(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Democrats have announced a “Defcon-1” moment as conservatives launch their first Spanish-language network, NBC reported.
DEFCON-1? Are you kidding me?

The phrase, which refers to the US military’s stage of maximum alert and readiness due to an impending attack, began trending on Twitter as a result, according to Twitchy.
The country’s national defense apparatus has never entered into Decon-1 since the creation of the alert system in 1959. But the same cannot be said of its leftist news media.
Conservative station Americano hosted planned to host its initial launch via SiriusXM radio, then on streaming platforms in the summer of 2022.
The network, which reportedly has close ties to former President Donald Trump, will offer a mix of news reporting and political commentary.
Threatened by the competition, leftists in the mainstream media immediately decried the station as a fountain of misinformation before the release of its first broadcast.
Ivan Garcia–Hidalgo, Americano’s founder and CEO, made a statement against these claims and accused Democrats of attempted cancellation.
“They’re scared. And they should be,” he said.
“Democrats took Hispanics for granted for too long, and no one thought to create a home for us in conservative media,” he continued. “There is an appetite for this. You see it on social media. You see it in elections.”
In the 2020 election, Trump earned ground in the Hispanic community with his anti-socialist policies and support for blue-collar workers and business.
Many Hispanics and Latinos—particularly those located near the southern border—also supported Trump’s strong stance on enforcing the nation’s immigration laws, noting that their own cultures and communities were disproportionately harmed by the influx of drugs, gang-violence and human-trafficking that the Biden administration’s open-borders polices have enabled.
However, Democrats claimed that the political migration toward Trump was due to widespread disinformation in the months leading up to the election.
“For those concerned about the disinformation problem harming Democrats’ chances with Hispanics, this is a Defcon 1 moment,” said Fernand Amandi, an Obama-era pollster who has assisted the Democrats with Hispanic outreach in the past.
Other Democrats have spoken against the right-leaning enthusiasm in the Hispanic community, even coming from other South American countries.
Americano’s chief investment officer, Thomas Woolston, said he’s certain the network will be a huge commercial and cultural success.
“Spanish-language conservative media is a completely open space,” Woolston said. “For the first mover, it’s going to be a real advantage.”
It is estimated that 41 million Spanish speakers live in the U.S, and, according to a consultant, Americano is targeting an audience of at least 10 million viewers and listeners.
