Military Leader Admits Biden’s Russia ‘Deterrence’ Strategy a Failure

'In the months leading up to February 24, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, did you consider it part of your mission to deter a Russian invasion of Ukraine... '

(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) General Tod Wolters, who leads the US European Command, said he “cannot argue” with the “conclusion” that President Joe Biden’s strategy to deter Russian forces from invading Ukraine “failed.”

Wolters testified on March 30 before the House Armed Services Committee, and his striking answer about the Biden administration’s failed deterrence policies came when Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wisc., questioned him, reported the Western Journal. Gallagher’s questions begin at 1:33:00 in the video.

“In the months leading up to February 24, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, did you consider it part of your mission to deter a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Gallagher asked.

Wolters answered “yes,” adding that he aimed at “improving our NATO security disposition in all regions and in all domains, not just isolated on the periphery and inside of Ukraine.”

“Would it be fair to say that deterrence failed in Ukraine,” Gallagher pressed.

“Number one I would say that NATO’s solidarity remained, and NATO’s ability to effectively deter remained,” Wolters responded, seemingly trying to deflect the question, but then he added, “and I can’t argue with your conclusion.”
