(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) As some Democrats worry about soaring gas prices, inflation, and the general chaos of the Biden administration, others believe that the 2022 midterm elections will be easily weathered, Fox News reported.
U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., claimed that rising gas prices could harm Democrats at the polls, possibly affecting voters come November.
“I think so, and I’m hoping that we can do something to bring the prices down or put money in people’s pockets,” Bowman said. “So those are the two areas I’m focused on or hopeful that we move in that direction.”
America should “double-down and go full-steam-ahead on renewable energy,” the leftist added.
According to Bowman, fossil fuels “will literally destroy the planet and ourselves in the process.”
Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio, was less certain that Democrats will survive as easily in the midterms, touching on the damage caused by western sanctions against Russia.
“They’re painful to those in Ukraine,” Beatty said, adding that our “crippling sanctions” on Russia are “necessary.”
“To watch yesterday Russia invade a maternity ward and watch what happened with those babies is painful,” she said.
President Joe Biden, however, remains incredibly optimistic about the direction of the Democrat party, suggesting that they can come out even further ahead in the 2022 midterms.
The embattled President told the attendees of a recent speech that the Democrat Party is in the “strongest position we’ve been here in months” before blaming “the bankers on Wall Street” for the current energy crisis.
Democrats currently control the House of Representatives by only five seats.
The U.S. Senate is an even split between Democrats and Republicans.
“As long as Democrats push Biden’s failed agenda, they can expect to keep losing,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Emma Vaughn wrote in a statement.
“Democrats up and down the ballot are in lockstep with Biden and will be held accountable for his failures in November.”
