House Republicans Seek to Defund Harvard over Civil Rights Breach

(Eli Pacheco, Headline USA) House Republicans, led by Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., are calling for the federal government to end payments and tax breaks to Harvard University because of its failure to curb anti-Semitism on campus, according to the New York Post.

“We must defund the rot in America’s higher education,” Stefanik told the Post.

The Post attributed $676 million of Harvard’s $6 billion budget directly to federal government funds. Another $2.4 billion came from virtually tax-free investments, and $1.3 billion from tuition, including student loans.

This funding helped Harvard become the richest institution of higher learning in the world, according to the Post report.

It also reported that Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., will introduce a bill, H.R. 6220, calling for steep consequences for colleges that encourage anti-Semitism.

“Schools make out like bandits, indoctrinating our youth with hate and delusion, all while taxpayers fund the whole thing,” Crane told the Post. “My bill starts to combat this scheme.”

The federal Department of Education is investigating Harvard’s embattled president, Claudine Gay, for possible civil rights violations. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act protects groups such as Jewish students, who have drawn the ire of pro-Hamas protests on campus.

The Harvard Corporation allowed Gay to keep her position, even after damning testimony in Congress about anti-Semitism. She later apologized for her statement that calling for Jewish genocide did not automatically break campus rules.

Funding from other sources is also under fire for Harvard. On Oct. 7, the day Hamas killed at least 1,200 Israelis and took 200 more hostage, 31 campus organizations professed support for the Muslim extremists.

Gay responded that the school had no control over those groups, prompting several wealthy donors to withdraw their support.

Idan Ofer, an Israeli shipping magnate believed to be Israel’s richest person, resigned from the executive board of Harvard’s Kennedy School of government, according to a Daily Caller report. Lex Wexner, Bath & Body Works founder, also pulled funding from its pro-Jewish philanthropic Wexner Foundation, according to the Boston Herald.

Swalwell Faces Possible Ethics Charge for Organizing Hunter Biden Stunt

(Headline USA) Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., could face an ethics investigation for “aiding and abetting” Hunter Biden after the first son defied a congressional subpoena on Wednesday.

According to congressional records, Swalwell reserved the space outside the U.S. Capitol for Hunter Biden’s surprise press briefing, which Biden held instead of appearing before the House Oversight Committee as ordered by lawmakers.

Swalwell was seen standing by Hunter Biden during the press conference, and admitted to reporters later that he agreed to help the first son.

“There is absolutely zero evidence Hunter or his father acted corruptly,” Swalwell claimed. “So I’m not going to sit quietly and let MAGA Republicans do [former President Donald Trump’s] bidding in Congress.”

He went on to accuse his Republican colleagues of weaponizing “Hunter’s past addiction to attack President Biden.”

Hunter Biden is just a “recovering addict who has admitted his mistakes and has been clean for many years,” he continued, according to Politico.

But Swalwell’s actions could result in an ethics probe, according to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif.

The Republican noted in a letter to the House Ethics and House Administration committees that Swalwell reserved the area designated for press conferences for 9:30 a.m., the same time as Biden’s scheduled closed-door deposition.

“By all appearances and reporting, the media space reservation by Congressman Swalwell — a member of the Judiciary Committee — was intended solely to allow Hunter Biden to fail to appear before these committees, publicly announce his refusal to comply with a dually-issued subpoena, and be in contempt of Congress,” Issa wrote in his letter.

Investigative journalist Paul Sperry also said sources connected to GOP House leadership had signaled they might hold the China-linked leftist lawmaker accountable.

Swalwell has already faced an ethics investigation this year over his ties to a Chinese spy. The Democrat allegedly had a romantic relationship with Christine Fang while he was serving on the House Intelligence Committee.

Following the ascension of Kevin McCarthy (who retired from the House on Thursday) to the speakership in January, Swalwell and fellow California Democrat Adam Schiff both were kicked off the Intelligence Committee due to concerns that they posed a national security threat.

Oversight Chair James Comer, R-Ohio, and House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, had earlier signaled that they would hold Biden in contempt of Congress, but it remained unclear whether they intended to follow through on the largely toothless threat.

In order for the president’s son to face any consequences, Attorney General Merrick Garland would have to agree to prosecute him and he would then have to be found guilty by a Democrat-stacked Washington, D.C., jury.

Planned Parenthood Took $1.8B of Taxpayers’ Money in 3 Years

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A new government report revealed that, between fiscal years 2019 and 2021, Planned Parenthood received $1.78 billion in taxpayer funds, which includes $90 million in small-business loans during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Government Accountability Office report that was released on Dec. 12, 2023, said that the country’s largest abortion provider — Planned Parenthood Federation of America — received $1.54 billion in direct payments from Medicare, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

It was also revealed that the baby-slaughtering company also got $148 million through Department of Health and Human Services grants or agreements and $90 million through Paycheck Protection Program [PPP] loans.

Republicans in Congress were alarmed by the report, noting that the PPP loans were designed to help small businesses with fewer than 500 employees — and PP “illegally” applied for the financial assistance, the New York Post reported.

“It is appalling that big abortion providers are continuing to receive billions of dollars in federal taxpayer funding. While small businesses struggled to make ends meet during the pandemic, Planned Parenthood illegally siphoned over $90 million from the Paycheck Protection Program, specifically designed to help our mom-and-pop shops keep their doors open,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said.

PP, a nonprofit organization with around 600 baby-murdering locations all around the country, performed 383,460 abortions in the fiscal year 2020, which is its highest reported figure, according to its annual report.

The Small Business Administration was warned by pro-life members of Congress that PP was ineligible for PPP loans, considering that the organization employs more than 16,000 people at its affiliates by providing funding.

“Federal taxpayer dollars should not be funneled to big abortion corporations like Planned Parenthood, which has killed over 9.3 million unborn children since 1970, including 1.11 million between 2019-2021. This money would have been better spent helping the businesses that were forced to close or providing comprehensive medical support for both women and children,” Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., who co-chairs the House Pro-Life Caucus, said.

The U.S. Agency for International Development [USAID] also gave away around $3.4 million in funds to the International Planned Parenthood Federation, MSI Reproductive Choices and four regional abortion providers.

It was revealed in a January Marist/Knights of Columbus poll that 78% of Americans oppose federal funds being used for abortion services overseas and 60% oppose American tax dollars being used to pay for abortions at home.

US Regulators Mandate Car Surveillance to ‘Detect Drunk Drivers’

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) On Dec. 12, 2023, auto safety regulators announced their desire to watch over the population of the United States by requiring car manufacturers to install surveillance technology in new cars, pretending that it is to detect drunk or impaired driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration [NHSTA] said that the advanced notice will help set potential alcohol-impairment detection technology in all new vehicles, according to the Daily Fetched.

These kinds of detection devices are required as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Congress passed back in 2021.

“It is tragic that drunk driving crashes are one of the leading causes of roadway fatalities in this country, and far too many lives are lost,” Polly Trottenberg, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s deputy secretary, said in a statement.

In 2021, 3,384 people were killed in drunk driving crashes, which cost $280 billion in lost wages, the statement said.

Alcohol-impaired deaths hit a nearly 15-year high, with more than 1,000 people killed due to drunk driving crashes in 2021, according to NHSTA.

“We are trying to see whether we can get it done. Does the technology exist in a way that is going to work every time?” Acting NHTSA Administrator Ann Carlson said.

She also added that there were close to 1 billion separate daily driving journeys in the United States.

“If it’s 99.9% accurate, you could have a million false positives. Those false positives could be somebody trying to get to the hospital for an emergency,” Carlson said.

On Dec. 13, 2023, Carlson separately told a U.S. House of Representatives committee that U.S. traffic deaths fell 4.5% in the first nine months of the year after sharply rising during the COVID-19 hysteria.

“While we are optimistic that we’re finally seeing a reversal of the record-high fatalities seen during the pandemic, this is not a cause for celebration,” according to Carlson’s written testimony.

It wasn’t the first time when the leftists in government made their attempts to become America’s Big Brother.

Two bills were passed at the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, forcing automakers to install dashcams for “spying on bad drivers” and implement a new “kill switch” technology that prevents drivers from using their cars in the first place.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg also vowed to redesign roads and “boost” car safety features like automatic emergency braking.

Pro-Hamas Thugs Target Jerry Seinfeld, Claim He’s ‘Complicit in Genocide’

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Jewish comedian Jerry Seinfeld has his stand-up performance disrupted by a pro-Hamas mob last Friday that accused the ’90s sitcom star of being “complicit in genocide.”

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Landmark Theater in Syracuse, New York, to voice their opposition to Seinfeld’s support for Israel, according to the Syracuse University paper, the Daily Orange.

They demanded that Israel stop defending itself and that the federal government cease sending aide to support its war in Gaza.

Demonstrators also decried a recently passed House resolution declaring anti-Zionism was akin to anti-Semitism.

“We have found ourselves at a point in history that is so crucial,” said a protestor named Hassan. “A time where a better world is truly within our grasp. It is precisely at moments like this we must come together and build everlasting solidarity with one another.”

A local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America launched the “Shut It Down 4 Palestine” protest, painting both Israel and the United States as villains.

“Israel continues to escalate its genocidal atrocities day by day: bombing and starving Palestinians indiscriminately,” the group said in an Instagram post. “And it’s doing so out in the open—with U.S. funding and weapons. The United States is directly responsible for every martyr’s death.”

Seinfeld did not respond to the protests directly but previously made statements condemning Hamas.

“I lived and worked on a Kibbutz in Israel when I was 16 and I have loved our Jewish homeland ever since. My heart is breaking from these attacks and atrocities, but we are also a very strong people in our hearts and minds,” he said in an Instagram post a few days after the initial attacks.

“We believe in justice, freedom, and equality,” he continued. “We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”

NAACP Leader Caught Calling Illegals ‘Savages’ and Rapists, Claims It Was AI

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Activists have called for the resignation of Teresa Haley, president of the Illinois State Conference NAACP, after she made anti-immigration remarks during a recent conference call, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Haley, a former NAACP Activist of the Year, made the comments in a virtual call with other NAACP leaders.

Specifically, she suggested that immigration harms urban blacks, who are ignored at the expense of illegal immigrants.

“Black people have been on the streets forever and ever, and nobody cares, because they say that we’re drug addicts, we’ve got mental health issues,” Haley ranted.

“But these immigrants who come over here, they’ve been raping people, they’ve been breaking into homes, they’re like savages as well,” she continued. “They don’t speak the language and they look at us like we’re crazy.”

When asked about her comments later, Haley said that the story was fabricated, noting that “with AI, anything is possible.”

In response, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker called the remarks “reprehensible” and urged her to take responsibility for them.

“I would hope that she would apologize for the remarks,” he said, noting that “immigrants in this country are all around us.”

Pritzker—the white, Jewish scion of the Hyatt hotel fortune—suggested that all Americans were immigrants, seeming to dismiss Haley’s argument in her rant that only blacks were brought to America involuntarily.

“Virtually all of us came here from somewhere else,” said the governor.

“So remarks like that are commentary on our entire society,” he added. “Extraordinarily inappropriate.”

Haley also was called out internally by Patrick Watson, former president of the DuPage County Branch NAACP.

According to Watson, Haley was engaged in language that could undermine the NAACP’s overall effort.

“This kind of rhetoric drives that kind of hate,” Watson said, distancing himself and the “black community” as a whole from Haley’s “hateful” speech.

“This is not the sentiment of the black community as a whole, it’s a vocal minority,” he added. “Public sentiment is very much in favor of helping migrants in DuPage. You can be for raising up your people without denigrating other people.”

Haley is not the only member of the black community to voice her frustration over the growing immigration problem, however.

The Biden administration’s open-border policies have disproportionately impacted the urban black community in places like Chicago and New York City as the two groups compete both for jobs and public welfare benefits—with illegal immigrants seeming to get the better end of the bargain.

In New York, for instance, longtime residents of the Queensbridge projects complained about the shortage of Thanksgiving turkeys.

A number of cities have begun turning away migrants or busing them elsewhere.

And some black members of the Chicago City Council have even proposed a measure to revoke its longstanding “sanctuary city” status on an upcoming ballot referendum.

“We have other Democratic cities—Denver, California, L.A., sending their people to Chicago, New York. They’re sending their migrants to Chicago. Why? Because they are saying, ‘We can’t take anymore,’” said Alderman Anthony Beale, who has backed the ballot measure, at a council meeting in November.

“Chicago has yet to say, ‘We can’t take anymore,’” he added. “We have to draw the line somewhere.”

Columbia Student Trashes Hillary Clinton’s Disappointing Class

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A liberal student at Columbia University penned a Huffington Post op-ed recently complaining that her idealist dreams had been dashed after taking a foreign policy course taught by Hillary Clinton this semester.

Columbia student Cate Twining–Ward wrote that, true to Clinton form, the course was short on substance and amounted to nothing more than political theater, the College Fix reported.

According to Twining–Ward, it “wasn’t really a class—it was a production.”

For that reason, she argued, the course was not adequately “empowering.”

Things went so far that every lecture was filmed by a professional camera crew.

“Together in class and on tape, we acted much like an audience at a late-night talk show, distracted by the cameras and yet immersed in the vanity of the production,” she wrote, noting that the students had very little leeway to engage organically.

“We followed an unspoken script where we were both active and passive at once—expected to laugh at certain anecdotes, but not encouraged to raise our hands.”

Further, Clinton routinely sidelined any serious questions about foreign affairs, particularly the Israel–Hamas conflict that has split the Left in half.

In the context of such discussions, she noted, “the discourse was often neutralized and students were referred to panels and events outside the lecture hall for answers.”

She may have had good reason for dodging that particular subject given the disruptions that pro-Hamas students created during and after the lectures while trying to confront her about it.

That included a walkout in November to protest the fact that Clinton had not spoken out publicly against a so-called doxxing truck that was parked outside the campus outing students for their anti-Semitic statements.

However, Twining–Ward said students were discouraged to raise their hands or ask questions throughout the course. On the final day of class—when Clinton was allegedly going to answer questions—all questions were selected in advance.

According to Twining–Ward, the class made her “question Columbia’s institutional priorities” after it brought in Clinton as a “celebrity professor” who treated students like “audience members.”

In response to the article, Rachel Szala, Columbia’s associate dean for communications and external relations, claimed that there was an “open Q&A for at least 20 minutes at the end of each class,” and added that the questions were not screened in advance.

Clinton was “adamant about the need for difficult conversations that challenge individual assumptions, and this is part of what they modeled in class,” Szala argued.

Rep. Higgins Gives More Details about Alleged FBI ‘Ghost Buses’ at Capitol on Jan. 6

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) It was a bold claim made by Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La., last month at a congressional hearing: Two busloads of FBI informants were sent to Washington DC to foment violence at the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill protest-turned-riot.

Days later, Higgins doubled down on his claim, telling Newsmax there were over 200 undercover agents embedded in the Jan. 6 crowd.

To date, Higgins hasn’t provided any actual evidence of his claims.

But in an interview released Thursday, Higgins told journalist Laura Logan more details about the alleged FBI “ghost buses” and their relation to the events of Jan. 6. He said he’s still working to track down more evidence, but what he’s found so far suggests an FBI entrapment operation.

According to Higgins, the two buses were the first to arrive at Union Station in DC around 5 a.m. They aroused the suspicion of another bus driver who arrived about 20 minutes later, in large part because they were completely painted over and had no identifying logos.

“He immediately noticed these buses were odd because they were totally painted over and it was a bad paint job. There were no markings, no phone numbers, no company name—totally outside the parameters of how charter buses are required to operate by the law. So he said, ‘These buses are weird,’” Higgins told Logan.

Moreover, the drivers of the two so-called ghost buses weren’t exiting the vehicles. Usually, the drivers at Union Station congregate with each other, Higgins said.

Then, the two drivers and all the passengers existed the vehicles at once, according to Higgins.

“Between 40 and 50 guys that [the bus driver and other witnesses] described as Trump supporters, they all disembark and gather in front of the two buses, and they had some sort of discussion or briefing—like the way a military leader addresses his troops,” Higgins told Logan.

“And they gather and went to the escalators, up into Union Station, and they were gone.”

Higgins said he’s still working to obtain video footage from Union Station to track the alleged undercovers agents’ movements.

Meanwhile, Higgins claimed to have evidence that should make the FBI nervous.

“We’ve identified one of those buses. And you know what that means? That means that’s their ass. Because a bus is a serial-numbered vehicle. And in America, the change of ownership in a serial-numbered vehicle is documented. So that means we can begin to trace from the original owner of the bus to who sold it and who sought it,” he said.

“I feel very confident everyone on those buses were FBI assets, and I have a high degree of belief that there were undercover FBI agents,” he added.

U.S. Congressman Asks Federal Reserve Whether Nations Are Repatriating Gold from New York

(Money Metals Exchange) As central banks across the globe continue to scoop up gold bullion for their reserves at record rates, Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va., is asking Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell some pressing questions about gold.

Gold currently trades at all-time highs in most currencies. Market insiders claim that Germany’s Bundesbank is again seeking to repatriate some of its gold vaulted with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

The Fed recently refused to respond to inquiries from the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee about whether any foreign gold had been repatriated this year.

In 2013, the Bundesbank asked the New York Fed to return 300 tonnes of its gold, but the bank inexplicably took more than three years to fulfill the request.

This incident raised doubts about the status and security of foreign gold vaulted with the New York Fed since Germany’s gold had been assumed to be held unencumbered and in a segregated area within the Fed’s vault.

This week, Mooney wrote to Federal Reserve Board Chairman Jerome Powell as follows:

I remain interested in the Federal Reserve’s activities with respect to the gold market. The gold price – now hitting all-time highs – is in some ways a report card on your management of the current system of unbacked Federal Reserve notes and bank credit.

I am increasingly concerned that actions by the Fed, the U.S. Treasury, and deficit spenders in Congress have undermined the world’s confidence in our currency, making our nation more financially vulnerable – to say nothing of the impact of inflation on our own citizens.

Please respond in writing to the following questions no later than January 15, 2024:

  1. Has the Federal Reserve or the Federal Reserve Bank of New York repatriated any gold to foreign nations this year? If so, to which countries and how much?
  2. How much gold is the Federal Reserve vaulting for foreign nations now and how does this compare to the amount vaulted at the end of 2022?
  3. Does the New York Fed’s statement of November 9 asserting that the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury Department did not intervene in the foreign exchange markets during the July-September 2023 quarter cover the gold market as well?

(See:https://www.newyorkfed.org/newsevents/news/markets/2023/20231109)

Mooney’s question about Federal Reserve interventions in the gold market echoes concerns raised by some traders and policymakers that the Fed may be surreptitiously managing the gold price. The central bank has disclosed its interventions in many other markets, but it has not admitted to gold interventions.

“Americans deserve to know more details about the status and use of U.S. gold reserves and all other aspects of government gold activities, particularly as runaway debt and deficits combined with the weaponization of the SWIFT payments system threaten the world’s confidence in the Federal Reserve note,” said Stefan Gleason, president and CEO of Money Metals Exchange.

Rep. Mooney has long been a leader on sound money issues in Congress, having introduced reforms such as the Gold Reserves Transparency Act, the Monetary Metals Tax Neutrality Act, the Gold Standard Restoration Act, and the Digital Dollar Pilot Prevention Act.

Appeals Court Upholds Firing of FBI Agent Who Suppressed USA Gymnastics Sex Abuse Scandal

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) A federal appeals court has upheld the firing of former FBI agent Michael Langeman, who was found to have mishandled the investigation into sex abuse allegations against USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.

Langeman had sued the FBI in late 2021, after Deputy Director Paul Abbate fired him over his handling of the Nassar investigation.

According to an Inspector General report, Langeman and two other FBI agents first met with USA Gymnastics officials in 2015 after receiving complaints that Nassar had sexually abused multiple gymnasts.

Following that meeting, the agents allegedly conducted only limited follow-up, mishandled evidence and failed to open a formal investigation of the matter—allowing Nassar to continue working as a respected sports doctor in Michigan for more than a year until his eventual arrest in 2016.

After Michigan state prosecutors charged Nassar in 2016, observers began questioning why the federal government didn’t act sooner.

The Justice Department’s Inspector General launched an investigation, and found in 2021 that “Langeman mishandled evidence and failed to refer allegations through the proper channels, which delayed the investigation by over a year and led to the abuse of seventy or more athletes during the delay.”

Langeman was also found to have made false statements to the IG during his office’s investigation.

A few months after his August 2021 termination, Langeman sued the DOJ, alleging that he was deprived of his Fifth Amendment right to both a property interest in continued employment and a liberty interest in his reputation. He also argued that such stigma to his reputation hampered future employment.

A district court dismissed Langeman’s lawsuit, and an appeals court upheld that decision on Tuesday.

“Langeman may very well be excluded from working with the FBI again, but it does not necessarily follow that he would be unable to find employment with any other federal agency indefinitely; nor is any such exclusion or explicit prohibition present in his dismissal letter,” the appeals decision said.

“Finally, Langeman does not allege that he attempted to obtain employment elsewhere and was rejected because of Appellees’ alleged conduct. Therefore, Langeman fails to articulate allegations that sufficiently support a stigma claim.”

Meanwhile, the FBI faces a lawsuit from Nassar’s victims over its failure to act.

Nassar, for his part, is set to serve the rest of his life in prison. He was stabbed by a fellow inmate at a federal penitentiary in Florida in July.
