(Headline USA) Grocery chains Harris Teeter and Kroger are facing backlash after they recalled several patriotic products following a complaint from a leftist who claimed the products inspired “mass shootings.”
The products in question had pro-America messages written on them, including “Give me liberty or give me death,” and “America, love it or leave it.”
Christy Clark, a Democrat congressional candidate in North Carolina, took to Twitter to complain about the items, and claimed they were leading to violence.
.@HarrisTeeter @kroger I am disappointed these coozies are being sold in an NC store. 110 Americans die every day from gun violence and most recently children, educators, health care providers, and family members were killed in mass shootings. Please remove them. #ncpol @NCGV pic.twitter.com/7RTkF1SOot

Harris Teeter replied to Clark and said the chain had put in a recall request of the products, and that existing items displaying those messages would be removed from store shelves.
Thanks for reaching out, Christy. As soon as these items were brought to our attention we put a recall request into place and these items are being removed from all store locations. We appreciate your concern.

Conservatives blasted the grocery chain for giving in to “leftist virtue signaling.”
If the corporate bureaucrats at @HarrisTeeter want to engage in leftist virtue signaling, the rest of us should respond accordingly by shopping at supermarkets such as @GiantFood and @Safeway. https://t.co/RKfZv4jjM9

Harris Teeter comes out in opposition to the Constitution and American freedom because “Christy” — a Democrat candidate — told them to. https://t.co/ZqGBfTftGk

One progressive with pronouns in her Twitter bio whined and @HarrisTeeter / @kroger caved in to the whining. https://t.co/c0J4PQ6wEy
