(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Democratic lawmakers, party officials and voters have expressed their increasing frustration with President Joe Biden and concern over the GOP’s surge of momentum, The Daily Wire reported.
As Biden’s approval ratings continue to decline, Democrats have openly stated their concerns about Biden’s ability to be reelected in 2024, with an expected “trouncing” in the upcoming midterms.
“Midway through the 2022 primary season, many Democratic lawmakers and party officials are venting their frustrations with President Biden’s struggle to advance the bulk of his agenda, doubting his ability to rescue the party from a predicted midterm trouncing and increasingly viewing him as an anchor that should be cut loose in 2024,” the New York Times wrote in a piece, titled “Should Biden Run in 2024? Democratic Whispers of ‘No’ Start to Rise.”
The Times interviewed over 45 Democrats—local leaders, members of Congress and voters who supported Biden in 2020—who are disappointed with the president’s performance.
Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett stated her disappointment that Biden has not done more to further the far-left agenda.
“Democrats are like, ‘What the hell is going on?’” she said. “Our country is completely falling apart. And so I think we’re lacking in the excitement.”
It also seems as if the Democratic Party is split between pursuit of the more radical leftist agenda and compromising with Republicans. But, all of the party seems to be in agreement that Biden should not be their candidate going forward.
“Many Democratic leaders and voters want Mr. Biden to fight harder against Republicans, while others want him to seek more compromise” the Times reported. “Many of them are eyeing 2024 hoping for some sort of idealized nominee—somebody who isn’t Mr. Biden or Ms. Harris.”
Some Democrats have also gone on record saying they need a Democratic version of Governor Ron DeSantis, R-FL, searching for someone younger and who sticks to their guns.
