Prosecutors Drop J6 Obstruction Charges After SCOTUS Ruling

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Federal prosecutors dropped charges for some protesters on Jan. 6, 2021, after the Supreme Court narrowed the government’s use of the count.

Since the justices ruled 6-3 that the government overreached in its sweeping prosecution of people who protested that day, the Justice Department has scrambled to redefine its use of the affected charge: obstruction of an official proceeding, The Hill reported.

However, court filings indicated that, in some instances, dropping the charge altogether has proved more efficient.

This is what happened in the case of Arthur Jackman, a member of the Proud Boys. The organization was later accused of preventing Democrats from stealing the 2020 election by refusing to replace Donald Trump with Joe Biden.

Even though Jackman was not accused of helping the Proud Boys plot, he faced other charges, such as trespassing and misbehaving. Court papers showed that he and his co-defendants were offered plea deals.

Prosecutors also extended a plea deal to Kellye SoRelle, an attorney for the group Oath Keepers and girlfriend of its leader, Stewart Rhodes, who was convicted of seditious conspiracy and sentenced to 18 years in prison.

The news source also reported that several Jan. 6, 2021, defendants whose cases are being overseen by U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols have also seen federal prosecutors move to have their obstruction counts dropped.

Nichols initially dismissed the obstruction charge against Joseph Fischer, the rioter who brought his case to the Supreme Court.

Prosecutors also asked on July 16, 2024, to drop the obstruction charge against Gina Bisignano, a California beautician who stormed the Capitol in designer apparel and shouted, “You are not going to take away our Trumpy Bear” into a bullhorn.

In addition, prosecutors also moved to dismiss the charge against Mark Sahady, vice president of the Massachusetts-based conservative political group Super Happy Fun America, citing similar reasons.

Republicans Point Fingers after Gay Hookup Site Grindr Crashes at RNC

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In an unexpected intersection in politics, the gay hookup app Grindr suffered an outage near the Republican National Convention (RNC), prompting speculation that the convention attendees might be responsible.

This scenario isn’t far-fetched given the Republican Party’s efforts under President Donald Trump to appeal to all Americans, as evidenced by the diverse guests invited to speak at the RNC.

Over 1,000 individuals reported that Grindr went out of service in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area on Wednesday, where the RNC is taking place, according to the Daily Mail, citing data from Downdetector.

A Grindr spokesperson did not immediately respond to Headline USA’s request for comments about the alleged Milwaukee outage.

Former Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., reacted to the alleged outage at the RNC, with satire news site Halfway Post calling it “basically Grindr’s Super Bowl.”

In a video message, Santos said, “Just come out of the closet boys! Come on! It’s fun! You can be gay and conservative. But look Grindr has already outed you based on the hits. Guess who’s in town? It’s all you conservatives.”

A video of a user on Grindr, claiming to be at the RNC, appeared online, showing several active profiles. However, a Headline USA review found the video was taken at a Troye Sivan concert. Sivan is a popular gay singer.

According to the Mail, this would not be the first time Grindr has crashed at conservative events, as it reportedly went out of service at the 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference.

The alleged outage comes after the RNC amended its party platform to remove what some considered anti-same-sex marriage language and included a section promoting a “culture that values the sanctity of marriage.”

Trump praised the platform in a Truth Social post, writing, “Ours is a forward-looking Agenda with strong promises that we will accomplish very quickly when we win the White House and Republican Majorities in the House and Senate.”

In 2020, Trump became the first U.S. president to have an openly gay cabinet member when Rick Grenell became acting director of national intelligence.

“President Trump is the most pro-gay president in American history. I can prove it,” Grenell said in a video released by the Log Cabin Republicans ahead of the 2020 election.

In contrast, Biden has voiced anti-gay opinions since his early years as a senator in the late 1970s.

In 1973, Biden referred to gay individuals as “security risks” under civil service regulations. He also voted for the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996.

Far-Left Google Hides Trump Campaign Website

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Google continued censoring Donald Trump’s campaign website in its search engine and propping up his political opponents.

After searching Google using a “clean environment” (without the influence of prior search history and tracking cookies), MRC researchers discovered that Google completely eliminated Trump’s website from the top 100 search results while pushing Joe Biden’s campaign website up to the number one spot.

Researchers conducted three separate searches for the top three political candidate names and the words “presidential race 2024.” They discovered that instead of showing Trump’s campaign website, Google just brought up 2024 election updates, including news articles, polls and commentaries that mainly were biased against Trump.

On the other hand, the search giant didn’t have a problem displaying Biden’s campaign website as the first result in an equivalent search. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s website appeared as the fourth result in a similar search.

“Other left-wing media outlets and platforms are taking a pause from their anti-Trump tactics, but not Google. The search giant has doubled down on its anti-American, election interference strategies,” MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider said.

Schneider then highlighted that Google’s current actions are one of the reasons Biden got into the White House, aside from Democrats’ apparent meddling in the 2020 election.

“People who often do political searches on their computers will likely get different results since Google tracks their search history. But this study reflects a much darker, more sinister behavior at Google. It is through this kind of data manipulation that Google swayed millions of votes in the 2020 election. It must not be allowed to corrupt our democracy,” he said.

The influence of the search engine could not be overstated. According to Brian Dean, a search engine optimization expert, Google is the most popular search engine on the planet, holding a market share of nearly 92% worldwide.

In his blog, Backlinko, Dean also stated that “The #1 Result in Google Gets 27.6% of All Clicks” and has a “10x higher [Click Through Rate] compared to the #10 result.” Other studies supported this claim.

Legendary Fox News Host Dies Suddenly

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) The death of longtime newsman Lou Dobbs took many by surprise Thursday after his family announced it via social media channels, while a recent absence suggested that the 78-year-old may have been suffering from an extended illness.

No immediate cause of death was given.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of ‘the great Lou Dobbs,'” said the statement.

“Lou was a fighter till the very end—fighting for what mattered to him the most, God, his family and the country,” it continued. “Lou’s legacy will forever live on as a patriot and a great American. We ask for your prayers for Lou’s wonderful wife Debi, children and grandchildren.”

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, who was due to deliver his acceptance speech Thursday night at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, issued a statement around 4 p.m. via Truth Social expressing his condolences to his longtime friend and supporter.

“He understood the World, and what was “happening,” better than others,” Trump wrote. “Lou was unique in so many ways, and loved our Country.”

In 2020, Trump noted that he watched Dobbs’s show “all the time,” and called it a “very important show” with a “tremendous audience.”

Dobbs’s influence on Trump’s political development may, in fact, be seen in two of the issues he most championed: his opposition to illegal immigration and his skepticism over Barack Obama’s American citizenship.

Trump became the public face of the so-called birther movement, which continued to gain steam until Obama’s long-lost long-form birth certificate was conveniently discovered in 2011, more than two years into his presidency, quelling any further discussion about his legitimacy.

A fitting testament to his legacy as a truth seeker, the deep-state-infiltrated New York Times took the occasion of Dobbs’s obituary to smear him, saying he “used his platforms at CNN and Fox Business to promote baseless conspiracy theories.”

The Times has yet to return the Pulitzer Prizes it received for its false reporting on the 2016 Russia collusion hoax, nor to issue any retractions for its false reporting about Joe Biden and his family, despite recent acknowledgements that leftist media were complicit in concealing the president’s infirmities.

“[I]t was not immediately clear where or when he died,” the newspaper noted incredulously. “Mr. Dobbs had been absent from ‘The Great America Show,’ his podcast on the iHeartRadio network, for several weeks.”

Dobbs earned his reputation as a financial journalist at CNN, where he spent nearly 30 years before the network’s reinvention as a leftist propaganda platform. Dobbs then gravitated to its top rival, Fox, in 2009, where he became a fixture on the Fox Business Network mixing financial reporting with opinion commentary.

The cancellation of Lou Dobbs Tonight in 2021 came in connection with the $2.7 billion  defamation lawsuit waged by Smartmatic, which accused the network of spreading falsehoods about its role in the stolen 2020 election.

In addition to Dobbs, it named as defendants hosts Maria Bartiromo and Judge Jeanine Pirro, both of whom remain on air at the network. Fox claimed the decision to cancel Dobbs had been made independently of the lawsuit.

In a statement to the Washington Post, a Fox News spokesperson conveyed the company’s grief.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lou Dobbs,” it said. “An incredible business mind with a gift for broadcasting, Lou helped pioneer cable news into a successful and influential industry. We are immensely grateful for his many contributions and send our heartfelt condolences to his family.”

CNN, likewise, added its own condolences in a statement that Dobbs himself undoubtedly would have disavowed, calling him “one of the CNN originals, who helped launch and shape the network.”

Leading lawmakers also offered their tributes, including Reps. James Comer, R-Ky., and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, the respective chairs of the House Oversight and Judiciary committees.

Secret Service Director Swarmed by Sens. Demanding Answers at RNC

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Senators and attendees of the Republican National Convention swarmed Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle at the conference on Wednesday, demanding answers on the apparent incompetence of the agency and insisting she resign in disgrace, according to Townhall.

After the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on Saturday, investigations revealed several security lapses, which Cheatle excused very poorly.

Convention-goers rightfully had several questions about both the sloped roof and several other inconsistencies with the crime, and aired them when Cheatle arrived at the convention.

A group of senators, including Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. and John Barasso, R-Wyo., walked through the timeline of the assassination in an attempt to get some answers.

Cheatle tried to make a break for it, walking up a steeply sloped set of stairs without issue in order to get away from the questioning.

Many of the questions had to do with the timeline of the shooting. The would-be assassin, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, was recognized as a suspicious person an hour before the shooting.

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee launched an investigation into the assassination attempt, issuing a subpoena requesting Cheatle appear before the committee.

Cheatle said she will attend the hearing.

Amid all the other revelations, a briefing by the Secret Service admitted that they identified Crooks as a threat 10 minutes before Trump took the stage.

They did not tell him about the threat and allowed him to take the stage.

The Secret Service agent in charge of security for the rally was on the phone with local and state police as the shooting took place.

Crooks also visited the rally site the day before the event.

Despite the confrontation between Cheatle and the senators at the convention, some people claimed that the Senate should also be held responsible for allowing the Biden administration to run amok these last four years.

“[The Senate] created arrogant, inept, defiant apparatchiks like Kim Cheatle,” said Julie Kelly of RealClear Investigations in a Twitter post. “By abdicating their oversight duties they have empowered the Kim Cheatles and Alejandro Mayorkases and the Merrick Garlands and the Chris Wrays to name a few. Even worse, in many cases, they protected them.”

Despite Prison Lockup, Bannon Debuts New Documentary at GOP Convention

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) WarRoom host Steve Bannon is forging ahead with the release of a new documentary, Government Gangsters, even while doing time behind bars in a Connecticut prison, Revolver News reported.

The film debuted Thursday afternoon during the Republican National Convention, with a screening at the Miller High Life Theater, ahead of its public release on Friday, when it will be available for digital purchase ($20.24) or seven-day rental ($9.99) at its website.

The book on which it was based was described as a “brilliant roadmap highlighting every corrupt actor, to ultimately return our agencies and departments to work for the American People,” according to former President Donald Trump “…[W]e will use this blueprint to help us take back the White House and remove these Gangsters from all of Government!”

It touches on topics including the Russia-collusion hoax, both Trump impeachment attempts and the Hunter Biden laptop cover-up.

Bannon was one of the documentary’s three producers, along with the book’s author, Kash Patel—a top national security staffer during the Trump administration, who also stars in the film.

Victory Film Group’s Dan Fleuette, a longtime writing and producing partner of Bannon’s, rounds out the producing trio, adding his technical expertise into the mix.

“Of all the films Steve and I have worked on together, this might just be our finest
achievement yet. This film is powerful, insightful, and oftentimes infuriating,” Fleuette said in a press release.

“… Additionally, I am proud to dedicate this film [to] Federal Inmate #05635-509 Stephen K. Bannon[,] Political Prisoner[,] FCI Danbury Federal Correctional Institution,” Fleuette added. “Without his vision and unceasing support and insights, this film would not have been possible.”

Bannon himself said in the press release that the release may further tip the scales in what Republicans hope will be the long-awaited red-wave election that will help restore normalcy to America.

“This is the type of movie that can change this election,” he said.

“By sharing this with your family and friends, you can make a difference,” he added. “This could result in a two-to-five-point swing in the polls on November 5th.”

But given the rampant vote fraud and corruption perpetrated by bad actors in the deep state, the film might also be a reminder of the depths to which they will stoop to retain power—something of which Bannon currently needs no reminder.

For Fleuette, the documentary will “leave audiences questioning the very foundations of government integrity,” also calling it a “wake-up call” for the American citizenry.

Government Gangsters was not the only cinematic fare being screened this year at the RNC.

It was joined by several early showings of Dennis Quaid’s upcoming biopic, Reagan, set for release to the general public in August.

Reagan “is a cinematic journey of overcoming the odds,” according to a description online. “Told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent who followed [former President Ronald] Reagan’s ascent, Reagan captures the indomitable spirit of the American dream.”

Quaid himself made a splash in the media earlier this year, betraying Hollywood by publicly announcing that he intended to vote for Trump in the 2024 election.

“It just makes sense,” Quaid told Piers Morgan, suggesting that the left has issued “a challenge to our Constitution” by way of its lawfare practices.

The film costars fellow conservative Jon Voight as Petrovich and several other well-known actors (including American Beauty star Mena Suvari as Reagan’s first wife, Jane Wyman) who may now find their way onto Republican “safe” lists.

Poll: Trump Leading Biden in Midwest Swing States

(Thérèse Boudreaux, The Center Square) Former President Donald Trump leads President Biden by 3 points in Michigan and 5 points in Wisconsin, according to the results of a new Emerson College poll.

The poll, conducted July 15-16 and released Thursday, surveyed around 1,000 likely voters per swing state. Democrats for the Next Generation sponsored the poll, which has a +/-3% margin of error.

Among Michigan voters, Trump leads Biden 45%-42%. The partisan makeup of Michigan respondents was 37% Democrats, 37% Republicans, and 25% Independents.

The difference between candidate preference appeared more stark in Wisconsin, with 48% of voters choosing Trump versus 43% choosing Biden. The partisan makeup of Wisconsin respondents were 33% Democrats, 36% Republicans, and 30% Independents.

The results come as the Republican National Convention wraps up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“Recent polling shows Biden losing support more significantly than Trump gaining it since the attempted assassination,” Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimble said. “This raises questions about whether Biden’s decline is still influenced by the debate or if Trump has reached his support ceiling.”

Biden also faces discouraging results regarding his fitness for a second term, with more than 65% of Michigan and Wisconsin respondents believing he is unfit to be the next president. However, a little more than half of those respondents believe Trump is unfit for office as well.

The president has acknowledged concerns about his age in recent weeks, but says he is still committed to running.

“I’ve been doing this a long time, I know I’m not a young guy,” Biden posted to social media Monday. “But I’ve gotten more done than any president has in a long, long time. I’m willing to be judged on that.”

Trump Predicted Secret Service DEI Disaster 10 Years Ago

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Saturday’s bumbling performance by Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail would have been comical if it didn’t result in the death of a firefighter, the hospitalization of two others and the near death of the presidential frontrunner.

Nevertheless, the female Secret Service agents have been panned for their Keystone Cop-like performance. One woman agent appeared to have trouble even holstering her gun, while another was pictured seemingly hiding behind Trump when other agents were shielding him.

Numerous observers have blamed the federal government’s diversity, equity and inclusion policies for how those women became agents in the first place.

It turns out, Trump predicated such a situation 10 years ago on Twitter.

“The woman who is the Secret Service Director looks like she is way over her head. Why can’t the president appoint the best and the brightest?” Trump tweeted on Oct. 1, 2014, referring to then-director Julia Pierson—who was replaced on the day of Trump’s tweet by Joseph Clancy, according to Wikipedia.

Trump’s 10-year-old post recirculated Thursday, the same day Yahoo News reported more details of the Secret Service’s DEI policies.

According to Yahoo, the executive director of the Secret Services’ Office of Equity, Loucious Hires III,  on the official government podcast “Standing Post” in February 2023. The agency said at the time that it was striving to be the “gold standard” of DEI in a recruitment brochure that same year.

During the podcast, Hires reportedly outlined how every action at the Secret Service should be informed by DEI. He reportedly claimed the ideology makes the organization stronger. Every employee should consider how every action is reflective of equity, according to the director, as reported by Yahoo.

“I could talk on and on what the agency is doing to promote diversity, equity and inclusion… DEI is every action every day. So the opportunity for improvement for every employee within the Secret Service is to ask themselves, ‘What action are you doing every day?’” Hires reportedly said.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is set to testify about her agency’s dramatic failures this Monday before the House Oversight Committee.

DEI critics noticed that Trump has been exclusively surrounded by male-only Secret Service agents when he attended the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this week.

Republicans Sue Whitmer, Benson Over Voter Registration Agencies

(Therese Boudreaux, The Center Square) Michigan’s governor, secretary of state and three other officials are facing a lawsuit filed by the Trump campaign this week over granting some government offices the power to conduct voter registration.

Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive order in December meant to designate certain state offices, including the Small Business Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs, to act as voter registration agencies.

The governor said this would make it easier for Michiganders to obtain election information and register to vote and provide a much-needed update to the list of Michigan’s voter registration agencies after 30 years.

Following the directive, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson entered into an agreement with the SBA to use its offices across Michigan accordingly. Whitmer designated the VA as a voter registration agency at the time of signing the order.

The RNC alleges these actions violated Michigan law, which grants the authority to designate new voter registration agencies solely to the legislature.

“Gretchen Whitmer is the Governor of Michigan. She is the chief executive officer for the State of Michigan with the duty to execute and enforce the laws as written, not as she wishes them to be,” the suit reads.

While a previous governor, Republican John Engler, issued a directive to authorize more state offices to provide voter registration after the 1993 passage of the National Voter Registration Act, the lawsuit claims this authority was not binding.

Republicans argue that besides illegality, the act undermines election integrity by making it easier for ineligible voters to register and causing confusion over which state agencies can legally offer voter registration services. For these reasons, they added counts of violating the National Voter Registration Act and the Administrative Procedures Act to the suit.

“The federal government should not be using American taxpayers’ dollars to conduct unauthorized voter registration activities,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said. “This is an illegal attempt by Biden, Whitmer, Benson, and the party in power to manipulate our country’s most important election. We are committed to stopping this election integrity violation and securing our elections.”

The plaintiffs seek a court injunction to bar the state from using the new voter registration sites.

Democrats have labeled the suit as a partisan attack on election access.

“It’s, unfortunately, no surprise that Trump and the MAGA Republican Party are once again attacking our elections and planting distrust in our democratic systems – but this time, they are trying to make it harder for veterans and small business owners to register to vote,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes in a statement. “In the face of this ongoing extremism, Michigan Democrats are standing strong against Trump and his allies’ attempts to chip away at the foundation of our democracy.”

Whistleblowers: FBI Was Involved in Preparing Security for Deadly Trump Rally

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The FBI is investigating Saturday’s assassination attempt against presidential frontrunner Donald Trump—but does that mean the bureau will be probing its own failures?

Purported whistleblowers have told the House Judiciary Committee that the FBI was involved in the two briefings regarding the July 13 campaign rally.

“Whistleblowers have disclosed to the Committee that the USSS led two briefings … with the Western Pennsylvania Fusion Center (WPFC) and other stakeholders, to discuss the upcoming, unrelated visits by President Trump and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. The USSS Special Agent in Charge Tim Burke reportedly told law enforcement partners that the USSS had limited resources that week …,” said Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, in a Thursday letter to FBI Director Chris Wray.

Jordan acknowledged that the FBI was just one of many agencies involved with the Trump rally security meetings, it is the lead federal investigative arm and a key source of intelligence on potential threats for special events.

“The Committee has several unanswered questions about the failures that led to the attempted assassination of a president—the first in over forty years—as well as the FBI’s ability to conduct a rapid, transparent, and thorough investigation in the wake of its recent scandals,” Jordan added in his letter to Wray.

Jordan asked Wray 12 questions, including how many FBI personnel are currently investigating the Trump shooting, whether the FBI interviewed the local police officer who encountered the shooter, and whether there was coordination between the FBI, USSS, and the WPFC prior to Saturday’s rally.

Additionally, Jordan asked about Crooks’s online activity. The FBI claimed hours after the shooting that Crooks acted along, before agents even hacked into his phone.

Along with the questions, Jordan asked for the FBI’s records on the Trump rally, including threat assessments conducted or prepared before the event.

Wray is set to testify to the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is set to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Saturday.
