House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., warned Americans that Democrats were plotting to empower the IRS spy on Americans’ finances as part of their $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Act, according to a post on Parler.
McCarthy said a stealthily hidden provision in the bill would effectively institute a new surveillance program through the tax-collection agency—one that would particularly harm the middle and lower classes.
“I want to tell you about a little-known provision that Democrats snuck into their multi-trillion dollar socialist spending scam,” McCarthy wrote. “While they grandstand about ‘taxing the rich,’ they’ve created a new IRS surveillance program designed to target low and middle-income earners—especially if you rely on tips to make your living.”
In response to the new program, some banks have banded together, recognizing the long-term effects of Joe Biden‘s radical agenda.
Despite increasing likelihood that the bill will fail, with several centrist Democrats refusing to back it in the narrowly divided House and Senate, it appears that Democrats will push forward with the bill, using the budget reconciliation process to do so without any bipartisan consensus.
Among Republicans’ litany of criticisms with the spending spree, McCarthy said the inclusion of the spy program indicated a radical mistrust of the people.
“President Biden wants to hire thousands of new IRS bureaucrats and give them the authority to snoop into your bank account to monitor every single transaction you make,” he wrote. “No warrants. No permission. No limits.”
McCarthy also emphasized the disproportionate effect that the bill would have on families, were it to pass.
“Democrats want to track every penny you earn so they can then tax you and your family at the maximum possible amount,” he said.
“This surveillance program crosses a line,” he continued. “It’s un-American. And Republicans will do everything possible to stop it before it ever gets off the ground.”
