and his uncle James Biden with perjury over their testimony in an ongoing impeachment probe.

The prosecution devoted much of the trial to highlighting the seriousness of Hunter Biden’s drug problem, through highly personal testimony and embarrassing evidence.

Jurors heard Hunter’s ex-wife and a former girlfriend—who also happened to be Beau’s widow, Hallie Biden—testify about his habitual crack use and their failed efforts to help him get clean.

Jurors saw images of the president’s son bare-chested and disheveled in a filthy room, and half-naked holding crack pipes. And jurors watched video of his crack cocaine weighed on a scale.

Prosecutors felt the evidence was necessary to prove that Hunter, 54, was in the throes of addiction when he bought the gun and therefore lied when he checked “no” on the form that asked whether he was “an unlawful user of, or addicted to” drugs.

Hunter Biden did not testify but jurors heard his voice when prosecutors played audio excerpts of his 2021 memoir Beautiful Things, in which he talks about hitting bottom after Beau’s death, and his descent into drugs before his eventual sobriety.

Nonetheless, some have remained skeptical that Hunter is fully sober as he has continued to enjoy a party lifestyle. Speculation ran rampant last year that a bag of cocaine discovered at the White House likely belonged to him, although the Secret Service clamped down on the investigation, offering no public resolution.

That echoed the agency’s earlier complicity in Hunter’s gun felonies, where it was revealed in text messages from his laptop that Secret Service agents had assisted in retrieving the gun and covering up the scandal.

Defense attorney Abbe Lowell had argued that Hunter Biden’s state of mind was different when he wrote the book than when he bought the gun—when he didn’t believe he had an addiction.

Lowell pointed out to jurors that some of the questions on the firearms transaction record are in the present tense, such as “are you an unlawful user of or addicted to” drugs.

And Lowell suggested Hunter might have felt he had a drinking problem at the time, but not a drug problem. Alcohol abuse does not preclude a gun purchase.

The revelation from IRS whistleblowers that the Justice Department had been slow-walking the cases while hoping to allow their statutes of limitations to expire put added pressure on then-U.S. attorney David Weiss and his investigating prosecutors to pursue the cases in good faith.

Hunter had hoped last year to resolve the long-running investigation federal investigation under a sweetheart plea deal with prosecutors that would avoided the spectacle of a trial so close to the 2024 election. Under the deal, he would have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor tax offenses and avoid prosecution in the gun case if he stayed out of trouble for two years.

But the deal fell apart after Noreika, who was nominated by Trump, questioned unusual aspects of the proposed agreement, and the lawyers could not resolve the matter.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Weiss as a special counsel last August, and a month later Hunter was indicted.

Despite the evidence that several agencies appeared to be colluding with the Biden family and the White House to cover up the crimes, Hunter has claimed the Justice Department bowed to pressure from Republicans over the special treatment.

The reason that law enforcement raised any questions about the revolver was because Hallie Biden, Beau’s widow, found it unloaded in Hunter’s truck on Oct. 23, 2018, panicked and tossed it into a garbage can at Janssen’s Market, where a man inadvertently fished it out of the trash. She testified about the episode in court.

Hallie eventually called the police. Officers retrieved the gun from the man who inadvertently took the gun, along with other recyclables from the trash. The case was eventually closed because of lack of cooperation from Hunter Biden, who was considered the victim.
