Protests Erupt After Murder of Henry Nowak by Sikh Man

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The death of an 18-year-old British student at the hands of a Sikh man — and his subsequent treatment by police — has sparked widespread protests and outrage across social media, particularly among critics who say the case exemplifies Britain’s two-tier system.

At the center of the outrage is the murder of Henry Nowak, a university student and beloved football player who was viciously stabbed by Vickrum Digwa during an altercation on Dec. 3, 2025.

When police arrived, Nowak was handcuffed and dragged across the pavement while pleading for help and telling officers he could not breathe.

Digwa, meanwhile, falsely claimed that Nowak had used racial slurs and assaulted him. No evidence was ever produced to support those allegations.

According to the BBC, Digwa was carrying a kirpan, a sword exempt from Britain’s strict knife laws under a religious exemption for Sikhs. He used the same blade to stab Nowak. His father and brother are also facing separate weapons charges.

Subsequent investigations led to murder charges against Digwa, who was sentenced to life imprisonment on May 28.

Nowak’s night began when he entered an elevator to leave his dorm. Security footage showed him dressed in a blazer, tie and white button-down shirt while carrying what appeared to be a bottle of wine.

Other security footage showed Nowak entering a liquor store and later a pub before making his way home. Court proceedings later revealed that he was not intoxicated.

Nowak encountered Digwa, who was carrying two knives, including a kirpan, while heading home.

According to police, Nowak recorded Digwa after the two encountered one another on a dark street.

“Are you a bad man?” Nowak asked.

“I am a bad man,” Digwa replied.

Digwa appeared to take Nowak’s phone before stabbing him as he attempted to get it back. Digwa stabbed Nowak five times, including a fatal wound to the chest.

When police arrived, they moved to arrest Nowak on Digwa’s claims that he had hurled racist remarks.

Officers handcuffed Nowak even as he repeatedly told them he had been stabbed and begged for help.

Nowak died in handcuffs while officers read him his rights. At no point during the exchange was Digwa arrested.

According to The Telegraph, Digwa’s father, Moga Singh, and brother, Gurpreet Digwa, were later found with an air gun, a flick knife, knuckledusters, a machete, swords, kusaris and a baton, a day after Nowak died.

His mother, Kiran Kaur, was also convicted of assisting an offender after helping conceal the knife used in the killing.

Hundreds of upset Britons have since taken to the streets to protest Nowak’s treatment by police, with several elected officials questioning why Digwa was not arrested on the night of the killing.

Other critics have pointed to the generous exemption for the traditional Sikh ceremonial blade, while protesters have targeted the officers behind Nowak’s arrest.

Biden’s announcement comes as Democrats grow increasingly frustrated that the Bidens continue reopening wounds from the 2024 election.

Jill was at a Q&A with moderator Whoopi Goldberg when Joe suddenly stood up from his seat and said, “I have a question.”

“Joe has a question, like you couldn’t ask it later?” Jill replied, according to the New York Post.

“Who do you love most in the whole world?” Joe asked.

“Whoopi,” Jill answered.

After a short exchange, Goldberg urged attendees to buy Jill’s book, prompting Joe to mention his own upcoming memoir.

“My book… My book, which comes out in September, read it!” Joe said.

Jill appeared to joke that the event was supposed to be about her book, asking: “Do I have to remind him that this is my event?”

The announcement comes as Jill has drawn backlash from some Democrats over her newly published memoir, View from the East Wing.

In the book, Jill revealed that she feared her husband had suffered a stroke during his disastrous debate performance against then-candidate Donald Trump.

At the time, however, Jill publicly insisted that Joe remained healthy and that, despite all the evidence, he was fit to serve another four years as president.

Jill also suggested that then-Vice President Kamala Harris effectively forced Joe into endorsing her after he withdrew from the race following the debate.

Released on June 2, the former first lady’s book has an average three-star rating on Amazon, with many reviewers accusing Jill of being a “liar.”

(José Niño, Headline USA) President Donald Trump signed an executive order on May 19, 2026 that aims to weaponize the American banking system against illegal immigration. The order, titled “Restoring Integrity to America’s Financial System,” directs Treasury and federal financial regulators to implement a series of measures designed to make it financially untenable for illegal immigrants to remain in the country.

The executive order does not immediately shut down anyone’s bank accounts. Instead, it triggers a regulatory process with specific deadlines. Within 60 days, the Treasury Secretary must issue a formal advisory to financial institutions identifying “red flags” for suspicious activity tied to immigration, including use of Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers to open accounts, off-the-books wage payments, and payroll tax evasion schemes, per a report by global legal services provider Mayer Brown. 

Within the same 60-day window, federal bank regulators must issue credit risk guidance incorporating deportation risk as a factor affecting a borrower’s ability to repay loans. According to the American Banker, within 90 days, the  Treasury must propose changes to Bank Secrecy Act suspicious activity reporting rules. Within 180 days, Treasury and regulators must consider amending customer identification rules to account for risks posed by foreign consular identification cards. 

Separately, the order authorizes financial institutions to probe whether account holders have lawful immigration status as part of a risk-based due diligence program. The order also directs the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to consider clarifying that “potential deportation and loss of wages are factors that could adversely affect a non-work authorized borrower’s ability to repay,” per the Federal Register. 

Trump went further in his June 2 Truth Social post, declaring “Bank Accounts being used to enable Illegal Immigration, or to store the Welfare received by Illegal Aliens, will be shut down, and funds will ultimately face Impoundment and Seizure so they can be returned to Taxpayers.”

‘Patriot Front’ Infiltrator Leaks the Group’s Membership Details

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Someone has apparently infiltrated the white nationalist group Patriot Front and leaked its membership details.

USA Today reported Wednesday that “a source inside Patriot Front” provided the newspaper with a 72-page member roster and obtained documents. Those records reportedly reveal that Patriot Front has more than 540 members covering every state except Hawaii, more than half of its members have joined over the last two years, and that it’s becoming increasingly tied to “active clubs”—local groups that promote healthy living and martial arts training.

Patriot Front leader Thomas Rousseau wants to increase the group’s membership to 600 by July 4, the documents reportedly show.

“This is a picked band of dedicated men that far exceeds any of our domestic contemporaries,” Rousseau says, according to the documents. “These teams need dedicated members. Men willing to work for the cause and not just fight for it.”

USA Today did not publish the documents, nor did it name any of the members on the group’s roster. The newspaper also said it’s withholding its sources name to protect his identity.

This isn’t the first time Patriot Front has been infiltrated.

In July 2021, David Capito, a left-wing activist who apparently changed his name to Vyacheslav Arkadyevich Arkhangelskiy, joined the group under the false name “Vincent Washington.” Later that hear, Capito allegedly worked with left-wing hackers to download a trove of internal Patriot Front communications, videos and other records. The data appeared on the left-wing site Unicorn Riot.

As a result of the public doxxing, some Patriot Front plaintiffs lost their jobs. Five members—Paul Gancarz, Daniel Turetchi, Colton Brown, James Johnson and his wife, Amelia Johnson—sued Capito in 2023. However, the lawsuit was unsuccessful.

Additionally, the Patriot Front has been infiltrated by an untold amount of FBI informants, according to FBI records. For instance, For instance, in February 2019 an informant provided information about the Patriot Front to the FBI’s office in Charlotte.

“On February 11, 2019, FBI Charlotte received Confidential Human Source (CHS) reporting from [REDACTED] Division regarding [REDACTED],” an FBI memo says.

More recently, earlier this year two neo-Nazis were arrested and accused of wanting to kill a Patriot Front member for being a snitch. It’s unclear whether the Nazis were correct in their suspicion. Their case is pending.

The Patriot Front has never been implicated in any federal crimes has a group, but some of its members have.

Suspect Who Took 10 People Hostage in California Standoff Shot and Killed

(Headline USA)  A man was shot and killed by the FBI early Wednesday after holding 10 school employees hostage, including some who were tied up, and warning he had strapped explosives to himself and some of the hostages inside a Southern California office building, police said.

Authorities stormed the building in downtown Bakersfield and shot the suspect, ending a more than 15-hour standoff, police said.

The hostages — employees of the Kern County Superintendent of Schools — were found unharmed inside the building that also houses a bank, said Bakersfield Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Blakemore.

“Throughout the night their families questioned whether or not they would be seen again but we are very grateful for the outcome,” Blakemore said during a news conference Wednesday.

Anthony Scott Searles-Harris, 41, was shot and killed around 4:20 a.m., according to Sid Patel, special agent in charge in the FBI’s Sacramento office. Authorities said he was an Army veteran who was dishonorably discharged, had a history of trouble with law enforcement and was a registered sex offender.

Searles-Harris told police he had a bomb after barricading himself within the second floor of the building and taking the hostages, Blakemore said.

“He had concerns related to how his previous case had been handled and what the aftermath of that was, the sentencing and those kinds of things,” Blakemore said.

Authorities were testing the devices that Searles-Harris said were bombs, but Patel said they do not appear to be a concern.

FBI officials said Searles-Harris served about a year in the Army before being dishonorably discharged for going AWOL.

California Department of Justice and court records show Searles-Harris was on the state’s sex offender registry due to convictions in 2014 for sexual crimes related to a child under 14 years of age. Those records show he was released from prison in 2018.

While authorities declined to discuss a motive in the standoff, Blakemore said some of the demands Searles-Harris made involved asking for materials from his previous case.

Court records in Kern County, California, show Searles-Harris filed a petition to prevent domestic violence, and was involved in divorce proceedings that note a young child as well as a fight for guardianship in which he was listed as an objector.

The standoff began early Tuesday afternoon, when officers responded to a call of a bomb threat at the Chase Bank building, a four-story office building with dark-tinted glass windows, in the city of about 380,000 residents about 100 miles (160 kms) northeast of Los Angeles.

The police department’s crisis negotiation team talked with Searles-Harris by phone and he released two hostages Tuesday night.

Buildings nearby, including City Hall and the police headquarters that are just a block away, were evacuated and some roads were closed during the hostage situation. Officers established a perimeter around the area and warned the public to stay away.

Jacob Davidson, a livestreamer known as Dad’s Gone Live, was at his family’s tattoo shop a block from the bank building when he started receiving calls about the bomb threat.

“I went into the bank’s parking garage and watched the cops enter the back of the bank. This is the biggest police presence I’ve ever seen in this town,” Davidson said.

His livestream captured through a window in the building a woman rocking back and forth Tuesday night before crouching below the window. Later, two hands could be seen waving.

(Headline USA)  Mole people? Crocodile catchers? Mario brothers? A series of bizarre sightings of people popping in and out of New York City’s vast subterranean sewer system has the city wondering what exactly is going on, with police now probing the underground mystery.

Security cameras have recorded at least three nighttime instances where groups of people entered or exited sewer tunnels via maintenance holes on streets in Brooklyn and Queens.

In one video, taken early Friday morning in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, a group of roughly seven people were recorded popping out of a maintenance hole in the middle of an intersection, in full view of passing cars.

Some wore headlamps and carried what appeared to be shovels and other tools. One narrowly missed getting run over by a vehicle as they pulled themselves out of the ground.

In another video, a group of about seven people could be seen emerging from a maintenance hole around 2 a.m. on a quiet street in Brooklyn’s Gravesend neighborhood. They made their way to a couple of parked cars and pulled out fresh clothes to change into. Police say the group entered the sewers about 11 p.m., meaning they could have been underground for three hours.

On May 5, three people dressed in waterproof hip waders and other protective gear pried open a maintenance hole cover and descended into the sewer on a street in Queens. The last person pulled the cover shut as approaching cars slowed to a stop.

Aki Jakupovic, the owner of an auto detailing shop, said his shop’s surveillance cameras recorded that group of sewer spelunkers. He said he couldn’t venture a guess as to what the people did below ground but worried they were “up to no good.”

The city Department of Environmental Protection said it inspected the sewers at both Brooklyn locations and verified the sewer infrastructure wasn’t damaged. The incident in Queens is still under investigation, the agency said.

Rob Wolejsza, the department’s spokesperson, stressed that entering the sewers is not only illegal but “extremely dangerous.”

“Sewers can contain numerous hazards, including noxious and potentially deadly gases, unstable surfaces, flooding risks, and confined spaces,” Wolejsza said in a statement. “For these reasons, members of the public should never enter a pipe, drain, catch basin, manhole, or outfall.”

Last month, a woman fell into an open maintenance hole on a busy street in midtown Manhattan and died. Utility officials said the hole cover had been dislodged by a truck.

Police, meanwhile, said they don’t believe there’s any threat to public safety after conducting a thorough sweep of the areas. There have been no reports of injuries and no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing, the department said.

On Tuesday, at the busy intersection in Williamsburg where the second group was spotted, resident Anthony Purdie said he isn’t convinced it was simple curiosity that drew the group to explore the sewers in the cover of night.

“They look like they were looking for something important, like money, or for doing some type of hurting,” he said. “Ain’t no fun and games. I mean, seven grown adults going down there? Got to be something, man.”

Hidden NDAA Provision Would Fuse US-Israeli Militaries

(José Niño, Headline USA) Congress just proposed tying the United States military to Israel’s armed forces more closely than ever before, Responsible Statecraft reported.

Buried inside the House version of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act released Tuesday is Section 224, titled “United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative.” Ben Freeman of Responsible Statecraft contends this provision would do more to merge the two militaries than the more than $200 billion in inflation adjusted military assistance Israel has received from America since 1948.

The section creates a framework for bilateral research and development, weapons co-production, joint ventures, licensing agreements, and virtually every type of military industrial cooperation conceivable. Although the two countries already partner extensively on missile defense, this provision would dramatically broaden coordination into AI, quantum computing, autonomous systems, directed energy, cyber, biotech, and numerous other fields. It additionally proposes “network integration” and “data fusion,” meaning US military data could soon become Israeli military data.

If fully enacted, this proposal would establish a higher level of military industrial integration than America maintains with any other nation on Earth. The United States works closely with NATO partners on co-production and shared supply chains through the Defence Production Action Plan, and as the world’s top arms dealer it supplies weapons globally. 

Section 224 constitutes something completely different. It would merge American and Israeli defense sectors across multiple domains critical to future warfare. It would also magnify Israeli influence beyond the existing Israel lobby and its network of paid social media influencers that Responsible Statecraft previously revealed. By expanding co-production facilities like those already operating in Mississippi and Arkansas, Israel could secure Congressional allies by delivering jobs in their districts.

The shift carries disturbing implications. As a recent Quincy Institute brief authored by Steven Simon explains, this move from aid to integration will “strip away the political and diplomatic oversight mechanisms that make the relationship publicly accountable, moving it from a visible annual aid vote into the opaque machinery of defense acquisition, where oversight is limited and political accountability is minimal.”

This development comes as Israel has repeatedly used US weapons in strikes that violated international humanitarian law in Gaza, per reports by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and PBS. A New York Times/Siena poll found just 30 percent believe Trump made “the right decision” to go to war with Iran. An Institute for Global Affairs poll found only 16 percent back unconditional weapons supplies to Israel, while 38 percent want to halt weapons entirely.

Senator Chris Van Hollen wrote in the New York Times that “The Democratic Party has provided reflexive and unconditional support to Israeli governments, even as their actions have increasingly undermined American interests and values.”

Store Owner Found Not Guilty of Murdering Gun-Wielding Teen

(Headline USA) A South Carolina jury on Monday found a store owner not guilty of murder in the 2023 shooting of a Black 14-year-old, who allegedly threatened the owner’s son with a firearm.

The jury returned the verdict for Chikei Rick Chow. Chow, 61, who is Asian, shot Cyrus Carmack-Belton in the back after chasing him from his convenience store in Columbia. He maintained he acted to defend his son.

After the verdict was read, sobs and cries of distress could be heard coming from Carmack-Belton’s family seated in the gallery. Chow sat silently frozen before slowly bowing his head onto his interlocked hands.

Defense lawyer Jack Swerling said they’re very pleased with the verdict but also feel for Carmack-Belton’s family.

“My heart goes out to them, but 14-year-old kid should not be roaming the streets of Columbia or South Carolina with semiautomatic pistol loaded and ready to fire,” he said.

Todd Rutherford, an attorney and representative in the South Carolina Legislature, stood next to Carmack-Belton’s father as he told reporters that they don’t agree with the verdict.

Rutherford announced they will pursue a civil lawsuit.

Prosecutors and a defense lawyer in closing arguments painted different pictures of the 2023 shooting. Prosecutors said Chow acted in anger because he wrongly thought the teen had stolen four bottles of water from the store. A defense lawyer said Chow fired to defend his son only after the teen pointed a gun at him.

“This case is not about a shoplifter. This case is about a father who sees a gun pointed at his son and had to make a decision,” defense attorney Shaun Kent told jurors during closing arguments, noting that Andy Chow testified Carmack-Belton pointed a gun at him.

Prosecutors acknowledged Carmack-Belton had a semiautomatic pistol, but they say it fell on the ground during the chase, and he never threatened anyone with it. Prosecutors said Chow chased the teen more than 130 yards from the store.

Gipson told jurors that Chow “chased a kid down, shot him in the back.”

During closing arguments, Gipson placed a bottle of water before jurors. Gipson said Chow “at the end of the day, believed that a human is not more than that.”

Gipson said multiple witnesses testified that they didn’t see anything in Carmack-Belton’s hands and didn’t see him point a gun as he ran from the store.

“Nobody testified that happened that doesn’t have the last name Chow,” Gipson said.

The fatal shooting prompted vigils and protests outside the store. Empty water bottles were arranged to spell out “Cyrus” at one 2023 vigil.

(Headline USA) A prediction market reported former U.S. Rep. George Santos to federal prosecutors after he boasted he’d be going to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, then bet against his own attendance, according to the Associated Press.

Kalshi, the online prediction marketplace, referred Santos to the Department of Justice after detecting suspicious trades made by him ahead of Trump’s Feb. 24 speech, the person said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Kalshi also reported the trades to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a federal regulatory body that has vowed to crack down on insider trading in prediction marketplaces.

The Justice Department and the CFTC didn’t immediately respond Tuesday to inquiries from the AP.

Santos also did not respond to text messages or phone calls.

The referral was first reported by NPR. Santos told NPR that he wasn’t aware of the investigation. He declined to say whether he had a Kalshi account.

“I’m not saying yes, I’m not saying no,” Santos told NPR.

The convicted ex-congressman had repeatedly discussed his intention to attend the State of the Union, which came just four months after he was granted clemency by Trump in a fraud case that led to his expulsion from the U.S. House.

On the eve of Trump’s speech, Kalshi put the odds of Santos attending at close to 75%.

Then, minutes into the speech, Santos posted on X that he had been waylaid at the airport. Immediately, several social media users accused him of running another scheme.

“Santos talking to his accountant and telling him to open his Kalshi account and bet all his money on No,” one user wrote, alongside a meme of Al Pacino counting money in the movie Scarface.

In March, Santos addressed the complaints on his podcast.

“I guess people lost money,” he said. “Some people made unexpected money. That’s to show you how fragile these markets are.”

Santos, who won office as a Republican after inventing a bogus persona as a Wall Street dealmaker, was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud and identity theft in 2024.

After serving just 84 days, he was ordered released by Trump, who called Santos a “rogue” but said he didn’t deserve a harsh sentence and should get credit for voting Republican.

Prediction markets, including Kalshi and its chief rival Polymarket, have drawn scrutiny as their businesses have expanded — with some lawmakers urging the platforms to do more to guard against insider trading.

Both companies have said they are reporting suspicious trades to federal regulators. Some investigations have led to criminal charges. In April a soldier involved in the military operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was charged with using classified information to win more than $400,000 predicting the date of his capture on Polymarket.

In April, the Senate approved a bipartisan resolution to prevent its own members from using prediction markets.

House To Vote This Week on Bill To End Support for Israel’s War on Lebanon

(Dave DeCamp, Antiwar.com) The House is expected to vote this week on a War Powers Resolution to end US support for Israel’s war in Lebanon, which has been a major impediment to ending the US-Israeli war against Iran.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), would end any US participation in the war that hasn’t been authorized by Congress, which would apply to US intelligence sharing and other coordination regarding Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon and its attacks across the country.

‘According to Just Foreign Policy, a memo from Tlaib’s office said that the Trump administration is violating the 1973 War Powers Act by personally approving and rejecting specific Israeli military operations in Lebanon, and US forces have been sharing intelligence used in military attacks and coordinating with the Israeli military throughout their war effort.

Americans can click here to tell their House representatives to support the bill to end US involvement in the war, which has killed more than 3,400 Lebanese, including many civilians, since early March. The vote could happen on Thursday, but that is not confirmed and is subject to change.

“Over 3,000 killed. This mass murder must end. The US is not a bystander in the Israeli military’s brutal invasion of Lebanon — it is an active participant,” Tlaib wrote on X on May 22. “I will force a vote in Congress to immediately end all US participation in this illegal and immoral war on Lebanon.”

The House will also vote this week on a War Powers Resolution to bring an end to President Donald Trump’s war with Iran as the US and Iran continue to exchange fire, and the US is enforcing a blockade despite a nominal ceasefire that is supposed to be in place. House Republicans blocked a vote on the Iran measure before Congress went on its Memorial Day recess, when it became clear they didn’t have enough votes to stop it from passing.
