BLM Praises Cuba’s Communist Regime, Blames US for ‘Crushing’ Revolution

'The people of Cuba are being punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination...'

Black Lives Matter confirmed its Marxist roots this week by praising Cuba’s communist regime and blaming the U.S. for the economic and political turmoil that has taken over the island.

Just hours after Cuba’s Communist Party ordered strict crackdowns on pro-freedom protests, the BLM organization posted a statement on Instagram slamming the U.S. for its trade embargo on Cuba; praising Cuba for its socialized healthcare system; and lauding the communist regime’s harboring of “black revolutionaries,” including convicted cop killer Assata Shakur.

“The people of Cuba are being punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination,” BLM claimed. “United States leaders have tried to crush this Revolution for decades.”

Democrats have not commented on BLM’s statement, but Secretary of State Antony Blinken pushed back on claims that the U.S.’s trade embargo is responsible for Cuba’s economic crisis.

“That is what we are hearing and seeing in Cuba, and that is a reflection of the Cuban people, not of the United States or any other outside actor,” he said on Monday.

Many conservatives pointed out BLM’s pro-communist statement confirms the organization’s Marxist roots:

During a 2015 interview, one of BLM’s co-founders, Patrisse Cullors, who recently stepped down from the group’s global foundation after accusations of mismanaged funds and extravagant personal spending, admitted she and the other leaders were “trained Marxists.”

“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers,” she said, referring to BLM co-founder Alicia Garza.

“We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk.”
