(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) In the midst of his presidential campaign, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis unveiled a plan to start purging the United States military of its woke administration, the Daily Wire reported.
DeSantis, who served as a Naval officer in Iraq, vowed at a recent campaign event in South Carolina that he’ll start “ripping all the woke out of the military.”
“[The U.S. military] has been infected with the woke mind virus,” said DeSantis told his audience.
According to the Republican candidate, the intrusion of woke policies into the military drive away young men who are interested in being genuine warriors rather than fitness camp employees.
“It’s creating a situation in which great warriors have been driven away and recruiting is at an all-time low post the abolition of the draft in the Vietnam conflict.”
DeSantis also pointed to some of the Navy’s woke advertisements, including a recruiting video that makes a drag queen the face of the military.
“When China sees the U.S. Navy using drag queens to recruit people, they are laughing in our face,” DeSantis said, noting that such advertisements indicate to foreign nations that America is soft and weak.
“Our enemies are whetting their appetite. You know why? Because they’re seeing America take its eye off the ball. . . We need a military that is focused on being lethal, being ready, and being capable.”
In order to address the military’s problems, DeSantis outlined several specific things that he would target were he to be elected president.
“First, we’re going to recognize this military has made mistakes in recent years,” DeSantis said, referring to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate that drove out thousands of America’s best soldiers.
He also committed himself to realigning the military with its primary objective, which is to say, winning wars, rather than advancing social inclusion and self-esteem agendas.
Lastly, the governor would focus on boosting military recruitment, which has dropped drastically in recent years as the institution turns farther and farther left.
“Rest assured, the agenda in a nutshell is this: On January 25, 2025, as Commander-In-Chief, I’m ripping all the woke out of the military and I’m getting focused on mission accomplishment,” DeSantis proclaimed.
“We need morale to go up; we need recruiting to rebound; we need to make this something that people want to join again.”
