Several conservatives found themselves in an unusual position, agreeing with CNN host Brian Stelter‘s opinion about America’s ongoing response to COVID-19.
On a recent episode of Reliable Sources, Stelter stated in his monologue that “living with COVID” should mean something like a return to normalcy, especially by letting children return to school without further shutdowns.
Stelter said the nation needs to separate policies that protect the elderly and those with comorbidities from children, who face approximately zero risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19.
We collectively took action to protect the elderly from Covid. Now, shouldn’t we be doing more to protect children by letting them live normal lives? Or, to pose the Q another way, are we really going to close schools again and let kids suffer even more? pic.twitter.com/FO1AjzneGh

Journalist JD Rucker could hardly believe that he agreed with Stelter’s monologue.
I… I can’t believe I’m saying this. It feels so unnatural, so wrong, after years of seeing through the lies and denouncing the false rhetoric that normally spews from Brian Stelter.
Okay, here we go…
I.
Agree.

Jonathan Zachreson, who founded ReopenCASchools, said that Stelter’s opinion means that Team Apocalypse lost and Team Reality won.
When @cnn & @brianstelter finally agree with you, #TeamApocalypse has lost the game. https://t.co/XNXmJa2MaX

Other commentators said they thought that Stelter’s change of opinion came too late for children and at no cost to himself.
This would have been brave a year ago. It would have been necessary a year ago. It would have meant something a year ago. Instead you said NOTHING, Brian. Being in my DMs doesn’t count. This is so weak I feel sorry for you. You’re not free. Sad. https://t.co/4HKez8d361
