Calif. Law Gives Sanctuary for Abortion, Protects from Law Enforcement of Other States

"It's a really strong step forward if the goal is to make California sort of this sanctuary state for abortion information."

(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law this week that protects data relating to abortion in companies headquartered in California.

Axios reported, “The law allows those firms to resist efforts by other states serve them with warrants in the course of enforcing anti-abortion laws.”

Specifically, Axios reported, “AB1242 blocks out-of-state law enforcement officers from using California law to execute search warrants on California corporations to investigate abortions that are legal in the state.”

This law is another move in the ongoing kulturkampf raging in America over abortion.

Assemblywoman Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, D-Calif., approved of the bill. She told Axios that the law “gives [tech companies] a way to protect the privacy of their customers… We have given a tool to our tech companies to be our partner in protecting health privacy.”

Bauer-Kahan told Axios that she is working with the Biden White House about the bill and advocating for other states to adopt such a law. She said, “The more states that would like to do this, the better.”

Additionally, Hayley Tsukayama, a self-proclaimed activist, working with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, also weighed in on the bill. She said, “It’s a really strong step forward if the goal is to make California sort of this sanctuary state for abortion information.”

This law, of course, is just one more point of contention surrounding abortion since he Dobbs decision began forcing Democrats Uncomfortably to the left. Other notable stories include:

  • An unjustified arrest of a pro-life activist over a scuffle outside of Planned Parenthood
  • Arizona leftists vowing to attack a long-standing anti-abortion law
  • A Catholic Bishop declaring war on a Michigan Pro-Abortion Constitutional Amendment
  • The Department of Veteran’s Affairs declared it will ignore state laws and perform abortions
  • New Mexico is creating a $10 million abortion clinic to facilitate baby-killing-tourism”We’re seeing legislative strategies in states that are outlawing abortion, so we’re trying to respond in kind, where abortion is legal.”

“We’re seeing legislative strategies in states that are outlawing abortion, so we’re trying to respond in kind, where abortion is legal,” Tsukayama crowed.
