Trump Raises Concerns About His Top VP Picks

(Headline USA) Former President Donald Trump reportedly raised some concerns about his top vice presidential contenders over the weekend.

Trump’s VP short-list includes Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla. Each of these Republicans traveled to Mar-a-Lago over the weekend to meet with Trump.

And while the former president had good things to say about each of them, he also lodged several complaints, according to the Washington Post.

On Vance, Trump reportedly pointed out that the freshman Ohio senator had been a longtime critic of Trump before changing his tune in recent years. Vance “turned out to be incredible,” Trump explained, but “he wasn’t a supporter of mine. It shows you I can change him. He was saying things like, ‘This guy’s a total disaster.’”

On Scott, the Post reported that Trump praised the South Carolina senator as an “unbelievable” campaign surrogate. However, as a presidential candidate, “people thought [Scott] was a little bit dull,” Trump said.

On Donalds and Rubio, Trump said he likes both men but is worried about the “minor Florida problem,” referring to the fact that the 12th Amendment requires that the presidential and vice presidential candidates must be from a different state than the electors. This means that if Trump picks a Florida running mate, he would have to sacrifice the state’s 30 electoral votes.

However, Trump could avoid this problem by forcing his running mate to change his residency, or by changing his residency himself.

On Stefanik, Trump had only positive things to say, calling her “a very smart person.”

Stefanik “was in upstate New York when I met her,” he added. “Little did we realize she would be such a big factor.”

Other potential candidates who received favorable mentions from Trump over the weekend included South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, despite the controversy surrounding several anecdotes included in her upcoming memoir, including one about killing her own puppy.

“She’s been with me, a supporter of mine and I’ve been a supporter of hers for a long time,” Trump said of Noem.

House Intel Dem. Defends Plan to Accept Gazan Refugees

(Headline USA) The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee defended the Biden administration’s decision to consider admitting Palestinian refugees into the U.S., claiming this weekend that they will be “thoroughly vetted.”

Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., was asked on Sunday about his Republican colleagues’ pushback to the administration’s plan, specifically their concerns that the U.S. would be importing a population known for its hostility toward the West.

“What I can tell you is that this is not a thing,” Himes told Fox News. “The only way that people can apply for refugee status is if they … begin a very lengthy process of vetting.”

He went on to accuse his “over-caffeinated” Republican colleagues of “selling an awful lot of fear right now.” Himes added, “I would challenge you to come up with examples where refugees who have been vetted have come to this country and committed acts of terrorism.”

A report last week revealed that Biden officials are considering using the United States Refugee Admissions Program to grant refugee status to those fleeing the Gaza Strip into Egypt. Gazans with family members in the U.S. would also be eligible for refugee status, according to the report.

In response to the report, a group of Republican senators warned that the Biden administration would be opening up the U.S. to increased national security threats by allowing Gazans to flood into the country.

“A recent poll found that 71% of Gazans viewed Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel, including the rape of innocent women, their murder of children, and their murder of and capture of Americans as ‘the correct decision,'” Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, said last week. “And yet our president is considering an action to bring Gazan refugees to our homeland.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to speak on the Biden administration’s reported plans, but claimed the vetting process for those entering the country “is something that we take very, very seriously.”

Liberals Feign Surprise that Soros Is Funding Student Protests

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Democrats and the left-leaning mainstream media are apparently just now discovering that big donors such as Bill Gates and George Soros are supporting the pro-Palestine protests on college campuses.

Many of the organizations, such as Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, are responsible for the recent rash of protests on the nation’s college campuses, according to a recent report in Politico.

Those protesting groups received funding from the Tides Foundation, which received support from both the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Soros family, according to the Daily Caller.

Biden’s unintended alliance with Jewish charities unintentionally put him at odds with the pro-Palestine protesters.

The President neglected to make any direct comments about the schools tolerating the unrest on their campuses.

He did condemn “harassment and calls for violence against Jews.”

Journalists at Politico published an article illustrating the left’s apparent shock at the connection.

“The trail of donations shows a series of blurred lines when it comes to liberal causes and Democratic politics,” the article read. “Often those missions are aligned, but they also sometimes have different and—particularly when it comes to Gaza—conflicting agendas and tactics. And a small group of wealthy heavyweights are often playing an outsize role funding many of them.”

Readers were less than surprised at Politico’s report.

“Not very surprising honestly,” said Chad Gilmartin, former Special Assistant to President Donald Trump.

“It’s crazy pointing out these funders were behind things was a conspiracy theory just a few years ago,” user Rural Revelution said. “Now, Politico is reporting it.”

“2020 called they want their money laundering scheme back,” another user added.

Steve Bannon and Jack Posobiec said that the protests are unrelated to the conflict in Gaza.

The founder and chair of Democratic Jewish Outreach Pennsylvania, Jill Zipin, along with several other experts in associated fields, have insisted that the ongoing protests are not an issue for the Biden team as they seek reelection in November.

“Elections aren’t determined on foreign policy issues,” Zipin told Politico. “The protest movement and the encampments probably won’t be an issue in November, but it’s really hard to say because things can change quickly.”

The experts did admit that if the protests continued through the fall, they may affect Biden’s ability to keep the Oval Office.

BREAKING: Antifa-Like Group Claims Credit for Terrorist Attack in Portland

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) In the early hours of last Thursday, at least 15 Portland police patrol vehicles were torched in an act of arson.

“At 1:55 a.m., Portland Police North Precinct was dispatched to assist Portland Fire & Rescue at the Portland Police Training Division, located in the 14900 block of Northeast Airport Way,” Portland Police said in a press release Thursday.

“When they arrived they found at least 15 vehicles in a fenced training area were burning. Firefighters extinguished the fires. The building was undamaged, and no injuries were reported.”

Now, a group calling itself “Rachel Corrie’s Ghost Brigade”—named after a pro-Palestine activist—is claiming credit for the attack in what appears to be left-wing terrorism related to the anti-Israel protests.

The group released a message on the website of “Rose City Counter-Info,” which claims to serve as a platform for submissions of any communiques, reports, zines, analyses, announcements, calls to action, art and musings relevant to anarchists and radicals in “Portland” and the greater Portland area.

The message also appeared on “Abolition Media,” which bills itself as an “online news source for revolutionary movements.”

“On May Day we torched some PPB cars at their training facility. We cut through a fence, set ten fires and are happy it grew to burn fifteen cars!” the group said.

“We did it for the Haymarket Martyrs. We did it for all the Black and Indigenous rebels murdered by slavers and settlers. We did it for all the brutalized student protesters. Above all we did it for the Palestinian martyrs!”

The group added that it considers the attack to be “preemptive.”

“After seeing Humboldt, Columbia, UCLA and more we knew the occupation at PSU would be swept violently and wanted to attack PPB before,” the group said.

“While we respect the student occupations, particularly the ones occupying buildings and causing damages to the colleges, we hate to see them passive and waiting to be attacked. Catch the police off guard! They do not believe you are free! Show them you are! Raid them before they raid you!”

Not surpisingly, Rachel Corrie’s Ghost Brigade did not provide additional details of its group or membership. Little could be found about the group via a quick internet search.

The Portland Fire Investigations Unit is investigating the suspected arson fires.

CEO Walks Back Support for Campus Riots after Stock Plunges $210M

(Headline USA) The CEO of a hair-regrowth startup walked back his support for radical anti-Israel student protesters this week after his firm’s stock value plunged nearly $210 million in a single day.

Andrew Dudum, the head of hygiene company Hims & Hers, released a statement on Sunday to “clarify” his prior support for the student encampments that took over college campuses across the country earlier this month.

“The last few days have been a disheartening reflection of just how divisive a time we live in,” Dudum complained in a lengthy tweet thread, insisting that some of his earlier expressions of support for the violent and destructive anti-Semitic riots on campuses nationwide may have been “misconstrued” by his critics.

“I, in no way condone nor support acts or threats of violence, antisemitism, or intimidation and there is absolutely no justification for violence on our campuses,” he continued. “Every student deserves to feel safe without fear of harm or being targeted for who they are.”

The CEO went on to say that he was “deeply saddened” that his support for anti-Israel protests was “interpreted by some as encouraging violence, intimidation, or bigotry of any kind.”

Dudum had previously declared that his company would be happy to hire the student protesters—even those suspended or expelled from school over their role in the illegal encampments.

“If you’re currently protesting against the genocide of the Palestinian people & for your university’s divestment from Israel, keep going,” he tweeted last week. “It’s working. There are plenty of companies & CEOs eager to hire you, regardless of university discipline.”

Shortly after Dudum’s comment, Hims & Hers’s stock plummeted by 8%, from an opening price of $12.24 to $11.26 on Friday.

In total, the company’s market cap lost at least $200 million of value.

Dudum’s initial support for the anti-Israel protesters was markedly different from other CEOs who vowed not to hire the students involved.

“We’re gonna do an exchange program sponsored by Karp,” Alex Karp, CEO of the software company Palantir, said. “A couple months in North Korea, nice-tasting flavored bark. See how you feel about that.”

He went on to argue that more companies should consider refraining from making Ivy League hires altogether.

“There is literally no way to explain the investment in our elite schools, and the output is a pagan religion—a pagan religion of mediocrity, and discrimination, and intolerance, and violence,” he said.

U.S. Troops in Niger Are out of Vital Medications

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., revealed more shocking details Monday about the nightmarish situation U.S. troops are facing in Niger, where the country’s government seeks to expel the American military.

The situation in Niger stems from the country’s government declaring last month that the U.S. military presence there is “illegal.” Another African country, Chad, recently made a similar declaration. The Biden administration initially signaled that it will leave Niger—which would mean it would have to abandoned a $100 million drone warfare base—but has since backtracked.

Gaetz’s “interim report” on Monday confirms his prior statements in Congress last month, when he claimed that troops in Niger are experiencing shortages of water, medicine and other supplies.

Attached to the interim report are letters from active-duty servicemembers in Niger, as well as their family members.

One letter is from the spouse of an active-duty troop, who told Gaetz that her husband has run out of his cholesterol medication.

“My husband specifically is on cholesterol medication for his heart and at this point in time he has run out of medication,” she said. “I mailed him a medication refill … that is currently sitting in Germany because Niger still will not approve flights.”

Another letter, from someone stationed at Air Base 101 in Niger—where Russians are cohabitating with U.S. troops—said his unit is short on “blood and medications.” “Why are we still here?” the servicemember asked.

Yet another letter, this one from another U.S. troop at Air Base 101, made similar remarks.

“Why have no planes come in for our replacements? …We have not a resupply mission here since March. The morale here is terrible and it needs to be fixed ASAP!” the whistleblower said.

Gaetz called for the Biden administration to immediately resupply U.S. troops in Niger.

“Our service members, contractors, and their families must not be allowed to be used as leverage by the government of Niger or anyone else during a military retrograde. Moreover, the Biden administration should not spasm into a hasty retrograde which would leave hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. military material in the hands of terrorists, militants, or Russians,” he said.

“The Biden administration must fly in the needed water, medication supplies and troop rotations, under fighter escort if necessary.”

Spies No More Among Us: RNC Cans NeverTrump Lawyer w/ Ties to Marc Elias

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) The Republican National Committee “pushed out” its former chief counsel, NeverTrump lawyer Charlie Spies, as the party leadership moves slowly closer to its base under new co-chairs Lara Trump and Michael Whatley, NBC reported.

Despite declaring that elections “can’t be rigged” during a 2021 CPAC panel on election integrity, the Gateway Pundit reported that Spies was a close friend of notorious left-wing lawyer Marc Elias—the architect of the Steele Dossier, among many other nefarious political schemes—which undoubtedly gave him an intimate knowledge of the Left’s unrelenting efforts to rig elections.

According to RNC spokesperson Danielle Alvarez, Spies resigned due to time constraints.

“Charlie approached RNC Chief of Staff, Chris LaCivita, about potential time commitment conflicts and it was agreed that, while we appreciate and value Charlie’s expertise and professionalism, he cannot do this role full time and still maintain the obligations to his law firm that he has spent years successfully building,” Alvarez said.

Spies himself told CNN that he owed it to his law practice to resign from his post at the RNC.

“Working full time at the RNC wasn’t the right fit with my law firm client commitments, but I will remain focused on getting President Trump and Republicans at all levels elected in November,” he said.

Still, other insiders say that the center-left lawyer was pressured to go by a party that is dedicated more than ever to helping Trump win the 2024 election.

Triggered by the possibility that Republicans would want only Republican lawyers in the RNC, Alex Floyd, the Democratic National Committee rapid response director, expressed concerns that the Republican Party was becoming a party of election deniers.

Floyd called it “an election denier litmus test for new hires” and implied that Spies may have been “purged for disagreeing with Trump’s dangerous conspiracy theories” about America’s post-COVID elections.

Rep. Raskin Whines as Latest J6 Propaganda Doc Flops

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) A new liberal documentary about the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill uprising was released last week, but its producers and the people featured in the show are complaining that it has received little to no fanfare.

The documentary, titled The Sixth, was released by A24, the same studio that produced the controversial summer blockbuster Civil War. The show is reportedly available to rent on Apple, Amazon and a variety of other platforms.

However, those involved in the doc expected A24, Amazon and others to devote more marketing resources to The Sixth, according to a Friday article in Politico.

“The documentary about a real domestic clash was unmentioned on the list of A24 films on the company’s website right before its release. Though The Sixth is scheduled to go public on May 3, the film is also weirdly absent from A24’s ordinarily robust social media accounts,” Politico reported.

“People who were interviewed for the film were also told that it would be streaming on its release day as part of Amazon’s Prime Video service. But now that’s not happening either, and may not happen until after the election.”

Rep. Jamie Raksin, D-NY, who’s featured heavily in the documentary, lamented its lack of publicity. Raksin also suggested that a right-wing conspiracy was behind the alleged suppression.

“I was telling people they’d be able to access it on Prime Video. And then [A24] told us that although that was the original understanding, it was now not going to be available for streaming on Prime Video and people would have to pay for it. That obviously will change by millions the number of people who will see it,” Raskin told Politico.

“I think it would absolutely sweep the country if it were made available to the public easily. But former President Donald Trump and right-wing forces in the country are on a daily basis trying to rewrite the history of what happened,” he said.

To its credit, Politico said it’s unlikely that any right-wing forces suppressed the Hollywood documentary. Alexandra Pelosi, who made one of the previous Jan. 6 documentaries, made similar remarks.

“I made a Jan. 6th documentary that came out last December, and I was on The View!,” she told Politico. “I don’t think Hollywood is afraid of it.”

Independents Have Little Trust, but Pick Trump over Biden on Economy

(Newly released polling data spelled bad news for President Joe Biden this election year.

Gallup released new polling data which showed independent voters trust former President Donald Trump more than Biden when it comes to the economy.

Americans' confidence in the president to do the right thing for the U.S. economy

About 34% of independents said they trusted Biden to do the right thing for the economy, compared with 45% who trusted Trump.

Naturally, Republicans trusted Trump more, and Democrats trusted Biden more, but the important swing-vote independents? They chose Trump.

“Partisans have little to no confidence in the opposing party’s leaders,” Gallup said. “While political independents are not overly confident in any of the leaders, they have the most confidence in Trump.”

That poll comes after Gallup reported that Americans’ overall optimism about the economy has declined.

As the Center Square previously reported, economic confidence declined among Americans for the first time in seven months. Inflation remains elevated and has picked up speed in recent weeks, raising eyebrows among economists.

Meanwhile, the latest U.S. Gross Domestic Products figures show that in the first three months of the year, the U.S. economy underperformed expectations.

Despite reportedly strong hiring during the first quarter, much of it was limited to government and in sectors subisidized by the government—including health care. Other areas of growth included the low-wage jobs filled by illegal immigrants, such as restaurant and construction work.

However, in much of the production and retail industry where goods were created, jobs continued to decline, effectively leaving the vast majority of the economy in a recession despite the Biden administration’s having artificially bolstered parts of it through unfettered spending and immigration that will have a negative longterm impact.

Biden’s numbers are lower than many previous presidents in recent history, though Biden has bounced back somewhat since inflation had slowed from its breakneck pace earlier in his term.

Despite Trump’s better numbers among independents, on the whole Americans have little trust in anyone to do the right thing on the economy.

“Forty-six percent of U.S. adults say they have ‘a great deal’ or ‘a fair amount’ of confidence in Trump to do or recommend the right thing for the economy, while fewer say the same of Biden (38%), [Federal Reserve Chair Jerome] Powell (39%), and Democratic (38%) and Republican (36%) leaders in Congress,” Gallup said.

Chris Cuomo Says He’s Vaccine-Injured

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who was one of the country’s leading coronavirus propagandists in 2020, now says he’s been injured by the COVID-19 vaccine.

Cuomo, now a host for News Nation, revealed his alleged injury during a segment discussing a New York Times article about the COVID-19 vaccine. According to that article, more than 13,000 vaccine-injury compensation claims have been filed with the federal government as of April—to little avail.

“Only 19 percent have been reviewed. Only 47 of those were deemed eligible for compensation, and only 12 have been paid out, at an average of about $3,600,” the Times reported.

Reacting to that article, Cuomo interviewed Shaun Barcavage, a New York nurse who was also allegedly injured by the vaccine.

During the interview, Barcavage told Cuomo about how he felt tingling in his face after taking the first vaccine dose. Against his better judgement, he took a second dose—leading to a total health breakdown, he said.

“As a research nurse practitioner, I thought after if I was injured people would be there to help me. I got no answers, no one wanted to discuss it,” he said.

“I sent my blood work to Germany, where scientists were more interested in helping than the ones in my own country. The testing showed I developed autoantibodies … it looked like I had long COVID, even though I never had COVID.”

Barcavage said he believes his problems were ignored because the New York medical community didn’t want to make people afraid of taking the vaccine. But the ensuing censorship and propaganda has backfired, making the public even more hesitant of vaccines as a result, he said.

“They’re afraid by showing my face they’ll drive vaccine hesitancy. But the censorship of it is fueling vaccine hesitancy. If government admitted these were novel vaccines … the citizens would have appreciated that. Instead, they suppressed me,” he said.

Cuomo then told Barcavage about his own struggles.

“I’m sick myself, but I’m working with people who ware working on this. You may be ahead of me. I’ll hook you up with my clinicians,” he said. “But I will never stop reporting on this. I’m beating the drum on: You need a 9/11-style commission on what worked and what didn’t, because it’s not over.”

Cuomo’s claims, of course, should be taken with a grain of salt. The disgraced news anchor infamously claimed that he defeated COVID-19 in mid-2020 through willpower and breathing exercises.
