Jim Jordan: ‘Votes Are There’ to Oust Liz Cheney from Leadership ‘Next Wednesday’

'Warmonger Liz Cheney, who has virtually no support left in the Great State of Wyoming, continues to unknowingly and foolishly say that there was no Election Fraud...'

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said on Wednesday that the Republican congressional caucus has the votes to remove Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo, from her role as House Republican Conference Chair, the New York Post reported.

On Fox News Primetime, Jordan, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, said “the votes are there” and that the vote “will happen, most likely, next Wednesday.”

“She definitely needs to go,” he said, arguing that the Republican Party must become a “pro-America, populist party rooted in conservative principle with Donald Trump as our leader.”

Former president Donald Trump and his supporters have mounted an effort to push Cheney out of her No. 3 position among House Republicans because she voted to impeach Trump and opposed many of his policies, especially regarding foreign military intervention.

Trump has signaled in a series of statements that he hopes that a worthy Republican will remove her from the House altogether in the 2022 midterm elections.

“Warmonger Liz Cheney, who has virtually no support left in the Great State of Wyoming, continues to unknowingly and foolishly say that there was no Election Fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election when in fact, the evidence, including no Legislative approvals as demanded by the U.S. Constitution, shows the exact opposite,” Trump wrote on Wednesday.

The Republican caucus initially rejected Trump’s criticism of Cheney, voting in February to keep her as conference chair.

But Cheney has continued to vocally oppose Trump and, perhaps more importantly, the movement to restore election integrity after the illegal and unconstitutional 2020 presidential election.

Following her Democratic colleagues, Cheney said Republicans must abandon the “dangerous and anti-democratic Trump cult of personality.”

She has denounced efforts to audit the presidential election and to ensure that Democrats do not unilaterally change election rules prior to the next election.

The tide shifted against her on Tuesday when House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said that he has “had it with her” on a hot mic.

“In the run-up to the election, she was against the president on his Afghanistan policy, on his Syria policy,” Jordan said.

“She spoke against him on the Russian bounty issue, which we all know was a complete hoax,” he continued. “So it’s a consistent pattern, and finally it just became so much and for so long that our conference says, ‘We’ve got to make a change,’ and I believe that’s going to happen very soon.”
