‘We Do Not Support Her:’ California Sheriff Pushes Back on Harris Border Claims

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) A California sheriff who has long been battling cartel and transnational crime in his county is pushing back against the Kamala Harris campaign after it used his image in a newly released political ad.

Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and other law enforcement officials were depicted in a new Harris campaign ad that included video from a decade-old event when she was the California attorney general.

When learning of their images being used in the video, he said, “We do not support Kamala Harris. She has a history of not supporting law enforcement.”

The new television ad, paid for by Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, states, “Kamala Harris has spent decades fighting violent crimes. As a border state prosecutor, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling weapons and drugs across the border.”

As vice president, the ad says “she backed the toughest border control bill in decades,” referring to a U.S. Senate bill that went nowhere under Democratic control. Senate Democrats refused to consider what Republicans argue is the strongest border bill in decades, which the House passed.

“And as president, she will hire thousands more border agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking. Fixing the border is tough, so is Kamala Harris,” the ad says.

Early in his term, President Joe Biden name Harris his “border czar,” but both have faced widespread criticism for the millions of foreign national who have illegally crossed the border since 2021.

Boudreaux, who has served for more than 37 years in the sheriff’s office and is president of the California State Sheriff’s Association, has openly criticized the policies of Harris and Gov. Gavin Newsom.

After a mother and her 10-month-old baby were among six killed in an “execution-style,” “cartel-style” murder spree last year, Boudreaux said gang and cartel violence was a result of California’s “soft-on-crime approach,” The Center Square reported.

Boudreaux, who recently ran for Congress and lost in a special election, ran a campaign ad featuring former President Donald Trump supporting law enforcement. He also blasted Harris on campaign social media platforms. In one statement, he said he wanted “to make it abundantly clear that his image is being used without his permission, and he does NOT endorse Harris for President or any other political office.”

He told Fox News that Harris’ ad was “deceiving to say the least” because after law enforcement officers worked for years investigating a multinational drug trafficking organization operation with ties to Mexican cartels and prison gangs, Harris “showed up for a sound bite. She didn’t shake anyone’s hands and she quickly left the briefing room.”

Number of Butler Deputies Guarding Trump Nearly Halved from 2020 to 2024

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) It looks like the Secret Service wasn’t the only agency to decrease the resources it provided to Donald Trump for his 2024 election campaign.

According to local newspaper Butler Eagle, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office nearly halved the number of deputies it sent to protect Trump on July 13 compared to his October 2020 rally in the same area.

The Butler Eagle reported Thursday that 13 deputies were at a Trump rally held in October 2020, while seven were at the July event, where Trump was nearly assassinated.

County officials are reportedly blaming budget constraints for the decrease.

Sheriff Mike Slupe said Wednseday that his deputies worked the July 13 Trump rally for comp time, accruing an hour-and-a-half of time off for every hour they worked.

Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche, a Republican, also blamed her Democratic colleague for insisting that the Sheriff’s Office work with the Secret Service under a formal contract, according to the Butler Eagle.

“It seems that there was an effort to avoid overtime to reduce the number of people that might have been available,” Osche reportedly said. “I don’t have any proof of that. It appeared that we were under-resourced.”

The Democrat county commissioner, Kevin Boozel, defended his push for a contract on the grounds that it would have protected the county from lawsuits, according to the Butler Eagle.

“One of the things a contract does is protect us if we have to go to court,” Boozel said, adding that he would have pushed for a contact regardless of political affiliation.

“It’s unique in that the sheriff was asked by Secret Service. Even if we just discussed it, even if it were a memorandum of understanding, it should have been part of our plan.”

However, Osche has pushed back against Boozel’s argument. She reportedly said that his office might contract with private entities for security; but federal agencies such as the Secret Service are a different matter.

“The contracts were not meant for this type of event. We were very clear with him that you are the sheriff, if you are contacted by some level of law enforcement for mutual aid, that is your prerogative,” Osche reportedly said.

“The sheriff was within his purview as a separately elected official to respond to public safety requests as deemed necessary as long as he worked within the confines of the budget we approve for him.”

The county is still processing public requests for records about the deadly July 13 rally, according to the Butler Eagle.

MAHARREY: What’s So Great About 2% Inflation?

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) Don’t be fooled when you hear “inflation is coming down.” That’s not the plan and it never was.

The fact is price inflation was up in July.

And it will be up in August.

And it will be up in September.

That’s because rising price inflation is the Federal Reserve’s stated policy.

Remember, the target is 2 percent annual price inflation. That means the plan is for prices to generally rise by 0.16 percent every month.

And they’re not even there yet.

Breaking Down the July CPI

Prices rose 0.2 percent in July, having contracted by 0.1 percent in June, according to the latest data from the BLS. That dropped the annual CPI under 3 percent (2.9%) for the first time since March 2021.

Stripping out more volatile food and energy prices, core CPI increased by 0.2 percent dropping the annual core CPI to 3.2 percent.

You will note that none of these numbers actually is 2 percent.

You should also note that price inflation is worse than the government data suggest. The government revised the CPI formula in the 1990s so that it understates the actual rise in prices. Based on the formula used in the 1970s, CPI is closer to double the official numbers. So, if the BLS was using the old formula, we’re looking at CPI closer to 6 percent. And using an honest formula, it would probably be worse than that.

Digging deeper into the numbers, shelter costs continue to drive the total CPI higher. The shelter index was up 0.4 percent month-on-month.  The energy index was unchanged over the month, after declining in the two

preceding months. The index for food increased 0.2 percent in July, as it did in June. The food away from home index rose 0.2 percent over the month, and the food at home index increased 0.1 percent.

We’re seeing deflation in new and used vehicles as tapped-out consumers slow spending on big-ticket items.

Further CPI cooling increased optimism for a September interest rate cut. The mainstream consensus seems to be that the Fed is now locked and loaded. As one analyst told CNBC, “Today’s CPI print removes any lingering inflation obstacles that may have been preventing the Fed from starting the rate-cutting cycle in September.”

In other words, the Fed has reined in price inflation enough to plausibly resume its inflationary policies.

And make no mistake, inflation is the policy.

What’s Magical About 2 Percent?

Have you ever wondered why 2 percent is the price inflation target?

Because they made it up.

That’s the honest answer.

They pulled 2 percent out of thin air and anointed it the “perfect” amount of price inflation.

That’s it. There’s no science. There’s no formula proving that 2 percent is the Goldilocks of inflation rates. There’s no proof of any kind. People just said “2 percent” long enough and loud enough to make it “true.”

But think about what this actually means. The stated policy is to devalue the currency by 2 percent every year. That means you lose 10 percent of your purchasing power every five years and 20 percent each decade.

It sounds less benign when you put it that way, doesn’t it?

And that’s the point.

The government wants inflation but it doesn’t want you to notice.

You see, the government needs inflation. It needs to be able to expand the money supply in order to maintain its borrowing and spending habits. It needs the central bank to create money out of thin air and monetize the debt. Easy money is the fuel that powers big government, and easy money means price inflation.

This is precisely why FDR and Richard Nixon severed the dollar from the gold standard. The government couldn’t fund its wars and welfare with sound money.

So, the government constantly walks a tightrope. It wants as much inflation as it can get, but it doesn’t want you to notice.

That was the real problem with the price inflation after the unprecedented monetary stimulus during the pandemic – you noticed.

They tried desperately to keep you from noticing. They insisted inflation was transitory. But when they could no longer pedal that lie, they were forced to raise rates to get the inflation dragon under control. But don’t think for one second that they want to kill it. They need the inflation dragon alive but collared.

The problem is that controlling a dragon is easier said than done.

The U.S. Is Ready With a Gold Revaluation Mechanism Too

(Chris Powell, Money Metals News Service) In an interview this week with Mark Moss of Market Disruptors that is posted at YouTube, Luke Gromen of the Forest for the Trees financial letter notes something about the U.S. Treasury Department and Federal Reserve that has also been contemplated by other governments and central banks.

The U.S. Treasury Department maintains what is essentially its own gold revaluation account at the Fed, in which U.S. gold reserves could be revalued to create any amount of U.S. dollars for the Treasury to draw upon.

The U.S. gold revaluation account is called the Gold Certificate Account and is described on Page 12 of the April edition of the Fed’s Financial Accounting Manual for Federal Reserve Banks.

The manual says:

“The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized to issue gold certificates to the Reserve Banks to monetize gold held by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. At any time, Treasury may reacquire the gold certificates by demonetizing the gold.

“Treasury maintains an account with the [Federal Reserve’s] Board of Governors entitled ‘Gold Certificate Fund / Board of Governors of the FR System.’ When the Treasury monetizes gold, it credits this account in return for deposit credit at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY). When demonetizing gold, Treasury decreases the account and authorizes the FRBNY to charge its deposit account.

“The offsetting entry in each case on FRBNY’s books is made to the Gold Certificate Account and the U.S. Treasury General Account. The FRBNY accounting staff sends an advice of these entries to the [Federal Reserve] Board [of Governors].

“Also, whenever the official price of gold is changed, Treasury adjusts the account and, simultaneously, the deposit account.”

Revaluation of government gold reserves to create money isn’t a new mechanism. It’s a mechanism whose last exercise in the United States is so old that few people are aware of it — President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s revaluation of gold from $20.67 per ounce to $35 per ounce in 1934, an event whose facilitating money creation was well described a few months ago by Money Metals News Service writer Mike Maharrey.

Revaluation of the U.S. gold reserve to facilitate money creation was mentioned, rather remarkably, by a former member of the Fed’s Board of Governors, Lyle Gramley, during an interview with Business News Network in Canada in December 2008.

It was also examined at length by the U.S. economists Paul Brodsky and Lee Quaintance in 2012.

In his discussion this week with Market Disruptors’ Moss, Gromen remarks that a substantial official U.S. revaluation of gold — say, to $20,000 per ounce or more — might enable the creation of trillions of dollars for the U.S. government to use to repay enough of its debt to make the country’s ratio of debt to gross national product appear more plausible and sustainable.

Moss responds that such a revaluation likely would generate huge inflation, but Gromen says that only huge inflation can diminish the debt problem and that other countries have survived and adjusted to such periods.

Of course in the end gold revaluation, like the recent proposal for the Treasury to mint platinum coins with trillion-dollar denominations and turn them into cash at the Fed, is just legerdemain, accounting trickery to rationalize creation of money far out of proportion to national economic production.

But that governments and central banks are so prepared for gold revaluation may be a reminder that the metal remains not just money but also the secret knowledge of the financial universe — and that the nuttiest gold bugs of all are central bankers and the elected officials whose bidding they do, creating a world financial system so crazy that only gold may be able to save it.

ST. ONGE: How Gold Can Save the Dollar

(Peter St. Onge, Money Metals News Service) Can we save the dollar before central banking kills it?

Our deficits are now stuck at 8% of GDP — unprecedented in peacetime. And our national debt just hit $35 trillion — unprecedented in the history of man.

Even the central bankers realize that this isn’t sustainable. That we are coming to the day our paper money utopia crumbles.

Historically, from Song Dynasty China to Weimar Germany, when paper dies we return to hard money. Because backing the dollar with hard money like gold — and eventually Bitcoin — is the only way to finally kill the money printer.

Happily, we can actually do this without the crash.

Major Reserve Currencies since 1250

When Paper Money Dies

The other day Charles Payne sent me a quote by 1970s Fed Chair Paul Volcker who wrote, paraphrasing:

“It is a sobering fact that central banking has led to more inflation, not less. We did better with the 19th-century gold standard, with passive central banks, with currency boards, or even with ‘free banking’. The power of a central bank, after all, is the power to create money and, ultimately, the power to create is the power to destroy.”

This is a fairly striking admission of failure from — by all accounts — the best Fed Chair we’ve had since Wall Street forced the Fed on us in 1913.

Total Government Spending and Revenue as a percent of GDP

A central bank is indeed an extraordinary thing: it’s a privately-owned, federally-licensed counterfeiter the regime can use to seize literally everything in the world by printing money.

It’s why we have inflation and recessions.

It’s why we have Wall Street bailouts and a colossal national debt.

It’s why the government has grown to dominate our economy and our lives.

In contrast, under the gold standard, we had zero cumulative inflation over 124 years.

We had a federal government that was 7 times smaller as a percent of GDP.

In 1913 we had a national debt of 8% of GDP. Today, it’s 140% — in fact, it’s rising by almost 8% per year.

Federal Debt Held by the Public 1900 to 2053 Percentage of Gross Domestic Product GDP

Cumulative Outlays and Revenues 1789 to 2021 in trillions of 2022 dollars USD

How We Get Back to Gold

So how do we get back?

Simple: back the dollar with gold at today’s price — twenty-five hundred per ounce — then mandate that if gold flows out the Treasury has to buy it back in before it does anything else — before it pays Ukraine before it pays interest on the national debt.

Presto.

Why? Because if they keep printing money it creates inflation and gold goes to, say, twenty-six hundred an ounce.

At 2600 people can make free money handing 2500 to the Fed for an ounce of gold and turning around and selling that ounce for 2600.

Gold flows out. And now the Treasury has to buy it in at 2600.

In other words, they lose money on the money printer: they give it away for 25 and buy it at 26.

Inflation in a Gold Standard

That means that, under a gold standard, the Fed and Treasury are forced to keep money creation low enough for zero percent inflation — for stable gold.

In practice, that would mean they can’t print more than gold demand — roughly the same as GDP. Which is about a trillion less per year compared to today.

On the ground, this means interest rates above inflation — no more paying hedge funds to borrow.

It means no more quantitative easing to buy up rich people’s assets leaving inflation for the poors.

It means no more Wall Street bailouts.

And, above all, it chokes off the spending cancer of the welfare-warfare industrial complex.

It could even include ending or reducing fractional-reserve banking — where banks lend out money they don’t have — by tightening long-standing reserve requirements so banks don’t inflate and they don’t crash in the first place.

https://www.moUS Government Spending as Percent of GDP Government Spending in US from FY 1903 to FY 2010

Neither the gold standard nor full reserve banking are remotely on the bingo card for the foreseeable future. And, historically, it takes a crisis to put them there.

But it’s important to remember how easy it is to solve our financial catastrophe if and when we get a politician brave enough to try.

Report: Secret Service Agent Caught Breastfeeding at Trump Event

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) A month after Secret Service negligence nearly had presidential frontrunner Donald Trump killed, the agency apparently still hasn’t placed a proper security team around him.

The latest evidence of Trump security’s incompetence was reported Thursday by Susan Crabtree, whose sources have told her that an agent at a Wednesday Trump event was caught breastfeeding.

“Shortly before Trump’s motorcade arrival—I’m told five minutes beforehand—the site agent was getting ready for the arrival. (The site agent is the person in charge of the entire event’s security.) The site agent went to do one final sweep of the walking route and found the agent breast-feeding her child in a room that is supposed to be set aside for important Secret Service official work, i.e. a potential emergency related to the president,” Crabtree reported.

“A working agent on duty cannot bring a child to a protective assignment. The woman was out of the Atlanta Field Office. The woman agent was in the room with two other family members.”

Citing three sources in the “Secret Service community,” Crabtree said the agent and her family members bypassed the Uniformed Division checkpoint and were escorted by an unpinned event staff into the room to breastfeed, the sources said.

“Unpinned means they have not been cleared by the Secret Service to be there,” she explained.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi reportedly said the agent’s actions didn’t affect security for the event. Her actions are under review, the spokesman said.

It’s not clear if the breastfeeding Secret Service agent was part of Trump’s security for the deadly July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Crabtree reported earlier this week that another agent from the Butler rally is under internal investigation for posting on Instagram while at work.

“A sunset to be grateful for …” one of the agent’s post reportedly stated, including a heart and sunset emojis and the hashtags “#nofilter #southflorida #thankful #workmode …”

According to Crabtree, the agent in question served as the official site agent for the July 13 Butler event.

Crabtree’s report makes similar allegations to those made public by Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., who has Secret Service whistleblowers talking to his office. Hawley revealed last week that those whistleblowers view the lead site agent—the one who apparently worked with the social media poster identified by Crabtree—as “lacking competence and experience.”

Hawley has demanded the lead site agent to be removed from duty.

Lusty Leftists Shamed for Ogling Rep. Luna’s Bikini Pics

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Yes, leftists. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is young, attractive and an effective America First conservative.

On Wednesday, some leftist TikTok users shared photos and videos from Luna’s modeling and activism years. Their goal (albeit unsuccessful) was to undermine her qualifications as a lawmaker.

However, Luna and conservative supporters quickly flipped the script by embracing her past work. “I’m confirming that I have indeed worn swimsuits and you can tell I am biologically a woman. #MAGA,” Luna posted on X, garnering over 4 million views.

In another post, she joked, “I have a confession to make since the TikTok Democrats are onto me: I wear bikinis to the beach and mineral sunscreen.”

Among the TikTok videos was one featuring Luna in a “Make America Great Again” swimsuit. In the video, Luna poses with an American flag in the background.

Other photos show her in an American flag bikini, holding a canned drink on the beach.

These images likely date from 2015 or 2017, when she worked as a model and brand ambassador, appearing in Sports Illustrated, Skyn Magazine and MAXIM.

In a 2017 interview with Skyn, Luna discussed her modeling career. She mentioned starting to date at 18 in Los Angeles and emphasized professionalism.

“ALWAYS BE PROFESSIONAL! I cannot stress this enough… Don’t be afraid to speak up. Always be comfortable in your own skin and the shoots that you choose to do,” Luna said at the time.

On X, many conservatives praised Luna for her “breathtaking” beauty and strong conservatism.

Luna first ran for Congress in 2020, challenging then-Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla. She received 47 percent of the vote, while Crist secured 53 percent.

In 2022, Luna ran again and successfully flipped the district red after Crist resigned to run against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Sworn in January 2023, Luna quickly made an impact by challenging the Squad, holding Democrats accountable and introducing over 42 pieces of legislation.

Most recently, she gained national attention after introducing a motion to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt of Congress for refusing to release an audio recording of President Joe Biden’s deposition to Special Counsel Robert Hur.

Her contempt motion received endorsement from President Donald Trump, who has previously praised her work.

Before joining Congress, Luna served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Turning Point USA and El American, a bilingual conservative news outlet now known as Voz Media. The piece’s author had the privilege of working alongside Luna as editor-in-chief of the El American’s English edition.

Letitia James Demands Big Tech ‘Protect’ Voters from Election-Related ‘Misinformation’

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) New York Attorney General Letitia James told the Big Tech companies to “protect voters” from “misinformation” about the 2024 election.

In the letter obtained by ABC News, James claimed that artificial intelligence poses a risk to voters during the race. She sent the letter to Google, OpenAI, Twitter, Meta, which operates Facebook and Instagram, and six other companies.

“While misinformation has been a concern in past elections, with the rise of gen AI, barriers that prevent bad actors from creating deceptive or misleading content have weakened dramatically,” James wrote in the letter.

ABC mentioned memes made of Kamala Harris that showed a video of her and changed her words, with James claiming that these jokes pose a risk to voters. A robocall that reportedly mimicked Joe Biden’s voice was also referenced, encouraging voters to “save your vote” for the 2024 election.

However, James is a hypocrite. The Post Millennial reported that Douglass Mackey, who shared a meme in the 2016 election season that told Hillary Clinton voters to text their votes, was prosecuted and sentenced to prison time in the state, while Kristina Wong, who put out a video telling Trump voters to vote the day after election day, was not prosecuted.

In July 2024, secretaries of state from Pennsylvania, Washington, New Mexico, Michigan and Minnesota sent a public letter to Elon Musk calling for Twitter’s AI “Grok” to direct voters to CanIVote.org, which fellow AI platforms ChatGPT and OpenAI do.

“As tens of millions of voters in the U.S. seek basic information about voting in this major election year, X has the responsibility to ensure all voters using your platform have access to guidance that reflects true and accurate information about their constitutional right to vote,” the letter stated.

ABC added that James’s letter “said nothing about the companies’ obligation to comply.” However, since the letter is coming from the attorney general’s office, the Big Tech companies would be forced to comply if they don’t decide to do so themselves.

Biden Admin Responds to Accusations of Betraying Israeli Operatives to Iran

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Biden-Harris administration refuted claims it handed Iran a list of the Israeli agents who led the killing of notorious Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

The allegations, first reported by Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida and then picked up by Israeli outlet The Jerusalem Post, originate from an unnamed “senior source” within the Iranian Supreme National Security Council.

“This is categorically false,” said a U.S. National Security Council spokesperson in remarks to The Jerusalem Post.

Haniyeh, one of the Hamas leaders behind the terrorist attack against Israel on Oct. 7,  was killed on Aug. 31 on Iranian soil while inside a suite. He was in the West Asian country for the inauguration of a new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The Hamas mastermind was killed by an explosive device that had been reportedly planned in the guesthouse before his arrival, reported the New York Times.

Al Jarida dubiously claimed that U.S. officials, in meetings mediated by Oman, a country in the Middle East, provided a list of “the names of the 10” Israeli agents who orchestrated Haniyeh’s assassination.

No other outlet has corroborated these claims, prompting critics to question the credibility of Al Jarida’s report. They also criticized The Jerusalem Post for repeating the report without further verification.

“There is absolutely zero percent chance this happened. This is stunningly irresponsible ‘journalism,’” writer Laura E. Adkins posted on X. She is the senior director of Jewish Women International. “Any responsible editor would require independent sourcing of a claim this major.”

Kassy Akiva, a conservative journalist with the Daily Wire, chimed in, saying she needed “another source to verify this.”

Writer and X personality Yashar Ali agreed. “It is so absurd and irresponsible to publish this nonsense, especially given the sourcing and where it’s been picked up from. Of course, it’s spreading like wildfire,” he wrote.

While Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on Aug. 6 that the U.S. had communicated directly with Iran that an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East is not in their interest, offering a list of the individuals behind one of the most consequential killings on Iranian soil would be extremely rare.

Headline USA reached out to The Jerusalem Post for comment. Due to the timing of this article’s publication and the time zone difference with Israel, a response was not expected.

Whistleblower Sues Gascon for ‘Retaliation’ over Adult Tranny Rapist Sent to Girls Prison

(Headline USA) A Los Angeles prosecutor filed a lawsuit against George Soros-backed District Attorney George Gascon this week, alleging that Gascon launched an “extensive retaliation campaign” against him after he blew the whistle on Gascon’s soft-on-crime policies, Fox News reported.

Shea Sanna, the deputy district attorney of Los Angeles County, alleged in the lawsuit that Garscon has targeted him for “reporting unlawful and unethical conduct to [Gascon’s] supervisors and the public.”

In one such case, Gascon allegedly pressured Sanna to “suppress critical information” about a convicted transgender sex offender, James “Hannah” Tubbs, the lawsuit says.

Tubbs began identifying as female—despite presenting as male—after being arrested in connection with the 2014 case involving the molestation of a 10-year-old girl.

Gascon’s office refused to prosecute Tubbs as an adult, even though Tubbs was two weeks away from turning 18 at the time of the abuse and already well past 20 at the time of the 2022 prosecution.

Gascon’s office also agreed to prosecute Tubbs as a girl, leading to Tubbs being sentenced to a juvenile facility for girls for two years.

When Sanna raised concerns about Gascon’s decision, Gascon allegedly took him off the case and prevented him from presenting incriminating evidence against Tubbs, the lawsuit alleges.

Gascon then targeted Sanna with “sham investigations” and even suspended him for “misgendering” Tubbs.

“In the Tubbs case, Deputy District Attorney Shea Sanna did nothing but seek to uphold his ethical and legal duties to present all relevant evidence to the court,” Sanna’s attorney, Anthony Fusaro, said in a statement.

“Yet because this evidence conflicted with D.A. Gascon’s recently enacted policies and public statements, Gascon sought to suppress it,” Fusaro continued. “When Mr. Sanna informed his supervisors and the public of Gascon’s suppression efforts, Gascon responded with a relentless retaliation campaign against Mr. Sanna that persists to this day.”

Sanna’s lawsuit against Gascon is just the latest the embattled district attorney is facing. More than two dozen prosecutors in Gascon’s office have filed similar complaints.

Gascon has survived two recall efforts against him, but he ould be ousted this November as he faces off against independent candidate Nathan Hochman.
