SCOTUS Unanimously Rules That It Has No Business Regulating Abortion Pills

(Headline USA) The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously preserved access to a pharmaceutical that was used in nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the U.S. last year, in the court’s first abortion decision since conservative justices overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago.

While a victory on paper for abortion advocates, the ruling is likely to take considerable steam from one of the top wedge issues that Democrats had hoped to use to motivate their base in the coming November election, affirming that so-called abortion access is not under attack at the federal level, as the Left claims it to be.

It may also buy some relief for Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, who have been personally targeted for attack by activists waging a smear campaign to discredit the court’s two most conservative jurists and some of its oldest.

The justices ruled that plaintiffs seeking to ban the drug lacked the legal right to sue over the federal Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the medication, mifepristone, and the FDA’s subsequent actions to ease access to it.

The case had threatened to restrict access to mifepristone across the country, including in states where abortion remains legal.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote for the court that “federal courts are the wrong forum for addressing the plaintiffs’ concerns about FDA’s actions.”

Kavanaugh was part of the majority to overturn Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health—a ruling that focused not on the legality of abortion per se, but on the fact that the Roe-era court had overstepped its authority by legislating from the bench.

The decision not to get involved in yet another case that would require it to regulate the issue thus seems consistent with the reasoning they applied, and likely preserves the legislation from states like Texas and Louisiana that have acted to restrict access to the pills.

A recent law passed in Louisiana cited cases—including a high profile one involving the sister of the bill’s sponsor—in which pregnant women had been secretly poisoned using the abortion drug by others hoping to force them to involuntarily and unwittingly kill the preborn infant.

It may be impossible to know how many such cases succeed in the U.S. without the mother’s knowledge, since only those that are discovered and prosecuted ultimately become part of the public record.

However, the drug’s proponents argue that the harm caused in limiting its availability to mothers who are forced against their will to carry out an unwanted pregnancy would be far greater.

More than 6 million people have used mifepristone since 2000. The drug blocks the hormone progesterone and primes the uterus to respond to the contraction-causing effect of a second drug, misoprostol. The two-drug regimen has been approved to abort babies through 10 weeks gestation.

Health care providers have said that if mifepristone is no longer available or is too hard to obtain, they would switch to using only misoprostol, which is somewhat less effective in ending pregnancies.

President Joe Biden’s administration and drug manufacturers had warned that siding with abortion opponents in this case could undermine the FDA’s drug approval process beyond the abortion context by inviting judges to second-guess the agency’s scientific judgments.

The Democratic administration and New York-based Danco Laboratories, which makes mifepristone, argued that the drug is among the safest the FDA has ever approved.

The decision “safeguards access to a drug that has decades of safe and effective use,” Danco spokeswoman Abigail Long said in a statement.

The abortion opponents argued in court papers that the FDA’s decisions in 2016 and 2021 to relax restrictions on getting the drug were unreasonable and “jeopardize women’s health across the nation.”

Kavanaugh acknowledged what he described as the opponents’ “sincere legal, moral, ideological, and policy objections to elective abortion and to FDA’s relaxed regulation of mifepristone.”

But he said they went to the wrong forum and should instead direct their energies to persuading lawmakers and regulators to make changes.

Former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has publicly stated that he would push to keep abortion decisions where they currently are, at the state level, if reelected.

The mifepristone case began five months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe. Abortion opponents initially won a sweeping ruling nearly a year ago from U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump nominee in Texas, which would have revoked the drug’s approval entirely.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals left intact the FDA’s initial approval of mifepristone. But it would reverse changes regulators made in 2016 and 2021 that eased some conditions for administering the drug.

The Supreme Court put the appeals court’s modified ruling on hold, then agreed to hear the case, though Alito and Thomas would have allowed some restrictions to take effect while the case proceeded.

The high court is separately considering another abortion case, about whether a federal law on emergency treatment at hospitals overrides state abortion bans in rare emergency cases in which a pregnant patient’s health is at serious risk.

J6 Inmate Sues DC Jail for Abuse

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) A Jan. 6 inmate has sued the Washington DC Department of Corrections after a guard pepper sprayed him for removing his face mask to take medication in a September 2022 incident.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in federal court, comes from Jan. 6 inmate Ronald Colton McAbee, who’s serving a 70-month prison sentence for allegedly assaulting Capitol Police officers. McAbee admitted to one count of assault last September and pled not guilty to five others—but was convicted by a DC jury anyway last October.

According to his lawsuit, McAbee was sitting his in his cell on Sept. 5, 2022, when DOC employee Crystal Lancaster allegedly pepper sprayed him for removing his face mask to take medication. Lancaster allegedly pepper sprayed him even though DC Jail policy required inmates like to remove any face mask while consuming such medication.

“Lancaster knowingly, maliciously, and sadistically administered the chemical agent directly to Mr. McAbee’s face from less than four feet away,” said McAbee’s lawsuit.

McAbee said he was sprayed again after Lancaster called for backup.

“Following the two chemical sprays, Defendant Lancaster and another officer yelled at Mr. McAbee for not wearing a COVID-19 mask and placed him in a shower with only very hot water, which amplified the burning sensation of the chemical spray,” the lawsuit said.

“McAbee was not provided an opportunity to decontaminate thoroughly. Instead, Mr. McAbee was taken to a medical facility, en route to which—as Mr. McAbee was handcuffed behind his back—an officer placed a COVID-19 mask on Mr. McAbee’s face.”

McAbee said he was then placed in solitary confinement for three days, still with no opportunity to decontaminate himself.

During that time, the chemical agent reactivated and caused Mr. McAbee intense burning pain. Finally, on the third day, an officer on duty took pity on Mr. McAbee and permitted McAbee to take a thorough shower, the lawsuit continued.

McAbee said he continues to suffer physical and emotional trauma from the incident.

The Jan. 6 inmate seeks damages over the incident, which is also being probed by the House Judiciary Committee.

Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, began probing the matter in Jan. 2023, when he sent records requests to the DOC, U.S. Marshals, and Metropolitan Police Department for the body camera footage of Lancaster’s encounter with McAbee.

According to Nehls, the government has been stonewalling him.

McAbee’s lawsuit Tuesday also said the government has yet to turn over body-cam footage of the incident.

Dems Use Trump’s Kangaroo Conviction to Target Liquor Licenses at N.J. Golf Courses

(Headline USA) Democrats in New Jersey have seized on former President Donald Trump’s conviction earlier this month to potentially strip is golf courses in the state of their liquor licenses.

A spokesperson for the New Jersey attorney general’s office confirmed this week that it is “reviewing the impact of President Trump’s conviction” on the liquor licenses at Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck, Lamington Farm Club in Bedminster, and Trump National Golf Club Pine Hill.

The liquor licenses at the three clubs remain active as of now, the spokesperson clarified. However, New Jersey law prohibits liquor licenses from being issued to “any person under 18 years old or to any person who has been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude.”

It also requires those applying for liquor licenses to have a “reputable” character and to conduct business in a “reputable manner.”

The Trump Organization blasted the New Jersey attorney general’s probe as baseless, arguing that Trump is not the holder of the liquor licenses.

“President Trump is not the holder of any liquor license in New Jersey, and he is not an officer or director of any entity that holds a liquor license in New Jersey—or anywhere in the United States for that matter,” a spokesperson for the Trump organization said in a statement.

“These are some of the most iconic properties in the world, and reports like this do nothing but harm the thousands of hard-working Americans who derive their livelihoods from these spectacular assets,” the spokesperson added.

Trump was found guilty by a Manhattan jury earlier this month on all 34 felony counts for allegedly falsifying business records during his 2016 campaign. He is scheduled to be sentenced just four days before the Republican National Convention next month, and has vowed to appeal the verdict.

“The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people, and they know what happened here, and everybody knows what happened here,” Trump said shortly after his verdict was read.

Inflation Is Dead! Or Is It?

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) Strike up the band and wave the victory banners! Inflation is dead! Or is it?

The May Consumer Price Index (CPI) report was cause for optimism. But price inflation is like that stubborn weed in the driveway. Just when you think you’ve killed it for good, it pokes back through a crack.

Keep in mind that this time last year, we were also talking about a victory over inflation.

In July 2023, an analyst told CNBC, “There has been significant progress made on the inflation front, and today’s report confirmed that while most of the country is dealing with hotter temperatures outside, inflation is finally cooling,”

It wasn’t quite what it seemed.

May 2023 CPI Data

Taken together with April’s CPI data, the May report can certainly be looked at optimistically. But viewed more objectively, it seems the mainstream is spinning it a bit too hard.

On an annual basis, CPI was up 3.3 percent in May, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This was down from 3.4 percent in April. The projection was for annual CPI to remain unchanged.

But to put that number in context, in June 2023, the annual CPI was only 3.0 percent. In other words, CPI still hasn’t returned to the level was saw one year ago.

On a monthly basis, CPI was unchanged. Last month, prices rose 0.3 percent. The expectation was for a 0.1 percent increase.

But again, we need to put the number in some context. The month-on-month CPI gain in May 2023 was also small (0.1 percent) and was widely lauded in the mainstream financial media as a victory over inflation.

You should also note that prices have gone up just over 1.6 percent in the last six months. I doubt the average person paying those higher prices is in a celebratory mood.

Excluding more volatile food and energy prices (as if anybody can exclude such things from their budgets) core CPI was up 0.2 percent in May, down a tick from the 0.3 percent read in April.

On an annual basis, core CPI came in at 3.4 percent.

Looking at the core CPI data over the last seven months provides more context. It came in a 0.3 percent in October, 0.3 percent in November, 0.4 percent in December, January and February, 0.3 percent in March, and 0.2 percent in April. In fact, core CPI has been mired in this range since last July.

It’s also interesting to note several of these numbers have been revised upward since the initial release.

It’s important to note that none of the annual numbers are close to the Federal Reserve’s mythical 2 percent price inflation target. You can argue that the April and May numbers show a hint of cooling, but again, we’ve seen that before. Everybody was convinced prices were falling and inflation was beat late last summer.

When you put all of the data in context and look at it with an objective eye, it’s pretty clear that price inflation remains sticky.

In fact, a longer-term view of the data reveals price inflation has been stuck in the same range for a year.

And keep in mind, inflation is worse than the government data suggest. The government revised the CPI formula in the 1990s so that it understates the actual rise in prices. Based on the formula used in the 1970s, CPI is closer to double the official numbers. So, if the BLS was using the old formula, we’re looking at CPI closer to 6 percent. And using an honest formula, it would probably be worse than that.

Digging a little deeper into the CPI report, we find that a big chunk of the annual decline was due to falling energy costs. Gasoline prices dropped 3.6 percent month-on-month in May.

Inflation Still Has a Heartbeat

While the mainstream financial media fixated on the CPI report, few people have noted that the money supply has started to increase again.

And that, by definition, is inflation.

Most people conflate rising prices with monetary inflation. They aren’t the same and this imprecise verbiage creates confusion.

When government officials and pundits on TV talk about “inflation,” they almost always mean price inflation. This is what the CPI attempts to measure – how much prices have generally gone up in the economy.

But historically, “inflation” didn’t mean “rising prices.” Inflation was defined more precisely as an increase in the amount of money and credit in the economy, or more succinctly, an expansion in the money supply.

One of the symptoms of monetary inflation is prices generally rising throughout the economy. In other words, CPI reflects the result of inflation, not inflation itself.

The money supply (M2) had been contracting since December 2022, but it suddenly went positive in March.

This increase in the money supply happened without the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates. When the Fed does get around to cutting, that money supply growth will accelerate.

So, Fed rate cuts and balance sheet reduction have reined in inflation, but the impact of that tighter monetary policy has run its course. Inflation (properly defined) is already on the rise, and the central bank is about to give it a big boost with rate cuts.

And as I’ve been reporting for months, while monetary policy is tighter, it isn’t tight. The Chicago Fed’s own financial conditions index confirms this. The NFCI decreased to –0.56 in the week ending June 7. A negative number indicates financial conditions are historically loose. It has been running negative for months.

The bottom line is the demise of inflation is greatly exaggerated.

Charlamagne Tha God Calls Out Black Media Over Hunter Biden Support

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A prominent black radio host has sharply criticized fellow black media personalities for defending President Joe Biden’s newly convicted felon son, Hunter Biden, as reported by the Daily Caller.

During his Power 105.1 radio show, The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, expressed frustration over the support Hunter Biden has received from black media personalities.

He argued that if Hunter Biden were black, the response from the media would be drastically different.

The discussion arose after co-host DJ Envy questioned whether federal prosecutors had evidence of Hunter Biden’s drug use when he falsely stated he was not using drugs on a federal gun purchase form.

Charlamagne responded, “I thought he always said he smoked crack.”

Charlamagne then criticized the Biden family and black personalities who defend them.

“Biden is better than a lot of these Negroes because it amazes me the way some black people go out of their way to cape for anything that has to do with President Biden,” the radio host said. “Hunter Biden gets sentenced, and I see black folks in media: ‘This is wrong, this is some BS. Nobody gets charged with this.’ Negro, please. If you was black and they thought you was on drugs and you did what Hunter Biden did, they would have been put you under the jail.”

Charlamagne continued, “He’s been battling drug addiction for a long, long, long, long, long time. I highly doubt that he just was clean the moment he bought these guns. They brought these charges for a reason.”

The radio host then turned the conversation about Hunter Biden potentially receiving a pardon from his dad.

Charlamagne also addressed the possibility of Hunter Biden receiving a pardon from his father.

“Let that white man fight his own battles,” he said. “That man got a daddy who’s president. If his daddy, who can pardon him if he wanted to, is saying he’s staying out of it, we need to stay out of it too.”

Charlamagne has had a contentious relationship with Joe Biden since the 2020 presidential campaign.

In a now-infamous interview, Biden told Charlamagne that black voters who were undecided about the 2020 election “ain’t black.”

Charlamagne also clashed with Vice President Kamala Harris in an interview where he questioned who is really governing the country.

Harris, visibly frustrated, responded, “Come on, Charlamagne. C’mon, it’s Joe Biden. No. No. No. No. It’s Joe Biden. It’s Joe Biden and don’t start talking like a Republican about asking whether or not he’s president.”

Former Harris spokesperson Symone Sanders attempted to intervene, falsely claiming there was an audio disruption.

Hillary Clinton Shocks with Endorsement Against This Embattled ‘Squad’ Member

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has made a surprising endorsement against a member of the radical leftist “Squad” in the House of Representatives.

On Wednesday, Clinton endorsed Westchester County Executive George Latimer, who is challenging Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., in the upcoming primary.

“With Trump on the ballot, we need strong, principled Democrats in Congress more than ever,” Clinton wrote on Twitter. “In Congress, @LatimerforNY will protect abortion rights, stand up to the NRA, and fight for President Biden’s agenda—just like he’s always done.”

She concluded, “Make a plan to vote by June 25th!”

Bowman, a two-term congressman, is facing a shaky re-election campaign amid growing scandals, including a misdemeanor charge for pulling a fire alarm in Congress and accusations of anti-Semitism.

As reported by the New York Post, New York State Democratic Party Chair Jay Jacobs emphasized the impact of Clinton’s endorsement.

“When Hillary says something, people listen,” Jacobs said. “She is extraordinarily popular in the Democratic Party. She’s well regarded and trusted.”

In response to the endorsement, Bowman stated, “I’m proud to be the only candidate in this race endorsed by Planned Parenthood, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and 1199 SEIU, and the only candidate who rejects right-wing special interest groups like AIPAC.”

Bowman has been criticized for his anti-Israel rhetoric, being one of the first to call for a ceasefire after Hamas invaded southern Israel on Oct. 7.

That same day Hamas carried out one of the most brutal terrorist attacks against the Jewish people.

Bowman has also refused to accept evidence that Hamas raped women in Israel on Oct. 7.

In contrast, Latimer has been a vocal supporter of Israel and has received an endorsement from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

On Wednesday, Bowman criticized AIPAC, stating, “Big money doesn’t belong in politics and it doesn’t belong in our communities. It’s time we #RejectAIPAC. #NY1Debate.”

On Oct. 26, 2023, Bowman faced a misdemeanor charge for pulling a false fire alarm in a reckless attempt to block Congress from passing a government funding bill.

He pleaded guilty in a sweetheart deal with Washington, D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb, who agreed to drop the charges.

The House of Representatives has since censured Bowman for the fire alarm incident.

Biden Doesn’t Rule Out Commuting Convicted Felon Son’s Sentence

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Joe Biden has ruled out a potential pardon for his newly convicted son, Hunter Biden. However, the White House remains silent on the possibility of a commutation.

During an interview aboard Air Force One, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did not explicitly state that Joe Biden would not commute Hunter Biden’s sentence.

In a lengthy and unclear response, Jean-Pierre said, “What I’m saying is that the president… I have not spoken to the president about this—and what I’m saying is he was asked about a pardon. He was asked… uhm… he was asked about the trial specifically and he answered it very clearly very forthright. As you know the sentencing hasn’t been scheduled yet.”

In the same response, she further added, “I just don’t have anything beyond what the president said. He’s been very clear about this.”

Jean-Pierre’s comments came after Hunter Biden was found guilty of lying about his drug abuse on a federal form for a gun purchase. He now faces up to 25 years in federal prison.

Previously, Joe Biden stated that he would accept the verdict and would not pardon his son. “Hunter’s resilience in the face of adversity and the strength he has brought to his recovery are inspiring to us,” Biden claimed.

“A lot of families have loved ones who have overcome addiction and know what we mean, As the president, I don’t and won’t comment on pending federal cases, but as a dad, I have boundless love for my son, confidence in him, and respect for his strength,” he added.

Jean-Pierre herself has been asked about a pardon before. “No,” she answered when questioned about the possibility. When pressed again, she reiterated, “I just said no. I just answered.”

Only 19% of Biden Voters Say Society Benefits from Marriage, Having Kids

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) The Pew Research Center polling revealed that very few Joe Biden supporters think that prioritizing marriage and having children benefits society.

Only 19% of Biden voters said that “society is better off if people make marriage and having children a priority.” In comparison, 59% of Donald Trump supporters and 39% of registered voters overall agreed with the statement.

The results came amid a singleness and loneliness epidemic among young people and the United States continuing to experience the lowest birth rate in a century.

The survey also pointed out “modest differences” between men and women regarding whether focusing on marriage and children improves society.

“About six in ten men who support Trump (63%) say this, compared with 54% of Trump-supporting women. There is a similar gender gap among Biden supporters (22% of men vs. 16% of women),” the survey report stated.

When it came to ethnicity, black Biden voters (29%) were more likely than Asian (20%), white (17%) and Hispanic (16%) Biden supporters to agree that emphasizing marriage and family improves society.

The Pew Research also questioned the respondents about the country’s struggling fertility rate. Overall, voters were largely indifferent to the U.S.’s low birth rate, with 43% saying it is “neither good nor bad for society that people are having fewer children.” Meanwhile, more than a third (35%) said the trend is negative and 22% said having fewer children is good for society.

As expected, Trump supporters were much more likely to view the trend as negative.

“Nearly half of Trump supporters (47%), including a 56% majority of men who support Trump, say it is bad for society that people are having fewer children. Roughly four in ten women who support Trump (37%) see this trend as a bad thing,” the poll’s results stated.

Roughly half of Biden supporters said the trend is “neither good nor bad,” with 27% saying the trend is positive and only 23% saying the trend is bad for society.

China’s Top Drone Manufacturer Hires Texas Company to Avoid Bans

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) To avoid losing a 58% share of the domestic commercial drone market if the U.S. House passes Rep. Elise Stefanik’s, R–N.Y., Countering CCP Drones Act, China’s Da-Jiang Innovations Science & Technology Co. (DJI) decided to cooperate with a company in Texas as a way to avoid federal bans.

Anzu Robotics, a one-man Texas startup that coincidentally entered the market just a couple of months ago, started producing drones that are very similar to DJI’s products, with the Washington Free Beacon concluding that Anzu’s drones are nothing more than rebranded Chinese drones with an American packaging.

For a very long time, U.S. intelligence has been accusing DJI of making products that may spy on the United States by collecting and transmitting surveillance data back to the communists in China.

“[DJI is a] Chinese Military Company that is advancing technology that could one day be used against Americans,” Stefanik said while adding that her bill to ban the company is expected to pass the House this week as part of the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act.

In early 2023, DJI approached Anzu’s founder, Randall Warnas, with an offer to Americanize its drones to bypass congressional scrutiny and make them more palatable for sale in the American market, the news source reported.

The company modified DJI’s software to ensure no data is sent to Chinese servers and instead goes to servers in Virginia, Warnas said, adding that he also contracted with a third-party penetration tester to ensure customer data stays in the United States.

Even though Warnas admitted there are still some unknown variables that remain in the software Anzu has licensed from DJI, he said that Stefanik and other politicians who are concerned about the Chinese Communist Party spying on us are just paranoid.

However, Stefanik isn’t buying it, saying that Anzu is a DJI “shell company” that the Chinese company is using in a “desperate attempt to evade their inclusion onto the FCC’s Covered List,” the politician told the Beacon.

“DJI and all its subsidiaries and affiliates have been put on notice. House Republicans will not allow a Communist Chinese Military Company unfettered access to spy on Americans,” she said.

Deranged Lunatic Released from Jail Before Stabbing, Murdering Toddler

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) It was revealed that a deranged woman who stabbed a three-year-old boy to death outside an Ohio supermarket was released from jail three days before the murderous attack.

A 32-year-old Bionca Ellis was arrested after she stabbed Julian Wood to death with a kitchen knife at a Giant Eagle grocery store in North Olmsted on June 3, 2024, in what police officers described as a “random act of violence,” the New York Post reported.

It was later discovered that Ellis was arrested by police officers just days earlier, on May 29, 2024, because she stole $69 worth of merchandise from Walmart. After it became unclear if she was paying attention or falling asleep during the proceedings, a Rocky River Municipal Court magistrate ordered Ellis to undergo a psychiatric check.

Despite that, on May 31, 2024, Judge Brian Hagan released Ellis from jail.

“There weren’t any red flags shooting up that pole. There weren’t any indications here. No sign of mental distress. No sign of previous, violent acts,” Hagan said.

Ellis is now being held on a $5 million bond after stabbing the toddler to death while he sat in a shopping cart and wounding his 38-year-old mother, Margot Wood, after following them into the parking lot.

She charged at them with a knife when the mother was about to load her groceries into her car. The boy was stabbed twice in an attack that lasted less than five seconds.

The toddler’s mother was knifed in the shoulder after trying to pull her son from the cart during the attack.

The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Ellis smirked while she was being charged with murder and attempted murder, giggling and replying “Si” when the judge asked if she was going to plead not guilty.

After the attack, the corrupt judge doubled down on his previous decision to release Ellis.

“I’m confident in the way this court handled the matter. We did it by the letter of the law. There was nothing there to send up the alarms,” he said.
