(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Elon Musk confirmed on Wednesday what many have long suspected, that Twitter has interfered with elections, specifically the notorious 2020 presidential tilt that saw widespread suppression of speech and censorship of content supportive of former President Donald Trump and the promotion of narratives supporting then-challenger Joe Biden.
Musk’s pronouncement came after Reuters had published an article where Yoel Roth, a former Twitter head of trust and safety, claimed that the social media platform was not safer under Musk. People on Twitter criticized Roth’s remarks.
“Twitter has shown itself to be not safe for the past 10 years and has lost users’ trust. The past team of ‘trust and safety’ is a disgrace, so it doesn’t have any right to judge what is being done now,” one observer tweeted. “They had a chance, but they sold their souls to a corporation.”
Musk agreed.
“Exactly. The obvious reality, as long-time users know, is that Twitter has failed in trust & safety for a very long time and has interfered in elections,” he wrote. “Twitter 2.0 will be far more effective, transparent and even-handed.”

A few days ago Musk made an announcement regarding the suppression of free speech.
“The Twitter Files on free speech suppression soon to be published on Twitter itself. The public deserves to know what really happened…”
In 2020, Twitter, among other Big Tech platforms, suppressed and censored the New York Post’s bombshell report about the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop right before the 2020 general presidential elections. According to the Post Millennial, many voters said that they wouldn’t vote for Joe Biden if they read the Post’s story.
Only after two years, when it was safe, the leftist media admitted that the “laptop from hell” story was not Russian disinformation. Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also acknowledged in front of Congress that the suppression of the story was wrong.
In an interview with journalist Kara Swisher, Roth, the former Twitter head of alleged “trust and safety,” also admitted that censoring the story that exposed the corruption of the Biden family was the wrong thing to do, according to the Daily Mail.
“We didn’t know what to believe, we didn’t know what was true, there was smoke—and ultimately for me, it didn’t reach a place where I was comfortable removing this content from Twitter,” he said.
However, past Roth’s tweets showed that the decision to censor the Post was not because “there was smoke” but because Twitter employees, Roth included, were leftists who hated conservatives.
“I’m just saying, we fly over those states that voted for a racist tangerine for a reason,” he wrote in one of his now-deleted tweets.
