Michael Moore Urges Biden to Cancel Student Loans, Abolish Death Penalty Before Leaving Office

(Chris Cella Jr., Headline USA) Left-wing activist and filmmaker Michael Moore issued a bold call to President Joe Biden as his term nears its end, urging him in a blog post to cancel student debt, eliminate the death penalty and halt aid to Israel, among a list of other items.

Moore encouraged the lame-duck president to take decisive action during his last 100 days in office, referring to it as an opportunity to fulfill his political “bucket list.”

He specifically urged the president to forgive all student and medical debt, stating that a few strokes of his pen could significantly improve the lives of millions—despite the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly denied Biden’s attempts to declare student-loan amnesty without congressional approval.

Moore criticized Biden for continuing to support Israel, accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of violating international red lines and disrespecting the U.S., “spitting in [Biden’s] face.”

He described the ongoing support as “funding a genocide” in the Middle East in an anti-Israel rant and insisted that Biden must stop this aid immediately.

Additionally, he called for the president to “empty federal death row” by abolishing the death penalty altogether. These proposals were among the 13 items Moore included in his blog.

“You don’t answer to anyone,” Moore emphasized, reminding Biden that he is not a lame-duck president. “For the first time in 50 years, you don’t have to campaign for anything. You are the opposite of lame … and you are not a duck.”

Moore expressed confidence that Biden could leave the White House a hero by unilaterally enacting significant reforms before his term ends.

Moore highlighted Biden’s unique position: “With just a stroke or two of your presidential pen, you can make life better for millions in ways you never would’ve dreamed possible.”

He reminded the president of his immunity from prosecution for official acts, referencing a July Supreme Court decision writing, “The Supreme Court has just granted you super powers—AND immunity!”

Known for his documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, Moore reiterated that Biden ultimately answers to the people who elected him, stating, “The only people you have to answer to is us. The people who put you there.”

While the implementation of these policies would be unconstitutional, bordering on authoritarianism, Moore maintained that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is the real threat to democracy, as he has often espoused over the last nine years.

Earlier this year, Moore urged Biden to resign from office immediately after he dropped out of the race in order to give Vice President Kamala Harris a better chance as the incumbent president.

Moore, who accurately predicted the outcome of the 2016 election against prevailing expert analyses, recently stated that Trump’s chances in 2024 are “toast.”

In 2018, he released the documentary film Fahrenheit 11/9, which examined Trump’s rise to power.

Trump Campaign Seeking Military-Grade Protection as Assassination Threats Persist

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The Trump campaign has requested military aircraft for the presidential frontrunner to use during the final week of his campaign, as alleged assassination threats from Iran and other bad actors persist.

The New York Times first reported on Trump’s request Friday, citing four officials who were briefed on the matter.

“The campaign’s requests for more security, one of the people said, included sophisticated, classified military assets that are used only for sitting presidents; the pre-placement of ballistic, or bullet-resistant, glass in the main battleground states where he would be campaigning most frequently; and an expansion of temporary flight restrictions over Mr. Trump’s residences and campaign sites,” NYT reported.

“The Trump team in effect is looking for him to be protected at the same level that President Biden is. Mr. Trump’s team has been told that he is being given the highest level of protection available, though no candidate or former president receives what a sitting president does.”

The Washington Post also published an article on the matter Friday, after reviewing internal emails about the matter.

According to the Post, Trump campaign manager Susan Wiles has complained to Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe about having to cancel a public event at the last minute because of a “lack of personnel” from the Secret Service.

Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., who sites on the House Intelligence Committee, has also reportedly written to the Secret Service about the matter, asking for military aircraft or additional protection for Trump’s private plane.

Anthony Guglielmi told the Post in a statement that Trump is receiving “the highest levels of protection.”

“Assistance from the Department of Defense is regularly provided for the former president’s protection, to include explosive ordnance disposal, canine units, and airlift transportation,” he reportedly said.

“Additionally, the former president is receiving the highest level of technical security assets which include unmanned aerial vehicles, counter unmanned aerial surveillance systems, ballistics and other advanced technology systems.”

Reports on Trump’s requests for military-grade protection come about two weeks after Trump was forced  to cancel an outdoor rally set for the key battleground state of Wisconsin, due to the Secret Service denying him resources to secure the event. On the same night of Rowe’s remarks, his Secret Service secured a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Madison, Wisconsin.

According to a Secret Service whistleblower, the agency recently told the Trump campaign that it lacked sufficient assets to secure a potential campaign rally in Wisconsin for the former president.

Other whistleblowers allege that failure to provide protection for a major public event is highly unusual, and that a sitting president would never be denied resources in this way.

Kamala Harris Accused of Stealing Sections of her Criminal-Justice Book from Wikipedia

(Matthew Doarnberger, Headline USA) Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris was accused of plagiarizing large sections of her 2009 book Smart on Crime.

Conservative activist Christopher Rufo posted an article highlighting discoveries that Harris lifted verbatim language from sources without citing them.

Media researcher Stefan Weber, who is known for exposing plagiarism internationally, discovered at least a dozen examples of plagiarized material found in the book, according to Breitbart.

Weber cited a section of Harris’s book that was copied almost entirely from Wikipedia without reference, while falsifying where the information came from.

“Kamala Harris copied virtually an entire Wikipedia article into her book without providing attribution to Wikipedia,” Weber noted. “Harris fabricated a source reference, inventing a nonexistent page number.”

In further analyzing the trend, Rufo discussed more examples of plagiarism from the Smart on Crime book. He cited passages taken from an AP/NBC News report, a press release from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and promotional language from an Urban Institute report in order to describe a non-profit group.

None of these instances gave proper credit to the sources where the information came from.

Rufo then explained how, even if Harris used third-party assistance to write the book, she still shouldn’t be left off the hook for these obvious infractions.

“Of course, Harris, like many other public figures, may have relied entirely on a ghostwriter to draft her book,” he said. “But that is not exculpatory: Harris, at the end of the day, put her name on the cover.”

This isn’t Harris’ first controversy dealing with the plagiarism issue. Just last month, her campaign was accused of copying and pasting policies from President Joe Biden’s website onto her own.

The posting of the policies came seven weeks after Harris became the Democratic Party’s nominee following the decision from Biden not to seek a second term.

Kamala Harris to Sit Down w/ Fox News in First Formal Interview

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris will sit down with Fox News anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday for her first ever interview on the network.

Despite serving as vice president for 1,363 days, Harris has yet to be interviewed by Fox News, the highest-rated cable news channel in the U.S.

Baier will anchor his 6 p.m. show Special Report from the battleground state of Pennsylvania the day of his interview with Harris, according to Fox News.

Fox News did not say whether Harris’s interview would be live or taped. The network also did not clarify whether the Democrat nominee’s interview would be edited.

The announcement comes after Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate, appeared on Fox News Sunday two weeks in a row.

In his first Fox News Sunday appearance, Walz sparred with Fox News anchor Shannon Bream over the abortion law he signed, which allows women to end their pre-born children’s lives at any stage of pregnancy.

In his second post-debate appearance on Fox News, Walz attempted to walk back his recent remarks that the Electoral College “needs to go.”

“I think what the point was on this is they see us in battleground states and not across the country, so the campaign’s position is clear on this,” Walz told Bream. “That’s not to get rid of the Electoral College, but it’s to focus on every vote, and I think your viewers out there listening want to see these campaigns in every corner, talking to every person.”

Harris’s interview on Fox News comes as the Democrat candidate has reversed course and participated in various—mostly friendly—media appearances. She faced backlash after 60 Minutes aired two different answers to the same question on Israel.

Last week, Harris also sat down with the Call Her Daddy podcast, ABC’s The View, Stephen Colbert and Howard Stern.

She also conducted a townhall with Latino voters, during which she was criticized both for appropriating a Latino accent and for reading off a teleprompter.

Time Magazine Owner Blasts Harris for Rejecting Interview Requests

(Headline USA) The owner of Time magazine blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for rejecting multiple interview requests from the prominent left-leaning publication ahead of November’s election.

Marc Benioff, the billionaire co-founder of Salesforce, bought Time magazine in 2018. He noted that since he’s been in charge of the publication, every presidential candidate has agreed to sit down for interviews during their campaigns, including former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

Harris, however, has rebuffed every one of the magazine’s interview requests.

“Despite multiple requests, TIME has not been granted an interview with Kamala Harris — unlike every other Presidential candidate,” Benioff wrote on X.

“We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full,” he continued. “Why isn’t the Vice President engaging with the public on the same level? #TrustMatters #TransparencyMatters #Leadership.”

Despite Harris’s rejections, Time magazine published another predictably glowing profile of Harris on Friday.

The magazine published a similar puff-piece about Harris in August, after the vice president took over the top of the Democratic ticket. Harris also refused to speak to Time then.

For most of her campaign, Harris has avoided the media. In the past couple of weeks, however, Harris has opted to appear on friendlier shows, including The View, The Howard Stern Show and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The result has been a cataclysmic drop in the polls for Harris, who is now in a dead-heat with Trump, according to the latest NBC polls.

The poll marks a five-point drop for Harris from NBC’s last poll in September, which found her leading Trump 49% to 44%.

“As summer has turned to fall, any signs of momentum for Kamala Harris have stopped,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt, who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff.

Horwitt noted that Harris’s initial refusal to sit down for interviews likely hurt her, since voters still have significant questions about her campaign and its proposals.

“The challenge for Kamala Harris: Can she meet the moment and fill in the blanks that voters have about her?” he said.

She is scheduled to be interviewed by Fox News host Bret Baier later this week, in what could prove to be her biggest challenge yet.

Although the appearance that Harris is losing momentum may be a negative, it could also be the latest leg in her astroturfed three-month-old campaign with early voting now open in many swing states. The perception that she is tied or trailing may help drive more Democrats to the polls in advance of Election Day.

Trump Says He’ll Make Elon Musk His ‘Secretary of Cost Cutting’

(Headline USA) Former President Donald Trump hinted at a creating new White House position if re-elected next month, saying he would make billionaire Elon Musk his “secretary of cost cutting,” Rolling Stone reported.

Trump made the comment during an interview for Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, after being asked whether he plans to address the federal government’s bloated bureaucracy and, if so, which agencies he would consider cutting.

“You’ve also said that there’s a lot of fat in government that you would want to part of,” Bartiromo said. “So, what agencies would you want to shut down?”

Trump said Musk—whose portfolio of companies includes SpaceX, X and Tesla—would be better suited to answer the question.

“Let me have you ask another person that, because I’m going to have Elon Musk. He is dying to do this,” Trump said.

“You know, he’s a great business guy,” the former president continued. “You think of him for science and rockets, but you know what? He’s a great business guy, and he’s a great cost-cutter. You’ve seen that. And he said, ‘I could cut costs without affecting anybody.’”

When asked if that meant Musk would be given an official Cabinet position in the prospective Republican administration, Trump said Musk’s role would be informal.

“Not in the Cabinet. He doesn’t want to be in the Cabinet; he just wants to be in charge of cost-cutting,” Trump said. “We’ll have a new position: secretary of cost-cutting. OK? Elon wants to do that.”

Trump went on to hint that the reason Musk doesn’t want a formal Cabinet position is because he’s “running a big business” and would likely have to make certain divestments to accept the position.

“And besides that, I want him to send a rocket up to Mars,” Trump added. “He’s made me a promise, he’ll get to Mars before the end of my administration—which will be long before, hopefully, China or Russia.”

Trump previously floated a potential role for Musk after the tech mogul endorsed Trump this summer. Musk expressed interest in return, saying, “I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises. No pay, no title, no recognition is needed.”

Whitmer Apologizes For Bizarre TikTok Mocking Catholic Communion

(Headline USA) Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer apologized this week for a bizarre TikTok video, in which she appeared to mock a sacred Catholic rite.

In the video, the Democrat was seen taking a Doritos chip out of a bag and placing it into the mouth of a kneeling leftist podcaster, Liz Plank. The video then panned to Whitmer, who was wearing a camouflage Harris–Walz hat.

The bizarre clip was seen by religious leaders as a spoof of the Catholic Church’s communion, during which Catholic parishioners kneel to receive the Eucharist sacraments directly from a bishop or priest.

According to the doctrine of transubstantiation, the blessed wafer is literally transformed into the body of Jesus Christ.

“It is not just distasteful or ‘strange;’ it is an all-too-familiar example of an elected official mocking religious persons and their practices,” said Paul A. Long, president and CEO of the Michigan Catholic Conference, in a statement afterward.

Whitmer, however, tried to claim the video was intended to spotlight the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act, which allocated nearly $53 billion toward building the U.S.’s own semiconductor supply chain.

“What was supposed to be a video about the importance of the CHIPS Act to Michigan jobs, has been construed as something it was never intended to be, and I apologize for that,” she claimed, according to Fox 2.

“Over 25 years in public service, I would never do something to denigrate someone’s faith,” she continued. “I’ve used my platform to stand up for people’s right to hold and practice their personal religious beliefs.”

The governor also claimed her team has spoken to the Michigan Catholic Conference to resolve the issue.

Long confirmed Whitmer’s office reached out to his organization, but said that “while dialogue on this issue with the governor’s office is appreciated,” and regardless of “whether … insulting Catholics and the Eucharist was the intent,” the video was “offensive” to many.

“People of this state and across the country have grown tired of and continue to express their alarm at the bar of civility and respect toward people of faith lowering by the day,” Long added.

Calif. Sheriff Accuses Trump-Backing Nevada Man of 3rd ‘Assassination’ Attempt

(Julianna Frieman, Headline USA) A California sheriff accused a Trump rallygoer of trying to stage a third assassination attempt against the GOP nominee on Saturday despite the fact that he appeared to be a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump and a former Republican candidate for office.

Deputies searched the vehicle of Nevada-based activist and independent journalist Vem Miller as he sought to enter Trump’s rally Saturday in Coachella.

They reportedly found multiple firearms, fake press credentials and fake IDs after noticing his vehicle was unregistered at a police checkpoint.

The 49-year-old was arrested on weapons charges and released on $5,000 bail, according to the New York Post.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said Sunday during a press conference that he “probably did have deputies that prevented the third assassination attempt,” slamming those who believed he was being overly dramatic.

Bianco, who endorsed Trump in June, also cited Miller’s “homemade” license plate, messy vehicle interior and the loaded handgun and shotgun inside as reasons for his reaction.

Miller uploaded a video to Rumble early Monday from a “cheap motel room” in order to counter what he said were false and defamatory statements being released by law-enforcement officials.

In it, he claimed that the arresting officer handing his case wanted to “make an example of a Trump supporter” and had made overtely anti-Trump remarks.

He said that the body-camera footage and other evidence taken on the scene would support his statements.

“During this time, I hear this arresting officer call me a ‘MAGAt’ and ‘one of those dumb Trump people’ to a female officer,” Miller said in the video.

“And he didn’t know that I had overheard what he said. “At this point it becomes very clear that this arresting officers’ goal was to make an example of a Trump supporter.”

Miller referred to himself and his media company, the America Happens Network, as “staunch supporters of President Donald Trump” and the Constitution.

He also revealed that he had previously run for the Nevada state legislature in 2022 and said he was a Trump Caucus Captain and a Team Trump leader.

Miller explained that at the rally on Saturday he had pulled up to someone in a sheriff’s vest and had the “common courtesy and respect” to disclose his possession of the firearms in the back of his truck.

He denied his special-entry pass was counterfeit, and he claimed that he had complied when police officers pulled him over, handcuffed him and placed him in the back of a police car.

“I don’t know ever in the history of human kind where there’s been an individual like me that’s rolled up and said, ‘I have two firearms in my trunk,’ clearly indicating that I’m not there to cause any problems,” he observed.

Miller also claimed to have health problems related to blood-sugar levels, which he said worsened after waiting inside the police car for one hour. He alleged officers refused to let him drink “supplements” mixed in water over concerns he would harm himself.

“What this body-cam will expose is that this police officer came up to me and he basically said that ‘Look, we just wanna make sure your firearms are properly registered, that they’re lawfully purchased. I say, ‘Sure,” Miller claimed.

Miller said he informed officers of the exact location of the guns before they “completely ransacked” everything in his car. He also claimed to have at one point offered to make a U-turn, as he did not need to attend Trump’s Coachella rally for content.

Miller’s personal Instagram account, which remained accessible as of Monday morning, contains conservative memes, screenshots of news articles and photos with prominent figures in the MAGA movement.

Photos posted on the account show Miller attended the Republican National Convention in July. He was photographed beside noteworthy figures including former Trump advisor Stephen Miller, actor Dennis Quaid, Fox News host Greg Gutfeld, former 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and women’s rights activist Riley Gaines. He also filmed video close to former first son Donald Trump Jr.

Miller made a post declaring his intent to “fight” for Trump and “break the [deep state]” one day after the former president was shot in Butler, Pa., on July 13.

He is also seen posing for photos with former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and actor Russell Brand.

SCOOP: FEMA Ordered N.C. Workers to ‘Stand Down’ over Phony Militia Rumor

Update: This article initially reported that the rumors about militias hunting FEMA workers were “dubious.”  Shortly after publication, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office told Headline USA that the reported rumors were indeed false. This article has been updated accordingly.

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The Federal Emergency Management Agency told hurricane relief workers in Rutherford County, North Carolina to “stand down” after receiving a phony rumor that an “armed militia” was “hunting” FEMA employees in the area.

The Substack account Hotshot Wake Up first reported FEMA’s stand-down order on Sunday, reporting that FEMA sent out communications to  Incident Management Teams, telling them to “stand down”and “evacuate immediately” in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

The Washington Post reported later on Sunday that the notification came from an official with the U.S. Forest Service, who said that “FEMA has advised all federal responders Rutherford County, NC, to stand down and evacuate the county immediately. The message stated that National Guard troops ‘had come across x2 trucks of armed militia saying there were out hunting FEMA.’”

The Post admitted that “it was unclear whether the quoted threat was seen as credible.” And sure enough, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office debunked the rumors in an email to Headline USA on Monday.

It turns out, a lone 44-year-old man allegedly made a comment on Saturday about possibly harming FEMA employees in the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock area. But no militias were involved, the sheriff’s office told this publication.

The suspect, William Jacob Parsons of Bostic, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with Going Armed to the Terror of the Public. He was allegedly armed with a handgun and a rifle. Parsons received a $10,000 dollar secured bond, and was released later the same evening from the Rutherford County Detention Center, the sheriff added.

“The initial report stated there was a truck load of militia that was involved. However, after further investigation, it was determined Parsons acted alone and there were no truck loads of militia going to Lake Lure,” the sheriff concluded in his press release.

But that didn’t stop FEMA from halting work in an area that continues to reel from Hurricane Helene, which has killed at least 250 people there.

Hot Shot Wakeup reported Sunday that other federal agencies have resumed work—but not FEMA—while WaPo said that personnel were “back in place” by Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a FEMA spokesperson told WBTV in Charlotte that some “operational adjustments” were made for safety issues. But the spokesperson didn’t confirm whether there was an active threat.

“FEMA continues to support communities impacted by Helene and help survivors apply for assistance,” the spokesperson reportedly wrote.

“For the safety of our dedicated staff and the disaster survivors we are helping, FEMA has made some operational adjustments. Disaster Recovery Centers will continue to be open as scheduled, survivors continue to register for assistance, and we continue to help the people of North Carolina with their recovery.”

How the November Election Could Impact Precious Metals Investors

(Clint Siegner, Money Metals News Service) Donald Trump is picking up steam in recent polling. Bullion investors are tuned into presidential politics, this year perhaps more than ever. They wonder what the November election might mean for markets.

Absent some radical development, such as an assassination, either Trump or Harris will be president come January. Investors should prepare for either outcome.

If Trump wins, will markets behave similarly to what happened during his first term? Bullion prices fared well, gaining between 40% – 50%. Silver prices rose from the $17 range in November 2016 to a bit over $24/oz by election day in 2020. Gold went from under $1,300/oz to more than $1,900/oz.

Trump’s first term was also a buyer’s market for physical bullion. Demand was relatively weak and premiums (the amount above melt value that it costs to buy bullion products) were the lowest they have been in recent times.

alt_text

Investors anticipating a repeat of this market action could view his reelection as an opportunity to buy – bearing in mind that any post-election softness in investment buying of precious metals could also translate into a temporary dip in spot prices.

Likewise, the election of Kamala Harris, could be viewed as an opportunity based on what happened to prices during her tenure as Vice President. Thus far, gold and silver are up 40% and 30% respectively.

There was unprecedented demand for bullion in the early part of the Biden presidency. COVID-19, geopolitical turmoil, and lack of faith in Biden and his government motivated waves of Americans to buy gold and silver coins, rounds and bars.

Demand for physical bullion drove premiums through the roof, though they have since come down.

Using history as a guide to timing your investment might make sense, but there is no assurance history will repeat, or even rhyme. Much has changed in the world. While the precious metals markets are sensitive to geopolitics, basing investment decisions solely upon which person sits in the oval office would be beyond foolish.

Consider; it isn’t just the past two presidencies which have mattered.

Metal prices trended higher during the last four presidential administrations, because they all had something fundamental going on in the background. Central bankers went completely berserk. Among other things they have enabled the government to grow unrestrained by serving as the buyer of last resort for metastasizing federal debt.

The sharp swerve toward centrally planned markets over the past 24 years has also undermined confidence in key institutions, which stimulated demand for precious metals. This will almost certainly continue, regardless of what happens in November.

Americans and people around the world are living in chaotic and inflationary times. The upcoming election isn’t likely to change that.
