Huh? Tlaib Drafts Amendment to Block Israeli Aid Until Hamas Frees Hostages

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Two members of the radical left-wing “squad” in the House of Representatives have proposed a measure to halt U.S. funding for Israel until Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization, releases all hostages from the Gaza Strip.

Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Cori Bush, D-Mo., introduced an amendment on Friday to the much-awaited Israeli military funding bill, conditioning its release on several factors demanded by the radical left.

Among the conditions were a ceasefire agreement by Israel, the release of hostages by Hamas and the initiation of diplomatic processes to support Palestinian and Israeli “self-determination.”

The contentious measure—which would have bolstered Hamas, currently holding approximately 130 hostages in Gaza enduring violence, sexual abuse and ongoing threats—failed to progress beyond the House Rules Committee, Bush announced on Twitter.

“Unfortunately, the Rules Committee refused to consider this amendment,” Bush claimed, expressing disappointment at the unadopted amendment. “Congress is shamefully choosing a failed approach of fueling genocide rather than saving Palestinian & Israeli lives, releasing the hostages & others arbitrarily detained, & prioritizing peace in the region.”

Bush and Tlaib’s opposition to the funding comes as they accuse the U.S. of complicity in what they termed a genocide in the Gaza Strip.

“Palestinians deserve to live,” Tlaib said during a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol on Thursday.

“Palestinian children deserve to grow old. Their lives and futures have been stolen. Many of them clinging to each other as they’re bombed in their beds while sleeping, buried under the rubble,” she added

As Tlaib became visibly emotional recounting the stories of affected Palestinian children, Bush rushed to comfort her. Notably, she did not mention the Israeli children killed by Hamas on October 7 during this part of the speech.

“What has happened to our humanity?” Tlaib questioned, wiping away tears. “These atrocities being committed by the Israeli government are horrific.”

Meanwhile, the House is deliberating on foreign aid bills aimed at supporting allies facing conflicts in the Middle East (Israel), Eastern Europe (Ukraine) and East Asia (Taiwan).

Tlaib, a Palestinian American, has faced ongoing criticism for her vocal opposition to Israel, which many critics argue has veered into anti-Semitism.

The House previously passed a censure motion rebuking Tlaib for her use and defense of the anti-Semitic chant, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” widely recognized as advocating for the elimination of the Jewish state and its citizens.

Biden Says Kids Give Him Middle Fingers ‘All the Time’

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Earlier this week, Joe Biden told a group of supporters at a campaign event in Scranton, Penn., that he often sees 7- and 8-year-old children showing him their middle fingers while he is driving through neighborhoods or rural towns, in which people are not very fond of him being in the White House.

While speaking at a campaign event in his hometown on Apr. 16, 2024, Biden mentioned yard signs that “F Biden,” also adding that he often witnesses young children giving him the middle finger.

“I’ve never thought I’d see a time when I’m going through a — a neighborhood or a rural town that’s in the West and see big signs that have a [Donald] Trump sign in the middle that says ‘F Biden’ and having a little kid standing with his middle finger — seven years old, eight years old. Well, I promise, it happens all the time. It’s not who we are,” he said.

Biden made the remarks about children flipping him off after he rambled about why he decided to jump into the 2020 presidential race, saying that the Charlottesville, Va., car attack in August 2017 was the reason why he ran against Trump.

A young woman was killed in the attack by a man who drove his car through a large crowd of people who were protesting a white supremacist rally in the town.

As expected, Biden accused Trump of condoning white supremacists, even though he never did that.

“And my future opponent, my present opponent — they asked him what he thought of it. He said there were ‘very good people on both sides.’ And I’m going to say something that may sound outrageous to you, but I thought… he’s the antithesis of everything I believe, and I thought I could beat him. And that’s why I ran,” Biden said.

N.Y. Dem. Arrested, Charged After Faking Election Signatures

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) New York’s Peekskill Common Council member and Housing Authority Board member 44-year-old Rob Scott has been charged with forging signatures on his election petition to secure a spot on the ballot for the Westchester County Board of Legislators.

Scott failed at his attempt to challenge incumbent County Legislator Colin Smith for the Democratic nomination in last year’s primary when the County Board of Elections invalidated a significant portion of his petition signatures, Peekskill Herald reported.

It was revealed that of the 531 signatures Scott submitted, 217 turned out to be fraudulent, leaving him well below the required threshold to qualify for the ballot, the news source added.

“This morning, the City of Peekskill learned Councilman Rob Scott was charged by the Westchester County District Attorney with filing false documents. The City understands that this is a serious charge, and that information is currently developing. The City will address and comment once more information becomes available,” the press release said.

Scott submitted petitions with forged signatures knowingly, including the signatures of those people who later confirmed they had never signed any document for Scott, according to the allegations.

All of that information was discovered after the DA’s office initiated an investigation after it received complaints from citizens about the forged signatures. As a result, it has escalated from a political embarrassment to a criminal case. Scott is currently facing felony charges for filing false documents.

County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that Scott had been arrested and charged with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, according to Iohud.  Penalties for this Class E felony could lead to four years in jail.

Scott’s arraignment is scheduled for Apr. 30, 2024, the news source added.

Scott said he was shocked to learn that people had emerged to state they had not signed the petitions, even though he claimed he saw them doing exactly that.

“This is like stuff you see on TV, you know? It’s like stuff you see in the movies,” he said.

California Sues Huntington Beach over New Voter ID Requirements

(Headline USA) California filed a lawsuit against the city of Huntington Beach this week over a new voter ID law that residents approved last month.

The new law, which passed with 53.4% of the vote from city residents in the March 5 election, requires voters to prove they are citizens and that they are 18 years or older by showing some form of government-issued identification. It also requires the city to monitor ballot drop boxes to crack down on potential voter fraud.

In a suit filed this week, California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Secretary of State Shirley Weber claimed the city’s new requirements are unnecessary and violate state election law.

“State election law already contains robust voter ID requirements with strong protections to prevent voter fraud, while ensuring that every eligible voter can cast their ballot without hardship,” Bonta claimed in a letter to city officials, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“By requiring additional documentation to establish a voter’s identity and eligibility to vote at the time of voting—a higher standard of proof than set out in the Elections Code—Huntington Beach’s proposal conflicts with state law.”

Bonta specifically expressed concern about the law’s drop-box monitoring provision, arguing such supervision could “[dissuade] another person from voting.”

Huntington Beach defended its requirements in a statement, arguing the state constitution gives cities authority over the “conduct of city elections” and “the manner in which, the method by which, the times at which, and the terms for which the several municipal officers and employees whose compensation is paid by the city shall be elected or appointed.”

Bonta’s lawsuit, however, argued that while the state gives cities authority over municipal affairs, “state law is supreme with respect to matters of ‘statewide concern.’”

Huntington Beach officials also hit back at Bonta’s claim that the city’s voter ID requirements are redundant, pointing out the state shouldn’t have a problem with them if they are an extension of the state’s own policies.

Burger King Workers Rescue Young Kids from Abusive Meth-Addict Illegal

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Workers at a Burger King in a Salt Lake City, Utah, suburb saved two young children from their meth-addict mother and her abusive, illegal-immigrant boyfriend, the Blaze reported.

The employees of the Taylorsville restaurant called police after a 4-year-old child, who was reportedly malnourished, begged them for help.

The family, which had made previous visits begging for free food, “appeared to be homeless and in need of assistance,” according to an arrest affidavit.

Upon their arrival on the scene, police found the boyfriend, 36-year-old Rodolfo Martinez–Avila, “sitting at the table, face down, with drool running out of his mouth.”

Nearby they found the 23-year-old Azucena Rodriguez, the mother of the 4-year-old and a 6-month-old baby.

According to the police report, Martinez–Avila “seemed confused by simple commands and statements” while making “continuous rapid movements and fidgets, and generally seemed unable to clearly articulate himself.”

Both adults admitted to having taken meth the day before. Rodriguez, according to the report, said she “regularly” uses the drug.

Police found signs of probable domestic abuse. The baby appeared to be malnourished, and the 4-year-old had sustained bruising to the chest and arms, as well as signs of a bloody nose.

The 4-year-old blamed Martinez–Avila for the violence.

His testimony was confirmed by his mother, who told police that she had seen Martinez–Avila abusing the boy, but could do nothing because he threatened her with violence.

“The four-year-old and six-month-old were taken into the back of an ambulance,” police said. “Officers documented numerous injuries on the four-year-old, including bruising on both arms, his torso, and his back, a scratch on his stomach, and the aforementioned bloody nose. The six-month-old appeared to be malnourished and had possible injuries.”

Rodriguez also admitted to being homeless, despite the fact that she “has other locations to live and stay but she declines to go there.”

Both mother and boyfriend were arrested, the mother on suspicion of child abuse, and her boyfriend for investigation of aggravated child abuse, intoxication, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The children were taken in by Child Protective Services.

Police said Martinez–Avila had been previously been deported from the U.S. but had returned illegally.

‘Squad’ Rep. Paying Hubby $5K/Month in Campaign Cash, Despite Probe

(Headline USA) “Squad” Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., continues to pay her husband tens of thousands of dollars from her campaign despite a Justice Department probe into her alleged misuse of campaign funds.

Federal Election Commission records released on Monday showed that Bush’s campaign made two $2,500 payments to her husband, Cortney Merritts, every month of this year. That brings the total Bush’s campaign has now paid Merritts since January 2022 to $135,000.

Bush’s campaign has defended the payments to Merritts for his “security services” as legitimate.

“As a rank-and-file member of Congress I am not entitled to personal protection by the House, and instead have used campaign funds as permissible to retain security services,” Bush said, in a statement earlier this year.

“In accordance with all applicable laws and House rules, I retained my husband as part of my security team to provide security services because he has extensive experience in this area, and is able to provide the necessary services at or below a fair market rate,” she added.

Notably, the payments to Merritts were listed as “wage expenses” by Bush’s campaign. She initially logged them as being security-related, but as at least two ethics complaints against her have pointed out, Merritts was not registered to provide professional security services in her congressional district.

When asked directly about his role with Bush’s campaign last year, Merritts appeared to be confused at the suggestion that he worked for her.

“I don’t have a role in the campaign,” Merritts told Fox News in October.

“You don’t have a role at all?” the reporter countered. “They were reporting you had wages on the campaign for security, and then it was a general wage. I was just wondering what you’ve been doing on the campaign?”

Merritts replied: “What’s this whole ‘gotcha’ s***? I’m not a politician, man, so ask me a question, man-to-man, and I’ll answer.”

In January, Bush confirmed she was under investigation by the Justice Department for her campaign’s spending on security services.

Biden, Trump Left Off Time’s ‘Most Influential’ List, While E. Jean Carroll, Jack Smith Honored

(Headline USA) President Joe Biden failed to make Time magazine’s list of the 100 “most influential people” this year—the first time he’s been left off it since 2020.

The list, published on Wednesday, included political leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, athletes and activists. Two of the top political figures named were Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Although it tilted heavily leftward in its cultural selections, the list also included conservative-minded world leaders Javier Milei of Argentina and Giorgia Meloni of Italy, as well as a key Trump ally, Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York.

Former President Donald Trump himself was absent, however—although he, like Biden, normally appears on it.

Vice President Kamala Harris likewise did not make the cut, but she did contribute an article on Yulia Navalnaya, the wife of deceased Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. (Other article contributors included former Democrat first ladies Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama.)

Time’s features on Abbott and Newsom highlighted both politicians as future leaders of their respective parties.

Time senior correspondent Philip Elliott described Abbott as a “talented room reader” who, “[d]espite some glaring missteps … remains one of his party’s most persuasive pitchmen.”

And Time senior White House correspondent Brian Bennett admitted in his feature of Newsom that the Democrat is seen as potential replacement for Biden in the 2024 election.

“Amid pressure for Democrats to trade in Joe Biden, Newsom has instead adopted the role of full-throated attack dog for the 81-year-old President,” he wrote. “That’s helped put Newsom, 56, on a short list of Democratic contenders for the White House in 2028.”

Notably, two of the other names mentioned in Time’s list were serial rape accuser E. Jean Carroll and corrupt special counsel Jack Smith, both of whom have brought legal cases against Trump recently.

Predictably, Time’s descriptions of both Smith and Carroll were glowing.

“As a man who built his career prosecuting powerful public officials accused of major crimes, he is better equipped for this than most,” former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal wrote of Smith for the magazine. “Time and again, he has met the challenges with an aggressive and decisive approach befitting his position.”

Smith’s only other high-profile case, an attempt to take down Republican Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, was later reversed by a unanimous U.S. Supreme Court, who rebuked the prosecutor for his overreach.

Carroll’s profile was written by Tarana Burke, an activist and the founder of the #MeToo movement. Burke described the former magazine columnist and Manhattan socialite as embodying “what #MeToo was actually about: not a woman taking down a powerful man, but a woman freeing herself.”

Carroll, who was revealed to have been bankrolled by leftist billionaire Reid Hoffman, has a long history of making rape allegations, with at least six other men—including former CBS executive Les Moonves—fallen victim to her predatory finger-pointing, in addition to Trump.

‘Squad’ Reps. Rush to Ilhan Omar’s Defense Following Her Daughter’s Arrest

(Headline USA) Fellow “Squad” members rushed to the defense of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., after her daughter was arrested this week for taking part in a disruptive anti-Israel protest at Columbia University.

Irsa Hirsi attends Barnard College—one of four Columbia undergraduate schools— and is listed as an organizer of the Apartheid Divest student group.

She was taken into custody by the New York Police Department and issued summons on trespassing charges, along with 100 other students. She later revealed she had been suspended from Barnard for “standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide.”

“Squad” Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., defended Hirsi and blasted Columbia University for its efforts to hold her accountable.

He also suggested Hirsi was only punished because of her relation to Omar, who was part of a House Education and the Workforce Committee panel that had grilled Columbia President Nemat Shafik earlier this week.

“The day after @IlhanMN questioned Columbia leadership’s commitment to free academic expression, the school suspended her daughter?” Bowman tweeted. “It’s clear what is happening here. Our educational institutions should not be in the business of political reprisals.”

During the hearing, Shafit opted to take a different approach than that of the Harvard and University of Pennsylvania presidents, who resigned last year after their testimony before the same committee was deemed anti-Semitic.

“Anti-Semitism has no place on our campus, and I am personally committed to doing everything I can to confront it directly,” Shafik said in her opening comments

Omar, who faced a censure by the House last year for her anti-Semitism, took the side of pro-Hamas student rioters.

“This is not an honest conversation that we are having today in this committee,” she said.

Other “Squad” members also rushed to Omar’s defense over her daughter’s suspension.

“What is going on here @BarnardCollege @Columbia?” tweeted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez, D-N.Y. “How does a student with no disciplinary record suddenly get to a suspension less than 24 hours after a nonviolent protest?”

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., who recently refused to condemn “Death to America” chants, called the arrest “appalling” and claimed Hirsi and other anti-Israel activists were “being retaliated against for using their constitutional rights to protest genocide.”

Omar, however, has not publicly weighed in on her daughter’s arrest yet.

After being released by the NYPD, Hirsi vowed to continue protesting.

“Those of us in Gaza Solidarity Encampment will not be intimidated,” she tweeted.

“We will stand resolute until our demands are met,” she continued. “[O]ur demands include divestment from companies complicit in genocide, transparency of @Columbia’s investments and FULL amnesty for all students facing repression.”

Mentally Ill Trans Teen Charged w/ Alleged School Shooting Plot

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) An 18-year-old biological female, who identified as a male, was arrested Wednesday for an alleged plot to commit a mass shooting at a Montgomery County school.

The Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland announced the arrest of Andrea Ye, whose preferred name is Alex Ye, on Thursday.

A full set of charging documents about the incident don’t appear to be online, but the available records suggest that Ye had been in touch with at least one federal informant. According to the announcement, MCPD launched an investigation after the FBI notified the department about a 129-page “manifesto” authored by Ye.

The FBI, in turn, apparently knew about the manifesto because of the informant. According to NBC, authorities learned about Ye’s manifesto after being contacted by an informant named in court records only as “Witness-One.”

The informant reportedly spent time in a psychiatric facility with Ye, who “started receiving mental health treatment in December of 2022 after making a series of alleged threats,” a local ABC affiliate reported.

“In the document, Ye writes about committing a school shooting, and strategizes how to carry out the act. Ye also contemplates targeting an elementary school and says that he wants to be famous,” MCPD’s announcement said.

More details about Ye are in in charging documents, which don’t appear to be available online. A local reporter posted excerpts, but not the entire charging document, for Ye.

According to an excerpt of the charging document, Ye considered shooting up an elementary school “because little kids make easier targets.”

“And, I run the risk of getting attacked or tackled midway through with high schoolers. I also hated elementary school. The teachers were evil and the other students were little assholes. I always got in trouble and had to sit out during recess. The other kids would pretend to be my friends but make fun of me to my face. It would be the perfect revenge,” Ye allegedly wrote.

“Truthfully, I would rather become a serial killer than a mass shooter. Serial killers are romanticized a lot more. They get tons of love letters and Netflix documentaries about them. Mass shooters are brushed off unless they are truly unique or good-looking,” Ye allegedly added.

Ye reportedly told officials that the story was fictional, but police deemed his writings to be too realistic.

A search of Ye’s electronic devices found that he allegedly was on Discord discussing the Columbine shooting, the Parkland shooting and other violent events.

Ye was charged with threat of mass violence, which is listed as a misdemeanor on the court docket.

Montgomery authorities held a press conference about the matter Friday, where Ye’s trans identity was a subject of contention.

Report: Soros DA Dropped Case over China’s Election Meddling Due to Trump Approval

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) George Soros-backed Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon dismissed criminal charges against Eugene Yu, the CEO of Michigan-based election software company Konnech, the Federalist reported.

Yu and Konnech were initially under investigation for the company’s failure to securely maintain election data—including the personal details supplied by some 2 million poll workers in the 2020 election.

Konnech, which is headquartered in East Lansing—Michigan’s capital city—“allegedly violated its contract by storing critical information that the workers provided on servers in China” according to Gascon.

The original criminal charges had led to Yu’s arrest in Meridian Township, Michigan, and his extradition to Los Angeles at the request of Gascon, because Los Angeles County had used PollChief, Konnech’s poll worker management software.

The criminal complaint stated that during a government search of Konnech’s headquarters, officials had discovered that employees had “sent personal identifying information of Los Angeles County election workers to third-party software developers who assisted with the creating and fixing [of] Konnech’s internal ‘PollChief’ software.”

The company had also given all employees of Chinese contractors working on PollChief “superadministrative privileges,” it noted.

“We intend to hold all those responsible for this breach accountable,” Gascon said after filing the charges in October 2022.

But, in a bizarre maneuver, Gascon dropped the charges against Yu shortly thereafter and ordered lead prosecutor Eric Neff to dismiss the case.

Neff subsequently spoke out, saying he considered the maneuver to be “a politically based dismissal not in furtherance of justice.”

He added that “a prosecutor cannot use political gains as a basis for dismissing a prosecution of a criminal matter.”

Neff was put on leave two days later, on Nov. 16, 2022, pending an “internal investigation.”

It was not until March 20, 2024, however, that he was reinstated after being informed that the investigation of him had been completed and no disciplinary action would be taken.

Nonetheless, Neff said in retaliation he was transferred from his position prosecuting political corruption to the “much less desireable assignment of Welfare Fraud Unit.”

On Wednesday, Neff published an internal complaint against the DA—a complaint that could eventuate in a lawsuit.

The bombshell complaint sheds light on the behind-the-scenes political wranglings in the deeply suspicious case, which some suspect may be tied to Chinese election meddling.

Neff argued that investigators had “recovered several explosive pieces of evidence in the form of electronic communications as well as one cooperating witness—an employee with knowledge of the company’s facially inadequate practices and procedures,” and still the charges were dropped.

Ultimately, some have suggested, Gascon dropped the charges when he realized that he had inadvertently gained the approval of former President Donald Trump, who wrote “Go, George, Go!” in support of him on Oct. 6, 2022, two days after Yu’s arrest.

“From this point onward, despite the evidence of the criminal case against Mr. Yu, DA Gascon and President Trump are connected which is devastating to DA Gascon’s political career,” Neff said in his complaint.

In a bit of serendipitous timing, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling Wednesday that lowered the bar for claimants to sue for discriminatory job transfers—although it is unclear whether Neff’s allegations of a politically motivated persecution would meet the legal standard.
