FBI FOIA Response Hints at Others Being Involved in Trump Assassination Plot

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The non-profit transparency group Judicial Watch said Monday that the FBI has denied its Freedom of Information Act request for records on the assassination attempt against Donald Trump on the grounds that it could impede an ongoing investigation.

Judicial Watch said it requested on July 26 all FBI records about its preparation and coordination with the Secret Service for former President Trump’s presidential campaign rally in Butler, PA, on July 13, 2024. The FBI denied that request last week, citing FOIA exemption 7(A), which applies to information that “could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings.”

Judicial Watch said the particular exemption used by the FBI suggests that the bureau is either engaging in a cover-up or is investigating others involved in the shooting plot.

“Were there others involved in the assassination attempt on Trump? If not, then why would the FBI use the excuse of protecting someone’s right to a fair trial to hide records on the FBI’s and Secret Service’s inexcusable failures to protect Trump from being nearly assassinated?” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said.

“The Biden-Harris administration is running a major league cover-up on the near assassination of former President Trump.”

The FBI’s denial of Judicial Watch’s FOIA request follows a similar denial from the Secret Service.

Judicial Watch said it has over 25 FOIA and open records requests currently pending on the shooting of Trump with the Biden administration, local and state officials, and agencies in Pennsylvania.

Judicial Watch, which said it’s preparing to litigate for the records, isn’t the only group being denied information about the July 13 Trump shooting. Local law enforcement has also said they haven’t met with Secret Service over the matter, even though Trump is planning another rally for the same area.

In addition, Congress has accused federal law enforcement of stonewalling their investigations.

Local law enforcement is also suppressing evidence. Officials in Butler County, for example, are refusing to release 911 recordings from the rally, according to The Intercept.

Media outlets have also reported difficulties in obtaining autopsy results for the alleged shooter, Thomas Crooks.

Conviction Overturned for Illegal Immigrant Who Killed Border Agent in ‘Fast & Furious’ Scandal

(Headline USA) An appeals court on Friday overturned the conviction and life sentence of a man found guilty of killing a U.S. Border Patrol agent whose death exposed the botched federal gun operation known as “Fast and Furious” has been overturned.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the convictions of Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes, saying his constitutional due process rights had been violated, and sent the case back to the U.S. District Court in Arizona for further proceedings.

Osorio-Arellanes was sentenced in 2020 in the Dec. 14, 2010, fatal shooting of Agent Brian Terry while he was on a mission in Arizona.

Osorio-Arellanes was convicted of first-degree murder and other charges after being extradited from Mexico. He was among seven defendants who were tried and convicted in Terry’s killing.

The appeals court said Osorio-Arellanes had confessed to “essential elements” of the U.S. government’s case against him while being interrogated in a Mexico City prison.

On appeal, he argued that he was entitled to a new trial because his confession was taken in violation of his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, as well as his Sixth Amendment right to effective assistance of counsel. He also argued that he did not have a fair trial, and his attorney said he is illiterate and didn’t understand the proceedings.

Ninth Circuit Justice Andrew D. Hurwitz dissented.

“The majority today overturns that conviction. It does not find Osorio’s confession involuntary nor any Miranda violation. Rather, the majority holds that the conviction cannot stand because Osorio received ineffective assistance from his chosen Mexican lawyer during the interrogation,” he said. “In doing so, the majority plows significant new doctrinal ground.”

The Obama administration was widely criticized for the “Fast and Furious” operation, in which U.S. federal agents allowed criminals to buy firearms under the guise of tracking them to criminal organizations. But the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives lost track of most of the guns, including two found at the scene of Terry’s death.

Terry, 40 and a former U.S. Marine, was part of a four-man team in an elite Border Patrol unit staking out the southern Arizona desert on a mission to find so-called “rip-off” crew members who rob drug smugglers. They encountered a group and identified themselves as police.

The men refused to stop, prompting an agent to fire bean bags at them. Members of the group responded by firing AK-47-type assault rifles. Terry was struck in the back and died soon after.

“Our holding does not decide Osorio’s ultimate responsibility for his actions. The Government can still retry this case,” the appeals court said in its new ruling. “Nevertheless, his direct appeal reaffirms the potency of our Constitution’s procedural protections for criminal defendants, which ‘are granted to the innocent and the guilty alike.’”

FBI Reportedly Thinks Trump Shooter Had ‘Undiagnosed Disorder’

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Trump shooter Thomas Crooks was reportedly a “strikingly intelligent man” who scored higher than 1500 on his SAT pre-college exam. But he also may have been struggling for years with an undiagnosed disorder, according to the FBI.

ABC News reported the FBI’s suspicions about Crooks’s mental health on Friday, citing unnamed sources who were briefed on the FBI’s interview with Donald Trump. The FBI reportedly interviewed Trump in his capacity as a victim of the July 13 shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, but the former president ended up asking more questions than he answered, ABC reported.

According to ABC, “Trump was told that, through interviews with Crooks’ family and others who knew him, investigators learned that throughout high school, Crooks would routinely sway back and forth while standing at the bus stop—but that Crooks never received any sort of formal diagnosis related to it.”

The FBI agents also reportedly told Trump that they were able to access three foreign email accounts used by Crooks because the shooter’s passwords were stored on his computer. However, the FBI still claims Crooks’s motives are a mystery, and they say they’ve found no indications that anyone else was involved in the attack, according to ABC.

“The information gleaned from the foreign email accounts largely related to weapons and ammunition purchases, offering little insight into what drove Crooks to launch his attack, Trump was told,” ABC reported.

CBS initially reported information about Crooks’s possible mental health disorders on July 18, citing sources from a private congressional briefing with federal law enforcement officials.

According to CBS, the FBI purportedly found more than 14,000 images on Crooks’ primary phone. Among those images was a screenshot of an online live feed of the July 13 rally, saved at 6:01 p.m.—just 10 minutes before he allegedly opened fire.

“He searched online in April about major depressive disorder. In the days after the rally was announced, he made searches related to Trump, President Biden, the former president’s whereabouts on July 13 and the Democratic National Convention,” CBS reported—indicating that Crooks may have been suffering from mental ailments.

Secret Service Broke into Local Salon w/o Permission During Kamala Harris Event

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) In another display of ineptitude and a lack of regard for the American people, the Secret Service is taking heat for breaking into a local business, taping over its cameras and doing God knows what else during a two-hour period ahead of a Kamala Harris fundraising event.

The event took place in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on July 27, about two weeks after Donald Trump was nearly assassinated under the Secret Service’s watch. The owner of the local business, Four One Three Salon, complained to Business Insider about the Secret Service breaking into her business without permission.

“They had a bunch of people in and out of here doing a couple of bomb sweeps again — totally understand what they have to do, due to the nature of the situation,” Salon owner Alicia Powers told Business Insider. “And at that point, my team felt like it was a little bit chaotic, and we just made the decision to close for Saturday.”

After Powers left for the day, her storefront cameras captured the Secret Service breaking into her business. But then, one Secret Service agent taped over the camera by the front door.

“Two people wearing emergency medical services uniforms and one person in a camouflage law enforcement uniform walked in. The fourth person, wearing a dark suit and white shirt like a Secret Service officer, stood by the door,” Business Insider reported.

“There were several people in and out for about an hour-and-a-half — just using my bathroom, the alarms going off, using my counter, with no permission,” Powers told the publication.

An EMS worker later told Powers the Secret Service agent in charge of security that day “was telling people to come in and use the bathroom,” she said.

When Powers returned to the property later that day, she found the door’s lock looked like it had been picked, according to Business Insider. Agents had reprotedly left the business unlocked after breaking into it.

Powers said Secret Service didn’t do much damage to her business, but she was nevertheless disturned by agents’ lack of regard for her private property, she said.

“Whoever was visiting, whether it was a celebrity or not, I probably would’ve opened the door and made them coffee and brought in donuts to make it a great afternoon for them,” she told BI. “But they didn’t even have the audacity to ask for permission. They just helped themselves.”

The Secret Service initially said it “would not” let its agents do such actions as described above, but the agency reportedly admitted to wrongdoing the day after Business Insider published about the matter last Wednesday. Powers reportedly said a Secret Service representative she spoke to offered to have the salon cleaned and pay her alarm company bill for the day.

JD Vance Comes Out Swinging Against ‘Chameleon’ Harris

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, did not hold back when responding to questions about Vice President Kamala Harris’s racial background, first raised by President Donald Trump.

On a Sunday interview with CNN’s State of the Union, Vance, Trump’s running mate, was asked if he believed Harris is “Black.” Vance quickly pushed back.

“I believe that Kamala Harris is whatever she says she is, but I believe importantly that President Trump is right, that she’s a chameleon. She pretends to be one thing in front of what audience she pretends to be something different in front of another audience,” Vance said.

Vance expanded on his point, saying that Harris’s presidential campaign feels more like a scripted performance than a genuine political endeavor.

“She is running a movie. She only speaks to voters behind a teleprompter. Everything is scripted,” Vance added. “She doesn’t have her policy positions out there. She hasn’t answered why she wanted to ban fracking, but now she doesn’t. She wanted to defund police.”

Vance also criticized Harris for avoiding unscripted interactions with the press.

“She should have to answer for why she presents a different set of policies to one audience and a different set of policies he’s to another audience. And I think that’s what president trump is getting at,” he continued. “This is a fundamentally fake person. She’s different depending on who she’s in front of.

Vance’s comments came after Trump was questioned about Harris being a “DEI” vice president, implying she was selected primarily for diversity reasons.

Trump responded by stating that Harris’s racial background is irrelevant to the race but pointed out that she has, at times, highlighted her Indian heritage more than her Jamaican roots.

Trump’s remarks quickly drew criticism from leftist media, despite some of their own pundits having previously questioned Harris’s biracial heritage.

Biden Targets Pelosi in Explosive Interview on His 2024 Exit

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA)  In a candid interview with CBS Sunday Morning, President Joe Biden blamed Democrats in Congress, particularly former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, for his abrupt exit from the 2024 presidential race.

Biden explicitly stated that the pressure campaign, not the polls, was the primary reason for his decision to step down, singling out Pelosi for leading the backlash.

“The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race,” Biden told host Robert Acosta. “But what happened was, a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races. I was concerned that if I stayed on the race that would be the topic.”

He added, “Why did Nancy Pelosi say, why did so — and I thought it would be a real distraction, number one.”

Biden went on to describe himself as a “transition president,” suggesting that he had always intended to pave the way for a new generation of Democratic leaders.

He also admitted that discussing his age was difficult. “I can’t even say how old I am. It’s hard for me to get out of my mouth, but things got moving so quickly,” he added.

Biden’s remarks come as Pelosi continues her media tour to promote her book, The Art of Power, where she highlights her decades-long influence over the Democratic Party.

In several interviews, Pelosi has pushed back against rumors that she led the effort to force Biden out of the 2024 race. Instead, she has expressed her admiration for Biden, even suggesting that he deserves a place on Mount Rushmore.

Meena Harris: Kamala’s Niece Cashing In on Political Ties, Echoing Hunter

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) As Vice President Kamala Harris ascends to the Democratic presidential ticket, her niece, Meena Harris, is poised to profit significantly, much like how the Biden siblings have benefited from President Joe Biden’s prominence.

A Politico report titled “‘Ambitious girl’: How Kamala Harris’ niece turned political proximity into a budding business empire” suggests that Meena Harris has leveraged her family connection for financial gain.

While the report is generally positive, it highlights how Meena has financially benefited from her ties to Harris, who is currently the Democratic presidential candidate and potentially the next U.S. president.

Meena authored a best-selling children’s book, Kamala and Maya’s Big Idea, released in June 2020, just months before Biden selected Harris as his running mate. She has also sold merchandise featuring Harris’s image.

“Now, her aunt’s sudden elevation to the top of the Democratic ticket offers a once-in-a-lifetime branding opportunity,” Politico reported.

“It also promises to bring renewed scrutiny to a 39-year-old entrepreneur whose outspoken social media presence and efforts to profit from her association with her aunt have caused criticism from Washington to Delhi,” the report added.

Meena is the daughter of Maya Harris, the Vice President’s sister, and the stepdaughter of Tony West, a former federal prosecutor who led the vetting of Harris’s running mate.

Harris’s spokesperson, Ernie Apreza, dismissed concerns about Meena’s business ventures during her aunt’s presidential campaign. “The Vice President’s family members have independent, professional careers,” Apreza claimed.

“There is no involvement between the Vice President and any of the professional endeavors her family members pursue, nor do any of the Vice President’s family members use her name in connection with any commercial activities that could reasonably be understood to imply an endorsement or support,” he added.

Despite these claims, Politico reported that Meena played a role in helping Harris establish her social media presence early in her career. She also advised Harris on other issues.

This mirrors the activities of the Biden siblings—James, Francis, and Valerie—all of whom have engaged in business dealings closely tied to the President.

Gov. Shapiro Reflects on VP Vetting: A ‘Deeply Personal’ Choice to Make

(Christen Smith, The Center Square) Gov. Josh Shapiro said Thursday he too faced a big choice during the running mate vetting process for Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I love being governor of Pennsylvania,” he said. “I believe every Pennsylvanian should have the freedom to chart their own course and the opportunity to succeed and, in the end, it was important to me to be able to chart my own course.”

When pressed, Shapiro declined to elaborate on what he meant exactly, saying he’d keep his personal conversations with Harris private.

The comments came as the first-term governor reflected upon the consideration during a news conference in Greene County, noting that he thought Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz – described as a “personal friend” – was a “great pick.”

Shapiro also responded to rumors that a sexual harassment scandal within his administration and controversial policy stances on the war in Gaza and educational scholarships sank his chances.

“As I said many times, Kamala Harris had a deeply personal decision to make and so did I,” he said. “And I think any spin that those outsiders want to put on it for their own benefit is absolutely false.”

During a campaign rally for Harris and Walz in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Shapiro expressed his optimism for America’s future and bashed former President Donald Trump, whose cross-electorate appeal in Pennsylvania makes it a tough battleground and key piece of Democratic victory in November.

“Not only are we not going back, we are not going into the future with him,” Shapiro said of Trump.

Kamala Plagiarizes Trump’s ‘No Tax on Tips,’ Reversing Her Own Policy

(Elias Irizarry, Headline USA) Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz held a rally in Las Vegas on Saturday marking their first appearance in the state of Nevada, additionally announcing their first policy initiative.

Harris declared that, if elected, she would “eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.”

However, the concept was blasted as being plagiarized from a previous announcement made by former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Trump originally rolled out the policy pitch in June, also at a Las Vegas rally, earning the immediate endorsement of the Culinary Union.

“When I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips,” the former President announced two months before Harris.

The Internal Revenue Service’s initiative to crack down on underreported tips by service workers was first introduced under the Biden-Harris administration in November 2023 as a part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Harris cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate that implemented the policy in the first place, and later bragged about her vote to do so on her official X page in March, pushing many to note the irony involved with her push to roll back her administration’s own policy.

“Despite the Harris administration rolling out a new enforcement program just last year to collect more taxes on tips, Kamala Harris’s first policy proposal is a full plagiarizing of President Trump’s proposal to eliminate tip taxes for service industry workers,” read a press release from the Trump campaign on Saturday.

Conservative influencers on X were quick to note that the Harris campaign has failed to publish a policy agenda even three weeks after the Democratic Party’s coup of President Joe Biden.

“Her website has at least TEN donate buttons, but not a SINGLE POLICY,” wrote Nick Sorter, a conservative commentator on the social media platform.

Black Police Officer Nearly Killed By BLM Rioters on 10th Anniversary of Ferguson Riots

(Headline USA) An African American Ferguson, Missouri, police officer was critically injured by Black Lives Matter rioters outside the city’s police station during an event memorializing the 10th anniversary of the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, police said Saturday.

Ferguson police chief Troy Doyle said Officer Travis Brown suffered a severe brain injury Friday after being knocked to the ground.

“He is in an area hospital right now fighting for his life,” Doyle said.

Two other officers also were hurt, one sustaining an ankle injury and another an abrasion. Both were treated at the scene.

The team of officers went out to make arrests Friday for the destruction of property at the police station where rioting ensued in commemoration of Michael Brown, an African American 18-year-old who was killed by Darren Wilson, a police officer in 2014.

One of the suspects was charged Saturday with assault of a special victim, resisting arrest and property damage. He was ordered held on $500,000 cash only bond. No information was immediately listed in online court records, so it wasn’t known if he had an attorney yet.

Doyle said that the protesters were initially peaceful. He said police even allowed them to block the street outside the station, posting a squad car on each end, so they wouldn’t be hit by vehicles, and respected the right of the protesters to assemble.

Police didn’t even intervene when the protesters began shaking the fence outside the station. But he said that when they broke a section of fencing, he sent out the arrest team.

The suspect who charged at Travis Brown knocked him backward with his shoulder, and the officer hit his head as he tumbled to the ground, Doyle said.

Court records said the suspect then kept running and kicked two officers who tried to arrest him, leaving them with scratches and bruises.

Doyle said Travis Brown, who is African American, started with the department in January and previously worked for the St. Louis County Police Department.

He is part of a wave of black officers hired into the department since 2014. Back then, there were just three black officers in the department, but black officers now make up more than half of the police force, Doyle said.

“He wanted to be part of the change,” Doyle said. “He wanted to make an impact in our community. He’s the type of officer that we want in our community. And what happens? He gets assaulted. I had to look his mother in the eye and tell her what happened to her son. I’m never going to do that again, I promise you that.”

St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell, who had stopped by the hospital beforehand to meet with the officer’s family, said others also would be charged.

“I always talk about you know the toughest part of this job is when we have a family that’s lost a loved one that we can’t bring justice to. And I’ve got to tweak that. The toughest thing I’ve had to do is talk and console with a mother who doesn’t know if her child is doing to make it. And for what?”

The Rev. Darryl Gray, a leading civil rights activist, urged the police chief to move with caution and “not to create an us versus them mentality.”

“Right now,” Gray added, “all of our efforts and energy need to be positive towards the recovery of the police officer. And then second to that, to do an investigation, a fair and unbiased investigation to determine what the evidence is.”

The arrests came as the St. Louis Fire Department placed a member of the department on leave after he made a social media post that the department described as insensitive.

“We take this matter seriously and do not condone such behavior,” the department wrote.

The department didn’t disclose the contents of the post, but several news outlets in the area reported that it read: “Happy ALIVE day to Darren Wilson!”

Michael Brown’s death turned Ferguson into a focal point of the national reckoning with the historically tense relationship between U.S. law enforcement and Black people.

For weeks, activists with the Black Lives Matter movement burned and looted the city, seemingly to show solidarity with the African American community. Rioters even attacked firefighters who attempted to extinguish the fires.

In 2015, an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice also found no grounds to prosecute Wilson. But the report gave a scathing indictment of the police department — raising significant concerns about how officers treated Black people and about a court system that created a cycle of debt for many.
