GOP Sen. Introduces Bill to Punish Ballot-Banning Anti-Trump Conspirators

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said he plans to introduce legislation as soon as the next session begins to withhold funding from states that have arbitrarily redefined “insurrection” to remove former President Donald Trump from the ballot.

Both the Colorado Supreme Court and Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows have threatened to exclude Trump from the GOP primary ballot, eliciting bipartisan backlash for their overtly partisan move, Axios reported.

“This is an egregious abuse of power,” the centrist Tillis tweeted Thursday night following Bellows’s decree.

All seven of the Colorado high court’s justices were appointed by Democrat governors. Bellows, a former activist leader with the far-left American Civil Liberties Union, was appointed by the state legislature rather than voted into office.

Tillis said the proposed bill would “stop these partisan officials and ensure any constitutional challenge is only decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Tillis’s bill would amend the 2002 Help America Vote Act by withholding federal election funding from those states “misusing the Fourteenth Amendment for political purposes.”

The 14th Amendment, which contains the rarely used Section 3 “insurrection clause” also established birthright citizenship and extended “due process” rights to the states,

Those sections of the 1868 amendment have lengthy history of being abused by the Left to support illegal immigration, remove prayer from schools and bolster the LGBT agenda.

In any case, the extralegal maneuvering by the Left is so egregious that even Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, an outspoken NeverTrump Republican, released a statement backing the GOP frontrunner’s right to appear on the Maine primary ballot.

“Maine voters should decide who wins the election—not a Secretary of State chosen by the Legislature,” Collins noted.

The decision, according to Collins, was particularly problematic because it “would deny thousands of Mainers the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice.”

For that reason, she suggested, “it should be overturned.”

Meanwhile, some Democrats have attempted to defend the strategy, which is being spearheaded by the George Soros-funded leftist lawfare group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

“The text of the 14th Amendment is crystal clear: anyone who participates in insurrection is permanently barred from public office,” Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., said.

“Donald Trump incited a violent riot to overthrow American democracy,” Pascrell added. “Of course he should be banned from the presidency forever.”

The mostly peaceful Jan. 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol was dispersed within roughly four hours, despite efforts by U.S. Capitol Police, D.C. Metro police and others to provoke the demonstrators while exercising their First Amendment freedoms to assemble and petition the government.

Trump has never been criminally indicted or convicted of insurrection, despite leftist prosecutors having filed 91 other felony counts against him. He was acquitted by the U.S. Senate after partisan House Democrats impeached him for his role in Jan. 6.

Maine Republicans Push for Bellows’s Impeachment as Activist Roots Resurface

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Republican members of the Maine House of Representatives are preparing to file articles of impeachment against the infamous secretary of state who unilaterally blocked former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state’s GOP primary ballot.

State Rep. John Andrews, leading the impeachment threat, said Secretary of State Shenna Bellow’s decision to block Maine voters from picking Trump as their Republican nominee is grounds for impeachment. He specifically cited Trump’s lack of conviction.

“I wish to impeach her on the grounds that she is barring an American citizen and 45th President of the United States, who is convicted of no crime or impeachment, their right to appear on a Maine Republican Party ballot in March,” Andrews said on Facebook..

Bellows’s decision followed the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that claimed Trump is barred from holding public officer over his alleged role in a so-called “insurrection” on Jan. 6.

Both Bellows and Colorado’s court claimed that the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution prohibits individuals who engage in insurrection from holding elected office. Trump, however, has not been convicted nor indicted of such a crime.

Andrews slammed Bellows’ decision. “This is hyper-partisanship on full display,” he added. “A Secretary of State APPOINTED by legislative Democrats bans President Trump from the 2024 ballot so that she can jockey for position in the 2026 Democrat Primary for Governor. Banana Republic isn’t just a store at the mall.”

Other Maine Republicans echoed Andrews’ remarks against Bellows. “This is a sham decision that mimics Third-World dictatorships,” said Maine House Leader Billy Bob Faulkingham. “It will not stand legal scrutiny. People have a right to choose their leaders devoid of mindless decisions by partisan hacks.”

The criticism extended to the U.S. Congress with a Democrat voicing concerns over the move. U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, saying that while he opposed Trump he should remain on the ballot until convicted of insurrection.

“I voted to impeach Donald Trump for his role in the January 6th insurrection. I do not believe he should be re-elected as President of the United States. However, we are a nation of laws, therefore until he is actually found guilty of the crime of insurrection, he should be allowed on the ballot,” he said on Twitter.

According to the Daily Caller, Bellows assumed the role of the state’s secretary of state in January 2021 after being appointed by the legislature. She held two terms as a state senator from 2016 through 2021. Before holding public office, she served as the executive director of the Maine American Civil Liberties Union. She unsuccessfully ran against U.S. Sen. Collins in 2014 and publicly dubbed Jan. 6 as an insurrection on Feb. 13, 2021.

Feds Target as ‘Domestic Terrorist’ Journalist Who Exposed Ashli Babbitt Lies

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A leaked document suggests that a Jan. 6 video journalist was labeled a “Domestic Terrorist” by the federal government after releasing revealing footage of Ashli Babbitt’s death.

Tayler Hansen, a journalist who covered the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol protest, unveiled a document allegedly obtained from a whistleblower, saying he was marked as a “Domestic Terrorist (DT).”

“I have obtained an internal document from a whistleblower proving I was victim of an illegitimate investigation from the Federal Government due to my reporting on January 6th,” Hansen said on Twitter. “I was targeted by the U.S. government for doing my job and branded as a Domestic Terrorist.”

The document accused Hansen of displaying “violent tendencies,” citing prior resistance to arrest and specifically referencing his video of Babbitt’s death. However, Hansen refuted the accusations listed in the document.

The document appeared to bear a header from “TSA LE/FAMS,” representing the TSA Law Enforcement’s Federal Air Marshal Service. It includes Hansen’s birthdate, height, weight, and a category code labeling him as “102 Suspect (DT).”

The document, filled with typos, read, “HANSEN was one of the individuals who trespassed in [sic] the U.S. Capital [sic] on 1/6/21, HANSEN posed [sic] a video he was next to the person who was shot and provided an interview on Laura Ingram’s [sic] show stating he was in the building.”

The leaked file also lists the flights taken by Hansen between February 2021 and July 2022. Hansen claimed he was shadowed by “THREE Air Marshalls on 16 different flights meaning over a 2 year time span I had 48 Air Marshalls assigned to me.”

It’s unclear if TSA officers physically followed Hansen, but he suggested it may have cost “roughly $100,000” of taxpayer money.

“They left my occupation blank as well when they knew I was credentialed reporter on January 6th and has been reporting on breaking news for nearly 2 years,” he added.

Notably, Hansen gained attention last year after releasing footage contradicting the mainstream media’s characterization of Babbitt as a violent terrorist.

In his video, Babbitt can be seen trying to stop individuals from smashing a window near the Speaker’s Lobby on U.S. Capitol. She also pushed another person who was causing damage to calm the agitated man.

Moments later, however, Babbitt climbed through the broken window, prompting Capitol Police Lt. Michael Leroy Byrd to fire a fatal shot, causing her death. He does not regret shooting Babbitt, claiming that he saved multiple lives.

MAGA Activist Accuses Michigan GOP Officials of Being Dem. Plant

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Investigative journalist Laura Loomer accused Michigan GOP Chairwoman Kristina Karamo of being part of a non-profit named UnAthorized, allegedly aiding non-Republican candidates in securing elected offices.

Karamo, a conservative activist and staunch critic of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, refuted the allegations. She clarified that her involvement with UnAthorized was unpaid and part of a broader strategy to engage non-conservative spaces.

According to Loomer, UnAthorized, a Nevada-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, assists both Republicans and Democrats. Initial records listed Karamo as the current president, but an UnAthorized spokesperson clarified her departure from the organization.

In a damning report, Loomer claimed that Karamo promoted Democrats while serving as the Michigan GOP chair, potentially “sabotaging” the party ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

Loomer added, “However, even if it’s incompetence and not intentional sabotage, Karamo’s financial disasters and history with UnAuthorized make it clear that the Michigan GOP must move on with a new chair.”

The accusation triggered a letter from some of the Michigan GOP district chairs, where they expressed concerns about Karamo’s alleged ties to the Nevada-based non-profit. Dated Dec. 28, the letter suggests a possible violation of the party’s bylaws.

“You publicly stated you were involved with the group several years ago, but had withdrawn when you were elected MRP chair. However, the non-profit was formed after you became chair and records show you retained a leadership position even after your public statement,” the district chairs wrote.

“This is a clear conflict of interest which violates MRP bylaws, something you have been very concerned with having all of us sign forms to prevent,” they added.

Responding to the district chairs, Karamo rebuked Loomer’s accusations, labeling her intent as “malicious.”

According to a leaked email, Karamo said, “Over the last few days, Laura Loomer has taken to X (formerly Twitter) with malicious intent to disparage my character. She made several deceptive claims regarding my previous affiliation with the UnAthorized non-profit organization.”

Later in the alleged email, Karamo clarified that no MIGOP bylaws were violated and asserted never having received compensation from UnAthorized.

“We cannot sit in our safe bubbles, operate like a private social club, and expect to win elections,” she continued. “It’s not secret that for the last few decades, the Republican Party has been atrophying.”

Growing Disdain for Diplomas Leads Employers to Emphasize Skills

(Eli Pacheco, Headline USA) A Harvard University plagiarism scandal and the wave of anti-Semitism sweeping the nation’s most elite universities are but the latest black-eyes for higher education amid growing criticism over campuses’ metamorphosis into woke indoctrination centers.

As students question the overall value of a college education, the restart of student-loan payments and surging interest rates that make it difficult to buy a home have even more would-be college applicants rethinking their career paths.

Following decades of growth, recently released data from the National Center for Education revealed that enrollment numbers for undergraduate programs have been in significant decline since 2010.

There were 16.2 million undergrad students in the U.S. in the spring of 2022, according to Education Data Initiative, a team that researches the U.S. education system. That’s down 14.7% from the peak in fall of 2020.

In response, some employers have begun placing more value on skills than diplomas. A analysis released in April by the career-networking website LinkedIn indicated that 19% of job postings don’t require a degree anymore, down from 15% in 2021.

“Employers have long relied on proxies like education or years of experience in a given role to signal that a candidate was capable of performing a job,” said Rand Ghayad, LinkedIn’s head of economics and global labor markets, according to Forbes. “Now we are seeing more weight being put on having the right skills.”

The push has bipartisan support, as well, with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., the chair of the House Education and Workforce Committee, both participating in a discussion on skills-based hiring moderated by Axios.

“If anything we want to say in high school, you’re going to have options: You could do a paid internship, learning a skill, get a credential, choose to join the workforce, choose to go to a two-year school to hone those skills or maybe get a two-year degree on that, or choose to go to a four-year school and get an advanced degree in that,” Cardona said.

“But there should be a pathway with ladders—with a ladder—of upward mobility for these students, and options,” he added. “At the end of the day, they need options.”

In the meantime, students opting for the traditional pathway through four-year undergraduate institutions are finding their postgraduate options more constrained by the financial burden than broadened by the knowledge they gained.

A report on the impact of student-loan debt by the National Association of Realtors found that many Americans stay in jobs they don’t like or that don’t interest them because of debt and are more likely to take a second job or one outside their field of expertise.

That includes 51% of those who don’t own a home because they claim student-loan debt makes it impossible for them to buy one now.

Of course, other factors in the Biden economy, such as the inflationary spike in building-supply costs and the surge in illegal immigrants compounding supply-and-demand issues for existing homes have also contributed, as have the Federal Reserve’s steadily increasing interest rates.

Still, when factoring in their other life expenses, the pursuit of academic degrees has seen a diminishing return on investment.

Borrowers who have paid off student loans say they use those funds for other purposes, such as:

  • Paying off other debt (34%)
  • Contributing to long-term savings (31%)
  • Investing (26%)
  • Buying a new home (13%)

According to the NAR report, only 23% of student loan recipients said they understood the costs before taking on the debt. That group is also more likely to have a better grasp of the cost when they took out loans for dependents or children (39%) than when they did so for themselves.

RINO Ohio Gov. Vetoes Bill Protecting Girls Sports, Banning Kids’ Genital Surgery

(Headline USA) RINO Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine vetoed a measure Friday that would have banned LGBT-driven genital mutilation for minors and prevented transgenders from commandeering girls and women’s sports, in a break from members of his party who championed the legislation.

GOP lawmakers hold enough seats to override DeWine’s veto, but if or when they would do so was not immediately clear. Both within and between chambers, Republican legislators have not been in lockstep this year.

In a news conference Friday, DeWine said he had listened to people on both sides of the legislation who “truly believe their position best protects children.”

He claimed that the bill would affect a small number of Ohio children.

However, “for those children who face gender dysphoria and for their families, the consequences of this bill could not be more profound,” he said in announcing his decision to veto the legislation.

“Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life,” he continued.

In doing so, DeWine ignored the bigger picture in a movement that is designed to subvert scientific facts and replace them with identity politics.

Critics contend that children swept up in a craze of pro-trans propaganda—on social-media sites like TikTok, in indoctrinatory school curricula, and even in the virtue-signaling fervor of some leftist parents to turn their children into props and accessories—may potentially be forced to make life-altering decisions that could affect their well being before their mental reasoning capacity has fully matured.

Meanwhile, allowing biological males, regardless of their sexual identities and fetishes, to participate against females creates considerably more harm for competitors who then find themselves at a physical disadvantage. It has been exploited in several high-profile cases by mediocre male athletes who went on to dominate the competition in the women’s division.

DeWine said that protecting the interests of these victims came secondary to advancing the social-engineering agenda and financial interests of the medical professionals who were aggressively pushing such procedures.

“Now, while there are rare times in the law in other circumstances where the state overrules the medical decisions made by the parents, I can think of no examples where this is done where it is not only against the decision of the parent, but also against the medical judgement of the treating physician and against the judgement of the treating team of medical experts,” he claimed. “Therefore, I cannot sign this bill as it currently written.”

Nonetheless, DeWine insisted there were administrative actions that could address the main concerns of the bill and announced a three-prong approach.

  • Rather than go through the legislature, he sought to expand his executive authority by directing agencies to prohibit gender-reassignment surgery on those under 18. He said he believes it’s a “fallacy out there that this goes right to surgery.”
  • He agreed with the Legislature that there was no comprehensive data on those who transition genders and planned to direct relevant agencies to report findings to the Legislature and public about minors and adults undergoing it.
  • Lastly, DeWine said his administration would draft rules and restrictions to prevent “pop up clinics or fly by night operations” so families receive “adequate counseling” prior to undergoing any irreversible treatment.

In addition to preventing genital alteration surgeries, the measure, which passed the Legislature earlier this month in a party-line vote, would have prohibited Ohio minors from taking puberty blockers and undergoing other hormone therapies, the effects of which have not been fully studied.

The bill would have allowed underage Ohio residents to continue any treatments they are currently receiving.

DeWine’s veto departs from a nationwide trend toward passing such laws. Since 2021, more than 20 states have enacted laws restricting or banning such treatments. Most of those states face lawsuits, but courts have issued mixed rulings.

The bill also would have required public K-12 schools and universities to designate separate teams for male and female sexes, and explicitly banned transgender participation in sports specially designated for females.

At least 20 states have passed some version of a ban on transgender athletes playing on K-12 and collegiate sports teams statewide. However, those bans may be upended by a  regulation proposed by President Joe Biden’s administration to revise the federal gender-equity laws and altogether redefine the government’s definition of “gender.” It is set to be finalized early next year.

Biden Threatens Abbott: Jailing Illegal Aliens Is Unconstitutional

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Biden DOJ issued a legal threat to Gov. Greg Abbot, R-Texas, over a new law that allows state authorities to arrest individuals residing in the country illegally.

In a threatening letter, the federal government claimed that the law was unconstitutional and would hinder the Biden administration’s so-called immigration enforcement operations, reported the Houston Chronicle on Thursday.

Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton said in the letter that if Abbott does not suspend the law, “the United States will pursue all appropriate legal remedies to ensure that Texas does not interfere with the functions of the federal government.”

Abbott signed the law in question earlier this month, citing an unprecedented influx of illegal aliens crossing the border illegally into Texas. “President Biden’s deliberate inaction has left Texas to fend for itself,” Abbott said in Dec. 21 press release. “These laws will help stop the tidal wave of illegal entry into Texas, add additional funding to build more border wall, and crackdown on human smuggling.”

Experts anticipated that the law, scheduled to take effect in March 2024, could spark a legal battle potentially reaching the Supreme Court.

In response to the letter, an Abbott spokesperson said: “Texas is prepared to take this fight all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect Texans and Americans from President Biden’s open border policies. President Biden’s deliberate and dangerous inaction at our southern border has left Texas to fend for itself.”

The Texas chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union quickly sued the Texas government, alleging the illegality of Abbott’s law. “We’re suing to block one of the most extreme anti-immigrant bills in the country,” said Adriana Piñon, legal director of the ACLU of Texas.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Abbott said the law was written so it “can and should be upheld in the courts on its own.” In contrast, the DOJ claimed that the U.S. Constitution grants the federal government the power to regulate immigration and control the nation’s border.

The federal government invoked a 2012 Supreme Court case affirming its sole authority to enforce immigration-related laws. At the time, Arizona had passed a law allowing local law enforcement to arrest individuals residing in the country illegally.

In the letter, the DOJ added, “Indeed, the Supreme Court has confirmed that ‘the removal process’ must be ‘entrusted to the discretion of the Federal Government’ because a ‘decision on removability’ touches ‘on foreign relations and must be made with one voice.’”

African National Robs, Threatens to ‘Kill’ Journalist Live on Air

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Disturbing footage captured the exact moment when a reported African man robbed, assaulted and threatened to kill a Spanish reporter while on live air.

The harrowing ordeal began as Marta Manzano, a reporter for local channel Antena 3 (Chanel 3), prepared to go on air for the show Espejo Público (Public Mirror) as she regularly does.

It was then that a man, described by El Debate newspaper as “subsahariano” (sub-Saharan, in English), started to pester the reporter and her camera crew. He then proceeded to dig through the crew’s luggage.

“What are you doing!?” Manzano can be heard shouting at the man in Spanish.

“Call the police! Call the police,” she pleaded with bystanders, before directing the camera towards the man. “Come here… I got you on camera. You’re live on air.”

As recounted by the reporter herself in a subsequent Spanish interview.

“He continuously demanded we take our wallets out. He asked to see our press passes, but we told him we didn’t have them because only law enforcement can view those,” she declared.

The man grew angrier when the reporter did not concede to his demands. “That’s when he started touching the camera. He pushed my colleague, and that’s when I began pleading for help,” she declared.

The man started rummaging through the camera equipment, she said. “I approached and asked myself, ‘What am I doing?’ because I didn’t know what he might do next.”

The video captured the man uttering some inaudible foreign words, with local media reporting that he said, “Call the police and I will kill you.”

Despite repeated pleas for help, Manzano said nobody came to their aid. “There were multiple witnesses, but nobody did anything,” she lamented.

Manzano shared news of the assault on her Instagram’s temporary stories, with several of her colleagues applauding her bravery during the horrific incident.

University Fires Chancellor Who Filmed and Posted Porno Vids Online

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The University of Wisconsin-La–La Crosse terminated its chancellor following the emergence of multiple porn videos he had filmed and posted online with his wife.

UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow was expelled from his position after the unanimous ruling of the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents, which deemed his actions “abhorrent” and damaging to the university’s reputation.

“In recent days, we learned of specific conduct by Dr. Gow that has subjected the university to significant reputational harm. His actions were abhorrent,” UW President Jay Rothman said on Wednesday.

UW regent president Karen Walsh also condemned Gow’s porn videos in a statement. “We are alarmed, and disgusted, by his actions, which were wholly and undeniably inconsistent with his role as chancellor,” she said.

Gow, the university’s second-longest-serving chancellor, was dismissed due to adult videos posted under the username “Sexy Happy Couple,” available on verified platforms such as Pornhub, XHamster and OnlyFans. The couple also has a YouTube show where they cook meals and interview porn stars.

The ousted chancellor defended himself against his former employer’s scathing remarks, citing First Amendment rights in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“There’s nothing said about the University of Wisconsin; there’s nothing said about the chancellor (on the videos),” he retorted. “So someone else would have to make those associations. And then someone would have to say those are problematic.”

Gow also pushed back in an Thursday interview with the New York Times. “We have that show, ‘Sexy Healthy Cooking,’ where we interview performers and really humanize them in ways that you wouldn’t get in their other work,” Gow said. “It’s an interesting process, and the people that we work with are completely professional, and very great to work with.”

Gow claimed he did not use university funds for the videos’ production and claimed minimal earnings from them.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he had initially announced plans to resign before news of the videos surfaced online. At the time, UW President Rothman had commended Gow for his “excellent stewardship.”

Gow’s wife, Carmen Wilson, is also tied to the university, having served on the search committee that tapped Gow as chancellor. They married in 2014.

While the exact timing of the videos isn’t immediately clear, most of their content on adult sites dates back only several weeks.

Seattle Closes BLM Park Due to Rampant Homelessness, Drug Use

(Headline USA) Seattle officials shut down a park dedicated to the Black Lives Matter movement this week due to rampant homelessness and drug use in the area.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department started a BLM-themed community garden in Cal Anderson Park following the riots of 2020, but announced on Wednesday that the “makeshift” garden was being removed due to public safety concerns.

Officials admitted that homeless tent encampments near the garden had made it unclean and unsafe. This year alone, the city’s Unified Care Team has had to clean up the encampments near Cal Anderson Park 76 times, the city said.

The garden had also become a frequent spot for vandalism in the public restrooms, public drug use and unauthorized camping, the department added.

“In recent months, the temporary garden has created unsafe conditions for all park users, including the vandalism of Cal Anderson public bathrooms, public drug use, unauthorized camping and a significant rodent problem, along with other issues,” said Rachel Schulkin, a spokeswoman for Seattle Parks.

Seattle officials reportedly planned to disband the garden back in October, but faced resistance from the Black Star Farmers, which helped design the garden. The group claimed the garden honors “black and indigenous people killed by police.”

However, others admitted the garden is not serving that purpose.

“The black community is unaware of the existence of the garden, and the garden does not represent any meaningful sense, the vast number of black lives extinguished by police violence,” said Darrell Powell, president of the Seattle, King County NAACP. “The Seattle-King County NAACP stands with Mayor Bruce Harrell and his administration in establishing a true representation memorializing the Black Lives lost due to police violence.”

Regardless, in an effort to appease leftist activists, the city announced it would work to find a new location for the BLM garden.

“In partnership with the Black Farmers Collective and leaders in Seattle’s black community, Mayor Harrell and the City will conceptualize a new commemorative garden,” the city said in a statement.
