(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) The illegal immigrants who arrived in Chicago earlier this month from Texas, and were promptly shipped out of the alleged sanctuary city by intolerant Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot, probably feel fortunate to have escaped with their lives and limbs intact.
The same can’t be said for Chicago residents who are falling victim to the city’s wave of violent crime that has resulted from Lightfoot’s leftist policies. The weekend brought another horrific spree of chaos, when nearly 60 people were shot, claiming nine murders and multiple casualties.
The mayhem unfurled with bullets flying so fast and furious that the local media had difficulty keeping pace, according to Breitbart. A particularly concentrated burst of violence erupted Sunday afternoon, when “Five men were injured and two killed during two separate shootings … that happened just minutes apart,” reported CBS News.
Among the mass of casualties from the weekend, a 10-year-old boy was shot and wounded as he walked down the street with his father. A 3-year-old girl was sitting in the backseat of a car and was showered with shattered glass when the vehicle was sprayed with gunfire. On Saturday, a 25-year-old male was shot while driving his car. He was able to drive himself to the hospital, where he died.
Chicago’s crime epidemic continues as seven children were shot in separate incidents, including a 3-year-old shot at home while sleeping. Chicago now leads the nation with 38 mass shootings, meaning 4 or more shot at one time. Meanwhile, silence from Lightfoot & Supt. Brown.

This past weekend’s violence followed the deadly shootings from the previous week, when a mass shooting at Chicago’s Washington Park left two dad and seven wounded, according to WGN Chicago. That was preceded by another mass shooting in August.
“The gunfire, the murders, the mayhem in Chicago doesn’t have to be the norm,” Republican candidate for Illinois governor Darren Bailey said at the time, and laid blame for the crime crisis on Lightfoot and incumbent Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker.
Chicago has been hit with more than 500 homicides this year, WGN reported. Accompanying the murders, crime is up across the board. Robberies are up 18%, burglaries increased 28%, thefts are up 65% and car theft is up 66%.
Bailey has said one of his first acts as governor would be to scrap the disastrous SAFE-T Act, which both Lightfoot and Pritzker have embraced.
The legislation, among other serious flaws, abolishes cash bail for almost every criminal offense. That includes kidnapping, armed robbery, second degree murder, drug induced homicide, aggravated DUI, threatening a public official and aggravated fleeing and eluding.
“JB Pritzker, Lori Lightfoot and [state’s attorney] Kim Foxx are personally responsible for this,” Bailey said.
“Soon all of Illinois will look like Chicago, like a scene from a horror film come to life.”
