(John Ransom, Headline USA) Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) became the latest liberal defector to defy President Biden as Cuellar indicated he would support efforts to stop the lifting of Title 42 restrictions at the southern border.
Cuellar and fellow Democrats Jared Golden of Maine, Stephanie Murphy of Florida, Greg Stanton of Arizona, Chris Pappas of New Hampshire and Tom O’Halleran of Arizona, have each signed on to the bipartisan bill brought for by Republicans, according to Fox News.
“Title 42 should not be lifted,” Cuellar told Fox News Digital
Over the weekend former Congressman Sean Duffy, a Fox News contributor, suggested that the effort by Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) to ship illegal immigrants by charter bus up to Washington DC may be having an effect.

“Just like here, Democrats, liberals, aren’t living with the consequences of open borders,” said Duffy on Fox. “This policy of bringing the migrants — the illegals, not the irregulars — to Washington, D.C., will make the policymakers in Congress and the White House see what it’s like to have so many people flood into your community. Good on Greg Abbott.”
In the Senate five Democrats have signed onto similar legislation that seeks to stop the lifting of Title 42 restrictions.
Sen. Krysten Sinema and Mark Kelly of Arizona, Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana have all indicated they would support the legislation introduced in the Senate keeping the Title 42 restrictions, according to Newsweek.
Title 42 allows removal of illegal immigrants if they have been in a country where a communicable disease has been epidemic, such as Covid.
President Trump used Title 42 to essentially shut down illegal immigration in the United States, but President Joe Biden wants to lift those restrictions, even as Democrats pursue policies based on a COVID emergency existing all around the world.
“Democrats don’t act like they think Covid is finished,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor on Thursday, according to the New Republic. “They give speeches daily about the need for more funding. They say we should be sending health assistance around the world. The only place on the planet where Democrats say Covid is over is on our southern border.”
