D.C. Council Democrat Blames Texas, Arizona for Border Crisis

'In many ways, the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) A member of the Washington D.C City Council blamed the states of Texas and Arizona for an increase of illegal immigrants putting a strain on the city’s social services.

D.C. councilwoman Brianne Nadeau, a leftist Democrat, played partisan politics and blamed the Republican governors of the two states and accused them of turning the capitol “into a border town,” The Daily Wire reported.

“The governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis, and the federal government has not stepped up to assist the District of Columbia. So we along with our regional partners will do what we’ve always done. We’ll rise to the occasion,” Nadeau said.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas launched the migrant relocation program after months of the White House ignoring requests to increase border security and address the record influx of illegal aliens entering the country.

The bussing program is under Abbott’s Operations Lone Star, a statewide plan to strengthen border security. Republican Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona followed Abbott’s lead.

Together the two states will be sending thousands of illegal immigrants who volunteer for the trip to Democrat-run cities.

“In many ways, the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town. We don’t know how long this will take to resolve. We don’t know how long they will continue bussing,” Nadeau said.

“And so the right thing to do here is to be prepared to ensure we can greet every bus, we can get people off on the right foot, we can get them to where they want to go, and that will ultimately help them in their immigration process.”

The two governors chose Washington D.C., New York City and Chicago because they are known as “sanctuary cities,” and refuse to work with federal immigration authorities to deport migrants.

The Biden administration has allowed one million migrants seeking asylum into the United States to await asylum hearings. That number does not include the thousands of immigrants who have crossed the southern border illegally and were not apprehended.
