(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Special counsel John Durham’s prosecution team rested its case Wednesday with more damning evidence that lawyer Michael Sussmann was colluding with the Clinton 2016 presidential campaign and lied to the FBI regarding a bogus story about then-candidate Donald Trump’s ties to a Russian bank and Kremlin associates.
Prosecutors said that records from Perkins Coie, the lawfare firm tied to Clinton’s 2016 campaign, proved that “Hillary for America” was billed for the meeting Sussmann held with the FBI in September, 2016, leading up to the presidential election, Fox News reported.
The Clinton campaign is listed as the client, which was charged upwards of $800 per hour, for the 3.3 hours that Sussmann spent on “work and communications regarding confidential project.” The date on the bill, Sept. 19, 2016, matches the date Sussmann met with the FBI.
Prosecutors also presented evidence that they said show a Perkins Coie expense report included items — flash drives similar to the ones Sussmann gave the FBI — billed to the Clinton campaign as the client.
Sussmann is accused of lying to the FBI about his role as the Clinton bagman paid to deliver a totally debunked Russia hoax story to federal agents.
Previous testimony in the trail dropped explosive evidence that directly tied Hillary Clinton to the Russia hoax smear campaign, which she authorized.

Sussmann’s attorney, Michael Bosworth, on Wednesday tried to explain away the damaging billing records. The bill, he said, only shows “work and communication regarding confidential project.”
“There’s no reference to the FBI in that entry is there?”Bosworth asked Kori Arsenault, a paralegal for the prosecution.
“There is not,” Arsenault answered.
Not that it mattered; the prosecution rested its case by reading evidence of Sussmann’s own words admitting that his duplicity with the FBI was carried out “on behalf of my client.”

The defense began its case Wednesday and is expected to continue obfuscating through at least Friday. It’s not known if Sussmann will testify in his own defense.
