Activist Defends Trans Athletes with Racist Jab at Black Candidate

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Abigail Spanberger, the Democrat candidate for Virginia governor, came under fire after one of her supporters waved a racist sign targeting Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears, a black Republican running for the same office.

The sign, reportedly held by activist Anita Martineau, appeared outside a school board meeting where Sears served as president. It read: “Hey Winsome, if trans can’t share your bathroom, then Blacks can’t share my water fountain.”

The racist message drew widespread condemnation from conservatives on X, including Sears herself.

“I’m disgusted, but not surprised. This is the ‘tolerant’ left Abigail Spanberger defends,” Sears wrote. “I’m the sitting Lieutenant Governor, second in command in the former Capitol of the confederate states. I’m an immigrant, a Marine, and above all, a human being.”

She added, “There is no place for this disgusting hatred in our Commonwealth. Anyone who doesn’t condemn this sign is complicit in approving it.”

GOP Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin echoed these remarks in a separate message, writing: “The hypocrisy of the liberal left on display again. Winsome is so much bigger than this idiocy.”

Martineau later refused to fully identify herself to reporters, claiming she hoisted the sign to “raise awareness.”

“It was satire meant to provoke conversation around the absurdity of prejudice. If anyone thinks we are actually supporting separate drinking fountains based on race they are mistaken,” the woman told Fox5 anchor Shirin Rajaee.

Sears later told Fox News that Spanberger doesn’t know “what to do with” the fact that her opponent is a black woman.

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) As comfort-food restaurant Cracker Barrel continues its long-running mission to become the next Bud Light under “girlboss” CEO Julie Felss Masino, Democrats are pouncing on the opportunity for a rebrand of their own.

“We think the Cracker Barrel rebrand sucks too,” the party posted on an official X account.

The Southern-style comfort-food restaurant’s stock dipped by double digits in August as the company rolled out the next leg of a major rebrand to modernize its menu and ambiance.

That amounted to roughly $100 million.

Fueling the most ire was the company’s decision to remove the elderly “cracker” from the company logo—along with the barrel.

Responses ranged from Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., reminiscing about his time as a server at the restaurant—first founded in Lebanon, Tenn., in 1969—to rival chain Steak ’N’ Shake relentlessly trolling the embattled competitor.

Naturally, the scandal fueled an array of memes about cancel culture and a few about insider trading that paired the country cookin’ chain with unlikely investor Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Pelosi undoubtedly would have stayed far away as Cracker Barrel’s controversial wokefication has been at least three years in the making.

The company began offering meat substitutes in 2022, a foreboding early warning of what was to come.

In 2023, it celebrated “Pride” month by painting its iconic rocking chairs in rainbow colors.

The following month, it hired Masino, a veteran of Starbucks and Taco Bell, to the top role. She promptly put into place the plans for an entire brand overhaul, which included brighter décor and expanded menu items.

It even softened the tone of a familiar peg game that diners can play while waiting for their food.

The rebrand effort came as the restaurant, particularly popular among elderly patrons 65 and up, saw a drop of more than 40% in recent years.

It remains to be seen whether the backlash will further stall sales in the long term.

In a statement, Cracker Barrel downplayed the controversy.

“As with any change, we recognize that there may be a vocal minority who feel differently,” it wrote.

“However, the strong performance of these locations affirms that we are moving in the right direction,” the statement added. “We hope people who haven’t yet visited a remodeled store will visit us and experience the country hospitality proudly on display at every table and in every dish.”

Man Arrested for Declaring Love of Bacon

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) A viral video posted on Tuesday showed a man in the United Kingdom being led away by police officers after saying “We love bacon” during an anti-Muslim demonstration.

According to Grok, the X-based artificial intelligence assistant, the 23-year-old man featured in the video was participating in a protest against the South Lakes Islamic Centre, a proposed mosque in Dalton-in-Furness.

The coastal village in northwest England derives its name, in part, from the medieval Furness Abbey. But residents fear that the town’s new religious fixture will drastically change the character of the region due to its proximity to a scenic national park.

Concerns drew the attention of Nick Tenconi, the leader of the U.K. Independence Party, who visited the construction site in June, telling local authorities that “When an illegal, who gets housed here because there’s a mosque, goes on to rape and murder–the blood is on your hands,” the BBC reported.

The clip, seen as of Saturday by some 3.5 million X users, was the latest touchstone in the once-great British Empire’s rapid transformation into a Sharia-law-inspired version of George Orwell’s 1984.

With a flood of Muslim immigrants fast overtaking the culturally British population, woke British leaders like King Charles III and Prime Minister Keir Starmer have opted to capitulate to the politically correct demands of the uber-sensitive newcomers, who have also driven a spike in violent crime and other issues.

Outrage boiled over in August 2024 after 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, the son of Rwandan immigrants, allegedly stabbed three young girls during a Taylor Swift-themed dance recital in Southport.

Officials have now weaponized the country’s draconian censorship laws against its native-born citizens, with shocking arrests of otherwise innocent civilians who criticize Allah—and even those sharing negative comments about immigration on social media.

The recent arrest is not the first bacon-related incident. In 2016, 35-year-old Kevin Crehan died in prison while serving a 12-month sentence for racially-aggravated public disorder after putting bacon on the door of a Bristol mosque.

Prison officials were later accused of failing to care for the man, who had a history of suicidal thoughts and died of an overdose of diazepam and morphine after suffering a mental-health breakdown.

Netanyahu Says Israel To Take Over Gaza Regardless of Whether Deal Is Reached With Hamas

(Dave DeCamp, Antiwar.com) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview released on Thursday that Israel will take over the Gaza Strip whether or not Hamas agrees to a ceasefire deal.

The interview with Sky News Australia appears to have been recorded before Hamas had publicly accepted the latest ceasefire proposal from mediators Qatar and Egypt, which was virtually identical to one that Israel had previously accepted.

Netanyahu was asked by the interviewer if he still planned to “take over Gaza and eliminate the terrorists” if Hamas accepted a deal. He replied, “We’re going to do that anyway. That there was never a question that we’re not going to leave Hamas there.”

Also on Thursday, Netanyahu said that he was going to approve the Israeli military’s plans to take over Gaza City, which involve the forced displacement of over 1 million Palestinian civilians and the total destruction of the city. Netanyahu and other Israeli officials have been clear that their ultimate goal is the ethnic cleansing of Gaza’s Palestinian population.

“I came today to the Gaza Division in order to approve the plans that the IDF presented to me and to the defense minister for taking control of Gaza City and for defeating Hamas,” he said in a video statement filmed outside the Israeli military’s Gaza Division headquarters.

The Israeli leader also said that he had ordered the start of negotiations to free all remaining Israeli captives in Gaza. “At the same time, I have instructed to immediately begin negotiations for the release of all our hostages and the end of the war under conditions acceptable to Israel,” he said.

The proposal Hamas accepted was for the release of 10 Israeli hostages and a 60-day ceasefire, during which the two sides would try to negotiate a long-term deal. According to The Times of Israel, Israel had previously approved an “identical framework earlier this summer,” but it has yet to respond to Hamas’s acceptance.

According to a report from Drop Site News, Hamas made significant concessions toward Israel’s previous position in accepting the proposal. Hamas said in a statement that the lack of a response from Israel showed that Netanyahu is “the real obstacle to any agreement and that he does not care about the lives of his captives nor is he serious about retrieving them.”

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A leftist think tank center has circulated a memo telling Democrats which woke buzzwords to get rid off ahead of the 2026 primary elections.

The memo, written by Third Way and titled “Was It Something I Said”, targets language long embraced by the left and the Democratic Parry, including “privilege,” “birthing person,” “cisgender,” “patriarchy” and “LGBTQIA+.”

In total, the memo singled out 45 words, that the think tank noted, create “a wall between us and everyday people of all races, religions, and ethnicities.”

Third Way admitted that “people simply do not say, yet they hear them from Democrats.” Politico was first to report on the memo.

According to Third Way, Democrats have alienated many in a desperate bid to “please the few,” particularly on “culture issues, where our language sounds superior, haughty and arrogant.”

Third Way executive Matt Bennett described the memo as his organization’s best effort to “get Democrats to talk like normal people and stop talking like they’re leading a seminar at Antioch.”

“We think language is one of the central problems we face with normie voters, signaling that we are out of touch with how they live, think and talk,” he added.

(Dave DeCamp, Antiwar.com) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that he must have more clarity on what security guarantees his Western backers are willing to provide before meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We want to have an understanding of the security guarantees architecture within seven to 10 days,” Zelensky said. “We need to understand which country will be ready to do what at each specific moment.”

The insistence on security guarantees from NATO countries could sink the peace process, as Russia has said it must be involved in the talks and has rejected the British and French push for a troop deployment to Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday accused the European countries insisting on a troop deployment to Ukraine of purposely undermining the negotiations.

“As for the motives that guide the so-called ‘coalition of the willing’, I see many signs that this activity is aimed precisely at undermining the progress that began to emerge clearly following the summit in Alaska and the contacts between representatives of the American administration and the Russian side that preceded it,” he said.

Zelensky also called for more pressure on Russia in response to heavy Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine on Thursday, including a strike that hit a factory owned by a US company.

“They don’t want to end this war, they’re continuing to carry out large-scale attacks on Ukraine and fierce assaults on the front line. On top of that, they’ve launched missiles on a US-owned plant – as on many other civilian targets,” Zelensky said.

“We expect a principled response from our partners. This war must be brought to an end. Pressure must be applied to Russia so that the war ends. Putin understands nothing but strength and pressure,” he added.

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell told the Justice Department last month that she and her accomplice, Jeffrey Epstein, helped start the Clinton Global Initiative—the conduit allegedly used by Hillary Clinton to trade political favors for monetary donations.

Maxwell revealed Epstein’s ties to the Clinton Foundation when asked whether he had business ties with the former president, Bill Clinton.

“I was part of the beginning process of the Clinton Global Initiative. And that was something that I helped with and that was me, and Epstein may have helped me help them. And in that context, he may well have involved himself, but only in the context of something that I was trying to do,” she told prosecutors, according to newly released interview transcripts.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche then asked whether Epstein donated to the foundation, and Maxwell said she believes he had.

“I think he did do that. And that, I believe, the money that he may have given could have been independent of me.”

Maxwell also suggested that she came up with the idea to start the Clinton Foundation. She said she thought the Bill should “have his own Davos”—a reference to the World Economic Forum, which draws in elite businessmen and politicians for an annual conference. Maxwell said she was “central” to helping launch the project.

Maxwell also said in the interview that she—not Epstein—was friends with the Clintons first. She added that she never witnessed the former president commit any wrongdoing—a similar statement she made about President Donald Trump.

Maxwell was interviewed in late July as part of a purported DOJ effort to shine more light on the Epstein scandal—though the DOJ has yet to release thousands of documents about the FBI’s criminal investigation of him.

The Clinton Foundation has also been in the news in recent weeks. A new document released by the FBI shows that agents apparently had a strong criminal case against the group in the mid-2010s—but top officials shut down the investigation in the leadup to the 2016 election.

Indeed, the FBI had an informant who “possibly” had information about the Clinton Foundation, the newly released FBI memo said. The informant’s info made it all the way up to then-Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who reiterated that no further steps should be taken without his approval.

Weeks later, the DOJ became more adamant about stifling the investigation. Then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates ordered the Eastern District of Arkansas to “shut it down” entirely. The memo doesn’t explain the reason for Yates’s decision.

The DOJ was against the investigation, despite the fact that the FBI had a cooperating witness who recorded conversations with someone associated with the Clinton Foundation, according to the newly released FBI memo.

After Trump won in stunning fashion, agents started worrying that the statute of limitations was approaching. Still, nothing happened. Trump did say that he wouldn’t be pursuing charges against Clinton.

Some eight years later, the second Trump administration is reportedly investigating whether the Obama administration conspired to tilt the election towards Clinton in 2016.

Dow Hits Record High after Fed Chair Hints at September Rate Cuts

(, The Center Square) The Dow Jones Industrial Average clinched a record high Friday for the first time this year hours after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell hinted that the Fed may soon lower interest rates.

The Dow climbed 846 points, or 1.89%, from Thursday’s close to an all-time high of 45,631.74.

Both the broadly diversified S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq have recorded more than 15 record highs in 2025.

Investors across the country watched Powell’s live streamed address at an economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyo., Friday, where he described the economic conditions facing Americans and the Fed. The data indicate that rising inflation and weakening employment are more likely than not, according to Powell, creating a “challenging situation.”

“When our goals are in tension like this, our framework calls for us to balance both sides of our dual mandate,” which he explained as “[fostering] maximum employment and stable prices for the American people.”

A moment later, however, after mentioning some positives about America’s current economic state, he still suggested that a review of the Fed’s policy stance – which hasn’t lowered interest rates since December – was in order.

“Nonetheless, with policy in restrictive territory, the baseline outlook and the shifting balance of risks may warrant adjusting our policy stance,” he said.

Observers have taken Powell’s remarks to mean the central bank is looking at reducing interest rates at its September meeting, which the Fed would typically do to stimulate a slowing economy.

Lower interest rates encourage more spending and more borrowing, which can boost corporate profits and investor confidence, often supporting stock market growth.

President Donald Trump has been pressuring Powell to lower rates for months, yet Powell assured listeners Friday that if the Fed does lower interest rates, it will be because it is their best decision based on the data and not because of political pressure.

The members of the Federal Open Market Committee will “make these decisions based solely on their assessment of the data and its implications for the economic outlook and the balance of risks. We will never deviate from that approach,” he said.

(Dave DeCamp, Antiwar.com) Reuters reported on Thursday that Russia’s demands for a peace deal in Ukraine include Ukrainian forces withdrawing from the Donbas, a guarantee that Ukraine won’t join NATO, and for Ukraine to keep Western troops out of the country.

Russian sources told Reuters that Putin had compromised on his initial conditions, which included the Ukrainian withdrawal from the territory in the southern Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. Under the current offer, Russia is willing to freeze the lines there and also return small amounts of territory it controls in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly rejected the idea of ceding the territory that Ukrainian forces still control in the Donbas, and European leaders appear to be backing his position.

When it comes to NATO, the Reuters report said that Moscow is seeking a legally binding pledge from the alliance that it wouldn’t move further eastwards. A guarantee that Ukraine wouldn’t join NATO was one of Russia’s main demands to avoid the invasion, but the Biden administration refused to engage on the issue.

While the Trump administration has ruled out the idea of Ukraine joining NATO as part of a potential peace deal, the alliance’s leadership is still insisting on its “open door” policy. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said this week that Ukraine is on an “irreversible path” to NATO membership.

Russia’s other condition is related to the security guarantees for Ukraine that are being discussed by the US and its European allies, who are insisting on some sort of arrangement where European troops are deployed to Ukraine and backed by US air power. But Russia has made clear repeatedly that the idea is completely unacceptable, and the insistence on it could tank the peace process.

Sources speaking to Reuters floated the idea of some kind of three way deal between the US, Russia, and Ukraine on security guarantees or revisiting an idea from short-lived peace talks in 2022 that would have involved the five permanent members of the UN Security Council providing the guarantees, which was also brought up by Russian Foreign Minsiter Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday.

While Russia continues to engage in negotiations, it has also made clear that it’s willing to continue the war if its conditions aren’t met. “There are two choices: war or peace, and if there is no peace, then there is more war,” one of the sources told Reuters.

Trump Vows to Fire Embattled Fed Governor

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Donald Trump pledged Friday to fire Lisa Cook, the embattled governor of the Federal Reserve, if she does not resign.

Cook, appointed to her position by former President Joe Biden in 2022, is under scrutiny over allegations of mortgage fraud.

Addressing reporters, Trump said: “What she did was bad. I’ll fire her if she doesn’t resign.”

According to Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Cook falsified documents to illegally obtain favorable mortgage loans.

Pulte’d preliminary investigation was referred to the DOJ, which is currently probing the claims.

According to Pulte, Cook “committed mortgage fraud by designating her out of state condo as her primary residence, just two weeks after taking a loan on her Michigan home where she also declared it as her primary residence.”

Cook’s second residence was in Atlanta, Ga.

He condemned Pulte’s alleged actions, saying “they undermine the faith and integrity of our System,” before adding: “It does not matter who you are – no one is above the law.”
